Re: Games Discussion Thread

Stupid racist game. Playing an Argonian mage. Find one of those special masks that grants 100% extra magicka regen. Put it on and it chops off the front of my face like all the other helmets. Looks really wrong. Really good item, but don't want to use it. Annoying. Logically an Argonian wouldn't be able to wear it at all (unless wearing it as a silly hat would work?), but still annoying.

If you want to boost enchanting quickly enchant a weapon with a 1 sec soul trap effect, get a fuckton of petty/lesser/common soul gems and go around slaughtering everything that comes within reach. Then enchant all the jewelry you find. I got from about lv.25 to 55 doing that.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

I've got to lvl 68 doing the same thing so far (minus the soul trap weapon). Mages college has a lot of soul gems lying around and a massive amount for sale. One thing to note, is that certain enchantments are worth more than others whilst still using the same gem and item. Not sure if that effects the training rate or not like alchemy, but it is at least an extra boost to your income to check for the most expensive effects.

The best way to train enchanting from what I've read, is to get a soul trap weapon, and Azura's Star. The star being a special infinite soulgem that doesn't get consumed/destroyed by enchanting or charging items with it. Charging items gets you enchant skill. Thus, kill a mook with your soul trap weapon, using some charges, recharge with Az's Star, repeat.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

I went one step further and upgraded it to the Black Star. And all I've been doing with my enchantments is enchanting stuff with fortify block, I'm not really fussed on whether certain enchantments can give me a slight boost to exp gained so long as I max my level eventually.

So, has anybody else met the headless rider yet?
He just showed up on a road I was travelling on. Unkillable, unstoppable. I followed him all the way from Rift to a graveyard near Whiterun. Near one of the coffins, I found this.

Fuck the special stages in Sonic Heroes. I'm still not sure how I got all the emeralds last time, three left and it's leading me to pulling out my hair. The physics are a fucking mess. At least I've finished the four main stories already.

See, there's your problem. You're playing Sonic Heroes. The only thing good about that game was Metal Sonic being in it.

Nah. The Gamecube version is mostly free of glitches and is pretty fun, but those damn special stages...

Re: Games Discussion Thread

So, Skyrim has left me feeling empty inside... protip, do all those mildly pointless side-quests first! Having completed all the guilds main-quests as well as the faction quest (seriously, this was the most under-whelming of them all after whiterun) and the main story. Found all the daedric 'artifacts' too.

I find myself feeling like there's no point in continued play. My gear's already beast from max enchanting and smithing. Gold has absoloutley no use to me, I've had 200k sitting in my inventory for almost half the game. And I've got all the words.

I could try to get to max level in everything... but why? TBH the level system is kinda dumb, you get more xp for using a weapon that does shitty damage than a good one since it's based on the number of hits. Magic actually does LESS damage per point of mana as you get stronger spells (I expect that holds true for schools other than destruction as well) and tbh the limited amount of spells is saddening, lol almost EVERY lighning spell uses the EXACT SAME ANIMATION, and let's face it the exclusion of a spell-crafting system really hurt this part of the game.

I've thought about doing another playthrough, with a different style, but unfortunately max enchant and smith allow you to completely ignore all your other skills and play any way you feel like it. I've run through dungeons filling every corner with lightning at no mana cost, I've snuck past groups of enemies and slaughtered them all from the saftey of the next room with arrows, I've charged into battle with wanton abandon towards my health. I guess the lesson here is to ignore these skills altogether in the future.

Now please don't mis-understand, I do love this game, it's definately the game of the year hands-down with no competitors what-so-ever. However, now that I'm done with my first playthrough I'm left with all this... want. Maybe that's the way a good game should leave you feeling (I know it's a buisnesses wet dream), or maybe continued patching and DLC will help allieviate that (the story certainly doesn't seem over, and honestly, the last boss was barely even a fight, took out 1/4 my health then I elemental furied and carved a Dhavokiin shaped hole through him).

I don't remember oblivion leaving me feeling like this. I think I'll go back and play through that again.

TL: DR BOO I abused enchan/smith and skyrim went too fast!

Demons Souls. Class: Wanderer. I have upgraded my curved blade (or falchion) twice and Ive been enjoying its combat style. However, on the way to the Tower Knight boss fight, It breaks....Fuck. I had upgraded that weapon twice and I'm very proficient in it. The only other weapon i have is a winged spear. However, I'm not strong enough to hold it and a shield. So i just Use it two handed. Leather armor, hard leggings, and i charge in to meet the tower Knight. i run straight to him, dodge rolling beneath his legs and rushing up the stairs to kill the readied archers. Murdering them isn't easy, since i swing the spear slowly with a power attacks, so i have to poke them to death while the Knights bombarding me with his lance throws. Eventually i get them down and i rush down to meet the knight. I dizzy him by rolling through his legs and confusing him, and i begin poking his heels with the spear. Crap damage, it takes 5 minutes to take out both heels, and hes on his ass. LUCKILY, the damage is so enhanced on his face that it doesn't matter, i begin slamming his head constantly, doing great damage. I rinse and repeat previous strategy, dodging the massive shock waves from his feet and his shield slam, and i eventually triumph Holy shit i can't believe i managed that.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

i NEED to find my psp and finish that goddamn game...its the only reason i haven't moved on to the other disgaeas. I have a strict policy to NEVER go out of game order until they are finished chronologically.

I have it on my PS3 downloads for my PSP. i wish i could just play it on my ps3.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

None of the Disgaea games have anything to do with each other. Sure, they're set in the same universe and Etna is a main character in the second one, but aside from a small section in D2 that's clearly just NIS tying the Laharl and co. into the story because they can none of them connect to each other. Before I got Skyrim I was playing Disgaea 4 quite a bit, and my god that is such a fun game.

Ive heard about the Stories and such. Im Just really OCD when it comes to playing games. I always have to beat the first one. Same with all genres of games. In fact, Thats why i love FF1 so much more than the others. I actually felt the lack of Huge Story made it better. yes im crazy.

FF1 is my favourite pre-7 FF. Partly because it doesn't hold your hand to get you through the game and partly because ENTIRE TEAM IS RED MAGE.
