I laughed at that scene so hard.
(Videogame fanboy mode) BLASPHEMEH!

(Standard mode) Pardon me. He slips out sometimes. Back on topic, I kinda did cry from that scene. And Halo really is too fucking overrated.

Agreed. Ryu just exuded genuine badass in everything he did. The story was honestly ridiculous, but it still managed to make the nonsense look awesome with every turn. I've sadly yet to play Ninja Gaiden 2, but the combat is without a doubt the best I've seen. It made you feel like a real over the top ninja. The fights could often end up looking like things were to hectic for the player to be in control, but not so. It never got you stuck in irritating end of move animations, and the enemies had none of the strange politeness seen in so many other games. They simply go at you all at once, and the game says to you "deal with it". Staying alive took literal split second reactions, but when you really got into it, it all became natural. When I played Dynasty Warriors for the first time after having played Ninja Gaiden it just felt wrong. Why is everyone just standing there letting me kill them? Why can't I evade that slow strike I saw coming a whole half second ago.

Also, the Ryu in the craptacular Dead or Alive movie, should be shot like the pussy he is. (...or more fairly, the director.)
Well, all depends on which DW you're playing and which mode. Trust me, I've had plenty of instances where I haven't hit the ground for two minutes because the seven guys that are attacking me WON'T STOP! (Bastards!) Although I will agree with the lack of avoiding being hit. *They* can block my Musuo attack in the middle of it, but can I? Noooooo...

As for D.O.A., I was about to say "Fuck Uwe Bohl" but then I checked and he didn't do that one. Guess we can't blame all the craptacular video game movies on him.

I know, it's insane. I almost believe he could have actually made a better movie. I am dangerously close to the idea that Uwe Boll should have been given charge of a movie. The way the the director says he is a long time fan of the games in the making of is laughable. He literally twisted every single character inside out, removed all semblance of the source material, and generally got everything wrong. Even the easy bits, just plain wrong.

An example. Just one, or I be writing a rant all day. Have you seen it? If so do you remember that yellow track suit wearing guy in one of the early fights? He looked kinda like he was meant to be Jann Lee or something, though it turned out he was just some miscellaneous fodder thrown in to briefly lose a fight. Wanna know just who that guy was meant to be? It's obvious isn't it? Hitomi! Apparently in Japan there were a load disappointed that she didn't feature (not sure why), until a production team member leaked that this random guy, was actually meant to be Hitomi. Check the credits and a score board section in the film and you can see the name right there. The director apparently wasn't content reversing personalitys, changing character nationality, removing any hint of personal fighting styles, casting actors twice the age of their characters, or writing the stupidest plot ever. He actually went and switched the gender of the second most popular character, and gave them a 10 second losing sequence.

I just don't get why, practically every game to film conversion seems to deliberately set out to annoy the fans in particular. Why even base it on the game if that's your intention. Just make a generic cheep film without being "confined" by the setting of a game. This fool could have made the same movie, with different names used, and no one would ever notice any similarity to the games.

I think most of the people that played the game had a small lump in their throat when Aeris was murdered.
Aeris Dies?!

This is one game I'm waiting on, and guess what? KEFKA is playable! and from what I've read about it on some FF sites, there's even going to be some FFXII characters in it, not sure if they'll be playable and none are specifically mentioned, but I'm hoping for Balthier or Basche. Or Ashe, that would be awesome.

This. Though personally, I'm more interested in Warrior of Light and Garland in a tagteam match with Cloud and Sephiroth.

Personally, out of the later series characters that may get in there, I'd go for Balthere and Fran. Maybe Lightning and Yuna too.

I'm almost certain they've stated that there's going to be no FFXIII characters, which is a shame really, I'd have liked to see what they'd be capable of in Dissidia. And they've already got Sissy-boy Tidus to give support from FFX. Damn fool that he is.

Oh and our ol' boy Sephie has a shirtless variant, that'll please all the fangirls I'm sure. It's a shame they didnt have a Red Mage character in there, though honestly they wouldnt be able to put one in seeing as they're most predominantly linked with FF1 I'd imagine and FF1 already has the Warrior of Light. Oh and one of those midgets from FFXI is the 11th character for the good guys, so I'm guessing they're adding a secret 11th for the bad guys as well.

11... *HISS* That one doesn't even deserve the number of 11.

*necromances the hell out of this thread because he has a game to talk about*

I'm probably going to be set on fire for this, but I find Chrono Trigger overrated. As I played it I didn't find anything epic about it. It's not a bad game at all, mind you, but after all that hype I noticed, I was somewhat let down. I have seen far better. The orchestration especially is somewhat lacking.

I want to buy this on DS, but haven't really got the cash. I never really expect games to be as good as people say they are. I do this because people are fucking stupid, and I tend to disagree with what most reviewers say about games anyway.

It was basically Chrono Trigger on the go. Chrono Trigger = HUGE whenever it came out. Therefore Chrono Trigger DS = purely for nostalgia purposes, or for people who don't have an SNES anymore.

Which is why I got it! :D

Re: What's your most over-rated game? Most underrated?

Actually, if you can find it, Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy IV (I think. I was looking at the box funny) were paired together in Square's Final Fantasy Chronicles for the PS1, so if you have that or a PS2, it's available as well.

There's also the 'sequel' Chrono Cross, which, cinematically and musically, blew me away when I first played it. I never did actually beat the game (I got stuck and this was before I knew about Gamefaqs) and haven't been back, but I'm in the mood for high adventure again, so maybe I'll get back to some of my old RPGs.

I forgot about the Final Fantasy Chronicles thing. I still have that, I think.

And the intro to Chrono Cross was fucking awesome. I might start playing that game again.

The intro made me hunt down the soundtrack and buy it. First video game ST I ever owned. Also, I believe it's "Wind, Star and Wave" (which is a concert performed later on in the game) is freaking awesome, too.

For music, I just hunted down the 7th Legion soundtrack, and am now looking for Hexen II... both soundtrack and game.
