Re: Gordon (Sponge)

Deana was the first to recover. "Hmmph. And just what is it precisely that you're going to do?" Something about the way she looked at him made it seem liked she was angry at his mere presence. "Better men than you have tried. As if it wasn't bad enough that we had to defend our loved ones against the mists, now Lauralie will have us sheltering a stranger. An outsider who has somehow mystically appeared amongst us?"

"He is from another world, Deana dear, as I have told you he would be," Lauralie said calmly, from where she sat, pouring herself another cup of tea.

To this Deana folded her arms and looked between Gordon and Lauralie. "Yes and you've said he'd find the source of the evil, as you couldn't do before. So go on then, Gordon. Tell us where it is then." She scowled and looked at him piercingly, her feet planted in an aggressive stance.

Alicia came to Gordon's side then and put her arms around one of his. "Don't be foolish, Deana, he just arrived here last night."

Deana eyed the way Alicia held onto him and snorted softly. "Work quickly to earn his trust then, didn't you?" Her icy blue eyes held Alicia's unblinking golden ones in silence for a long moment.

Re: Gordon (Sponge)

I already dislike this woman. Uppity and so "Miss Know It All" like. As a kid, he hated bullies, he didn't have the guts to stand up for himself. But now since he's gotten older, he's loved to be an asshole right back to people like this. It was sort of a game for him. He usually lost, but when he did win it felt so great. He would usually be shy around a woman with this kind of body, but considering he'd already lost any attraction to her by seeing her attitude, this would just be a whole lot easier for him to deal with. This is going to be fun.

"What can I do? I'm just going to do the best I can. I may not be able to fight you in one on one combat as you have much more experience then I do, but there were a couple things on my mind when I saw you."
Now for the fun stuff.
"First off, I already think I'm more appropriately dressed for combat then you are, that's for sure. It's cold outside too with all the fog, so you sure you won't stand at attention should something happen right outside? Cause if your trying to seduce them or get raped, then I can confidently say that strategy will work. If not, then you might want to reconsider your outfit. And from what I can tell these monsters and demons don't respond to physical objects like normal people would, a sword and bow that is. Magical energy seemed to be more effective when I was fighting one. So unless those are enchanted you might want to reconsider your weaponry."

Re: Gordon (Sponge)

Deana tilted her head, taken aback but also slightly bemused.

"The way I dress is none of your concern! And the way you speak of rape in such a light-hearted tone is both crass and ignorant! As for your presumptions about the effect cold steel has on the demons..." she shook her head. "You obviously have no clue what you're talking about."

Turning to Lauralie. "This is your savior? Hmmph. You can have him. I'm getting my things together and I'm going out to solve this problem the way it should have been a long time ago!"

With that she gives Gordon a dark glare and exits the cottage, pushing her way through the other women, who try not to make eye contact with her lest they anger her further.

"You needn't have lashed out at Deana, Gordon," said Lauralie, in between sips of her tea. "She's a good girl, strong and impulsive, but she has suffered and lost much over these past months - and no one save for her missing brother has done more to stave off the attacks of the demons. She wants to run off and defeat the monsters by herself if need be, and I told her to wait until you showed up. I did not foresee that you two would not get along... perhaps you should go after her?"

Re: Gordon (Sponge)

As she left, he felt like he had won the argument. He got the proud uppity bitch to leave in a fury. People who were so prideful disgusted him, so he got a sick pleasure out of shattering their false image of being superior to others. He started to laugh, not a chuckle but a genuine laugh of amusement and entertainment. However, his enjoyment was suddenly halted after what Lauralie said to him. A couple sentences being the ones that hit him the hardest.

"She has suffered and lost much over these past months..."
Suffered? She.. well she didn't look like she was at all troubled. But-
"She wants to run off and defeat the monsters by herself if need be, and I told her to wait until you showed up."
Oh no... She's going to try to fight that crap by herself!?
He glanced over at Alicia, with somewhat apologetic eyes, but more so filled with shame. She didn't need to see that side of him, but yet already he has probably made her disgusted. A man making fun of a woman who lost their husband in the fog... only scum would do such a thing. But he didn't know, and it was clear Deana didn't like him already. He just wanted to show he wasn't intimidated by her.

