Re: The Ill-Portented Expedition (crossgrave, blueslime, chibi)

Azalia watched the spectacle unfolding before her with mild interest and a raised eyebrow. At least, until Soren performed a rather spectacular manouver that had to be the conversational equivalent of cutting his own tail off. At that point, she simply facepalmed, letting out a long sigh. Ye gods... I do hope thing will get normal later. I severely do. Or at least I hope it's not contagious. The poor guy certainly wasn't likely to get laid, even if his compliment worked on the soldier girl. Well, it could still get interesting, if Satuma felt like making him squirm. He certainly made for a good target.

Re: Character Creation Thread

Name: Keti Ulfhild
Race: Siren
Element: Air
Gender: Male
Description:
Of middling height, this delicate and feminine Siren is actually a man. Wavy, sunny blonde hair hangs from his head, almost-but-not-quite touching his shoulders and framing his face in a bushy tumble. He has large brown eyes and a dainty nose. Skin tanned from being out in the sun with his plants all day, Keti's body is quite feminine, being softer and possessing wide hips and subtle curves in many places. While originally white, so many plants have been woven or caught into Keti's wings that they are stained a light green, reminiscent of spring. Presumably the color would return to white, were Keti to stop, and allowed the tinged feathers to molt out.

Wears his seal skin wrapped around his waist, folded over and hanging like a gray, two-layered skirt, secured in place with a bit of rope. It's stained like his wings as well, except in this case it gets its color from the soil. While he owns a pair or two of wooden sandals, Keti prefers to go barefoot, feeling the dirt between his toes and under his feet. Undyed linen makes up the rest of his clothing; a simple cloth wrap works as underwear, and a shirt covers his torso and shoulders. Bizarrely, Keti's shirts have not succumbed to colorful staining, like his wings and sealskin have. Besides his simple attire, Keti often threads various flowers and plants through his hair, wings and clothes.

**EDIT**
Now with dress up game image!

Imagine that, but with more poof to the hair, a gray-skirt, and less tits. Presumably his smile would also be more serene and less smirk-like, and his legs would be slightly less delectable.

AP: 8/8
SP: 8/8

WP: 18

Dodge: 20
Magical Resistance: 18

EXP Rate: 1.0

Weapon Proficiencies:
Level 3 - Support Magic
Level 2 - Offensive Magic, Spear
Level 1 - Dagger, Staff, Bow, Rapier

Special Powers: Nope

Gear: Driftwood Flute (counts as Magic Wand), Spear, Dagger, Flowers. SO MANY FLOWERS. A slate and chalk. Shoulder-strapped bag that contains the slate and probably some flowers, along with a a set of gardening tools.

Background:
Atypical and weirdly for a Siren, Keti lives in a well-built cottage, situated high on a cliff (a good distance from the edge) that overlooks the sea. He loves flowers; they dominate entirety of the clifftop, and the cottage is surrounded by them. The sea is frequently quite rough, and it rains often, but it helps to keep Giersart's garden healthy. Besides the beach and the stunning cliff of flowers, a forest springs not far from the sandline at the bottom of the easy, sloping trail up to the top of the cliff.

Setting him apart even further from fellows of his race, he is mute, and is subsequently unable to sing, capable only of wordless shouts and other noises. He otherwise has the same musical aptitude as others of his race. Perhaps more so, even, as he has the uncanny talent to pick up any instrument - even one he's never seen before - and sound quite alright with it. Besides that, several flutes, harps, drums, and various other instruments rest in racks or on the floor in the Music Room of the cottage, which opens out into a covered deck.

The house has a vegetable garden, of course, and a few scattered fruit trees, but is otherwise completely surrounded by flowers, save for the path from the cottage to the base of the cliff. A great, stone-floored common room that holds the kitchen and such. A few more rooms make up the cottage; a larder, his bedroom, and the tool and seed shed outside. Another bedroom, vacant, is used as extra storage, along with an empty room beside it.

Lives alone, on the outskirts of a small fishing village by the name of Brookdell.

Has recently begun to feel restless, an urge to leave. Wishes he lived near a faerie circle, so that they'd be able to tend to his flowers in his absence.

The source of his inability to speak is a witch's curse. He doesn't know about it. Maybe his parents traded it for something, if you want to plotpoint or whatever cool otherwise it's fine being ancient history.

Not sure if I wrote it up clearly, intending for hair to be thick and voluminous, like .

