A) Take her along, we can always use her to forcefully convert people to our side later. Yay for Jiang Shi spreading like a virus.

(A)

Someone may be a bit miffed about having someone steal their zombie guard dog, but oh well, she's our zombie girl now.

Re: Touhou CYOA - Second edition

Those extra e's in 'something else' tempt me to say something stupid like "let's steal the statue of Bishamonten." I suppose I can abstain from a kleptomania vote for once, at least. >.>

What harm could there be in having something that hungers for life essence tagging along?

(@Hafnium: the extra e's were there in a "braaaaaaains" kind of manner, not as stupidity bait ^_^; But those durr votes coming up will be pretty inevitable with a certain ⑨ on the voter list....)

Not sure how good an idea it might be, Byakuren still agreed to the undead girl's request of companionship. "You need a name, something to call you as. Surely you had a name sometime in the past?" she talked to her, poking a finger onto the amulet once more to get some hints towards this girl's true name. A moment of mental communication later, she heard a faint voice respond, getting the information she was looking for. "Yoshika? It's a nice name, you should be proud." were the mage's words before she withdrew her finger from the paper amulet. With the name issue cleared, there was a new, if small issue. Yoshika couldn't fly. This didn't stay an issue for long however, as the former monk cast a support spell on the newfound companion, making her trail behind when they took off towards the skies. Offering a final small prayer to Lord Bishamonten, the two exited the shrine and rose towards the azure heights above.

Within her current vantage point, Byakuren could easily find the mountains where their destination was. Seeing it best to make it back as soon as possible, the pair zoomed away towards Youkai mountain.

On the mountaintop tournament grounds, it looked as if the challenge battles had kicked off in full. Upon the spot where the imposter had been previously, there was the real Yama, observing the fight between Youmu and Momiji. It seemed to be a contest of skill with the sword, as neither female was flying or firing at each other. The only weapons they used were blades and combat techniques. But there was no time for Byakuren to look at them for too long, as her group appeared from the crowd and immidiately surrounded the mage. All of them welcomed her back with more or less concern, but the crew was most prominently happy about seeing her still alive. Even Komachi waved at her from her position near Shiki upon seeing her return. It seemed all was well once more.

With the exception of one member of the group, the companions began to wonder and make contact with who they discerned as being a new addition to the team. But Shou had other things in mind. She lifted up her spear, pointing it squarely at Byakuren. "Byakuren-sama, there is still the unsolved issue between us. Please, let us solve it now, in this sacred arena." the tiger youkai pleaded, despite her somewhat showy attitude. There was no doubt in the mage's mind about what the answer should be. "Let's clear this now. I'll get myself checked briefly at Eirin's, you inform the Yama that we'll be taking a spot in the arena."

After having her foot looked at and cured quite fast by the super-skilled Eirin and her medicines, Byakuren headed back to the arena's edge, finding Shou waiting. As she entered inside the octagon of pillars, the mage heard Shiki's announcement. "This match is nothing more than a friendly contest between two people. There is nothing at stake here, so enjoy the spectacular battle to come." she gave her judgement. With a confident expression, Shou set herself in a battle pose, spear held steady.

A. Do this offensively

B. Keep more on the defense

C. Some other ⑨ thing?

Insert something about Shou being the disciple of Bishamonten and somehow correlating that to being a reason to UNLEASH THE FURY on her here!

C) Shou is a skilled warrior after all, going all out on offense might just shift the fight in her favor, fight back but hold back enough to be ready for a possible opening in her style and then abuse that to strike her down. If all else fails, spam Youkai Jesus Zen Palm Strike!

Re: Touhou CYOA - Second edition

(BRAAAAH WARHAMSTER REFERENCE! KHORNE! BURN MAIM KILL!)

Having had the pleasure to spend time with Shou before, Byakuren knew quite a lot about the tiger youkai's tactics and abilities. She was not a strong enough melee fighter to stand toe-to-toe with the likes of Meiling, Yuugi or Youmu, but there was still a good amount of techique and strenght behind that spear. There was an unknown factor in this battle though, as Shou had that strange miniature pagoda thing with her. The mage had no exact idea what the item actually did, but she assumed it being a power booster at least. A modicum of carefulness had to be maintained, but offense was still the main thing she would go for.

The exchanges between them were small in scale initially, with both women testing the waters for reactions. Shou had learned patience since their initial times together, and this showed in her style. The disciple's approach was much more restrained than her previous mad rushes. Worse yet, she seemed to have memorized how Byakuren's shot patterns went, as she was breezing through them like nothing. Despite the friendly aspect of their match, the mage was not going to go easy on her most trusted companion, and applied increasing amounts of magical power. But even this increased spell power was not getting things done, as Shou had even the powered-up spells memorized to a tee.

