Re: Nym (Ranger9000)

"Thank you." Elsa nodded, just as Aisha arrived with breakfast. Bread, fried eggs with bacon, fresh tomatoes and cucumbers as well as some cheese. The goblins were quick to start eating their shares, showing no signs of being picky. "Do watch out for yourself, though. The goblins may not be malicious, but they're used to doing things their way and don't like to have their lifestyle challenged or critizied by outsiders. They might force you to accept some kind of demand before they listen to you, too. Probably nothing too big, like showing your worth in a contest, but you never know." She sighed.

"Either way, I've prepared a letter for their chief. He's a pretty good reader, as it turns out." Elsa continued, producing a small envelope and putting it on the table. "I'd like you to deliver this to him and tell him that we wish to apologize for our rude accusations. I'm hoping to arrange a meeting for this purpose, so we can talk this out and ensure that our relationship remains good. The letter contains details of my proposition. I'd like you to get a reply from him and bring it to me." The mayor explained. "It might be a good idea if you explain everything you've done for the sake of solving this mess to him as well. He'll probably think better of you if you do so, which should make talking with him easier."

Re: Nym (Ranger9000)

Nym would take to her food with more grace then the goblins, but she was still quite hungry, so she ate with some speed until she felt she had to answer Elsa, "That doesn't surprise me, I had to knock him out cold before they'd listen to me the second time," Nym pointed over at the spear goblin.

She'd then listen again and once Elsa passed her the note she wouldn't delay in picking it up herself and slipping it into her clothes for safe keeping. One problem with old times is a seeming lack of pockets for most people, and she really needed to get herself a backpack, "Sounds like a good idea, at the very least he hopefully can't really dismiss me out of hand after the help I've given." Once she had finished eating, and the goblins had too, Nym would begin herding the trio out onto their mission for the day, though she would need them to actually show her to the village as she only had the vaguest idea where it was.

Re: Nym (Ranger9000)

Just as Nym finished eating her meal, the door to the kitchen opened and Lissia walked in, looking a little tired. "Took me a good part of the night, but I'm done!" The tailor declared, proudly displaying Nym's original outfit for all to see. It looked like all the damage it had sustained earlier was fixed, including the wear and tear from the storm that left her shipwrecked. Now her outfit would probably be sturdy enough to withstand more than just a single tug before it fell apart. "No need to thank me, I was glad to be of assistance. Oh, and you can keep that dress too, you never know when it might come in handy." She'd reply if Nym attempted to thank her, the whole group of elves and goblins giving her some time to switch outfits before travel.

Once she was ready, Nym would find that in addition to a change of clothes, she was also provided with a bag she could put on her back to keep her stuff in as well as a belt and harness for her axe. Elsa would soon disappear after seeing her off, no doubt going back to attending her duties. Vali would give her a polite nod and a smile as she walked out the gate. Once she and the greenskins left the village, the goblins quickly took over as guides, leading her into the deeper parts of the forest. And once they've reached roughly the same spot where Nym met the trio, they've made contact with other goblins.

Nym's group saw them first - a pair of goblins armed with maces followed by one with a bow, alert and grim-looking. The taller among the trio walking with the girl called out to them, getting their attention. They've approached cautiously, keeping their eyes on Nym but showing no signs of open hostility yet. The fact that none of the first trio looked hurt or inconvenienced seemed to not quite put them at ease, but definitely keep them calm. The two groups of goblins engaged in a quick conversation in their own language, the better armed trio asking question while Nym's comrade explained something to them. After a moment, they've paused. The two macegoblins glanced at the archer, who nodded to them and turned to address the girl. "You's sent by village, yes? Helped catch the real thief and bring apology from them?"

Re: Nym (Ranger9000)

Nym would thank Lissia for fixing her clothes and letting her keep the dress, and shortly after Nym would get changed back into her gear. Then she found she had gotten a backpack and a holder for her axe. Those would make her life alot easier, and she slipped the envelope along with her new dress into the new backpack.

