The magic always in the atmosphere will corrupt it into some kind of mamono. Moreover, you'd be ill advised if you made a very large familiar, as you'd be very weak if not unconscious from the endeavor. This is why imps are popular, but mimics are sometimes made too.

Why isn't binding a familair more popular? Especially with male magic users. It sounds like the soul bound and artifiacial versions would be a constant use of magical energy. Likely draining, and unappealing.

Because you have to let your demonic familiar fuck you for energy on a regular basis anyway. Same energy spent, +sex that may (make that would under MAF) result in enslavement by a mamono.

The soul bound familiars are more popular than the artificial ones because it's immensely less draining to have a familiar like that active. However, these kinds of familiars are immensely less useful because the summoner usually is controlling the familiar themselves the whole time, and the familiar cannot leave from a certain distance due to how they are bound.

And yes, an artificial soul is far more likely to, when feeding off of her master for energy, to get the idea that she should be the master. When the master is male, this idea is far more common to occur in artificial familiars, unless the male summoner is a master of his craft and knows how to make every single one of his threads work just right, and that's not easy at all.

True enough. Honestly the kherpi would be the best if you dont mind being transformed into an incubus. Thunderbirds are good as long as you can get a break from sex. But still not so sure about having to spend whole life inside of the sand worm.... Personally at least, I'd want to get out and do other things, see the world, etc. *shrug* :-/
