Re: AzureZero new rpg (still untitled)

i would name the game "Fox Tales" or "Fuzzballs" ... or "Foxy Tails and Fuzzy Balls" but long names suck.
you could even name those beastpeople factions like that ^_^

Re: AzureZero new rpg (still untitled)

Okay, I'm uploading the bits I've done so far, feel free to have a look
at , some of these bit's I'm happy with as is but i've yet to do the character portraits :)

and the meeting scene for the main love interest isn't scripted yet, but you can practise bunny hunting and wolfboy evasion, however since there's no scene yet getting caught causes the game to loop :)

other things to check, the recipe system (don't talk to foxy in the debug room, i need to get the gift system to work)
you can practise fighting with your friends once you've found them.
the time system isnt complete yet, in some rooms i had time move faster and in the finished game most actions will add time, foxy should be swimming at the beach (transfer from the debug room red hexagram) after 12

Re: AzureZero new rpg (still untitled)

I got to the point where I was at the house where you practice fighting while trying to find my friends and came upon this "lost forest" type area where it just loops the same screen nonstop. If I'm suppose to find my friends in there then it's basically gonna be deleted right away. DON'T EVER make a map like that in the tutorial. Putting it in the game at all is enough to make most people delete the game as soon as they get there. The game as it is right now it far too cryptic and doesn't really tell you where your suppose to go. It gives a few tiny hints but in a tutorial part of the game you should be showing exactly where you go. This makes testing the game near impossible right now and it needs to be fixed asap.

well, it's an alpha build, but i also think, it's not fit to test the game yet.

It isn't the same screen but i see your point :) would a trail of your friends be better? you found your way there all right though, I didn't want it to be too easy because of egoraptor-

I will change it but you need to know this is more a play around sort of demo i felt i should show what I've got so far, also the friends do give you clues once you've found some of them, only one is in plain sight though :)

A hard RPG is nice and all but putting that right in the tutorial is like a middle finger to the player. Unless you put some sort of clues leading to the right area it makes it impossible to navigate and ruins the game completely. In all honesty as soon as I realized that the screen was repeating I yelled FUCK THIS GAME and shut it off. Even Zelda has ways of knowing which way is the correct way. Yours is 100% trial and error which is one of the worst things to do in any sort of game unless your goal is to piss people off.

It shouldn't take long to make a proper map to search for them in, I thought the slight differences between maps was funny ^^; sorry

I don't mind them in most games but in a RPG maker game it's really hard to notice differences especially since the area is a little big. I honestly wouldn't of been as annoyed if it wasn't in the tutorial part of the game.
The game so far before that part was decently fun but sort of lacked an opening. It needs an opening scene that explains what the games gonna be about. Right now in the demo all you know is that you're a girl, you have friends, and you do chores. Nothing else is known, so if I'm just a random person who bought the game without knowing what the story is about before hand I'm gonna be like "wtf is going on".

I always thought that people would try demos before buying? when a game gets announced it always shows up on here if it's got a good demo, so by the time the game comes out people are a bit excited,

also are you okay with there being a maze of trees instead? there will still be 3 screens but they'll be slightly bigger and all uniquely shaped (still keeping the original screen as one of them though)

edit- would a scrolling text intro work? that teases about all the things that could happen in the span of the game and then you get to name the character?

for the finished demo i was thinking of having a skip straight to the important bit option for those only interested in getting to the porn.

Scrolling text explaining the story would work perfectly fine, but add a way to skip the intro as well for people who want to replay the game.

the credits script allready has that built into it ^^ also you can duplicate it and change the trigger to have different text (i used it for the opening and credits of erojanken also)

Re: AzureZero new rpg (still untitled)

I would just call the foxgirls the japanese name for fox. The english spelling it Kitsune and the hiragana spelling is きつね.

It's alien enough that a native speaker of English wouldn't find it as odd as calling them Foxes beast girls or Fox girls. I think this effect would last even for some one that was a native speaker of English but also spoke Japanese.

On the Japanese side of things, they'd recognizes the word and i think in most cases quickly put to gather the fact that your talking about fox girls. However i don't know if culturally this is a good idea.

Here are some cultural tips on japan. Fox's are consider tricksters so you might want to put that into the game. Don't shoe horn it in, but it would make sense that humans dislike the kitsune because they cause trouble.

If a character is eating noodles, have them make a slurping sound unless it's european noodles. Basically if you don't slurp then you don't think the noodles are good.

This is likely really bad grammar and makes no sense even to a native speaker but maybe your name should be something like "Kitsune wa jeanzu no naka wo shimasu" Roughly this translates to kitsune is doing something in jeans. Again, i'm not sure the grammar is correct. I think it should be "naka de" not "naka wo" and i'd have to make sure jeanzu and naka are spelled correctly.

i could allways go the bakatest route and have a japanese title like Kemono no mori: kitsune to ookami (forest of beasts: foxes and wolves)

first off i was correct about naka being inside but jeans is "jiinzu"

I'd vote for the name but i'd hate to say "forest of beasts" since basically you have 2 beast. That's like saying the sea of fish, that has 200 types of fish.

just as a counter option and because i some how want to wiggle in a sexual reference how about for the last of the name at least "kitsune to ookami to shimasu." (fox, and wolf with you, do something).

Kemono no mori: kitsune to ookami to shimasu.

Re: AzureZero new rpg (still untitled)

Your events are kinda fucked up right now...
I can't move after this, I'm still a child at this point, and it literally breaks the game(When I try to restart the game crashes).
So I finally found all the kids, I have all the items listed on the chore list, but finding all the kids does nothing at all(One of them I can't even talk to), and attempting to head back to the village makes me run into the wolfmen.

the wolfmen are only active for 30 seconds after a rabbit spots you but i uploaded a for you before i went to bed this morning, the wolfboys now transfer you off screen to try again, also hunting practise :) and i changed the forest maps (you now need to have collected all the items your mum wanted to advance to the next play segment but it feels a bit short still so I'll be adding more to it when I've figured it all out)

the 3rd kid still says nothing though, for now you'll have to trust that I'll sort everything out, but wow this is a lot more work than my previous games,

edit- i removed the wolfboys alltogether except the ones in the debug room...since they wont actually be in this part of the game

Re: AzureZero new rpg (still untitled)

Few things in the demo may still be subject to change, planning on cutting down parts of the intro so as to not frustrate the player,

(the sleeping monologue is being changed aswell, instead will be a cutscene depicting things like her meeting with the foxgirl, being scolded by her mother for doing so and continuing to meet her in secret, this would advance the plot and get to the bit everyone wants a bit quicker so I don't need to keep slipping in stealth tutorials, though i still need one for the recipes)

on the plus side this means i can get to the girls 18th birthday after the current day I'm working on now, where the plot kicks in (a week after it anyway)

I haven't tried the trial... But that's because I'm waiting for the full version.

Dude, let me know when it's ready, and I'll buy it too. This is sounding pretty sweet.
