Hello everyone!

I'm new around here, I'm an animator who's been working on a game project you can find online at eros3d.com (Playing requires a browser plugin you can find at geta3d.com) #UPDATE Now the game is a download, no browser plugin

Right now there’s not much game there yet, but you can move the character around, shoot the orc until he turns into a coin and pick up that coin.
#UPDATE: Coin is gone but he now has a death animation and sound, as well as reaction to getting hurt
The orc wanders around a series of waypoints until he notices the elf and then he starts to follow her, but he hasn’t got any other behaviours just yet.
# UPDATE: He has a grab move and animation

Although he can push her off the edge of the cliff, which causes a game over. There’s also a pushable bock which I’ll probably use as some sort of mechanism to move beyond this area, as soon as there is more to move to.

I intend to keep the game free to play and accept donations and use ad support to fund it's ongoing development. But at this point I'd just be happy to have some people actually run it and give me some feedback.

I'll be adding to the game on a daily basis, here's part of my to-do list in no particular order

Crossbow bolt ammo limit / reload when she picks up the orc coin

Orc reacting to crossbow bolts (done)

Sound effects for walking, dragging, firing, etc (some done)

clothing destructability

A proper game intro

Orc's attacks, with a H game over scene.

Give her a sword or other melee attack (done)

As I hope is obvious, the gameplay will be like the classic Resident Evil/Parasite Eve games, in a fantasy environment, though I may mix things up a little later on to keep it fresh. I'll be keeping an ear open to suggestions! In fact maybe the game plot could be reader driven like the homestuck/prequel webcomics. We shall see!

How are you going to be making this game? in Unity?

Also, when it comes to your 3d models how are you making them? Blender?

I ask this because I'm interested in the concept and at the same time I've been interested in making a 3d game as well.

It's a blender project through and through, I'm using the game engine too.

Here's a screenshot

Tested it out, after downloading that file the game loads on the web page. Right now it seems to be simple. you are a drow, you have a cross bow, you shoot an orc, the end lol.

Thanks for trying it out patronvee, yep it's really simple at this point, but I'll be adding a bit more meat to it as I'm able to.

Great Project with so much potential. Many people failed before they reached the point when it comes to animation. Please don't lose your motivation and show any hater that will come up sooner or later the fucker because it's a great thing you're working on.

I will not donate anything, just as the most others until you have anything stable with content

At this point I have a big suggestion to make.

Although the consumer demand is high, the community about such projects is really weak.
It would be awesome if someone would make the first step to create a community project (similar like the slavemaker3 guy does, or fenoxo who got good and well deserved donations for his work) where anyone could contribute code, models, or animation (just compare with skyrim nexus to know that there are enough skilled perverts out there).

This was just a thought, it's your game of course and you know the best how to deal with it.

Re: Drow huntress - free 3d browser game

Thanks everyone for the comments, sorry for not posting more. I'm working on the best way to have characters interact with each other, since that's pretty important for this kind of game!

The blender game engine is my choice for many reasons but one is that since it's an open source project there's no one who can tell me to stop based on content. "We don't want our trademark involved in an adult project please stop using our engine", that sort of thing.

Screwd: I have a lot of ideas that I hope to spin off from this first project, so the sky's the limit.

For the moment, here's my hentai foundry gallery so you can check out some of my older, non interactive work

It's fine just make sure you want to be doing this since it will take a lot out of you because some people won't get it of how hard programing and making stuff like this is.

When I go to load up the game I have the buster installed and it loads up but after clicking "play" it says that it can't certify the certificate and connection error 9. :S

I don't want to interfere with your "artistic vision", but will there be an option for another skin tone? I strangely never had a thing for drows...

I downloaded the plugin and when I started playing the game, the characters is completely white while the orc is completely black. And the background is just plain grey. Did I do something wrong?

Re: Drow huntress - free 3d browser game

Deathblade88> I might have uploaded a version with the wrong render settings a while back, it was up for a while before I noticed so that's probably it, if not and it still looks broken I need more info, what machine you're on, browser, etc... I need feedback on this because I only have one laptop at the moment so I can only test on Vista, ubuntu, firefox and chrome (IE? Should I bother, lol), this goes for anyone who finds problems now and in the future.

alias34> Character customization is one of the things I could do, it depends on how much complexity it will add to the rest of the game. Just colours shouldn't be too hard though...

