Re: pearldymes

I`m finding issue with the ridiculous and wasteful stretch goals - Nevermind that there is no way in hell they`ll reach funding, the goals themselves are garbage.
...
Their list just makes it seem like they really don't know what kind of money they need.
Possibly... but it's also possible that they couldn't predict how much funding they'd receive. If they were only going to get 50k, then it'd make sense for them to make a smaller game, without the professional VAs/writers. On the flip side, if they got 250k worth of funding, they'd have a lot more time to put work into the game and add those extra content features, like the Epic story mode. I have no doubt in my mind that they'd be able to do those things you mentioned with half a million.

I'm guessing that the "extras stuff" like the documentaries and anime are costly, which is why they bumped the stretch goals up so high. Similarly to what Stiltz brought up, I feel that if they made the game content a primary focus with their goals, they might even be able to make the goals for that lower, and maybe make the extras stuff an addon after those were met. (So like, 200k for story mode, 300k for the documentaries, etc.)

This is all conjecture though and either way, I'm still of the opinion that their stretch goals are pretty unattainable.

I'm kinda tempted to back this. If anything their art quality looks great even when I know the only thing I will like is Earth Dymes.
Pledge enough and you can make your own Dyme ;)

Smartphone? Online mode? A documentary? An anime?
Writing off that half of this is near impossible for them to accomplish, all of that would be an astounding waste of funding.
Writers and voice actors are not hard to find, even for hentai/porn games.
Their list just makes it seem like they really don't know what kind of money they need.
I'd agree with this. I feel like they could have spent a bit more time trying to build a community, and then ask that group of fans what they would want out of the game. Although, maybe we're just uninformed, and there are people who really want a documentary on this project...but I'm not convinced.

Their goals aren't just unattainable, they are downright ludicrous. Even Fenoxo's new game "only" generated short of 200K. That's also considering how much time he has spent making free, quality games and remaining in close contact with his fanbase.

A great idea can only take you so far if you do not have the credentials. For a first time project, they should have perhaps been less ambitious and gotten rid of any unnecessary things to further decrease the cost (eg. VA's).

TBH the one thing that surprises me so much is that they even exist. A game studio that, i'm guessing consists of more than 4 people? No wonder the target is so... broad... It'll definitely be designed objectively as long as they have a theme.

Their artist at least seems skilled enough.

The project though is really painful to watch. It's like they don't see how small the market is for this. Instead of asking enough money to make a living while they're mid-development(which is definitely what they're doing... like Skullgirls) They should've just had more faith in how much the product would have returned when it was released and asked for less.

The fact that they're asking for so much feels like they don't have faith in their own project.

PS: I'm only saying this because they're advertising their stretch goals as if it were part of the main game concept.

Honestly, I'm perfectly ok with the main game concept as long as it's got good scenes.

They just reached the first Stretchgoal of 25,000...
Even if they just include the stuffed listed till 25k it still might be fun <.<
I'm curious how this turns out...

It's disappointing because I was kinda interested about this game. But seeing how it turned out for everyone, I'm glad that I missed the kickstarter. :/

Lol thought so. No wonder why I felt so uneasy about this fucking thread. I'm happy I didn't fund it at all.

Re: Neat looking game called PearlDymes is up on OffBeatr

Studio Pantisniff posted a new update about the game.

Dear backers,

First things first, we're sorry. We're sorry for the delay and we're sorry for the lack of updates. When we started our crowdfunding campaign we had big dreams. These dreams came a step closer to reality when you all started to support us. We are thankful that you guys wanted to share this dream with us. However, after our campaign ended we started to get some trouble within our development team. Out of 5 people, 3 left before we even started, which hugely impacted the development process. This, followed by Qillactic’s personal health issues, caused some heavy setbacks and slow downs. Thankfully Qillactic has fully recovered, but all of this was still not a good enough reason for not keeping you all up to date. We didn’t know what to say and were ashamed to admit that the game would take much longer to finish. Reading the negative comments was painful, but the positive comments and private messages motivated us to keep on working. Once the funding was depleted, we continued to work out of our own pockets. We are currently still working on the game and once it’s finished we hope it’ll be enough for you to forgive us for the delay.

Starting from today we will bring you closer to the development process. We have launched our where we will post updates. There is a special backers area for the supporters who donated. We will personally message all of our backers with instructions how to get access to this area within 24 hours after this post.

Thank you again for believing!

Might look better for them if there was anything posted on that forum... at all.

Hey now, there's totally 4 posts over there!

Also one said post seems to be a of the game.

I'd still be wary of a group that didn't update anything as long as they did though.

I saw this as successful scam. Perhaps I was wrong. Maybe. We'll see. :p Still doesn't excuse them for zero updates.

And this is why people don't really want to fund people that can't provide anything :/
