Re: The Testing of Faith (TentanariX)

Sister Karen Celeste: HP = 16/48, PP = 36, EP = 21/66, Status = Injured

NPC stats:
Grace: HP = 32/79, PP = 45, EP = 44, Status = Injured, Weakened

Rolls
Attack (Karen) : Hit.
Damage: 1 + 1 + 1 = 3 * 13 = 36 damage.

Casting: All three succeed.
Attack (Energy Drain) : Hit
Attack (Hex of Weakness) : Hit
Attack (Life Steal) : Hit
Grace has been Weakened!
Damage (Energy Drain) : 2 + 3 + 7 + 2 = 14 * 2 = 28 + 4 = 32 energy damage on Karen.
Damage (Life Steal) : 3 + 3 + 7 + 2 = 15 damage on Grace. The caster is healed 8 HP.

Attack (Grace) : Hit.
Damage: More than they have in HP.

Grace took cover on the opposite side of the doorway as Karen came running toward her, holding her sword in both hands and occasionally peeking around the corner. As she herself came to see what was approaching them, Karen found herself staring into a wide, dark chamber. Three women were approaching her and Grace, and were hardly more than ten feet away as Karen spotted them. She also spotted another woman, also naked and covered in slime, heading through a doorway on the right side of the room, but she was gone from sight before Sister Karen could do anything to stop her. The nun had more pressing issues at the moment anyway, as all three of the mutated women raised their hands to attack her.

Responding with an orb of white fire before any of them could do anything, Sister Karen Celeste watched as the former test subjects were all caught within her blast of white fire. All three weathered the flames, however, and appeared pained but still alive despite the moderate burns now covering them. All three immediately targeted her, and the first to unleash her magic send an orb of violet light that struck Karen directly in her chest. Rather than burn her, however, the orb seemed to attach to her for a moment, seeping into her very being before violently tearing itself away from her. A sizable portion of her very soul was torn away with it, and she watched it retreat back to its originator who promptly gobbled it up. "Delicious! I'll have to have some more!"

"Look out!" Grace suddenly slammed into Karen, pushing her aside and taking the other two spells in her place. One caused her entire form to wither slightly, while the other did much as the spell that had struck Karen had done, though it tore off a chunk of the corrupted girl's life essence rather than her soul. Even so, Grace still hurtled forward after sparing a second or so to recover, her sword held high enough to scrape against the ceiling before coming down and cutting the woman that had stolen some of her energy in half. The other two were still up, but Karen had an opening in which to attack as they both focused on Grace.

Re: The Testing of Faith (TentanariX)

Karen felt most queazy as the violet orb of light hit her in her unguarded chest as the spell ripped a portion of soul out from her body, Uuuugh! Hnnng..... Uguuu...... she moaned inwardly at the disturbing feeling, she then saw Grace wither slightly as she been drugged or something before another orb hit her and stole some of the women's very life. She was about to be seriously worried for and angered for her friend until she saw Grace pick up her sword and chop one of the women in half ending her abruptly. Inspired by Grace's will power and inner strength to keep the fight up Karen would promptly throw out another massive ball of white fire towards the creature, this pouring nearly all she had left in into, and hoping it would be enough to severely the two creatures if not kill them outright. She feared she would not be able to continue or be of much use to grace at all if she failed to finish the creatures, and was worried Grace would not be able to finish both of them on her own if she was taken out of the equation.

((Holy fire on the two slime women again, this time x=10))

Sister Karen Celeste: HP = 16/48, PP = 36, EP = 11/66, Status = Injured

NPC stats:
Grace: HP = 18/79, PP = 45, EP = 44, Status = Injured, Weakened

Rolls
Attack (Karen) : Miss.

Attack (Grace) : Hit.
Damage: A fuckton.

Casting (Life Drain) : Success.
Attack: Hit.
Damage: 2 + 3 + 7 + 2 = 14 damage on Grace. The caster is healed 7 HP.

The two slime coated women saw Karen's magical strike well before it arrived, unfortunately, and both dove out of the way before the orb of white flame exploded next to them. The only one caught in the blast was Grace, but due to the nature of that attack she was unharmed. The girl came out of the flash with her sword swinging again, slaughtering another of the mutated women, but the lone survivor unleashed another draining spell on the already weakened girl. Grace looked as though she were about to collapse, but she was still up even after the third magical attack made against her.

