Re: Kunoichi Ninpocho 1-3
Actually that was what stopped the pirating of Kunoichi Ninpocho 3. Sadly the guy who was making the translation lives in USA and was forced to quiet useless he gets jail time, since the game contain l0li. No one piked up the work after he quit... unfortunately.
its a little more complicated than that; he said that initially; and someone in the same state he lives in had recently been busted for some VERY photorealistic l0l1 manga. But then he came out and admitted later on that it was just too much work and he got really overwhelmed and stressed out by the whole thing. He hadn't finished the main game and mephisto was already sending him more content that was going to be added in patches; The loli was the icing on the cake...
I dont blame him; rather than a rudimentary menu translation, a simple smaller game, or something along those lines, he opted to do a full text translation of arguablly the most text heavy entry in the series right off the bat, the game has mountains of text much of it virtually impossible to translate without a really comprehensive understanding of Japanese; and this was before we had habisain and vostykyozev's awesome translation tools, or any of the more complex meta-translation solutions like Trans-AG.
My understanding is that no-one picked it up afterwards because after the way things went down mephisto wasnt interested in getting someone else to take another stab at it.
If someone had wanted to pick up where he left off unofficially, it wouldnt have been practical at the time. Like I said translation tools were practically non-exsistant then,so picking up someone elses translation also meant learning all of the their text stripping/hooking/inserting tools, combine that with no support from the author, and your creating a recipe for total brain explosion.
I have actually been involved in the fan translation of two REALLY obscure hentai games for RPG-MAKER; (before anyone asks neither had any loli or any other questionable material) in both cases the author contacted us after the first closed beta release and asked us to stop; and we complied. Theres a reason these things dont get translated very often.
Folks liek habisain arent getting nearly as much credit as they deserve for the work they are doing. Its incredibly difficult stuff, and that hes creating his tools in suich a way that laymen can use them is astounding. most translation tools require serious command line work to be even remotely functional. Habisain probably wont be happy until his whole system can be driven from a gui.