Glancing about quickly, he grabbed his staff without a word and bolted past the other woman, running fast as he could hoping she hadn't gotten far.

Re: Gordon (Sponge)

He finds her striding away across the village green at a quick pace, her short skirt rippling in the wind, threatening to show off the lower curves of her ass, but not quite doing so. Her thigh high boots becoming muddy as she sloshes through the damp earth, heedless to the dirty pools.

She didn't slow down when she heard him trampling up behind her.

((Just fyi: I haven't mentioned that she has lost a husband. Also, she's not dressed like a slut, though she is showing off her thighs, midriff, and a bit of cleavage - it's more in line with standard female fantasy outfits. She's not in a chainmail bikini however or anything insanely gaudy. Also, I haven't given any indication that only magic works on the enemies. I figure you know this, but just wanted to make sure.))

((Well I figured ghosts, only magic would work. And I'm not sure what your definition of fantasy wear was so I was thinking like... bikini chainmail. And your right, brother not husband. It was good you did check XD))

Catching up to her, he continues to walk with her at her side. "Hey, hold on. Look I'm sorry for being an ass ok? You just didn't exactly roll out the welcome mat if you know what I mean. You can't seriously think you can destroy whatever the hell this is by yourself right?"

Re: Gordon (Sponge)

((Her garb is something similar to the Ragnarok Online Hunter ( ). Except that she's showing a bit of cleavage. Still, it's not slutty - just showing off her shape in the traditional way that most fantasy clothes tend to show off some flesh - even in non hentai games. Gordon's doing a nice job so far of blustering through things and making a lot of presumptions - but you shouldn't assume that anything is as it seems. And by the way, I've never confirmed that you were fighting ghosts - in fact I've told you otherwise on several occasions. XP ))
----------------------------
Deana shoots him a fiery look as she turns round on him.

"Oh, but I suppose you think you're the one to do it?! Some asshole stranger, champion to the Lady of Procrastination herself and her little misfit apprentice who have for month after month sat back, praying for us to do nothing while the last of our menfolk are captured and go missing?! Lauralie and Alicia have done nothing but hide in that stupid cottage, talking about how YOU are going to come and change everything."

She jabs an accusatory finger into his chest.

"You... a know it all mage who Lauralie clearly has wrapped around her little finger - or whatever pawn she's using to keep control over you. Well screw that! I'm done waiting and I don't have to sit back and let you save us! My brother taught me how to hunt, how to fight, and how to track. I've tracked the demons before during the night - Lauralie never wanted me to, said it was too dangerous, but I've done it. I'll force them to tell me where my brother is or die trying. Don't try stopping me."

She attempts to brush by Gordon.

Re: Gordon (Sponge)

(I kinda figured figures made from evil and fog would be considered a ghost... )

He allows himself to be brushed aside, but continues to follow. He wasn't going to stop her. One thing Gordon knew is that when a woman puts her mind to something it's almost impossible to persuade them.

Know it all? That's the impression YOU gave ME lady!

"Oh whatever! Me being the know it all! The moment you walked in the room you stared at me with glacier cold eyes, like you wanted to stab me on the spot. And you were the one who first questioned my abilities like you knew EVERYTHING about all this crap."
He suddenly remembered something he was told. Perhaps that would at least make her consider her actions.
"You know, your going the wrong way. Somebody in the town is doing this. I can't say who, but whoever it is would be the only person that would know how to find your brother. "

Re: Gordon (Sponge)

Deana stops several paces beyond him.

"Lauralie has been saying that for a while now. But does it really matter? What would she have us do? Go on a witch hunt? Persecute our own while the real enemy out there somewhere is laughing their heads off?"

Deana sighs.