Re: The Testing of Faith (TentanariX)

Karen cursed under her breath as the two slime coated women jumped out of the way of her blast and silently praised the Star God that the nature of her power kept friendlies caught up in the blast radius from being harmed. And she couldn't help but admire Grace as the woman came erupting of the flames like a great flaming angel of retribution down on to the slime and cleaved through the other. In spite of her mutations and corruption, to Karen she truly seemed to be a bastion of purity and justice as she wielded her sword as a tempest. She never seemed to fail to be there for her or to help pick up her slack an cover her back through any of the situations and she was truly thankful to have been able to make One like her. So as Grace proceeded to take her swor and charge to the last remaining one in the area, Karen immediately pulled out her pistol and fired off a shot to the back of the slimewomans knee to hopefully at least cripple her and leve her vulnerable for Grace if not finish her off.

Rolls
Attack (Karen) : Hit.
Damage: Enough.

Karen and Grace gain 6 experience each! She may also gain 4 greyhearts.

Karen's shot struck perfectly, hitting the slime coated woman in the knee and causing her to scream in pain and fall forward. Kneeling, she couldn't even attempt to get out of the way or cast a spell as Grace strode over and swung with all of her remaining strength, cutting off her head cleanly in a single strike. After that, the alabaster skinned woman collapsed, her strength spent as she panted heavily.

"GRACE!" Karen cried out, worried about her new friend once she saw her collapse after dispatching the last of their enemies for the time being. She immdeiately sprang over to the spot where Grace had dropped, kneeling down over her friend and checking on her. After checking her pulse and listening for her heartbeat, she would sigh in relief as she would find out that she was just exhasuted and over exerted. Once her fears were asaged, she would set her pistols down for a moment and sit next to Grace quietly, meanwhile she would inspect the strange heart like things that had come from the slime covered women, "I........ really have no need for these things, they don't seem to have any use. I...... wonder what I should do with them?" SHe asked to herself as she continued to watch vigilant over her tired friend.

Grace, who had only fallen to her knees, was breathing raggedly but seemingly alright, merely feeling the aftereffects of the magic that had been used on her. As she contemplated the grey stones sitting on the floor, a raspy masculine voice suddenly came from the corner of the room; "Heh heh heh.... Hello stranjah! What are ya sellin?" Turning, Karen found a thin, pale man in a long dark coat standing there, staring at her and Grace with sickly yellow eyes. Grace immediately shrieked in surprise, and said; "Who the fuck is that!"

In response, the man laughed again and pulled his long coat open, revealing a wide assortment of things placed there, evidently for sale. "I've got good things on sale, stranjah!"

Re: The Testing of Faith (TentanariX)

Karen leaped back a bit, like Geace thrown off and caught off guard by the strange little man's sudden appearance and placed her hand on her pistol, before she heard him speak; identifying himself as a merchant of some sort, obviously. Slowly removing her hand from her firearm, she turned to take the strange hearts she got from the alike covered women, all the while ineffectively attempting to cover herself from the merchant and present the hearts to him. "Y-yes, my good sir. I have no use or need of these hearts and dont see point in carrying them with me, would you tell me what I could get from these, if you would please?" she asked the merchant placing the hearts at his feet.

Sister Karen Celeste: HP = 48, PP = 36, EP = 66, Status = Fine

NPC stats:
Grace: HP = 79, PP = 45, EP = 44, Status = Fine

"Ahhh! I'll buy it at a high price!" The strange man said, and handed over the coin for the grey stones she'd found in the bodies of the women. After that, he waited to see if Karen wanted anything else, and if she didn't, he closed his coat and said; "Come back any time!" Then, he promptly vanished, leaving Karen and Grace alone in the sewers. And naked.

(I tend to handle the merchant transactions in a purely mechanical manner. Check the shop entry in the character creation thread to see how much money you made.)

Re: The Testing of Faith (TentanariX)

(Waugh. MMOs are so horribly addicting, not to mention the constant attention the usual grind of daily life demands. But such is RL.)

As Karen received the pouch of money the Merchant handed to her for the Grey Hearts, she realized she had no way of carrying it, not only that, but she had zero protection from any other nasty things that may be lurking about in the sewers so before the merchant disappeared she quickly dug out a few coins from the bag and called out to get the strange little man's attention, "Erm, excuse me sir! But my friend here and I really do need a replacement set of clothing, if you could! I'd rather not get out back into public unclothed, not to mention being unprotected from anything else in the streets. If you could maybe, possibly somehow have a duplicate of our previous clothes, I'd greatly appreciate it." She said offering the man 20 denari for a new set of clothing for her and Grace both, Once the clothes had been produced and they were fully clothed and the merchant was gone, Karen would turn to Grace before speaking, "I don't suppose you would happen to know which direction we were brought here from, or the way back to the surface would you? Even if you didn't I really don't plan to stay here forever, and I strongly advise against spending more time here then necessary. Let's keep moving." She consorted with her fried before making her way out of the room they had found themselves in.