Then Nym and the goblins began their new quest for the day, the group returning to where Nym had encountered the goblins before, and running into a much heavier armed group this time. She held herself as the goblins talked with eachother in their own language, then when one of the heavier armed group addressed her she said, "Yes, I helped catch the thief and I've got a letter of apology on me from the villages mayor."

Re: Nym (Ranger9000)

"Letter for chief?" The goblin asked to confirm before looking at the others and speaking up in their language once more. "You's gonna go with us, speak with chief. He decides what to do next." With those words, he'd begin to lead the entire group now, the other goblins forming a sort of escort for Nym as they guided her deeper and deeper into the forest. Eventually they came across a trail, not nearly as big as the road leading to the elven village but certainly not a faint one. Shortly afterwards, the group would emerge in a large clearing and the girl would be able to get her first look of the place where goblins dwelled.

Much like the elven village, the place was quite defensible, with a wooden wall surrounding the entire area. They've had more guards though, no less than two large, muscular goblins with heavy axes guarding the place. The archer exchanged a greeting and gave them what was likely a short explanation as they've approached. The guards let them through without any fuss, though the gave Nym some curious glances, especially her ears. They probably didn't expect someone who wasn't pointy-eared working as the messenger.

As she walked into the village, the girl had to admit it was not too shabby. Sure, the houses seemed a lot more simple than the elven ones, with less ornamentation and their placement was nowhere near as organized, but they were pretty solid wooden huts. Many greenskins were milling about between them, performing their daily tasks, talking, snacking or resting. Of course, the small procession drew their attention quickly, but none of them pried even if some looked very curious. The presence of armed fighters likely made them rethink any attempts at interrupting.

Surrounded by her escort, Nym was guided through the loose crowd towards the largest of the huts, an imposing building made of not only wood, but stone as well. The group stopped a number of paces in front of it. "You wait here. I's go tell the chief." The archer told her before disappearing inside. After a few moments, he emerged again - following the biggest goblin Nym had ever seen. He had a bulky, muscular body, wore leather clothing and bore a cloak made of wolf pelt upon his back. Despite his musclebound build, it was clear he was far from stupid - the gaze he leveled at Nym was far too sharp for it to belong to someone who wasn't pretty damn clever. "So. You're the one who kidnapped my patrol yesterday... And now you show up, claiming to be a messenger from the town. Perhaps you'd like to explain yourself?" He asked in suprisingly good common with a nice and clear accent.

Re: Nym (Ranger9000)

Nym had to admit, she was somewhat surprised by how well put together the goblin camp was, she had honestly expected a bunch of lean-tos and stick huts. Along with maybe a few tents, not full on wood housing. Either way she was interested in seeing just how normal the goblins were living here.

Then they came to the goblin leaders house, and she was very surprised when a goblin near her height came out, a goblin near her height and looked like he could snap her in half without any difficulty, a goblin near her height, looked like he could snap her in half without any difficulty and looked and was quite intelligent.

"Well, I hadn't entirely meant to kidnap your patrol, I just needed some help tracking the person who had been stealing food from the elves and they helped me. Thanks to them we caught the Satyr that was stealing from the elves and they sent me here to deliver a letter of apologies," Nym said before taking in another breath and added, giving a small bow from the waist, "And I would like to apologize too for taking your patrol, I had been planning to return them much quicker but by the time we caught the Satyr it was too late to travel and we stayed overnight with the elves."

Re: Nym (Ranger9000)

The chieftain quirked an eyebrow as he listened, though his expression became much less condemning and more curious as Nym apologized with a bow. The mention of the satyr seemed to pique his interest further. "I see." He muttered. "You all may go now." Turning to the guard-goblins, he dismissed them. "Return to your duties. You three will stay here." He ordered the patrol that went with Nym. "And you..." He paused briefly, turning back to the girl. "What is your name? I'd like you to come in and explain the situation to me in detail. Tell me what happened from the beginning. Then, we'll discuss the matter of that apology." He gestured at the door, inviting her inside.