"I can't stand inactivity. I can't stand waiting and waiting for something to change when it isn't. I'm sorry if you think me rude for not jumping for joy that a man has arrived to set everything right, just because Lauralie says so. I don't trust her, and if I don't trust her, then how can I trust you? The only person I could trust is gone, do you understand that?"

She turns around, and he notes that hot tears have begun to form in her eyes, though she seems to be fighting against them. Sniffing and rubbing a hand across her nose, her expression fights to harden once again.

"If you really want to help, then let's go now. You and me. There's some tracks that the feral demon's have left in the past week. We can find them, capture one, and question it until it gives us the information we want. We don't have to do things Lauralie's way."

Re: Gordon (Sponge)

He was amused when she stopped.
That stopped her. So it must of made some impact.

When she spoke, he wasn't expecting for her to be 'jumping for joy' as she put it. But at least some acknowledgement and gratitude would of been nice. He wasn't wanting anything in return for all this, so all he really could ask for was at least people to be appreciative of his aid.

But all the amusement he had been getting from their words of conflict vanished as she turned and looked at him. His confident smug attitude, his grin of victory, his eyes of amusement, all vanished in that instant. Tears were in her eyes. They weren't streaming down her face, but he could still see them forming.

He could only stare at her for a while, stunned by her sudden change of character. The cold bitchy girl had shown something she desperately had been trying to hide.
No, she wasn't hiding it. She was showing it the moment she walked through that door. She had a purpose that was constantly denied and after seeing such person, I'll admit I don't look like a fighter at all. She was waiting so long for a person that she thought on sight was just a joke.
In a way, it angered him. But also made him more determined. He wasn't going to let her think he was worthless, that she had been waiting for a good reason. She hadn't been wasting her time, in her state of anger she would of most likely got herself killed. He wasn't the best fighter, but he was there for backup, support when everything she lost vanished.

With a stern and face filled with purpose and determination, he nodded. "Allright, we'll try the direct approach your way. But if things get too out of hand, please don't go running into danger. I'll do my best to aid you. We'll find your brother. We'll find whatever is doing this. As long as we go into this thinking straight, this shit will be over soon enough."

Re: Gordon (Sponge)

Deana calmed herself and looked at Gordon warily, then she turned and waved for him to follow. Silently the trudged along for a ways, heading to the north end of the village, out of the clump of residential houses and past a small church. Off to his left, on top of a sparsely wooded knoll, Gordon saw an old wind mill, and beyond another copse of trees, he thought he could make out a larger building beyond it.

Deana caught him looking and after a few moments decided to explain. "Trish runs the mill, and beyond that Ursula and Valita work the small hold - as close to a farm as we can get around here. There are other farmsteads further west, but those were attacked by demons and destroyed. Besides, they were worked by men only, and there are none now that can work their lands. Any who would do so are too far away from the safety of the village."

After a few more minutes, they came to the edge of the thick woods on the northern side.

"The lycan demons once attacked the old mill to get at Trish, but Daniel and I had been patrolling and we fought them off. The next day we followed the trail they left to this point, and then beyond, into the woods." She indicated a knife mark at the base of a tree, so small it might not have ever been noticed unless you knew where to look.

"We left marks for ourselves as we followed the trail, so that we could use it again. It led us eventually to a lair, a cave that we believe the demons use during the daylight hours. We meant to gather everyone and strike out against the demons when they were unprepared, but Lauralie cautioned us to wait, saying that you would be coming. So we waited, and it was two nights later that Daniel was taken. After that, none of the girls were certain we could defeat the demons without him. So the idea was abandoned. But I've always wanted to to go through with the plan. I'm going to that lair, and you can come with me. We'll defeat the demons and make one of them talk."

So saying, she took out her sword and moved through the underbrush, motioning for Gordon to keep up. She seemed to move expertly through the woodland, making very little noise in comparison to Gordon, who seemed to trample on every dry leaf and snap every twig.

