The fact that Silverfish can spawn near other Silverfish makes them certainly frightening...

Ya, the facts is simple: They're small, they don't do much damage, and they blend into the natural enviroment. The fact they are triggered both when dug into, as well as when thier fellows die... it makes one wish for a Minecraft Flamethrower >,>;

EDIT: This vid shows the effect a bit more clearer at times. It seems that if a Silverfish gets HURT, EVERY nearby silverfish block self-triggers. That by itself could be very annoying/painful, and makes me glad they're (as far as I know) a stronghold exclusive.
EDIT2: Indirect damage (falling and fire from say, flint and steel) doesn't seem to trigger the 'calling for help' effect. I guess that killing them with fire really IS the best way to do this :3

Hm. This calls for fire pits. Seems that netherrack may get important soon.

When is 1.8 supposed to be coming out again? It seems like creative mode may be the way to go for me.

Tomorrow hopefully. And I doubt we'll be having creative mode activated on the server.

If possible, I'll set up one world to use Creative, and one to use Adventure, but I know I'll be playing almost exclusively on the Adventure world. If it's not possible, there'll only be Adventure, but the old world(s) won't have the new blocks and such unless you go somewhere that hasn't been explored yet.

It's still 8 AM over here though. All depends really how many bugs the Leak/Prerelease showed that weren't allready fix'd

Notch is probably stuck in a staring contest with an Enderman and Jeb's fighting off a swarm of Silverfish. You reap what you sow.

(Actually, if I remember correctly, each of them developed the other mob...)

Hm. I can't seem to be able to connect to the server. I tried it over "Direct Connect" and "Add server", but it says it can't resolve the host name.

It's not the number of dead ends that is the issue. It is the saturation of cave systems beneath the surface. I remember my brothers telling me that they never finished lighting up all the caves beneath their spawn zone because they simply didn't end. The whole map was honeycombed with twisting passages, often only separated by a thin wall of coal, iron or gold. It didn't help that my brothers liked to take out all the gravel and dirt from caves as well.

I hope you didn't update to 1.8. That would prevent you from logging on. Or maybe Maiko is updating the server.

Double post, but this could be considered important. I've made a Google Doc of all the mods we currently have installed, it'll be updated whenever we get more. the list. I'll also be making a TinyURL of it and putting it up as a sign on the server so non-forumers can have access to it as well.

Thanks a bunch Oni. I never did install Minecart Mania, as its automation features, its main draw after the booster and break/station abilities, which were made obsolete by the booster/detector rails, would overlap many of the points of mcMMO.

Also, Fencestack has been removed ever since Notch made that possible by default. I'll come up with a comprehensive list once I update the server. Which brings me to...

The server is still running 1.7 right now. I'm not going to update it to 1.8 until Bukkit and most of the mods I plan on using are updated. This way people won't build their house, then new mods come along and they don't have room for the new stuff or they want to take advantage of the new stuff without destroying their old stuff and so make a new place. Also, it means that everyone experiences the world for the first time more or less together.
