Re: [Tit Dang] Windranger's wanderings
I didn't want to give the players rude naked scenes at the very start. Also I don't like when player gets the scenes due to his fails. I wanted to explain it in such point. Maybe I'll rework it after your comments and add any nice art, but I really think player shouldn't get everything on a silver platter.
What kind of scenes do you want to see?
Well, that's just it i suppose. The kinds of scenes I'd want to see is failure. I'm thinking we have a pretty big ideological difference here, so I'm probably not gonna be too hopeful that you'll change things. And honestly thats fine, might just not be a game for me. I'll give you my thoughts though. Personally, I don't see anything wrong with failure scenes. They're a staple of the genre basically, and typically they're the main draw for me in H-Games. When i got to the end of the prologue and saw all the Kobalds i got excited. I had guessed as soon as i saw all the enemies that it would be the "fight but you lose anyway/scripted" kinda fight. So i was expecting a scene there, and then disappointment. Especially with the Kobald Foreman's dialogue about not killing her. "More useful to us alive" in this kind of game is usually a pretty clear indicator that some sex will be happening if you're defeated. And i suppose that's part of why it was such a big let down for me. Maybe you were implying that they would use her for labor or something. I interpreted the dialogue as an implication of gratuitous amounts of fucking though. You teased me, whether it was intentional or not, with no payoff.
It doesn't even necessarily need to be player failure. You could have scenes where our character "loses" that are progression based if you're really against failure scenes that much. Just as an example: Have a boss like the cobald one somewhere in the game. When you win the fight it goes back to the "overworld" and you get a cutscene basically. The leader is backed into a corner and the main character is about to deliver the final blow, and then reinforcements show up and ambush/capture her. We get a nice gang scene and then after that you can free her somehow. Hell, you could make it some kind of puzzle sequence for her to escape and recover her gear after she recovers from exhaustion.
Also, i don't see the failure scenes as just handing it to the player on a platter. You could make it so only bosses have the scenes, which was originally what i thought you were going for. There are games I've enjoyed that have done that. Losing to normal enemies is a game over, but bosses give a scene before reloading. Granted, i would prefer every enemy to have a loss scene, but I've been ok with that as a sort of compromise in the past. Make the bosses challenging enough so that you probably wont win on your first try. That way the player goes in actually trying to win each time and still gets the scene. No need to purposefully lose.
Just as it stands now, all the scenes I'm seeing are basically prostitution, groping, or voyeurism. And don't get me wrong, those are fine. Typically for me though those aren't the main draw. They're nice as extras on the side. As crude as it is to say, I wanna see our heroine get raped. And like i said before, if that's not really what you're going for, then it might just not be the game for me.
Now though, getting away from opinions. Any input on the magic? Still wondering about that. Quoting myself from earlier.
I'm not sure if I'm missing something with the magic abilities though. They don't really seem to be working. Windrun and Shackleshot don't seem to get their extra benefits after successful QTEs. I like the concepts for them. When they're working it could make for some fun encounters. As far as i can tell though, they're busted right now. Just an example; i use Shackleshot on an enemy, the arrow/z/x prompts pop up, i get all of them and it gives me the second shackle message. There should be a second bound enemy at that point, but there isn't, only the targeted enemy gets hit.
I replayed the prologue to do some more testing. Shackleshots extra bind worked when targeting the Kobald Foreman. It doesn't seem to activate on the normal kobalds though. Still not sure about Windrun. It looks like it stays active for one round of attacks no matter what happens with the QTEs.
