Re: Sengoku Rance
so the walkthrough doesnt really give a good walkthrough... or strategy, more of an "if you do this..." or "look for these commanders".
on my first game i got up to turn 95 and then hit a stalemate with the demon army so even if i took a city i wouldnt be strong enough to hold it and they could take territory without wasting turns fighting for it which quickly let them outnumber me.
so i restarted and by turn 20 i had the ninjas, the fish man, hara, and was warring those raccon dogs which for some reason they were making enough money to heal their units 2 or 3 times per turn, hire 3 commanders per turn and attacking 2-3 times with the same commanders each battle and this continued to the point all my armies had less then 100 units and i had to war that religious group...so i was more then a little fracked and now restarting.
what should i try doing so i dont get fracked by the demon army?
Okay, first of all, the enemy kingdoms cheat. Or rather, are playing by different rules to you. Most likely because you're a filthy foreigner. So ignore what they can do in a turn.
The next golden rule is never force a surrender unless you're fighting on too many fronts and are spread too thinly.
The third golden rule is to avoid having this happen when possible. A good way to do this is to avoid declaring war on people, as most will declare on you, except being going to war with Hara in turn 2.
Collect special characters, they tend to be awesome. Try to take over the rifle kingdom asap because the sniper girl there is possibly the best.
Remember that you can spend your gold to increase max troops in a unit.
Don't worry about peasant revolts, when you're fighting the tenshi sect. When they hit 100%, you have a battle against about a single peasant mob, which even a solo archer unit can usually beat; it's not worth wasting the action fans to put down the revolts.
Get actions fans asap.
Get reinforcements from Leazus and Zeth asap.
Expand at a constant rate. You should aim to conquer a town every turn.
When you get the special permits, equip them asap; they're awesome. You might think "How can 1 unit take territory" but they will right until the final stage of one.
I'm not sure what other general tips I can give, individual battle styles differ from person to person.
