Re: Kyrieru's new game!

Kyrieru delaying games and creating new ones sounds just like me when I start off a writing a story and end up losing heart halfway in favor of a new one. I mean, there's nothing wrong in stopping or pausing something that you find yourself not so enthusiastic about in doing. Heck, forcing yourself is even worse since the quality of the end result is at risk to suffer.

Still, getting into this kind of habit, stopping and starting repeatedly, is not a habit that should be kept for long. It tests the fanbase's faith in the author while at the same time, makes the author question himself.

When you start a marathon, you should always aim to make it to the finish line.

Re: Kyrieru's new game!

Like I mentioned in the post on my blog, this time it's for financial reasons. I haven't released a game in a while, and due to the nature of the larger project , I can't really trust myself to finish it before money becomes an issue.

For that reason, I'm doing something that I'm familiar with, with no story or mechanics to be indecisive about. A lot of the code is carried over from previous games, and at this point it's already about 30% done. Once it's completed, I'll be returning to the previous game.

*Sigh* Is right man...

Your last post was about you finally having fun with the creation of the game.

I guess I just expected certain qualities from you, and this wasn't really one of them.

No amount of bitching is going to get anyone closer to the game, but this is crappy news for me.

Well that was disappointing...

I mean, I'm sure everyone is used to Kyrieru doing this but it's still a disappointment.

Well, good luck with this game, will keep an eye on your blog to see if you return to that project.

Wait..what qualities exactly? I mean,

Crimson Blue - canceled
Crimson Brave - canceled
Kurovadis - released
Eroico - released
3 other games - canceled

Joking aside, I will be returning to the other game. Like I said in the post you mentioned, I am having fun developing it. I'm not burnt out, or bored of it, etc, I just don't want to be in a position where I have to say, cut the content in half so that I can avoid financial problems.

I guess I just expected you to do the things you say. If you're trying to say that you aren't reliable like that... then I guess I have to re-evaluate how I regard you. You want to get paid, I want a great H game. You have to start that equation.

Yeah people in here have pretty much already said what I was thinking when I saw that post x.X I'm kind of at the point of just thinking "Release something already", lol. Maybe it's good that you're running out of time and have to finish something soon.

Re: Kyrieru's new game!

I'm just glad Kyrieru didn't want to alter the original vision of the last game and just to release it half finished. If you need to drastically cut content it will hurt everything in more ways than one, if things were planed from the beginning it gets that much harder to cut or add content that wasn't originally planed it can make a lot of things feel very awkward.

I'm not reliable because I make decisions that I think will lead to better games, rather than the expectations of players. If I say I'll release a demo in a week, and by the end of the week that demo doesn't meet my standards, than I won't release it.

Likewise, if a lack of time due to finances is going to compromise the quality of a project I'm enthusiastic about, than I won't let that happen. I'm going to make a game I know I can make well, and in a short amount of time, so that I can continue to work on that project with confidence.

Sounds good to me. There are lots of game developers out there. Kyrieru's one of the few H devs I can count on to see consistently great games from, and that's worth waiting for releases... I wouldn't mind if you blogged a little more though :)

Anyone have speculation about what the new game's gonna look like? I saw a gun, so I'm guessing it's gonna be more about dodging and keeping your distance than Eroico's block-heavy combat.

The word "Entitled" doesn't do you credit Papa.

Kyrieru asks nothing of his fans and doesn't play hostage with donations like SOME OTHER CONTENT CREATORS we know. Besides, he has a good track record with the games he has released. Screw deadlines. The results are what matter and in that regard, Kyrieru has it nailed down.

Nah, I think it's understandable that people are frustrated with the repeated delays. There's a difference between demanding something of someone and simply expecting them to keep their word. In my case, I change my plans so much that it comes off as unreliable. Which I am.

Dude, he wasn't even rude about the way he put it. It's funny because you're kind of the one white knighting Kyrieru here, lol. Even Kyrieru knows people have a right to be disappointed with all these delays. I think you need to look up the definition of some things before you attack someones post in the future...

When you say you're going to do something at a certain time and you don't do it, multiple times, and people get upset, it has nothing to do with entitlement issues. It's essentially lying to people when you continue to delay things. Of course Kyrieru isn't trying to be malicious or rude with it or anything, shit happens, but people will be upset/disappointed. It's why I always mention it's not a great idea to set dates for things, but a lot of developers like to have release dates for updates and such. I think it's just a really easy way to upset your fanbase, there's so much that can go wrong with game development, especially if you're working on something alone.

I haven't even seen anybody in here be rude towards him about it yet, one of the most understanding threads I've seen for a game that is continually delayed/changed. Normally there'd be some death threats or insults about now :p Go look at the LoK forum or something if you want to see entitlement issues, when somebody is a week off of a schedule they posted, people go bat shit insane like the world is ending and demand things up the ass.

I think your being to hard on yourself game developing is not a easy task ..besides a delayed game bug less and working great with everything you know people will love is better then a broken down half piece of junk in my books.

You may be unreliable, but you do things the way you do to end up at the best outcome possible. You already explained the reasons why you're doing what you're doing, and I have nothing but respect for you. People may bitch, but when we end up with the quality content you deliver, I think it's fair.

Reminds me of Silver Dollar Games. They made so much shovelware just to put food on the table so they could make One Finger Death Punch, a game that was actually good.

Hopefully this new game, equivalent to shovelware that it might be, will still be good.

Re: Kyrieru's new game!

I'm not trying to make a living off making these kinds of games, so if there has been a period of even slight insecurity in terms of your financial wellness, it's reasonable for you to take this route. I was really excited about this game, and it's glad to hear that you plan on continuing it, since you're having a good time making it. As far as your next project, I know that it won't really be quite the content crate that you've made out of this current work, but it's a way for you to get income now. I'll support it if I'm into it. You may have cancelled a few titles, but those that do come out are pretty good and generally the standard for what these games should be like. It wasn't my intention to upset you, but something as stupid as a simple erotic game can make a difference in the day in the life of a guy like me.