Azelia Solac, his name back when I was genning a girl~ Giersart Verrais Aethaise, supafrench male name.

Re: Rise of the Accursed OOC thread(interest check)

Few questions...

-Can we choose an element not officially listed as one of the choices for a race?
-Will PCs have spells or abilities that can hurt willpower of enemies? (or each other...)
-Are wands the only source of normal magic? If not, what else would grant us spells?
-Will wands be given 'special skills' as well?
-How will Mind actually affect spell power? (as there's seemingly no stat for it)
-Can we use support wands on ourselves? (such as outside of combat for full healing or pre-combat buffs, especially between harsh combat rounds)
-Will Wands have limited charges? Will bows/xbows/guns require ammunition?
-Is flight/swimming ability going to affect combat at all? (flying chars staying in the air, out of range of ground chars. Water chars able to drag others underwater, etc)
-Will flight/swimming affect characters outside of combat? (glancing over first posts, one of the cities is blocked off, so could a harpy fly over the wall to break in?)
-Will AP carry over round to round if a partial amount is leftover? Or are we going to lose it all if wielding larger weapons?
-Is there any grappling system in place? Or other actions that can be taken for AP during a fight?
-How fast do our characters move in a battle? (as many weapons have a range list of 10) And will movement cost AP?

(I think that's it... I hope >.>)

Re: Escape from Dracholt (Sinfulwolf)

Meaghan looked up at him, and let her eyes slide down his form, taking him in. Rather handsome, but the finery was of poor quality. Still any other day she might take him aside for a quick fuck, he looked like he might actually be decent at it. And damn could she use a fuck right about now.

His approach though certainly needed work, so she waved her hand at him. "Not with someone who can't even be bothered to press his clothing," she said flippantly, turning her head away from him and taking another drink of the wine. Horrible that it was it was better than nothing. Still she missed some of the good bottles her father used to give her.

Then a thought slowly formed in her mind.

"But... that depends on who you are," she said with a throaty and sensual growl.

Few questions...

-Can we choose an element not officially listed as one of the choices for a race?
Nope

-Will PCs have spells or abilities that can hurt willpower of enemies? (or each other...)
Nope

-Are wands the only source of normal magic? If not, what else would grant us spells?
Nope, there will be other objects, such as magical tomes, rods etc. Each type of magic device will have a different kinda of area affected (wands affect a single target, tomes will affect small groups). These are all covered under the same magic skills however.

-Will wands be given 'special skills' as well?
Yes. One of the big differences with magic, however, is that spells able to be cast are specific to the magic impliment equipped. So if you have a wand that can cast a spell "Inferno", no matter how often you use it, you will be unable to 'learn' the spell and transfer it to other items.

Special skills, by contrast, will be both more powerful and able to be learned, even from magic impliments; they are across the board more powerful, but cost SP to use etc.

-How will Mind actually affect spell power? (as there's seemingly no stat for it)
Mind is used in the roll to hit with magic. In terms of support spells it doesn't affect buffs, but debuff support spells will also need a roll to hit.

-Can we use support wands on ourselves? (such as outside of combat for full healing or pre-combat buffs, especially between harsh combat rounds)
Yes.

-Will Wands have limited charges? Will bows/xbows/guns require ammunition?
Ranged weapons don't require ammo. As far as wands, at this point in time they don't have charges, but I reserve the right to change my mind down the track.

-Is flight/swimming ability going to affect combat at all? (flying chars staying in the air, out of range of ground chars. Water chars able to drag others underwater, etc)
Nope. Unrealistic, but people can deal. Ultimately it goes both ways and keeps flying enemies from sniping from afar.

-Will flight/swimming affect characters outside of combat? (glancing over first posts, one of the cities is blocked off, so could a harpy fly over the wall to break in?)
Yeah, I'll allow this much.

-Will AP carry over round to round if a partial amount is leftover? Or are we going to lose it all if wielding larger weapons?
Nope. But the heavier weapons tend to give more bang if they have an AP divisible by the amount they consume. (Weapons are not perfectly balanced, I realise.)

-Is there any grappling system in place? Or other actions that can be taken for AP during a fight?
I did have a grapple system, but it's messy and clumsy. I'll see about revising it into something less awkward to use. I'll also write up some other actions such as declaring defence.

-How fast do our characters move in a battle? (as many weapons have a range list of 10) And will movement cost AP?
Previously I was going to do movement loose, but I suppose with ranged weapons having a definative and all thigns considered short range, I suppose I need more defined movement stats. At this stage, I'm thinking 1 square of free moment, then 1 AP per 2 squares when in combat conditions.

