Depending on how significant the status buff is, it might be worth quitting the game early as a free player.
The buff really should be applied to pure gacha character only. As opposed to starters as well. (This by itself is going to make a lot of people angry. Not that many people still use the evolved starters these days)
Detailed Analysis:
2EV5 (Rarest, hardest to level/evolution)
祇園 御咲 （ぎおん みさき）
鎌倉 早紀 （かまくら さき）
納札所 霞 （なふしょ かすみ）
They need the buff. At the moment, these characters at 2EV4 (since 5 isn't attainable yet) max level are worse than 3EV4 characters when maxxed. (Mostly due to Lv12 versus Lv15 and no status carry outside of atk or def)
They should at least be equivalent to a 3EV4 and outpace a 3EV5 when maxxed. (You are looking at 900~ highest status versus 1000~ highest status of difference. It's significant)
2EV4 (Rare, not that hard to level/evolve)
随神門 玲 （ずいしんもん れい）
艶堂 葵 （えんどう あおい）
神門 蘭子 （かんど らんこ）
Issue same as the above. At Lv15 2EV4, they are the same as normal unit. For example, my wind helper 艶堂 葵 shares the same status as meiling despite having 1 more evolution. One more evolution should give 5~10% (which is solved if other status can carry over other than just atk/def) in status or else it's just more difficulty in raising them for no apparent reason.
3EV4 & 3EV5, all melee

稲荷舞妓 （いなり まいこ）
神殿 奈波 （しんでん ななみ）
李 美雨 （り めいゆい）
Strength based character needs a buff. No argument here. Except it should apply to ALL characters as opposed to gold gacha unit only. (1k damage for no mp versus 3.7k damage for 200 mp or 2k damage * 3 for 160 mp. Enough said)
Starters

Where is the fire starter? She's the one that actually needs a buff. And no, just no. Gold gacha starter should NOT be better than the one you pick. In fact, it should be worse since your first starter is suppose to be special. (They need a 3EV5 evolution.)
After analysis, not as bad as I though, except for the melee buff should be applied to all strength based characters. (We know how they are under performing) as opposed to gacha only character.
The starter on the other hand is just a bad move period. This is going to make a lot of free players angry.
Note: If the above buff only applies to first evolution never mind what I said before. Won't make much of a difference. What I am afraid of is any significant boost (10%~12% is pushing it) for post-evolution (more specifically final evolution) form which is going to screw up balance.
Put me on the inactive list. Lots of real life stuffs going on and the item mall dependant nature of the game ( 30 item type limit, etc ) is just simply unfair and putting me off real bad.
Nothing limited, just release of hard level dungeons (you need a full team of 4 stars to get any where in those dungeons, especially from 25 and onward) and decision on the most popular girls.
These hard dungeons drops the holy ritual item for 5 star evolution.
The most popular girls, regardless of rarity beforehand will become the new highest star (6) unit.
At the moment, the highest rarity girl is:
2 Star: Water 1EV2 Shield Miko
3 Star: Water Starter Miko
4 Star: Wind 3EV4 Starter Miko
5 Star: Water 3EV5 Gacha Mage Miko
And they will all become 6 star at the end of the event. This is probably the best time to be getting your hands on the strongest unit in game history for a while.
Basically, we the players vote for the strongest/most popular unit in the game by:
Having them as leaders when running a dungeon. They are totaling the # of run as leader unit for each miko at the end of the event.

Level limit increased after the previous patch.
2 Star: Lv30 Max
3 Star: Lv30 Max
4 Star: Lv20 Max
5 Star: Lv20 Max
I am pretty sure outside of skills, 3 star Lv30 > 4 star Lv20. The water gun 2EV3 girl is going to rock at lv30, same with a Lv30 Tsubaki.

Original -> New max level -> Holy ritual -> 6 star.
It's probably going to be a jump from original final evolution to 6 stars, and requires a ridiculous amount of exp. (The new max level for these most popular girl is going to require a bit less than 20k exp, since it's 5 Star Lv20 exp as the requirement)
Popular as in 2 stars. As I explained before, its ranked by the highest star evolution for each character. (And the pre-evolution form adds to the evolved form)
Besides, this is a popularity contest, jp might just like the look? (Out of all the 1EV2s, I like Ranwu the best as well, since she can actually take a hit when I level her)
And also as in the ONLY 2 star that can survive a hit in the later dungeon and can heal. So you can actually use her in later dungeons when the alternative is getting a 2 star max level instantly killed when against the wrong enemy.