"Enough kiddy gloves, Byakuren-sama. About time I showed you what I've learned since we went our separate ways." the tiger youkai eventually called out to Byakuren, moving the spear to her left hand while she produced the pagoda from her sleeve. The wondrous object began to shed a divine light, a detectable stream of magical power starting to flow out from it. It was this power that Shou harvested, turning it to a weapon. Despite having to make the required gestures, she still evaded all the time while performing them with the tip of her spear. "Do I have to wield the might of this scroll against you....?" Byakuren thought, not wanting to use the magic item against her companion, but she just might had to.

With the final notions complete, a brief flash burst from Shou's body, unleashing the magic all around them. "Now, know this new strenght. The favored spell of the disciples. SIGN OF LIGHT: ABSOLUTE JUSTICE!" came the announcement of the attack, with a raised spear. A brilliant ray of light shot down from the skies above, almost striking Byakuren down where she was. And it was not the last one, as more and more came after the first, in a torrent of unbridled divine power. The friendly competition had just kicked up to a much more high-powered bout than the mage initially was prepared for.

A. Close towards Shou, use the scroll

B. Keep the distance as it is, use the scroll

C. Close towards Shou, refrain from using the scroll

D. Keep the distance as it is, refrain from using the scroll

E. Some Aurani-tastic plan of baka powers and other things?

Re: Touhou CYOA - Second edition

I know she's using the pagoda and all but using a power boosting scroll feels wrong for some reason! Seems better to win or lose in this friendly match based on innate ability!

Plus, I've already got the Fist of the North Star theme going so...

Punch that tiger!
And then shed a manly tear!
C! Though also sort of E.

Re: Touhou CYOA - Second edition

"Hmmmm.. It's a mighty spell pattern alright. Though it does have a weakness..." Byakuren's thoughts raced as she kept herself from getting hit by the brilliant beams of light. Her choice of strategy was clear, and she could defeat this card without firing a shot of her own. But better safe than sorry, so she would need to make a distraction. "Shou, my dear companion, I don't need this booster to defeat you..."

With some quick evasive casting, the mage evoked her physical boost to bring forward the speed needed for what she had in mind. Invoking the effect under such pressure made it feel like the casting took forever, but it wasn't like Byakuren hadn't done it before. Soon the energy flowed freely through her frame, and the former monk moved onwards with her plan. Speeding up and aiming towards Shou with her air dash, she fired a wide barrage of minor bullets to cover up her following move. With the bullets shielding her from sight, the mage pulled off a steep dive. Even as she evaded the minor danmaku, Shou was easy prey once the spell in effect was not able to strike down on Byakuren. Even though the tiger youkai noticed the ruse, it was too late for her at that point. Deflecting the weak downward stab aimed at her to the side with her forearm, Byakuren smashed her palm into Shou's midsection, knocking the air out from her. The finishing blow came from the disciple's own spell, as a pillar of light struck her in the back, failing to hit the original intended target underneath her. Once the pagoda fell from the wielder's hand, the spell seized. Keeping Shou up with her other hand, the mage catched the falling artefact, not wanting to risk it breaking. With the disciple of Bishamonten on her shoulder, Byakuren exited the ring, leaving it to the next competitors.

Among the rest of her group now, Byakuren helped Shou down onto softer spot on the grass field. The disciple had gotten away from the battle with relatively light damage, but Eirin still came over to look at her. "Hmm, nothing serious. I'll just give her a little healing salve here...." the doctor told them among her inspections, flipping Shou onto her back and pulling up her shirt to be able to spread the salve properly.

Just then, the previously calm Yoshika began to move about in a manner that seemed something like nervousness. It was nothing to worry about first, but when the undead girl tried to get too personal with the nearby Ichirin, it was about time something was done. So Unzan manifested himself, grabbing the girl and holding her still. She wouldn't be able to touch him, with the nyuudou's vaporous body.

But this was a false assumption, and soon afterwards a slight grunt sounded as Yoshika bit off a part from Unzan's finger. The cloud-man was not willing to try that out again, so he assumed a smaller form. Still, the jiang shi was not satisfied yet, and seeked to get some more snacks.

A. Take her to the nearby wilderness to eat up on animals or something

B. Ask Eirin if she had something to help with the situation

C. Some other cracktastic idea?

C) Find Mokou, Kaguya or Cirno and feed them to her. It's not like they'll die from it.
