Re: Healing the Soul (ranger)

Chloe: HP = 80, PP = 73, EP = 61/79, Status = Fine, Pregnant, Find (Stephanie), Greater Illusion, Upkeep = 1 EP

"Uhhh... Well... Fuck if I know," he said hesitantly, seemingly unsure of what to do himself given how little she had said. "What would we even tell people? And how would we do it?"

Minutes would pass, with teachers coming in groups, some waiting for larger groups to form before joining the Dean. Eventually, after nearly an hour, it seemed like most of the Academy's staff had gone downstairs, and after another hour or so the Dean, Greyback, and most of them would return, elementals carrying students and what looked like soldiers into the infirmary. Many looked horribly malnourished, and almost all of them were filthy and nude. None of them were conscious, and several teachers began calling on faeries, something not done lightly, for assistance in healing.

"Greyback... Go and find Ardenor," Chloe would hear the Dean whisper gravely, just before she finally spotted both Stephanie and Carly among those being ferried up by summoned creatures. Ardenor was a mind mage, a psychic who instructed those who came to the Academy with similar gifts, and to have him called in was fairly odd given the situation.

Re: Healing the Soul (ranger)

After what seemed a while and no more faculty showed up Chloe let her illusion drop as she waited tensely. As she waited she chastised herself for thinking ill of the professor Greyback obviously she wasn't involved. She even scolded herself mentally about Saijen though clearly he missed the fact people had gone missing just a room over. Her internal thoughts however where disrupted as the first victims started to come up. Thankfully her training went into immediate effect as she began to assist where she could. Gathering blankets and reading beds for the wounded. When Carly and Steph came up she tried to keep her composure but couldn't help but run to their side. "Step, Carly!"

Both Steph and Carly were out cold, and offered no response to Chloe or any efforts she might make to rouse them. Neither of them seemed to be harmed, but if she checked them over Chloe would find that both were pregnant, which had not been true of Carly at least before she had gone missing. The Dean would approach her after a few minutes, however, and said; "Miss... Student, we need to ask you a few questions."

Watching Steph and Carl go on with out any response was disheartening but as she was addressed by the Dean Chloe composed herself. "I will answer the best I can." She waited for the first question to be asked though she didn't know how much she could help. She had no idea what might have happened until recently. Even then she only knew a little, if anything in regards to this incident.

"Come with me," the Dean said, and then led her to a side room and closed the door. "What do you know about what has happened this day? Go over everything that led you up to my office. Skip no details."

Re: Healing the Soul (ranger)

"Of course." Gathering her thoughts a moment Chloe spoke. "Well I noticed something specious a few days ago. It was during the party in town for the troops before they assaulted the city. A group of soldiers were talking about one of their friends who had come up to academy to get his leg looked at. After the party and on the next day I decided to check it out and found out that the man had been released for outside care. I thought that was strange sense he was just a soldier not a noble or rich trader. Im sure you could ask Sajin or Professor Greyback about it they signed the papers for his release. Anyway I didn't get much of a chance to investigate the oddity further sense the wounded from the battle started to come in. After that cleared up myself and Steph found out we had been careless and are with child. I think Steph came here this morning to get it treated and Carly went to find her so we could meet back up. When neither came back I got worried and came looking using the find spell and well thats how we got to here."

"So a lost soldier made you start looking... You say Greyback and.... Saijen, presumably one of the other healers, signed for his release?" the Dean asked for confirmation, "could you tell me the man's name? We need to look at those records." When Chloe gave it, he went over to the records and started looking for the file, and once he founded it he confronted Greyback, who was helping with the healing.

"I never signed for that," she said immediately, "I almost never come down to the healer's chambers, and I certainly don't sign release papers for men I don't know. Look, that isn't even my handwriting." The Dean seemed to agree with her, and when the Dean turned to her Chloe would see that Saijen was now nowhere to be found.

It seemed Chloe would owe the professor an apology later. Still Saijen was up to no good. He had a hand in this and it had hurt her friends. Thinking quickly Chloe called up her powers and caste find on the man.

Chloe's magic failed, finding no hint of the man she had attempted to find. "I was afraid of this," the Dean said, having tried the exact same spell, "he won't be easy to find... And we don't even know what he did." He turned back to Chloe, "you may return to your duties, student, if we have more need of you, I will send someone."

Re: Healing the Soul (ranger)

Frustrated and upset Chloe would not bother the dean further no would she disobey him. Instead she would head out to her room but not before checking on Carly and Steph if she could reach them. Heading back to her room Chloe kept an eye out. This turn of events had made her rather paranoid. What if Saijen or his cohorts would strike at her next. She had been snooping around but wouldn't they rather just flee? Unsure of the exact situation Chloe looked at her door to her dorm. She almost didn't want to go in there, but its where the Dean expected her to be. Frowning and pushing her thoughts on spending the night with Nina aside Chloe opened the door and entered her room. First thing she would do would be to lock the door and place an alarm spell on her side set to allow herself, Nina, or the Dean. The next thing she did was stuff her bed with extra cloths and pillows to make a body shape before crawling into Carly's bed to rest. Her she would sit and wait and rest hoping that Carly and Steph would be alright.

