The angels seemed unfazed and offered no response to Ama's quip. Of course, there would likely be a biting rebuke when the time came, but that would have to wait.

As they stepped off into the driving rain and biting wind the question was, how would the three of them handle the aliens that were sure to be spreading through the city? Would they fight them, or try to sneak around them?

They would have to answer the question as they saw a group of four grabbers trundling past the exit of an alley they were moving through at the edge of the temple district. The grabbers hadn't seen them, but they had to cross a large, wide open road to get to the next alleyway.

Steath a fight would only draw more of the grabbers. Moving quickly Ama would check the area before dashing across if it was clear. Here she would keep an eye out and motion the others to cross as well. Hopefully such tactics would win the night for them and they would reach the manor easily.

Re: New Day for a Succubus (ranger) GMed by sturm

rolls:
Perception: 39 Elizabeth spots a hunter
Casts lightning bolt at Hunter: 63 vs 50 hit
damage: 36 hunter is moderately damaged and stunned

Ama's tactic was sound, and the group made it across the street with little trouble, the storm working in their favor and making it difficult for anything to pick them out in the darkness and rain, and the wind obscured their voices and the sound of their footfalls.

They made it through the government district before the tactic was almost used effectively against them, "Look out, it's a hunter!" Elizabeth shouted out before firing a lightning bolt from her hand and electrocuting a hunter that had been hiding on a rooftop. "I looked up and caught its silhouette in a lightning flash." She explained.

The celebration was short lived, even as they stood their, the hunter grunted and twitched its arms and legs, glaring at them as it tried to get back up to its feet and attack them. Grabbers made the scene more complicated as two jumped out of a smashed window at the end of the alley while two more rolled down from the same roof the hunter had been on. All five were in front of them, with two grabbers in between them and the hunter. It was a fight in the alley!

Elizabeth was indeed impressive with her magic and sword play. In fact it almost spurred a little competition. As the hunters emerged Ama dodge to the side to line them up and let loose with her own lighting. It was a deep purple boarding on black but sense the enemy had lined up nicely for her she wasn't going to waste it.

Devils's lighting X = 5

Stats:
EP: 50/55

Rolls:
-10 to dodge for all due to tight confines of the alley
Ama's black lightening vs Hunter, adult grabber 1, 2, 3, 4
38 vs 24, 36, 29, 36, 27 All hit!

60, 35, 35, 40, 55 hunter and grabber 4 dead, grabbers 1 and 2 moderately wounded, grabber 3 badly wounded

Lucia uses a large holy hammer on grabber 1: 33 vs 30 hit
49 damage, grabber 1 dead

Elizabeth uses lightening enhanced longsword on grabber 2: 45 vs 29 hit
27 damage, grabber 2 dead

grabber 3 recovering from wound loses turn

Ama's black lightening attack was an exceptionally brilliant use of spiritual power, the dark colored lightning wasn't overly flashy in the dark knight, and in the cramped, wet alleyway there was simply nowhere for the aliens to dodge. The hunter and one of the closer grabbers were quickly fried to death by the demonic lightening while the other nearby grabber was badly wounded. The two grabbers at the end of the alley were somewhat incapacitated by the attack. Lucia used the opportunity to rush past the dying grabber to smash one of the less-injured grabbers while Elizabeth joined her, her sword crackling with lightening. The governess killed the other grabber, her lightening-blade slicing neatly through it. That left one more badly injured grabber, struggling to right itself, for Ama to deal with how she would.

Moving quickly Ama simple moved up and stabbed the creature with little mercy and gave it another for good measure. Looking on Ama nodded and gestured for them to lead they way.

Re: New Day for a Succubus (ranger) GMed by sturm

As Ama yanked her sword from the grabber's body, she noticed something with a dull shine inside it. Plucking from the thing's corpse, she found that it was a darkheart, essentially a cyst of magical energies that formed within the bodies of creatures that were exposed to too much magic in too short a time. They were commonly used in enchantments and could be sold for a decent amount of denarii. She was able to pocket it if she wanted before continuing on.

The trio was able to make it almost to their destination before encountering anything else, most of the noise, fighting, and occasional explosions happening behind them in the lower-class portions of the city. Disturbingly, the sounds had not abated as she might have hoped. Rather, they seemed to be increasing in volume, indicating that the fighting was spreading. They witnessed a horrific sight when they reached the docks as not just one, but two of the alien behemoths as well as a steady stream of grabbers began to emerge from the river and do battle with the scattering of guards who converged on them from the factories they had been stationed to guard. "Gods above..." Lucia stood still as she gaped at the alien vanguard that had just risen out of the water and was fighting the determined, but badly outnumbered town guard.

