Re: Mazes within a Steel Jungle (Shrike7)

Archive access, stopped just short of redacted files, so needless to say, Far enough that he's lucky he wasn't killed on sight when we took him, and River, I'm dead serious, he's lucky to still be breathing, we haven't had this kind of breach in a decade... Corvinus said, rubbing his temples as he just drained the glass and set it aside before glaring at Mouse.

Jessica, check his heartbeat. Did you take anything from those archives, and hide them elsewhere. You have one shot to tell the truth, before I move this to a full interrogation, and there are no lawyers Here. Corvinus muttered, his voice low as Jessica perked up her ears.

"Umm... N.. yes, safety deposit box in central national, there's a drive there with most of what I had... Number 416, i'll" He was cut off as Jessica nodded and Corvinus sighed softly before heading over to the intercom by his door. Central national, box 416, I want it destroyed within the hour, no problems. he muttered angrily, before sitting down You know, this is one of those rare moments, when your entire future rests in the hands of another person, and you'd best hope she likes you. Corvinus hissed dangerously, more then a little pissed off and not bothering to hide it in the slightest.

Like I said River, it's your call, I can find him a job, but the security around him is going to be of a kind I don't like to use, or we can wipe his mind, and let him go. Since Killing him would probably not sit all that well with you. If you say he can do his job, and not tear this Tower down around his own ears, then i'll trust you and send him down to Level 87, otherwise, it's to Henrietta and out the door with the technological skills of a 2nd grader.

Re: Mazes within a Steel Jungle (Shrike7)

River groaned as she heard how far Mouse had gotten, knowing at least the stuff on her before the incident with the wraith was on there, which likely made things a little harder. She added her own ‘get serious‘ look when Corvinus asked if he had extra info hidden, surprised to hear that he had managed not only to break in, but to do it so well that he had time to run to the bank and back before they caught on.

When it came time for her answer, the woman sighed slowly, slumping into her seat a bit. “youKre right, that doesn‘t sit at all well with me. You can‘t just wipe him either, that‘s pretty well all he‘s got. Give him a job, but let him in on everything, at least as much as I know. If you don‘t, he‘ll just find a way to dig it out anyways.“ she explained, pausing the give a look between the boss and Mouse.

“Besides, he‘s obviously better than whoever you‘ve got now. I‘ve not heard of any better than him, but you need an upgrade anyways, if this proves nothing else. He‘s a good kid, regardless of what you think. Treat him well and he‘ll do right by ya, always has for me.“

Corvinus looked at Mouse one last time, before glancing at River as she answered, and nodding. Very Well, welcome to the Tower, Mouse. You're now part of the Tech security division, you'll be headed down to level 87 tomorrow morning, for now... Well, you get a tour, and a debrief, you WILL be living here for now. Fair warning Mouse, while River didn't have this problem, you most certainly will. Do Not slip your leash, until proven otherwise, you're considered a high risk employee. Ahhh ah ah, Don't say a damned word, I'm still angry, There's a woman outside named Ginger Collasky, she'll be your handler for now, go. Corvinus snarled, pointing at the door, even going so far as to cut Mouse off before he could protest.

Mouse, for his part, simply slumped a little deeper, probably reminding himself that he wasn't dead, or in federal prison, or worse judging from what he had heard, before standing and heading outside where an unusually short, blonde woman was waiting for him, her hair down to her ass and wearing a business suit almost identical to the one River had seen Corvinus wear himself. Turning on her heel, she started walking, and Mouse, who could be said to be intelligent, didn't protest, simply following.

He'll have an interesting day, I'll have his room number texted to you River, so you can calm him down and explain a bit I suppose...

River listened along with Corvinus' verdict, nodding to Mouse in what she thought was a reassuring way, before he was led out. Turning back to the boss man, she nodded again. "Yeah, he'll be twitchy for a bit, but once the noose lightens up some, I think he'll be okay. Probably a good idea to chat with him sometime soon, though." She answered, glancing around a bit before standing.

"Need anything else, or should I get out of your way?"