I've finally figured out a good method for characters to interact in game, allowing for grabs, combat animations, etc... most game projects have the problem of a programmer who can't animate, my problem is the opposite, I can animate but then I don't know how to put the stuff in. That said I think I have it working.

Another question I need to figure out is the trust issue, I've tried posting in a few other places and people distrust the plugin, which I guess I can understand but everyone seems happy to dowload and run .exe files off some shady file host at the drop of a hat, so I kinda feel discriminated :) Anyway I might just link to this thread from the site so people can see no one here got digital cooties from my game.

In related news, I recently opened the member area of my paysite, where I have a bunch of animations available of ladies of various colours, would be most relevant to this thread

Here's one of a blonde, non drow elf

The game as it stands right now has the following features.

Drow can walk or run (shift+forward arrow), she has no weapons at the beginning but pressing 1 equips the sword, and pressing 2 the crossbow. Only the crossbow is functional (press shift to aim, z to fire, unlimited ammo). The ogre/orc wanders around and ignores the player (Actually I've noticed he will do a lunge animation if you run in front of him, I forgot I implemented that.), who can shoot him until he vanishes and leaves a coin you can pick up. Moving around in the cave changes the camera angle, and if you go as far as the pit in the middle of the cave you can fall in and game over. She can also lean into the block to push it, but is too weak to move it.

I'm going to update with a limited fetch quest that will be delivered by talking to a npc. The crossbow will have limited animation, and the ogre will react to the character and chase, and grab when close enough. I'll post here when I've uploaded.

The plan is to add self contained "episodes/missions" so I can deliver a somewhat complete experience, even if it's limited at the beginning, as time goes by and I add more detail, animations, props, interactivity, I can roll some of it into the earlier episodes (As long as it doesn't break them), what I have in mind is a bit inspired in the webcomic prequel, if that gives you an idea of what I'm going for. Certainly it will be open to suggestions/requests from the readership (Players? Whatever)

Still can't post links... annoying. Edit: Links fixed

Here's another one, there's more with this character on the site, but I can't embed them because they're flash files...

Re: Drow huntress - free 3d browser game

Looks like it's coming pretty good.

If this was the unity plug-in we where talking about, no one would have problems installing it since almost everyone would already have it, this one on the other hand, it's a plugin for a very rarely seen game engine, and the plugin doesn't even seem official. An exe file can a least be virus scanned and blocked off from contacting the web, while a plugin almost has leeway of doing whatever it pleases without me knowing. At least, that's how I think.

Is there any particular reason you chose blender engine over unity? If you where using unity you could just get a few item packs from the asset store, maybe a ready made engine for you to tweak to match your needs and get your game up and running in much less time.

I know how goddamn slow it's to model anything remotely good looking, so I won't blame you for using ready made props and background assets, in fact I would expect you to, if you are working alone and intend to have something done on a reasonable time span.

Also, I think the one with regular shading looks much better than the cel shaded ones.

Re: Drow huntress - free 3d browser game

Only the top one is from the game, the other two are older animations for my (Now free) paysite, I'm posting them so people can see I do animate rather than take my word for it :)

Blender is open source, I'm working in blender and I just have to click a tab to drop into the game engine. Unity is a commercial game engine, and if someone doesn't like it being used to make adult games they could make a fatwa and ban 'em.

Also I don't know how to use unity, I could go off for another 12 months and learn how to use it, but I just about figured out how to make characters interact with what I have, so that's not too appealing.

The female models are my own work, I did grab the big ogre dude from a CC-0 repository, but I find when it comes to adult content even people who post technically no strings attached assets suddenly aren't that keen on you using them. Go fig ^_^

The plugin isn't something I'm married to, it indeed doesn't seem to active but it works for the moment and I can always make the game engine spit out a playable .exe file later on. It'd have all the newer features too so I probably will go with that.