Inside the house was much like the outside - solid, mostly wood but some stone as well. It seemed that the goblins valued utility more than aesthetics, as the interior was very simplistic, yet practical. The chieftain lead Nym and the trio into the main hall. Inside, she'd find a collection of hunting trophies hanging off of the walls, a large wooden throne that was placed so that the center of the room was right in front of it, and a pair of armed goblins. Smaller than the chieftain, but a bit larger than the speargoblin that was with Nym. "Step forward and tell me about this incident." The chief greenskin ordered as he sat down on the throne, ready to listen to her tale.

Re: Nym (Ranger9000)

Nym would wait until they got into the throne room before she'd answer the goblin chieftan's question, mostly just so that she could get it all out of the way at once, stepping forward she began, "Well first, my name is Nym, and ..." Nym would go through explaining everything that had happened, just as she had with the elves, though again she'd leave out that little bit about what happened after the they captured the Satyr. Once she was done she'd pull the letter out from her bag and hold it in her hand, "Here, this is the letter of apologies that the elves wanted me to give you."

Re: Nym (Ranger9000)

The chieftain listened to Nym's tale with an expression of mild curiosity, nodding to himself at certain points. When she produced the letter meant for him, he glanced at one of the armed guards who quickly stepped forward, taking it from her. The goblin opened the envelope and pulled the letter out, unfolding it before giving it to the chief, who quickly scanned the page. "Well then." He finally spoke up. "Quite the tale. You seem to be a rather capable person, Nym." He rose from his seat. "I am Ozin, chief of the Darkwood tribe." He finally introduced himself.

"I would like to express my gratitude for your intervention. Though it was... Unexpected, it's not entirely unwelcome, seeing as you managed to fix this situation. Truth be told, we were capable of catching the goat on our own, but after my last meeting with the mayor... Let's just say I was wary of sending anyone out near the village and leave it at that." He sighed. "At the very least, it seems that we have a chance of settling that quarrel peacefully now." He seemed rather pleased with that possibility, though his face showed little besides a small smile.

"Unfortunately, there's also the matter of what you've done in the process." Ozin frowned. "Though you've done us a considerable favor, you did force a number of our hunters to work for you." He glanced at the trio that helped Nym, now standing to the side of the room. "And they really should not have allowed themselves to be beaten like that. Right now, I find myself in a situation where I should both reward you for what you've done, and punish you as our laws demand." He began to pace slowly, the three goblins looking rather uncertain now.

"You three. Go and report to Bakra." He commanded the trio, who showed a mix of badly hidden relief and trepidation at the other. "She mentioned to me today she could use some help with her brews." They quickly bowed before the chieftain and left the room. "As for you... I'm not quite sure what to do. You're both a messenger and a helpful soul, but letting you go entirely without reprisal might upset some." Ozin paused for a second, considering an idea. "Tell me... How confident are you in your ability to fight unarmed?"

Re: Nym (Ranger9000)

Nym was expecting something like this, she had beat up some of their number and then semi-abducted them after all. She was quite happy with the praise she had gotten though and she could only hope it wasn't going to be too much of a problem whatever they ended up having her doing. Then the chieftain asked her a question directly, "Not particularly but I think I could manage with it, why?"

Re: Nym (Ranger9000)

"One of our traditions permits a party in a position like yours to challenge a warrior of our tribe in a public wrestling match. After all, strenght is one of our chief values. If you prove yourself strong, then the others will likely forgive, or even forget any grievances they might have against you." Ozin explained, smirking as he turned fully towards Nym. "Of course, should you lose, you will have to face certain... Consequences. In such challenges, winner typically has the right to request many things from the loser, including the right to make them theirs for a day. If you fail to win, it's likely you'll end up having to put on quite the show." The goblin chuckled darkly, his grin taking on a slightly perverted nature. A hint to the nature of the "show", no doubt. "Of course, you can refuse. But that will mean you'll have to submit to punishment. Typically, in situations like these you'd be forced to... Repay the party you've wronged, or the tribe itself."

