Re: Multiplayer Gaming

Maybe not even that really if any of the speculation behind the next update is true. Apparently Engineers will be getting robots that can be equipped with flame throwers.

Re: Multiplayer Gaming

This thread stands a testament as to why I haven't played TF2 in months.

Re: Multiplayer Gaming

I love their class change ups and how everything is practically checks and balances with each other, but it shouldnt keep falling back to the same class. It shouldn't just be a rock paper scissors where pyros are the ultimate spy defense. If demos are supposed to be defense, then switch their melee with the pyro. Give the pyro the pain train and give the demo the homewrecker with sap destroying ability.

But demomen aren't defensive. At all.

SR demos, sure. But no other type of demo is considered defensive.

Actually
with special guest cameo by me in the video

I just think giving the demo the homewrecker would be a good idea cuz it gives you another option on how to play it while pyros already have a reason to be around sentries. And putting it into another characters hands? I don't know, I'd want it to be someone a bit slower because you wouldn't want them to be able to get there quickly. I'd think about giving it to snipers because they usually stay back anyway, and they already have a "feud" with spies themselves, but considering the smg is three pieces of shit, having a good melee weapon is important for snipers, and a weak homewrecker would be a problem.

You play so much TF2, and yet you don't even look at it. Haven't you noticed the class line up?

Offense- Scout, Pyro, Soldier
Defense- Demoman, Heavy, Engineer
Support- Medic, Sniper, Spy

Even though no one plays Demo defense, it's still officially a defense class.

Re: Multiplayer Gaming

Are you being serious? I can never tell. Also, you got the order wrong.

But seriously, if the demoman was defensive, he wouldn't be played competitively. The demoman is one of the most powerful offensive classes and Valve has failed to realize this. Just because he has stickies doesn't mean he's defensive.

Whaaat

The eyelander and targe are perfect examples of demoman's defensive role.

Because, people in your base are usually very far away from you.

Re: Multiplayer Gaming

I'm with obe. The demoman can take punishment, but his role makes him practically one of the most integral points AGAINST a good defense, vis-a-vis, offense. And considering the pyro can't really push and they took away the pyros offensive ability for reflecting, the pyro has now been boosted as a defensive character.

Now I'm still under the impression that the demo-pyro paintrain-homewrecker switch would be a good idea. Does anyone else have any ideas on who should get the homewrecker since it really shouldn't be the pyro?

Re: Multiplayer Gaming

You're all idiots. Demos are primarily meant for defense. They wouldn't make an area denial class then call it offense, now would they?

Re: Multiplayer Gaming

You're such a troll darkfire. :(

Demoman is op in that he's the most versatile class in the game and does literally everything well.

Offense? Take a look at some comp gameplay
Defense? Stickies
Assault? Sticky jumping

In toxic's words, enough demomen can solve anything. Literally any team make up is made better if you replace it with all demomen and maybe a medic or engineer for heals and ammo.

Re: Multiplayer Gaming

It doesn't matter if he's capable of offense. Medics can become battle medics if they want to. Why don't you classify them as offense then? Same with demos. They're defense. Everyone just plays them offensively.

Re: Multiplayer Gaming

Maybe it's because I've never fought with pro scouts as demo, but a couple well placed stickies usually keeps the scouts from biting...

Stop trolling..

... *sigh*
The difference is, demomen EXCEL at offensive whereas medics don't... I'm taking the bait here but whatever.

And to incubus, scout is a hard counter to demoman, true, but that doesn't mean that they're incapable of having a fighting chance. A few well placed pills, a small sticky carpet, an airblast sticky or two, even a REALLY lucky melee strike can ward off a scout.

Re: Multiplayer Gaming

Medics can excel at offense too. It's just that people don't take advantage of it. Similar to how people take advantage of Demo's offense capabilities. It's just that they realize it more for Demo than they do for Medic.

you... *sniffle*.. you remembered my phrase?

I take advantage of medics offense. And technically they're a support class through and through, but they support OFFENSE while a sniper is a support defense. Either way, both characters are best for support. Ubering is a great offensive tactic and if that medic isn't looking for a demo, they're doing it wrong. Demos, because of stickies, don't have to ACTIVELY play defense. They are area denial, but it doesn't mean they have to be there. Place a few stickies down to cover the back and then they rush forward. I see a lot of people do that, and that's the reason I think a demo homewrecker is a great choice, because then it gives them the idea that they can or maybe should play back a bit.
