Re: Games Discussion Thread

I had a PSN card with $20 on it. So, I used it. Costs than $5 and comes with armor.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

Could be worse. Could be Duke. AGAIN.

Though I heard with Duke it was because they didn't want to compete with all the stuff coming out in May.

ME3 is probably because someone fucked something up, or, more optimistically, they found something awesome that they decided just HAD to be in the game.
Or it could be something else entirely.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

Well, after putting quite a couple of hours into the game, I can safely say that those that loved Assassin's Creed II will love Assassin's Creed Brotherhood. It's not just more of the same like many people claimed. You can, for example, leave the Animus whenever you want and get to know the other Assassins better (whose party banter is almost as good as the one in DA II), and the ability to recruit Assassins and send them on missions is a nice change. You can also collect items and sell them in shops or exchange them in order to unlock better armor, weapons and other goodies.

There are a few downsides though. The controls on the PC are a bit awkward, with no less than four action buttons, which are E, left mouse button, shift and space. On some occasions the textures of buildings are flickering, and generally the game looks less impressive on the PC than it does on consoles (I'm comparing it to AC II, which I played on a friend's PS3). Also the games is really bad with using visible invisible walls to limit where you can go, which can be extremely annoying when you can't reach a view point in the area because you can't reach it by 10 feet.

Also it absolutely consumes both time and any other needs you may have, so watch out. (I haven't masturbated since I started playing on my birthday.)

Re: Games Discussion Thread

Hrm, not sure if I agree entirely.

Firstly, the controls on the PC have remained constant from the first AC, so if you're used to playing it on PC you'll be fine.

Secondly, I haven't managed to really get myself immersed in the storyline as much as I did in ACII. It might just be me though, I've just had less attention for games lately, nothing holds my interest etc.

But the multiplayer. Oh the multiplayer. They've done it supremely well, gamemode wise. The matchmaking system is a piece of crap that leads to 30-45 minute periods of me sitting there waiting for a match but this in and of itself speaks of how much I enjoy the matches.

Bought Bulletstorm today and I'm enjoying the hell out of it. The only problem is the lack of health meter. I'm not really fussed on the whole 'screen changing colour' to show how much damage you've taken.

Yeah, the lack of health meter is pretty standard fare these days.

I enjoyed Bulletstorm, but I found towards the end I kinda... stopped enjoying myself so much. The last few levels almost felt like it was just dragging on, and it really doesn't go over well for just shooting people.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

You never know, it could be because they want to implement a multiplayer system.
They've already said there isn't going to be multiplayer in ME3. It was in a recent post, I can probably find it somewhere.

Well, it came up a few times before. Plus, ever since EA took over... you REALLY never know.

@ SirOni... I don't know. I just remember watching an interview where they said they discussed it and it was still possible, but not to give our hopes up. I'm just stressing that possibility. Eh whatever...

Yeah they said something about it at the beginning but now they're saying there isn't going to be multiplayer in ME3. I have heard a rumour about a possible ME FPS though. Not sure if it's a good idea though.

FPS sounds interesting. Anything that gives us more opportunities to explore the ME universe, then rock on.

Now that I think of it, I would kinda despise multiplayer just because it feels like it would diminish the title ME built for itself, which to me, was about creating a grand personal story. You bring in other players in any way and your personal story doesn't feel so personal anymore.

If you want me meat to the universe then read the books. They're pretty good. The comics are good too, though I think there's only two; one that shows how Cerberus gets Shepards body and one that explains the background of The Illusive Man. Who happens to be part Husk.

The Illusive Man is part husk? Now I gotta find out how this works out.

Yeah, it's shown in the 4 part comic Mass Effect: Evolution. Explains how Saren's brother is killed and his hatred for humans formed as well.

This was suspected for quite a while, so I'm not really surprised. Still curious, though.

I must now read it. Damn... more stuff to add to the pile.

If I can find the ones I've downloaded I'll rar them up and upload them for you.

@Riposte: Yeah, I regret handing over the Collector ship to Cerberus now. Especially since they're after Shepard's ass in ME3.

I didn't hand it over to him simply because I didn't like the guy.
He seemed like such a complete ASS, I was just waiting for the perfect 'middle-finger' moment. So that last decision made me smile with glee.

Of course, he'll probably all the angrier at me in ME3, but meh.