Re: Nym (Ranger9000)

'......................................................' Was what was going through Nym's thoughts at that moment, the girl taking in the implications either way. Sure she had some confidence in her strength but what should happen if she lost wasn't exactly good. With a sigh she said, "Umm, who would the wronged party be in this case? Because I kinda already kinda repayed the patrol leader I took with me..." Nym looked incredibly embarrassed at that admission, and wondered if that would count or not...

Re: Nym (Ranger9000)

Ozin quirked an eyebrow at the admission, looking a little surprised. "Huh. Well, the wronged party would be those three you've taken with you, I suppose, though they have their own punishment to suffer for today. So you'd be repaying the tribe. Or at the very least, someone representing the tribe." He shrugged. "Usually that is an honor reserved for the chieftain. You should bear in mind, though, that for the punishment to become official it must be announced publicly. And I'm afraid that a... Demonstration is part of that."

The chieftain briefly glanced at one of the trophies on his wall, as if recalling something before turning his attention back to the young woman. "If you're looking for a way to potentially spare yourself indignity, you'll have to issue a challenge. If you'd rather spare yourself the trouble of fighting one of the warriors, a... Show of humility will be inevitable. Mind, losing the spar will give the same result, unless you manage to put on a particularly spectacular showing. Ultimately, it's a question of whether or not you're willing - and capable - of convincing the tribe you're worthy of respect with your bare hands. Sometimes, we extend grace towards losers if they put up a good enough fight."

Re: Nym (Ranger9000)

'Ya, just about as I expected,' Nym thought to herself, then sighed and said, "Okay, I will try the challenge. If I lose then I can atleast say I put up the effort first."

She hoped she wouldn't lose, but the prospect of a good fight was starting to draw her as well. Her attitude was rapidly changing now, as the prospect of the battle started to make her more outgoing, "I'll show you guys my spirit if nothing else!"

Also because she was fairly sure giving up right out of the gate and surrendering without a fight would be a good way to not earn anyones respect.

Re: Nym (Ranger9000)

"Now that is the spirit!" Ozin chuckled, smiling as Nym declared she'd do her best. "I'll go and find someone who should be around your level of ability. But first, a couple rules. No attacks that can cripple or endanger your opponent's life. You can punch, kick and grapple, but fair play is expected. Also..." His expression once more turned slightly perverted. "While victory by knockout is typical in these events, dominating your opponent in a different way is also acceptable. In fact, I'm sure many viewers will appreciate it." The goblin added suggestively before sobering up a bit. "I shall go now. Garlowe here will show you the way to the place where you will spar with your opponent." He pointed at one of the guards who nodded in response before approaching the girl and leading her outside.

Nym was led through the village again, eventually approaching a circular, fenced-off area surrounded by wooden benches arranged in tiers. Her guide opened a small gate, ushering her inside before closing it behind her. Soon enough, goblins began to file in, taking their places in the audience. Eventually Ozin appeared as well, taking his place on a large wooden throne. He was flanked by an old goblins wearing what looked like a shaman's garb and a bulky, muscular warrior covered in scars. Nym's opponent entered the arena shortly afterwards. Compared to the elite guards she had seen around the chieftain, he was rather lean, but still fairly athletic. The greenskin was clad in a simple shirt and a pair of pants. He looked rather confident as he faced the girl, no doubt readying himself to wrestle her to the ground.

"Brothers and sisters!" Ozin called out, beginning the ceremony. "We have gathered here to address the case of the one called Nym! She has beaten and forcibly taken three of our own for her own devices yesterday, something that warrants punishment. However, she fought in defense of self and treated the defeated ones fairly. Furthermore, she has brought down the thief that plagued our neightbours, making the elves realize the folly of accusing us and ask us for a chance to amend their mistake. She has done a service to our tribe, and thus she is granted the right to redeem herself through a trial of fair combat against our own. Should she prove worthy of our respect, she'll be granted pardon. Should she fall short of our expectations, she will experience the full punishment at the hands of our warrior. Now, let the challenge commence!"

