Howdy Folks,

I was waxing nostalgic with another forum member recently about old-school Dungeons and Dragons, back when the basic game was divided into the Basic, Expert, Companion, and Master sets. This was back in the 80's, when every box had a dragon on the front of it, and when every car had a boxy design, and some of those cars even had dragons on the front of them, too.

Anyway, I was thinking it might be fun to put together a short campaign with the original Basic rules (maybe a few house rules to make the game-flow easier online) and wanted to see if anybody out there would be interested.

tl;dr Wanna play some Basic D&D?

Shrike and I had the first session a few days ago over AIM, mostly just character building. I'd be happy to forward the rules set over to you (the red 1980 D&D Basic rulebook with a green dragon squaring off against a bearded dwarf with a spear and a female magic-user with magnificent breasts) if it will assist your decision. :)

(And while it works so far, I'm not completely sold on AIM as a gaming chat, so I'm open to other options.)

So...this one?

If that's the case, I don't need the info, I just need to drag it out of the basement *laughs*

AIM's all right, except if you're in a chat room, you can't see when the other people are typing. Granted, chats are a lot easier and faster than the forums, though. Again, I suppose it'd be a notion of when the game might be. I'm tied up on weekends and Wednesdays are utterly out for me. Not to mention I'm usually not on here until 10PM EST or later.

Yup, that's the box cover for the book I've been pawing through. Granted, I've got the Rules Cyclopedia next to me for harder questions (PC have a lot more ideas today than they did in 1980) but that's the set of rules we're using. The scheduling might be a little trickier--we'll have to work something out.