Chloe could reach her roommates, but both of them were seemingly comatose. Going back to her dorm, Chloe would set up her protections and then went down to bed in Carly's bed instead of her own. It turned out to be a good thing too, as her alarm spell silently awakened her as something came... Pouring under her door. It was dark, too dark to see, but she could sense it, could feel it slowly taking shape as it slid under the door and rose, the only question was how she would react.

Re: Healing the Soul (ranger)

For a moment Chloe sat terrified. What the hell was this thing? Quickly she wracked her brain for any bits of lore she could recall and failing utterly. She had little time to ponder however and needed to act. At first she just wanted to blast it but that would prove far to dangerous after all its not like she lived alone and she had the students in her hall to worry about. Instead she would attempt to capture it. Focusing her mind Chloe cast her chains of light spell on the mass of shadows but only after it had fully formed she didn't want to chance it escaping due to its incorporeal nature.

Rolls
Magic Resistance: Pass.
Resistance: ???

Chains appeared around the strange abomination, wrapping around its liquid form, and for a few moments it held perfectly still. It was beginning to bleed out of its binding, however, drooling out around her magical chains and coalescing on the floor. It probably wouldn't be held for very long.

Re: Healing the Soul (ranger)

Chloe blinked for a moment before dropping the spell and bringing up some her attack magics. Her first instinct was to strike out with her most powerful of magics but realizing she had other people in her hallway that might get hit stopped her. Instead she focused on something that wouldn't destroy her room and half the hallway with it. Feeling the energy build in her hands Chloe put her effort in blasting the creature with a cone of light and fire. Sure the door would be blasted apart and the beds likely to be blasted to pieces, but at lest the books protective enchantments would keep them mostly safe.

Chloe: HP = 80, PP = 73, EP = 55/79, Status = Fine, Pregnant

Rolls
Magic Resistance: Pass.
Attack: Hit.
Damage: 2 + 6 + 1 + 1 + 6 + 2 = 18, 18 * 6 = 108, 108/2 = 54 damage.
Resistance: ???

Chloe's spell washed over the creature as it thrashed in the grip of her chains of light, a blinding flash of power causing it to briefly appear in all its wretched glory. The thing was transparent and nearly shapeless, a vaguely humanoid form and a few oblong shapes inside of its mass the only recognizable things about it. Her magic caused it to blacken on its outer edge, portions of it dissolving into the air, leaving it as little more than a puddle on the floor by the time her flaring light faded.

The door burst open suddenly, two mages bursting in with bleary eyes like people who had been asleep until recently. Both were lesser professors, one from the magical creatures division and the other an evoker, but she didn't know either of them by name. "What happened?" one of them, the redheaded elven woman who worked in magical creatures asked severely.

Re: Healing the Soul (ranger)

Getting up still stunned herself Chloe pointed to the puddle. "Something tried to attack me." Whether or not the professors believed her Chloe had a magic charge in her hand just in case the attack wasn't over. Was she the only one it targeted? Could others be in danger?

By the time Chloe pointed to it, the puddle was gone, vanished as if it had never been there in the first place. The professors looked at it, but surprisingly didn't seem incredulous at her claim. "Did you get a good look at it? Do you know what attacked you?"

Chloe looked at the spot where the creature was. "It was liquid like. It was dark and I could not make out any fine details but it had a humanoid shape. I tried to bind it but that didn't seem to work so.. well you know the rest." Chloe pointed to the blasted section of the room before pulling blankets around herself feeling suddenly chilled. Something had come after her. Would they stop at the single attempt or would there be more?

"Like a slime?" the evocation professor asked, "did it seem to take any specific shape?" When Chloe answered, the two would exchange a look and then the other one would sigh. "The Dean was right then... You're in grave danger miss, come with us." They motioned for her to follow them out of her room, "we've got extra security on those in the infirmary, but you're the one they know about having information and the one who let us discover what was happening. We need to make sure you're safe while this... Sorcerer... Is dealt with."

Re: Healing the Soul (ranger)

Chloe frowned and gathered up a couple things, a book Nina had lent her, a change of cloths, and her trusty knife. She held the blade which was basically worthless considering her magical power and elements at her command, but ever sense Grace had given it to her she couldn't bare to be with out it, and given the situation she suddenly wished she had taken Tesnya's offer for training her to use it. Still as she followed the other professors she took comfort in it being at her side.
