The ROA"RPG" game doesn't need RPG maker. I can say this with 100% certainty. Totally separate thing.
Overall I'd much rather see them do something new with the real time fighter, but I do quite like the RPG style battle game. Despite the fact that I actually rather dislike the traditional battle system in most JRPGs.
Did you get the english patch for it? Without a guide or a lot of experimenting it's almost imposible to play that game enjoyably while wading through kanji. Back on page 5 there is an eng patch. Also on that page is an upload of my personal modified version.

Yeah, if you haven't already take a look at page 5 in this thread. About a third of the way down I give a link to my modded version, and just bellow that Gryphose makes it slightly redundant by providing a link to an English patch. The patch works by making the game ignore the "namej" line in the various files and simply uses the file name instead. Wish I knew about the patch, since it would have saved me the process of tediously going through all the files editing the namej line. That's a lot of txt files when you consider the all the attacks.
When I get a moment I think I might download the latest version and see if there's anything new.

Not really anything new. Most of the recent Ryonasaga updates have been code-fixes and such, and there hasn't been a new core update since March (the update mentions Win7....compatibility patch maybe? Didn't see any difference on my machine and I'd been running the game prior to dling the file)
Last overall update was for the Tsubame character, adding some animations (might've altered her stats, but eh....wasn't too impressed with the added animations...)

And while we're on the topic of ROA33, does anyone know of a way to add character files from previous versions? I realize it's most likely impossible.... but it's such a damn shame they stopped working on it.

the best thing about ryonasaga is how easy it is to mod.
maybe the game sucks this way because it is mostly ryona/vore content. but if you got yourself some time and nerve you can alter the game anyway you like just by editing the .txt files... from a sexless final fantasy combat clone to a rapefest without equal.
there is even a translated version by Lipucd ... found it right when i was translating it myself (thx for saving me so much time ^_^)

I'm going to have to disagree with you....on that one. Don't get me wrong, Toffi's games are awesome and I will say that his POTR is un-surmounted by all except maybe Fairy Fighting. I must say however, that ROA holds little more than a candle to the rest of his games, gameplay-wise and graphically speaking. The problem with ROA is as everyone knows: completely incomplete. But if it WERE to be completed, I think it would be a more than a considerable hentai game.
