Did the new patch break the translation? My patcher gets stuck at 98% and I keep getting this when I try launching it ; w;

Um, it's entirely possible. RPGMaker Trans's script patcher has always been a bit temperamental. I'll look into it tonight and see if I can fix it.

As to content of the new demo: nothing new, by the description. But the description also says that save files from this demo should work on the full game,

EDIT: Regarding the patch problems - it looks like it's RPGMaker Trans's Windows only bug, which is annoying. I'll have a chance to rebuild it tonight, and hopefully that'll fix it. If not I'll try to debug it properly, but no guarantees that'll work.
EDIT2: It looks like this version does contain a final items database, so I'll be translating that to be ready for the games launch.

OK, for anyone struggling to perform the patch due to it stalling at 98%, I'm still looking into it. I have put up a new build ( ) which appears to help with the issue, but doesn't quite fix it. The problem with debugging this issue is that it only seems to manifest itself when RPGMaker Trans has to unpack the game, and even then it's transient (i.e. doesn't always happen - patching the game 6 times, I've only seen this happen once). Of course, this makes it highly annoying to debug.

Anyway, the two obvious fixes: either unpack the game using another unpacker, or try it with RPGMaker Trans and if it fails, log out/log in (or kill all RPGMaker Trans processes) and try again. Sorry for any inconvenience, but I suspect that this is something that will only actually get resolved when my rewrite of RPGMaker Trans's infrastructure is finished (due to the current infrastructure making it very hard to debug this kind of fault).

Of course, if my assessment is wrong, and you're seeing RPGMaker Trans stall all of the time, please report a bug or complain here. This may be to do with firewalls, but I have my doubts with that theory...

In any case, you may be best off waiting anyway. In it's current form, the demo translation patch will break a handful of things. Specifically, some choices will no longer work (although nothing critical, I think...)

And now I've had a proper chance to look at the new demo, some changes I've noted:

1) It seems that the new demo has the final versions of armors/weapons/items, so I'll be translating these tomorrow and there should be a complete partial translation at launch.
2) A handful of dialogue lines are no longer translated. I think this is because Searothonc changed how he's doing star characters, but I need to look into this. Again, I'll try to fix these before the games launch, along with the currently broken choices.
3) There's a small amount of additional resources in this demo - mostly outfits, I think. But nothing you can see without cheating.
4) The Briefings/CommonEvents files appear to be from the full version; I've not looked at these in any kind of detail (I don't want to spoil the story from myself), but these are much bigger than they were, so it seems a fairly safe assumption that all event code is in these. Although, without the graphics resources, these events obviously won't work even if you cheat :)

The full version will almost certainly be released this month. It may already be under submission waiting for review - that's normally when a demo gets updated, at any rate.

However, this is all speculative really, so I can't give any date for certain.

By the by, once the final game comes out, you are going to postpone Lilium Union translation in favor of this, correct?

Without doubt. Sorry for anyone waiting on Lilium Union, but it's really tedious to translate. While the demo was quite fun in a lot of respects, the same cannot be said of the full version, where the majority of the content was really quite... well, boring. It's got elements which are fun (like Laurel's urn fetish, Teyuteyuasu or the painter), but for the most part it suffers from wooden writing and a dull scenario. It's a shame really - I thought the demo had a lot of promise. The only thing I can say is positive when compared to VPM is that the H-scenes are a lot shorter (although not as well written; I'm not a fan of jumping between dialogue and a narrator).

So yeah: VPM will definitely take priority. There may be some overlapping projects as well - potentially some work on Lilium Union, but more likely a different third project (quite likely to be Rune's Pharmacy, if I'm honest...)

Well, it is for the sake for an arguably objectively better game, so probably no-one can complain :)

In any case, due to having a bit more time tonight than I previously thought I would, I've updated my patch to include the majority of changes in the demo, as well as hopefully fixing any breakages the previous version introduced. .

As I've said, it looks like the Items/Armors/Weapons etc are as they will be in the full version of the game. And so a complete partial translation patch for Virgin's Protection Magic is available before the release of the game. Pretty certain that's a first. (And yet it's still not been included on the list of partial translations, despite a request in that thread...)

