Re: Eroico -Develouped by kyrieru-

edit: are there any other save states besides 3 31 34 33 49 63 58 60, find it hard to think the last 3 would be right before hte last boss and a hellish platforming murder fest
You can input any number for the save points and it will load your game at the corresponding room. The save rooms just overwrite the number in the save file.

Re: Eroico -Develouped by kyrieru-

Went ahead and bought it last night before going to bed and playing it a bit. Realized immediately how ridiculously spoon fed we as gamers have become in comparison to old school games. Reminds me a bit of the original ninja gaiden but with a blocking mechanic. Tough as nails since I'm the guy who runs into a pack of zombies in L4D2 and starts swinging wildly til things die. Yup, I'm that guy lol.

Pretty good game so far though. Will play more this weekend.

Re: Eroico -Develouped by kyrieru-

Wow...ok...

Did not expect it to be this hard. I played on easy on my first time and the platforming on level 2 just killed me endlessly. I got stuck for a good hour trying to get over those red blocks surrounded by spikes everywhere. when I finally got through that, I got stuck for another hour trying to jump up like 6 red blocks upward to reach a ledge.

I understand I may have lost my touch at platformers over the years but it got frustrating in the long run. When you lose to enemies, you get a reward and that's awesome but losing to spikes is not.

I finally got the hang of it when I understood that you need to hit those blocks with a downward slash to get a jump boost. When you get it, it gets pretty easy.

I think the biggest problem despite being a great game is the length. Being short, the learning curve is way too steep. However, I understand the need of it. If it had been easier, most of us would have finished it in an hour at most, saw every animations and all and would then say "what the F**, that's it!"

I loved the design, the graphics were waaayyyy neater than Kuro and the H animations were good (Harpy and Siren stole the show IMHO). Overall, an entertaining if not somewhat frustrating experience.

I'm still glad I bought it and will continue to support the developer in the future.

Re: Eroico -Develouped by kyrieru-

Those damn jumping puzzles in the desert level are like pro level hard. I was cool with all of them except one. The damn red blocks and 2 pillars shooting lasers! Took a couple of hours to get past that.

I'm not sure if it's the jump mechanics or the position of the red blocks that made it so hard. It was rather frustrating to have to stay bouncing on one block to get enough height into the jumps. Staying in one place meant higher chance of getting hit by them lasers and the constant threat of lasers made it hard to calm down and stay in one place.

Anyway, love harpy animation. <3

Level 2 was a pain in the ass, but I beat it. Wasn't that bad now that I look back at it. It was a good couple hours of fun and I enjoyed it using a gamepad.

Level 2 took me half an hour for me.

Also if you're having trouble figuring out the final boss, look up the final boss(es depending on your viewpoint) of Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

So how far apart are the save spots in this game?
I havent seen any after dashing through most of the first level areas over and over and over.

I second the notion that we've been spoon-fed way too much as gamers, and oldschool sidescrollers are what separate the boys from the grizzled nail-eating loggers.

If level 2's difficulty was pasted onto level 3 I would have liked this game a lot more, seeing as how level 3 is extremely easy in comparison.

There are two save points per level, so they're spread out pretty far.

The 2nd level has huge performance issues that really make it impossible to do the spike jumps.

Re: Eroico -Develouped by kyrieru-

I want to post a long winded review, but it is not easy to spout vitriol so directly. This gets a solid 85/100, but Kuro set a high water mark. Here's why:

- Just a little VO is a great accent.

- The CG is good, but not great. I suggest the animator takes some perspective lessons and/or work with established artists (for pay, not percentages).

- The H animations are generally pretty predictable. This could be easily alleviated with just a splash of novelty, e.g. the harpy (already one of the best looking animations) pulls the protagonist into the air, finishes with him, and drops him back to the surface for 2 DMG. I could go on with suggestions, but the idea is clear, I think, and the author is more creative than I.

- I won't rehash the difficulties with platforming in this game, but suffice it to say that where Eroico is frustratingly difficult in the pacing and length of puzzles, Kurovadis was highly rewarding, while subjectively seeming nearly as difficult; using new but still tricky-to-master abilities to explore a previously inaccessible region was a joy.

- Referring back to an earlier point; the final GOR animation and CG were surprisingly anticlimactic. Protagonist is trying to destroy them all, and though she's been cheering him on (nice touch!) all she wants to do is get comfortable for a benign session on her 'evil' bed. Fun to watch, but hard to understand.

- Ammo pickups are sparse, making it difficult to rely on passing enemies with the gun. In some RPG's (i.e. those with an item shop or re-visitable resupply points) this would be fine, but here, I just tried to never use it, making the mechanic something of a distraction. Just being able to revisit the save point to reload would be nice.

- Sprites that can follow you through an entire level are just flat annoying. Evading a harpy (due to not wanting to use the gun?) only to have her and three or four others give chase across great distance seems unfair and irritating, rather than a true challenge.

I'll probably wind up deleting this before anyone sees it, but if this gets to you, kyrieru: know that I'm only discussing what I would hope to see improved, and I still regard you highly as an animator and game designer. H or no, this is quality game design in general. But, I think, your talent is capable of pushing you to higher quality still, as evinced in your previous work.

Re: Eroico -Develouped by kyrieru-

Yeah, not too poke holes at the CG, while he obviously put a lot of effort into the pictures and has a good amount of skill, some of them weren't that great. It annoyed me a bit that the sprite animation didn't reflect the CG at all, with the titjob and blowjob animation followed by a regular sex pic, or with the turned-female-and-tribbing animation followed by a comedic soft porn pic with hardly any nudity. It's just a little disappointing to follow hardcore sprite action with softcore CG.

Kyrieru here is example of how the difficulty settings should change how the levels look and honestly it would be a nice boost for bringing in more players as they get a fun and entertaining game but also can try out the levels are harder difficulties with minor changes done to them.

This game was a blast to play and I have to say I love the Lizard woman and Dragon Woman. The only thing I wish was more Monster girls or poses....that or one more level.