Re: The Ill-Portented Expedition (crossgrave, blueslime, chibi)

Nath silently gave a nod to Satuma as she approached, his face remaining calm and impassive. The professor, on the other hand... "What? Yes, yes, I'm very busy today so... wait, you're not? Nath, is this... argh, I suppose she'll have to do, we do not have time to find another. Is this your idea of a joke?" he snapped at his assigned protector; Satuma was sure she saw his lip curl ever so slightly for the briefest of moment.

"Not at all, Jontus," he replied, in the deep commanding voice of a career soldier. "She's young, and unorthadox, but very capable. I have compelte trust in her."

As the exchange ended with Soren's embarrassment, a few awkward moments passed, the professor's pacing had only intensified by it, throwing the odd glance at Satuma; her little games with one of his star pupils had done little to endear herself to him. But this silence is broken by the panting and hurried movement of Goron, racing down the street as fast as he could manage. "I'm sorry I'm late, Professor," he declared, still breathing deeply before his mentor, even as Nath glanced towards the sky, another slight hint of amusement on his face. Those skilled at telling the time knew that there was still a half hour or so until their designated meeting time. Those experienced with Professor Htamedisil knew that the last person to arrive was always late, regardless of the time.

"Mm.. quite alright, young Goron," the Professor said solemnly with a nod to the youth. "Are we ready to leave, Nath?" he asked , the quiet warrior responding with a nod. "Good, then let us get underway! Come now Soren, we've work to do!" With the members assembled, the expedition began their journey, making their way out of the city gates and following along the road; they would travel along the road nroth for a ways before they reached the pass they'd take through the mountains. With little but open countryside and farmlands around them, it gave them plenty of idle time to talk amoungst themselves.

The man smiled, barring his pointed fangs at her. "Ah, I see you recognise a man of distinction when you see one," he replied, moving around to stand beside here, the side she had turned away from when she had initially declined him."My name... is not that important, really. But I have a feeling you'll quite appreciate what I may be able to do for you," he added, reaching forth with his hand to stroke her cheek softly; he was certainly bold, even amoungst his own kind.

Letting a coy smile cross her features, showing off her own fangs, Meaghan leaned forward, deepening the view of her cleavage.

"Well well, now you do certainly have my attention," she said, letting him stroke her cheek. Her fingers drummed gently against the table top, her eyes looked up into his own.

The man let out a low chuckle, "Perhaps we should retreat to private quarters to discuss things in more... detail.." he suggested. While it was certainly not unheard of to walk into a busy tavern or inn during an evening service period to find one or more couples or larger groups invovled in certain activities in the common room, if he was referring to any sort of other dealings, it would be best to be done where they wouldn't be overheard.

"I promise you, I won't disappoint your expectations," he adds, his fingers slowly trailing off her skin as he takes a step backwards, and extends an arm towards the stairs up to the rooms, offering her to proceed before him.

Meaghan raised an eyebrow, looking towards the stairs, and stood. As she moved up the stairs she let her hips sway, sheathed sword and whip tapping lightly against her left hip. She glanced back behind her only once to ensure he was following, a sly wink thrown back at him, but also to scan the crowd.

She didn't think anyone would notice two Vampyres sneaking off for some private fun, but it never helped to throw caution to the wind... well not entirely anyway.

Her glance around the room reveal that the pair were indeed being watched, but probably only because there was nothing else happening. The barkeep watched with an expression of both curiosity and amusement, but didn't loko like he intended on leaving the bar anytime soon. The only other patron in the room also watched them, a young woman who seemed to be looking somewhat hungrily at them, and perhaps slightly envious.

The man followed Meaghan up the stairs and into the small room she chose, all of the upstairs rooms were identical to each other; a large bed with dark red sheets, perhaps in another time quite luxurious, but the ravages of time had worn away at them. They were, at least, mostly clean. Advacent to it was a small nightstand with a drawer, and a few other storage spaces around the room; all of these looked as thought they were perhaps always worn and run down, compared to the bed it was obvious where the decorators' priorities lay.

Re: The Ill-Portented Expedition (crossgrave, blueslime, chibi)

Satuma raised her brow and looked down at the ball of blushing misery in front of her. This fellow was an odd one, that was certain. One of those socially inept bookworm types she'd often seen in the hallways of her university. The shy ones who she caught looking at her constantly on the way to classes. She'd occasionally turned around to look back at them and their eyes would immediately look away, trying to make it seem as if they'd been concentrating on something just beyond her, or next to her. She shook her head sadly. Those types lacked confidence, and they were never going to get anywhere in life unless they found some, no matter how smart they were.