Note: I'm aware that some dialogue has been added/changed in the demo, and not all of the additions/changes have been translated/retranslated. So if you get Japanese text in the demo section, I am aware of that issue - there will be a 4th version this weekend; this release is solely to get a working partial translation available in case of early release.

Haven't gotten far into the demo yet.

Are there any clothes that actually change appearance? Wouldn't suprise me if there wasn't but one can still hope!

But one of the glaring omissions in the demo is a complete and total absence of them!

He included all of his clothes in the demo's hidden files. (I think its all of them)
You can access them when you unzip the game in rpgmakervxace.

New demo included goblin scenes and slime which made chapter 1 complete for the demo. The goblin i think are for chapter 2, you need the files:
Graphics\Pictures\CG\7\3\01.png
Graphics\Pictures\CG\7\3\02.png
Graphics\Pictures\CG\7\3\03.png
Graphics\Pictures\CG\7\3\04.png
to be in you game file to work. Just to see the text only.
You can cut and paste or create a dummy file as a filler just to see the scene.
I included some save files with notable key items, some are bugged as the are not supposed to be implemented in the demo.

Save 4=chapter 2(notable enemies:goblins), bugged
Save 7=chapter 1(slimes)

Also in the prologue, in your room, there is a window which you can stand right infront of, the game files show that there is a debug tool hidden in it if you input the corrrect sequence of your keyboard.

Default key binding will be (Q,S,W,D,\ or shift) the key which you are activating is (L,Y,R,Z,A). Any wrong input will reset all the switch back to 0, get all to be 1 to activate it and get the debug tool. Right now in the demo, the tool is not workable.

Doesn't it ruin the fun to dig around and find these scenes before you actually get to experience them in game? Seems to me there are so few quality games as is, that to put fake graphics in the game to see the scene "text only" is wasting an experience you could enjoy by actually playing the game when it comes out.

Granted, to fully experience it you'd have to wait for the translation, but this seems like a game that would be 100% worth the wait. :)

Well being brought up with learning 3 languages is a plus. Besides some of us are too hyped about it and tries to get what they can dish out to us. The game itself i assume should be more than great to let just a cg-less scene to spoil it for us.:D

Hmm. Actually, what's quite interesting is that the graphics for the Ganconer (probably the Goblin Gamer23 mentioned, although there are few other goblin-types) H-scenes were in the previous demo, along with a bunch of other RoL graphics (e.g. Leannán Sídhe/Baobhan Sith). Didn't check for things removed when I scanned through...

In any case, for those wondering, I believe all the H-scene text is 'in' the demo (although I haven't actually looked at it; just separated out events with an abundance of heart marks - there's a lot of them). Also, given how the game is structurally and how the demo appears to have been made (i.e. by setting a flag and deleting files from the full game), I'd also hypothesise that the majority of the games actual story is technically in the demo (albeit not the maps/resources needed to see it).

So, if you don't want to spoil the game, don't look at the files in my translation patch. They'll effectively contain a complete dump of the story/Hscenes/whatever.

I'm curious because if you plan on finishing it fast, I want to wait but if you think it'll take a few months I'll probably just play with agth and then play it again once you finish because it will obviously be more enjoyable translated.

Also taking bets for release date my bet is 22nd Sept.

So, uh, no. This won't be a quick translation. It's conceivable that the main story could be done fairly quickly though; I need to find out just how long it is first, and that would require the actual game to be released. But that's still likely to be at least one and a half months, and wouldn't include any H-scenes.

However, there will be an update quite shortly after release containing translations for all of the Familiar command text, which should help people struggling with machine translations. I may also release translations Act by Act, which would result in an Act 2 translation pretty quickly (most of Act 2 is already translated).

I will however be looking at doing some interesting stuff regarding machine translation though. If I have enough time, I may put out a patch containing a special script and a custom translator (last time I did that was Maiden Goddess Story) which should provide better translations than are possible with regular AGTH+machine translation. Well, provided you have ATLAS set up.

While I'm not a betting person, 22nd of September is highly unlikely. It's a public holiday in Japan, so there probably won't be any releases then. I'd suspect the game will be released before the 20th or after the 23rd, depending on exactly when it was submitted to DLSite and how long they take to review it (Searothonc mentioned a deadline in a recent tweet, but I'm not sure I can translate it correctly, given abbreviations used...)