Re: Gordon (Sponge)

Barely keeping up, Gerran wasn't even able to get any real bearings of the environment. Every time he stopped to glance at something he would notice Deana moving faster and further ahead. The closest thing he got to look at was a wind mill.
Well if demon possess a windmill and attacks I'll make sure to call for Don Quixote.

Finally getting to the place, she explained to him the circumstances and current situation. He wanted to ask about the lykan's and such, but it was obvious she was way too concerned about what was going to happen up ahead. She wanted to get this mission of hers done quick and clean. Though he highly doubted that was how it was gonna go down. It was embarrassing though that he felt like he was actually trying to be stealthy while following her through the brush only ending up making the worst Sam Fisher in history. He quietly went along with her, not saying a word and just waiting for her command.

Re: Gordon (Sponge)

Wordlessly, the two made their way through the underbrush. Eventually, Deana motioned for him to be quiet and lower down to the ground. She lowered herself down as well and crawled to a small rise in the ground to peer over at a formation of rocks that rested just over the ridge. Gordon's eyes were drawn momentarily up her skirt, where he got a good look at her underwear riding high and tightly into her crotch. He blushed a little as inappropriate thoughts entered his mind with regards to the huntress. Moving up beside her to get a better look at what he should have been watching, Gordon accidentally knocked over a small rock which fell down and pattered against the stones below. They were overlooking some sort of old, abandoned quarry, and below them they saw several people, some men and some women, all of them seemed to be dressed in rags and looked rather dirty. At the fall of the stone, Deana grabbed him by the head and pushed them both flat against the earth, giving him a hard stare.

They stayed that way for a minute, barely daring to breath, when suddenly they heard a trampling coming up towards them from their right. Crawling backwards, Deana silently moved away from the ledge and got into a crouching position. Gordon looked back to her just in time to see one of the ragged looking men approaching Deana from behind. He was unarmed and lithely built, but his muscles seemed to be lean and corded, and he was as silent as a shadow. But nevertheless, Gordon had spotted him, and wouldn't have much time to do anything before the man was upon Deana - who had yet to become aware of her presence.

One thing bothered Gordon as he prepared to fling himself into action. The man's eyes were golden - very much like those of Alicia.

Re: Gordon (Sponge)

Seriously lady, put on some pants. His mind complained, trying to keep his thoughts on more important things then the tight ass of a huntress.

A rock tumbled down into a quarry, and he glanced over to see that Deana was observing a group of people that looked like poor peasants. He barely got to get a glance before Deana slammed him down to the floor. Again, he regretted being unstealthy like he was only making this worse for Deana. Maybe he should of stayed back. Observing while crouched, he heard something coming from behind. Glancing back he noticed somebody else trying to be stealthy, and seemed to be going after Deana!
I may not be stealthy myself, but I sure as hell notice things other people don't.
He had to do something, but if he made too much noise he'd blow their cover. And for another thing, he couldn't say for sure if the man had hostile intentions or not....

He whispered harshly "Deana, behind!" as he rushed and tackled the man back onto the floor, pointing the end of his staff at the mans throat, ready to jab and pierce his jugular should he try something. Glaring down at his potential enemy, he noticed that he had gold eyes. Just like... Alicia? That means...
Lycans

(I'm unsure if I could interrogate him in an attack sequence, so I'll only pull off this one action.)

Re: Gordon (Sponge)

Things started to happen quickly. Gordon got up and rushed towards the man who was rushing up to assault Deana. As Gordon ran up, the man changed his footing and crouching low, met Gordon's onrush solidly, standing his ground and clutching the mage in a standing clich from which neither was winning.

Then Gordon felt someone leap onto his back, and a pain in his neck from where he was being bitten. Apparently Gordon had only spotted one of two stalking attackers, and a feral looking gray haired girl was gnawing on him attempting to find his jugular with her teeth. The pain was immense and clinched as he was with the feral man, he couldn't defend himself very well.

