"I...know..." Mary says, her voice slightly weak.

Giving birth to the slime was not what she expected, however, she was not about to complain about it not being painful, she was quite relieved that the worst of it was a strange and disquieting feeling.

"But...I didn't want to leave you to get raped by the monsters again...I didn't feel I could let that happen."

Mary slowly gets up, getting her strength back, before trying to scrub away the dirty clout that had gathered with magic, then getting herself another set of clothes.

I would rather get raped by the monsters than to have to watch you get raped by them... Aly said, standing slowly and looking a bit dejected. I wish I could have helped more.

Meanwhile, Mary felt that she had been so horrible at using her magic that she had, in fact, learned how not to cast magic. At the very least, she felt that this would narrow down her possibilities. She also felt that she was getting better at wielding her staff as a weapon.

When the two have gathered themselves, they find that they are in a sort of hallway. There is only one path; forward. Going back to the slime's breeding chamber is not an option.

Mary gives a faint smile at her new friend. "It's fine...I know how you feel, it's exactly the same from this side. If only I could have beaten them."

Mary gathers her wits, and not, after learning very well how not to hit a target, felt she could do better. "I wonder if I learned any spells..." She thought, pondering about it and what she could do with her magic, and honestly, how it even worked.

Aly remained blissfully unaware of Mary's predicament as she leaned in to examine the crucifix. Umm... It doesn't look like anything special, but it feels like it's something holy. If you're good enough you might be able to cast holy magic with it.

As she thinks about it, suddenly a small shard of bright light appeared in front of her and shot off into the wall, piercing deep into the rock. Aly clapped and said you can! That's great!

"Now if only I could...you know...aim." Mary thinks to herself before putting the newly useful attack item somewhere easy to reach in case she needed it.

"Well, might as well get a move on then, right? No point standing around." Mary chipped as she decided to press forward, who knew what lurked ahead that she might find fun...maybe she'd hit something.

When Mary opens the chest, she finds that it seems to be filled with a shallow pool of slime. She backs off a bit, and the slime suddenly begins to writhe and morph, until it rises up above the rim of the chest, with the form of a young woman. A HUMAN!!! it shouts, though its voice is strange. In fact, there are two voices, one male and one female, though they are not perfectly in unison; the female voice speaks just a second before the male one, giving an eerie feel to the thing. And a female NO less... The voice also seemed to waver strangely and mispronounce many of its words. It has been MANY years since a HUMAN female has wandered by here. Males sometimes pass by, and they PROVIDE sustenance... but it has been years since I have been ABLE to BREED... The slime edged towards Mary, clearly appraising her hips. Yes, YOU will be SUFFICIENT. It recoiled back towards its chest, and said but I will NOT force YOU. I am NOT like the BARBARIAN monsters in this cave. If YOU will bear me an OFFSPRING, I will grant YOU a skill...

Aly jumped back and readied her sword. Do you really think we can trust it? The slime was visibly annoyed at this, and it replied back I will KEEP my word. If YOU DOUBT me, YOU can open my chest at ANY time. I am NOT built for FIGHTING. The slime and Aly both turned to look at Mary, both almost pleadingly.

Mary was quite speechless at the slime. It was a tempting offer, more power for bearing it's offspring? But Aly didn't trust it, probably with good reason, but it seemed that the slime really wouldn't force her...which was nice.

She needed more time to think about it, she finally decided. And the chest slime...probably wasn't going anywhere...

"I um...need to think about it? Does that offer have a time limit?" she said after a little while, trying to keep her voice from being shaky.