"That's..." Elizabeth was speechless for a few seconds as she stared at the monstrous alien force. Then she hung her head in shame at her next utterance. "Our boat is over there..." She pointed to the right, to a secluded dock well away from the action that was a fair bit closer to the island where DeGraff was likely hiding. "Let's go, we have to get to DeGraff."

"What?!" Lucia looked at the governess, incredulous. "Those are your people, your soldiers! They fight loyally for their city, they'll die if we don't help them!" The impassioned plea brought tears to Elizabeth's eye.

"I know! I know... but the angels, you passed out after you summoned them so you didn't hear when they told me... If we don't get to DeGraff he's going to kill everyone and every alien in the city! There's apparently a ritual in place that will allow him to sacrifice the city in an instant in a blood ritual to massively increase his own power."

The revelation brought a look of horror to the nun's face. "He can do that?"

"I don't think the angels would lie. We have to go!"

"But..." Lucia looked from Elizabeth to Ama desperately, unable to make a decision and wanting another opinion from the demon.

Ama chewed her lip before deciding on an action. "You and Elzibeth get the boat ready I will see what I can do to help these guards." Ama moved once more taking flight to land on a nearby roof. She had to get close far closer than what she wanted to. Looking at the alien behemoths she chose the closest one and focus her power. Eyes glowing red she sent her thoughts into the alien's mind to snatch it for her own. If that failed then she would unlesh her black lighting on the whole mess trying to buy some time for the guards.

Combat
Ama uses Charm on the behemoth
If that fails then its Devil's lighting X =11 trying to thin the numbers out.

Rolls:
Charm 6EP vs behemoth 45 vs 42 of all the times for you to roll a twenty haha
With tearful goodbyes, the nun and the governess and they ran off to ready the boat.

What was most disconcerting about her plan was that even on the roofs, she was only at head level of the behemoths. The things were massive. However, Ama's willpower was strong as well, and with a herculean effort she able to force her way into one of the things minds. It's mind, was large....but shallow, not an intelligent one, but there was enough to make manipulation difficult. Of course, as she had taken control of its mind, it stopped moving and making attacks against the soldiers.

Re: New Day for a Succubus (ranger) GMed by sturm

She had to force this thing to attack its allies she was just not powerful enough for it to reliably work so just in case Ama got into a full defensive crouch. "Guards fall back and regroup!" Turning her attention to the thing once more "Attack the grabbers!" Maybe.. just maybe.. it would work.

Combat
Ama gos on the full defense after issuing the order to attack.
-Full Defense: Defend yourself, giving up all other actions in exchange for a +30 bonus to Dodge and Resistance and a +15 bonus to Perception for that round.

Re: New Day for a Succubus (ranger) GMed by sturm

Ama: force behemoth to attack allies resistance check 33 vs 49 charm command resisted, prompted to resist charm

behemoth vs Ama resistance check 45 vs 30 throws charm

Enemies Remaining: alien behemoth x2 large crowd of various grabbers

Behemoth 1 attacks Ama: 68 vs 86

As Ama focused, she attempted to force the behemoth to attack its allies, the grabbers. All of her power was focused on the mental attack, a thin trail of blood flowed from her nose. It wasn't enough, she couldn't muster enough power to force such a broadly expansive mind against its prior convictions. This failure prompted it to realize something was wrong and triggered it's desire to fight back against its oppressor, Ama. This time she wasn't able to hold her control over his mind.

Free of her control, the faceless beast turned towards her, and with a quickness that was belied by its size it rushed towards the building she had taken aim from, crushing a number of grabbers along the way. It pulled back an arm and smashed down with its massive fist. Ama just barely managed to take off from the building as it smashed a large portion of the roof and wall in.

Damn taking to the air and with the interest of the Behemoth fully on her Ama smiled gleefully. Diving around at fast speed she would have the brute chase her causing it to smash its own troops.

Combat
Fly like crazy to taunt the thing into smash its own minons!

Rolls
Not sure if there is a +dodge for flying, so I'll give you a generous one

Behemoth attacks Ama: 93 vs 65 o_O oh dear...well you got a max roll for dodge so we'll work this out... Half damage? Half damage.

It rolled one higher than the minimum for damage :p
But that's still kind of a lot :(
3+ 37=40/2=20 damage

Ama's tactic was initially quite successful, as she led the giant on a merry chase, crossing through the masses of grabbers multiple times and flattening many of them. This gave the men on the ground a fighting chance, as it dramatically thinned the amount of fodder they had to chew through before they could fight the other behemoth. Unfortunately for her, the beast must have been created from something with a lot of agility , or luck, because it finally caught her with a well-placed fist that hit her like a brick wall and sent her hurtling back across one of the rooftops, skidding and tumbling her way well clear of the fight. She would probably feel that for awhile.