Then the sound of a blade being drawn and arcing through the air came to his ears, aid with a howl of pain, the girl lycan on his back leaped away, tumbling and landing on her side, a nasty slice appearing on her back.

Re: Gordon (Sponge)

((hhm... I guess I'll post my intentions, and you can declare whether or not they actually work. Like how ending up in a stalemate instead of having my staff at his neck. Do I still currently lack any spells?))

His actions must of been predicted, it didn't play out in his head like he had hoped. Instead of pinning the man they were instead grasping each other. Before any other action could be taken he felt a sharp pain pierce his neck, his brain immediately screaming HOSTILE! Definitely hostile! OH hell I'm not going to change into one of them am I? Or does it work some other way?

Gritting his teeth from the pain, he was relieved to feel the pressure on his back give way, Deana must of heard him and was attacking whatever had struck from behind. Glaring at the monster in front of him, he tried to concentrate power into his tightening grip, refusing to let the monster free from his grasp and release an energy strike through his hands.

Re: Gordon (Sponge)

((I would prefer you make clear what you are attempting to do, but don't assume you're going to manage to instantly overcome even simple enemies. You're a beginning mage, and no, you don't have any spells yet. Just your attack.))
--------------

Gordon attempted to draw in his magical strength and shoot it out through his hands, but the Lycan seemed to understand what was going on and threw Gordon away into a tree, not hard enough to harm him, but creating enough space for the feral man to dodge the energy blast. Then his opponent rushed at him with vicious speed. Gordon noticed that the man's eyes were down during the bull rush, and spun away at the last second, letting the man ram himself into the tree, creating a howl of pain.

Meanwhile, the female lycan that had bit him growled at Deana, who swung her sword in a flashing arc, but the girl was ready for it, and lunged underneath the chop, tackling Deana to the earth, where she hit her head hard and grunted with the effort. Then the girl howled loudly and animalistically, and several more howls answered her from not too far away...

Re: Gordon (Sponge)

Grunting as he hit the floor, he cursed his slow ability at his magic skills. He still couldn't do anything worth while! He couldn't die before getting some damn spells.
Maybe their corpse will help me learn something. With a sick grin, he looks up to see the wolf charging him. Snapping out of it, he dodges in time, almost laughing and letting out a small chuckle as the wolf man held his head in pain. But he couldn't stand to watch, he couldn't let an opportunity to be let go, he was in pain and most likely wasn't concentrating on his enemy.

Gordan rushed from the floor, intending to charge up his energy for another hit.

Not wanting to waste his energy reserves unnecessarily, Gordon picked up his staff from the ground and thrust it in the direction of the male Lycan who was busy gripping his head and grunting in pain. Instinct seemed to drive the man however and he ducked to the side behind a young tree, whose trunk exploded in spectacular fashion from the blast Gordon flung at it. The man seemed to be on the defensive running around the young mage, trying to make targeting his spell blasts nigh impossible.

Meanwhile Deana and the wolf girl tumbled around on the earth, each in one anothers' grip, strangling and clawing at each other. The huntress earned a few claw marks on her cheeks and the lycan's tongue lolled out of her mouth as a hand grasped tightly at her throat.

Re: Gordon (Sponge)

Shit! He cursed in his head, gritting his teeth as he barely missed the monster, glancing his face away from the shattering tree as it burst into splinters. The wolf was agile, he was almost impossible to hit. The only time he was able to hit him was when the wolf was in close quarters. He also was still trying to get the hang of this mage thing, and hadn't exactly had much practice.
Fine, if I can't hit you, I'll hit somebody else. He heard grunting and struggling behind him, seeing Deana and the Wolf lady struggling in eachother's grasp.

He attempted to charge and stab the wolf woman with his staff and releasing energy into the bitch, momentarily ignoring the wolf man since he knew hitting him at this time would be nigh impossible. He just had to make sure to turn on the defensive if he decided to strike, but that would pull him into close quarters allowing him to get off another chance at hitting the beast.