Status:
Nym: 5/5 FP, 0/10 AP, 2/2 CP

Goblin: 5/5 FP, 0/10 AP, 2/2 CP

(Now, in a wrestling match like this, aside of attacking Nym also has the option to attempt a grapple. Doing so allows her to disrobe her opponent instead of attacking or use erotic attacks if he's missing clothes. Critical attacks will also shred clothing. It should be noted that losing all FP does not equal automatic defeat - it will be replenished up to two times. However, each knockout gives the enemy a free turn to act and you regain less FP than your max limit when you get up. It takes three knockouts to win. Alternatively, filling up the AP gauge once also counts as victory. All rules apply both ways - you and your foe have equal chances.)

Re: Nym (Ranger9000)

For a moment, Nym thought that the scarred veteran was going to be her challenger, and she nearly freaked out. Luckily she wasn't going to be facing off against that goblin, instead she seemed to be facing off against one that looked like she had a reasonable chance. The goblin wasn't build like a house, and he wasn't to terribly tall, though from what she remembered that was actually a bad thing for her in this case.

Regardless she had been thinking over what the chieftain had said earlier, and was almost considering the alternate option. She figured it might actually be easier then trying to beat hi in a straight up punch out. Though that didn't mean she wasn't going to try a punch out a bit too.

So she figured she'd start with a punch, a jab just to test the waters and see how capable her opponent was. Also she figured that going straight to stripping would look a bit bad. She needed to show some strength after all.

Re: Nym (Ranger9000)

Rolls:
Nym: 8 vs 6 (hit)

Goblin: 6 vs 6 (miss)

As soon as the signal to fight was given, both Nym and her opponent sprang into action. The goblin quickly closed the distance, confident in his ability to defeat the girl while she decided to fight more cautiously, testing the waters first. This turned out to be the right decision - he underestimated her severely and the sudden jab caught him by suprise, allowing her to land a clean hit. The greenskin stumbled briefly, but regained his balance almost immediately. Narrowing his eyes, he attempted to counterattack, but his assault was anticipated and he missed by a small margin.

Frowning, the goblin was now trying to circle around Nym to get into better position. Though his initial approach was slightly careless, he was now ready to fight seriously. From the looks of it, his physical abilities and skill were relatively closer to her own, setting them up for an even fight. The crowd was muttering, the occasional goblin shouting encouragement for their champion, but they seemed interested. The young adventurer demonstrated that she might be capable of fighting a warrior on her own. They weren't impressed yet, but none of them looked dismissive either.

'Well thats a good start,' Nym though to herself as she landed a solid blow on the goblin without taking a hit back. Now she just needed to keep it up, and preferably not do it in a way that lost the crowd since that was kind of the point of this whole challenge.

This time, she'd wait for the goblin to try to attack her again, even try to leave an opening in the hope he'd take it, and if he did she'd try to catch his punch and use it as leverage to toss the goblin to the ground and pin him down.

Re: Nym (Ranger9000)

(Right, I'm gonna assume it's grapple... Might need to add what kind of attack you're trying to use in the future in case you'll have more than one option.)

Rolls:
Nym: 6 vs 5 (grapple)

Goblin: 12 v 8 (hit)

Nym's plan didn't quite work out as she intended. She caught the punch, yes, but not before it collided with her body, doing some damage. Still, she managed to roll with it, making the hit less dangerous than it could have been and more importantly, preventing her opponent from losing much of his momentum as she pulled at his arm, flipping him over and onto the ground. The audience cried out at this turn of events, the battle clearly beginning to please them. Watching two fighters of equal (and not miserable) skill duke it out was better than just watching a goblin whip a weak opponent. Now the adventurer had an advantage over the goblin. What would she do with it?

(Right, now you can attempt to strip or pleasure your foe. Defending fighter in a grapple can only attempt to either break out or reverse it. Keep in mind that the goblin can easily return to slugging it out or start working you if he gets a good roll.)

Re: Nym (Ranger9000)

Nym let out a little puff as the goblins punch carried through her grab and hit her, but she still managed to toss the goblin to the ground. The girl had to avoid getting caught up in the mood the crowd was getting into, and used the position to try to tear the goblins shirt, removing that small bit of potential armour to make things easier in the future for her.