As she lay there recovering, blood oozing from numerous cuts and scrapes, it occurred to her that Lucia and Elizabeth had to have reached the boat by now and were likely waiting for her, which given the current situation, was not a good thing. If they weren't at the boat, it meant that something had delayed them for quite awhile, which given the strength they shared, meant it would take something strong to stop them and they would need her help. She was unable to see the docks they had mentioned because of the storm, so she couldn't tell what the situation was over there. What she was keenly aware of, however, was the sections of roof that were collapsing in a path towards her as the behemoth beat a path to her straight through the building she was on top of, meaning she needed to move fast.

Blink Ama struggled to her feet only to catch a glimpse of a building starting to fall right at. Scrambling Ama took to the air again ducking behind a building to avoid the sight of the monster. Hopefully she would lose it and make her way to the docks hoping Lucia and Elzibeth had made it safe.

Re: New Day for a Succubus (ranger) GMed by sturm

Rolls:
Ama stealth check: 31 vs 18 Ama gets away

Ama managed to flip over the edge of the building and take off down the side of another warehouse and hide behind it. Fortunately for her all of the aliens seemed to be fighting the guards, and thinking of them, hopefully they had managed to get enough momentum with one of the behemoths gone because after smashing down several walls and ruining a couple of warehouses, the thing gave up chasing her and turned around, lumbering back towards the other guards.

Whatever might be happening in the battle between guards and aliens, the sights and sounds of it were lost to the wind and rain of the storm. Making her way to the docks, she found Lucia and Elizabeth crouched nervously in a small boat, holding some barrel lids over their heads to serve as protection from the rain. Neither spoke when Ama arrived, though Lucia looked at her hopefully, while Elizabeth could only avert her gaze, seemingly pained by her earlier decision.

Ama got into the boat wiping the blood from her face. "I did what I could but honestly you guys should have already been going." It had to be clear despite the darkness of the storm that Ama had taken a huge hit and despite being supernaturally tough her skin still bruised and bruised it did hardly even waiting. "Save your energy we are going to need it I'm sure"

Re: New Day for a Succubus (ranger) GMed by sturm

Both women looked downcast at Ama's word of the battle, not reassured about the fate of the guardsmen. However, they cast off the boat and started rowing out towards the island.

When she noticed Ama's wounds, Lucia wouldn't hear of any rejections, and placed her hands firmly on Ama's chest, seemingly professional about the matter of placing her hands on the demonic breasts, and channeled divine healing energy into Ama. It didn't quite seem natural to the demon, but she did feel a little better for it. Lucia sat back and returned to rowing. "We need you at your best if we're to have a chance against DeGraff and his men."

The trio worked against the wind and waves, trading out when one became too tired. It took almost an hour, but finally they made it to the cliff side of the island that faced the factory district and things seemed to slack off, the stone face blocking the wind from churning up the sea. True to Elizabeth's report, obscured on both sides by rocky outcroppings, was a small dock. They pulled in and disembarked from the tiny boat. All three women were soaked to the bone and worn down from the effort, but they couldn't stop outside. Following Elizabeth they made their way into a cleverly concealed tunnel in the cliff face. It was fairly dry, though they could hear the wind and watch the rain drive past right outside. The three women huddled together for warmth, and Elizabeth gave them a brief rundown.

"DeGraff would never expose himself to harm in a time like this. I'm positive he'll be away from most entrances. He'll probably be in the keep, it's the most defensible location, though I'm not positive where. If I were to wager, I'd put him at the top floor, that was where he spent most of his time before he deposed me. Also, there's likely a fair number of guards here, all loyal to him. He's probably got at least thirty, too many to fight head on, but a good little force to have to do what he will after he kills everyone else. We can take secret passages to bypass most of the manor, but we'll still likely come across guards, it'll be important to take them out as quickly and quietly as we can." After giving them a moment, she continued. "Do you guys know anything about him? Any weaknesses we can exploit? I'm afraid I don't have much to offer in that department..."

"Hes a man." Thats all Ama had to offer but maybe Lucia had more info either way they would keep moving Ama with her blade out no doubt backed by Elzibeth and Lucia. It was only a matter of time before they ran into their first obstacle just what would it be.

Lucia didn't have any information either and the three of them set out. They followed the tunnel to the point where it ended, the natural stone walls of the cave ending with a smooth stone wall of that was part of the mansion. "This is where the secret entrance is...let's see...ah, here's the spot." Elizabeth pushed a brick on the wall and the entire thing flipped open, letting them into a cellar room. It was fairly open, empty but for a few barrels, and unfortunately, two very surprised looking guards.

"Uh...Hey! You can't be in here! Get them!" The two men drew swords and advanced on them.

"You don't want to do that boys." Ama tried to charm one of the men as they advanced. She stood in front of Elzibeth and Lucia hoping that the other two wouldn't be seen at lest not clearly. If it worked she would repeat the process on the other. If not then well it was a fight.