After they were fully clothed once more, Grace shrugged in answer to the question and replied, "I've got on idea. We've got plenty of choices though, and we know someone got out of here, and they didn't go out the way that we came in." There were three passages leading out, one that went down on the far right, one that remained level in the center, and one that sloped upwards on the left.

Karen sighed at Graces responses, before heading out towards the left exit that was slopin upwards, "Well..... You think if were underground then a path that heads upwards would at the very least be a good place to start or try if nothing else. We have to try some direction after all." she said as she started down the upward sloping path to the left with Grace in tow.

Grace followed Karen up the left hand path that sloped upwards, entering an upper level of the sewer beneath the Academy. They wandered around for almost half an hour before finding a ladder that led up to a manhole leading out, which opened into a small courtyard behind the chapel that Karen normally worked at.

Re: The Testing of Faith (TentanariX)

As Karen and Grace finally managed to clear the sewer and reach the surface world, getting a few good breaths, a jolt of electricity suddenly panged through her mind as she remembered the woman who had fled before their fight with the slime women. "GODS! Grrraaarrgh! Grace! We still have one more of those women to deal with for the professor in there! We have to go back, at least to the area we left if not deeper. Do you remember the way we came to get here? I don't wanna go back in there anymore either, but we can't leave that monster running free. C'mon." she said as she took a deep breath and heading back toward the exit they came out of back into the depths of the sewers.

(okay I got some big shoes to fill so lets hope I don't fall on my face)

Grace looked a little annoyed at reentering the sewers but did so with out complaint. After a lengthy walk they once again returned to the crossroads they had been nearly an hour before. "Maybe we should take the downward tunnel. What do you think Karen?" Grace paused examining each path before marking the two paths they had been on before with lose bricks. "There this way if we get turned around we no which paths we've been down."

(I BELIEVE IN YOU!!!!!!~ YOU CAN DO EET!!! lol )

At Graces suggestion Karen nodded in agreement, "Makes sense to me, Grace. It was the way we came out after all and saves precious time of looking for another exit. Just be sure to stay on your guard, we don't want to let any other monsters get the drop on us again." she said as she slowly made her back down the slope they had came out of. Karen took note as Grace pauses at each path to place loose bricks along the way, "Good thinking. Let's just hope that we don't have "birds" come and eat our bread crumb trail. Or it doesn't lead anything unpleasant to us." As they came to the crossroads again, Karen decided to go down the path on the far left leading down, "I would think if the one that ran during the battle didn't follow us up, she likely ran deeper underground where she would difficult to find. We will need to be exceptionally cautious." she advised her friend as they went further down into the sewers......

Grace nodded at Karen's suggestion of caution and took the lead her heavy sword resting on her shoulder. From her position behind Grace Karen got a full view of Graces athletic butt swaying with each step the armor revealing enough to spark anyone's imagination. The walked like this for several minutes as the air around them started getting more pungent and ripe with the smell of sewage and the more exotic stink of alchemical reagents. As they descended it became darker and darker till Sister Karen could only make out Grace by her very white skin reflecting what little light that made its way down the tunnel. About ready to call it quites on the pursuit Karen noticed Grace suddenly tense and point further down the tunnel. Peaking around her friend Sister Karen noticed a faint light emanating from one of the rooms ahead. Grace readied her sword from its resting position just in case as she waited for the sisters input.

Get ready to attack, just as soon after I speak. We'll see if it's a non-threat or a hostile. If it proves to be our missing slime woman, swing as soon as it get within range. If it launches a spell, I'll launch a holy fire to go off in that general area. Okay?" she quietly whispered and instructed her friend her before slowly withdrawing her pistol and steadying her other hand for an immediate attack or counter attack if it indeed proved to be a threat. "WHOEVER YOU ARE! PLEASE COME OUT, WE MEAN YOU NO HARM, BUT WE ARE SEARCHING FOR A DANGEROUS CREATURE! WE DON'T WANT TO HARM AN INNOCENT BY MISTAKE!" She cried getting ready for a possible battle.

((Call it out, if it proves to be hostile wait for it to attack or Grace's swing, and then immediately fire off a Holy Fire X=5.))

Re: The Testing of Faith (TentanariX) GMed by ranger

Karen made her proclamation but nothing happened except a very loud series of splashes. Grace looked over at the sister and shrugged. What ever had been in the room had either run or went swimming. Of course the thought of someone swimming through sewage brought pleasant images to the mind. Still the light persisted never wavering or fading. Grace looked at Karen to see if she had any thoughts before winking and dashing around the corner of the room. "BY THE GODS!" Graces voice sounded surprised and maybe a wee bit horrified.

Karen quickly followed behind Grace her pistols held at the ready, in case whatever had frightened/shocked grace so much was something dangerous; she didn't want to be caught off guard again.

((Shirt post is short, but I don't have anything much to respond to now. XP ))