"I am sorry to hear that," she said, feeling more than a bit awkward talking to someone who was clearly in distress. "I'll just, go over here now, shall I? Nice to meet you."

She uncoiled herself and moved quickly over to Nath's side, her eyes wide with a look that said 'What the hell was that?' She settled into another comfortable coil half a tail behind Nath, opposite from the professor, who, she was sorry to realize, was quite too much of a hopeless intellectual and clearly full of himself. That was a shame, because she had liked his book.

"I know why you really wanted me on this mission, Nath," she whispered, leaning forward to Nath's ear. "You needed someone to keep you sane."

~Kriia~

Name: Kriia
Race: Harpy

Gender: Female

Name: Kriia
Race: Harpy
Element: Air
Gender: Female
Description: Standing at roughly 5'1" and sporting bright white plumage. Lithe and highly flexible, Kriia has the well exercised body of a huntress. Her avian eyes have a tendency to either flit about restlessly, always watching the surroundings, or lock-on and stare hard into people. Her head/hair plumage is fairly short, around neck/chin length around the sides whilst slightly longer at the very back, and flicks outwards at the ends. Her body plumage such as that on her legs is soft, but is comparably more thin and sleek than some harpies, laying quite close to her skin. Whilst many harpies like a warm fluffy pair of legs, she claims it's all the better for speed.

She wears a simple silky white pointed skirt that opens at either side, a small leather pouch and a quiver of arrows kept at her hip upon a soft leather belt. An additional item of clothing she sometimes chooses to wear is a chest wrap made from a single piece of long white, light weight cloth. Hung from the back of the neck, before wrapping down to cross each breast diagonally, continuing round the back and tying at the front. The chest wrap is worn purely for function rather than any sense of modesty (with bare chested being the norm for harpies anyway), as a means of support and comfort during more acrobatic flying maneuvers.

Level 1 - Air magic (support), Air magic (offensive), Sword, Rapier

Special Powers:

Gear:
Harpy bow, Light quiver, Spear, Ashwood wand (kept in quiver), White half skirt, Soft leather belt, small grey leather utility pouch,

Background:
A huntress by profession, and a wanderer by heart. Kriia embodies her element exceptionally in many regards. Living for the present, and never the past nor the future, she revels in new things and experiences yet discards them without second thought. This isn't to say that a dropped interest might not be suddenly picked up again. People and potential friends (or even enemies) of course tend to struggle a little being subjected to this attitude. She often displays considerable enthusiasm and efficiency in pursuing her current interest or activity, but her attention span remains a constant deciding factor.

Whilst she has never outright abandoned her clan, the frequency and duration of her absences and times spent roaming are enough to make some wonder on several occasions. Whilst hardly dependable to provide regularly for the clan, whenever she does come back to the nests it's always bearing well received gifts consisting of good hunting victories and other curious trinkets she comes across and doesn't care to be weighed down by. When she leaves again she departs taking nothing from the clan that she hadn't brought herself. Opinions within the clan vary from quiet grumbling and disapproval of her overly flighty and seemingly detached habits, to eagerly looking forward to her next visit.

A keen eyed and expert hunter with bow, spear and her own natural weapons. She relies primarily on speed, cunning and precision in combat.

Trivia:
Her favourite flavour is the "flavour of the month".

Typically quite fussy about the state of her feathers. A gleaming white is maintained to the best of her ability.

Freedom of flying remains an inextinguishable passion of Kriia's. An activity she never tires of. (mentally at least.)

Soren, thankful for the interruption, uncurled and began to slither after the Professor. This was his element. The realm of books and knowledge and learning. He'd never been with a woman and to be quite frank never thought about them as women. They were classmates, fellow travelers on the road of knowledge. He cocked his head at Azalia though, "You were in my Transitive Properties of Gunpowder class last year, weren't you? The one with Professor Lunasina, right?" He could talk to women this way, as a fellow student.

Re: Rise of the Accursed OOC thread(interest check)

Wow. Alright. Wow. Alight.

Applications are on hold for now, I've got a total of 17 players who are either signed up or reasonably advanced along the character creation process. So until I'm sure I can handle any more players as I don't want to stretch myself too thinly, I'll be closing signups until further notice.

As far as those waiting on game threads still, a rough draft of groups will be as follows:

Backwater Village

Pale
Aurani
Oamp

Forest crew

Ranger
Aztlan
Keylo
MBS

Harpy lands

Occam
Squid
Kathy

Coastal/Fishing Village

Farren
Garblarg
Copper

This is not set in stone and modifications may yet be made in order to slow everyone into place and state their reasons for being in the area, but I have some measure of idea (ranging from very vague to reasonable) of what I'm doing at each of these locations. If you have any suggestions or complaints, get in fast.

Re: Escape from Dracholt (Sinfulwolf)

Meaghan looked around the room and shrugged. The bed was more than good enough, and sitting on its edge she leaned back slightly, supporting herself on her arms.

"Now then, I'm curious to hear what you have to say, before that cutie from downstairs decides she wants more than imagination to satisfy," she purred, letting her boot trail up her breeches, eyes once again crawling over the man's form.

Had he not piqued her curiosity... and had it been any other day... then she would have continued to shoot him down. There were enough men and women in the city to not have to deal with clumsy pick up lines.

The Village of the Wayward Lambs (Pale, Oamp)

Visitors were rare to the creatively named village of Newhill. Far flung from any sort of trade or travel route, it was a wonder exactly what caused a group of elves to settle here in the first place. Still, while one may wonder as to why a group decided to move into this area to settle, there was no wonder why those chose the exact spot they did; an idyllic setting, the small village of wood and thatch houses rested on the edge of a beautiful clear lake. The village itself was build on a gentle swell of the land which provided a natural clearing from the light forests that almost grew up to the edge of the village. Life here was peaceful and content, a simple existence.

Were it any other time of year, the locals might be suspicious of not one, but two outsiders arriving and not far apart from one another, but they were preparing celebrations for their annual religious festival. This was the part that had gob-smacked Alazais, who had arrived into the peaceful village only earlier that day. Contrary to her expectations, while the locals had indeed marvelled over her arrival, it was simply because she was a traveller, those were rare, and that they had another such traveller in the village, perhaps a friend of hers. When she announced herself as an Oracle, the most she got was a pleasant "that's nice, dear" reaction, hardly the shock and awe she had come to expect. If this was how low Vira had fallen, it was no wonder the Accursed were returning.

As she sat, considering her situation in what passed for the local inn, really more of a tavern and meeting hall that had some spare rooms that could be cleared out to be used for their occasional travellers, she was aware she wasn't alone; the other traveller she had so many times already today been compared to, Celine, also sat in here for lack of anything else to do. She had arrived some days earlier, and been convinced that it would be poor manners for her to leave without witnessing their big celebration, not to mention it may bring upon her the wrath of their local deity.

Indeed, Auricael was overseeing the preparations made in her honour from a discrete hiding place; she would not make her grand entrance until she was suitably appeased, only then would she grace them with her presence. The usual preparations would not be finished until this evening, giving her plenty of time to explore what was going on in the town, should she choose to. She was hardly a stranger to any of these people and a few words could see any desire she had filled. But these whispers of outsiders in the village were curious, she hadn't met a new person in a while and after-all, it was important that they showed her proper tribute.

"Hmm?" Azalia glanced at Soren as she slithered with the rest of the group. She frowned, trying to recall the exact memory, before her eyes widened slightly in recognition. "Oh yeah, I was. Heh. That's a funny memory, too." It was one of the less orthodox classes, which made it more interesting than others. The subject in question was fairly attractive too. Azalia, altough her element was darkness, was a bit of a pyromaniac. She liked things that made a big bang, and anything that had to do with gunpowder was fun to her. "I don't think you ever stood out there... But I think I can remember you." Not that it really meant anything. The girl could recall a number of people she knew or saw, but never really cared about. Soren more or less fell into that group.

Re: Escape from Dracholt (Sinfulwolf)

The young man strolled into the room after closing the door behind him, walking up to stand before Meaghan. "You just seemed somehow... trapped..." he remarked with a coy smile. "Like a caged songbird, a terrible thing," he reached down and began to run a hand through her hair as he spoke. "That other girl you spoke of possessed no such qualities, making her far less interesting..."

The way he dodged around the matter, had he come to a conclusion to her foul mood? It made sense, thinking about it rationally, why else would one brood in a tavern near the gate, but whether or not he was toying with her, or actually was able to render assistance he had yet to either confirm or deny.