Corvinus sighed softly and rubbed his head. No, you're fine to go about everything at your own pace, though I know Vorlan was asking around for you, but he didn't want to interrupt anything. Really River, I'm sorry for all the trouble around here, and for what's happened, but you're managing amazingly well, I'm still convinced bringing you in was the right call. Has there been any word from John? After he spoke to you, he vanished off the radar again.

Jessica chuckled from her place quietly, before sticking her tongue out at Corvinus and pulling at her hair. He's got a good point, most we find too late, like myself or Vorlan, or even Chuck, least you got a choice I suppose, and all the info you needed. Learning on your own, out there? It can get rough. She giggled, clearly excited about seeing Vorlan, but it was Jessica, she was easily excited about a lot of things.

"I'm just better at hiding it, then." River answered with a wry smile, shrugging. "Been flying by the seat of my pants, makes it real easy not to stop and think about how crazy this all is. I'm sure I got a real nice breakdown for you guys to fuss over coming, eventually."

Sighing, she answered Covinus's other question. "Haven't heard anything from John yet, which makes sense, as I haven't really left the building since then. Sort of, i guess the training this morning counted. Only contact i have is that number he gave you, and since he said single use, I wasn't going to try it." She explained. "I thought Vorlan wasn't visiting till tomorrow?"

Pretty sure, he just wants to see Jess Corvinus rasped mid laughter as he wandered back to his rum while Jess just grinned like a cat. So what? My business, not yours. she said, still managing to have the decency to blush a little before standing and stretching.

I'm gonna go get me some Fox boy one way or the other, I want dinner to, preferably somewhere other then here, He keeps telling me about a great seafood place, and I've been waiting a whole month away from real food to try it, So... River, you're free to join if you'd like, but it seems like you need a night outside yourself to relax, and Corvinus, shut it, I've seen her, at night? She's untouchable now, so just let her have this.

Fine, go on, I'm too lazy to be brutal task master tonight, at least do me a favour and check in on eachother, just in case, and it's fine. Go, relax, have some fun.

River hesitated a moment. "Well, I figure mages still got stuff that'd work, and that's kinda the point, isn't it?" She said, shrugging. "You go on though, just don't use my room for 'your business'. I'll check in on Mouse, then just stick inside for the night. Plenty to do here, anyways." She said, following Jess out of Corvinus' office, continuing the conversation in the elevator.

"Yeah, I'm burnt out enough that outside is just a calm walk anyways, you go have fun. Make sure he's got enough gusto to actually train with me tomorrow though, eh?" She said with a smirk, glancing over at the vampire.

Sure... Promise not to wear him out to much, and no, we wont be using your bed, beds are no fun. Jess chuckled, before River hit her floor, Jess apparently intent on heading down to the lobby and out, she had a plan... and it involved an unusually odd man.

What River did was up to her really, but her phone went off with Mouse's room number and an all clear, apparently his initial tour was finished.

"Heh, whatever you say, Jess." River answered wryly, stepping out to let the vampire head for the lobby. Her phone beeped, and she gathered Mouse's new room from it. She considered blinking down there, but decided it was probably the last thing the man needed right then, so she simple called the elevator again, heading to his room and knocking on it gently, offering a simple 'Hey.' when he opened it.

Mouse seemed, shaken? That was too kind, and in response to River's greeting, he just shrank back into his room and flopped onto the couch. "So... Explanations would be nice... And I told you so will not be well recieved..."

He didn't seem to be handling all of this well at all, not even a little, but he wasn't fighting it either, like he had much of a choice...

"I.. Uh.. yeah. I'm sorry, man." She answered, glancing around the place as she flopped in as well, settling in beside him on the couch. "They're a decent sort, you just started on the wrong end, if you know what I mean. Not really sure what I can offer in terms of explanations, still figuring it all out myself, but I can try, if you have questions." She offered, leaning back.

"Questions? That a joke? I find those archives full of shit like vampires and footage, and what I had of you in the cell, and then my house gets raided by people with assault rifles? The Shit!? Is all this shit for real? It's a dream, I'm gonna wake up here soon, and have a sandwich, yea, I've finally cracked and this is all a dream, because it sure as shit doesn't make sense in reality!" Mouse said, ranging from a whisper to hysterics for a moment before wringing his hair and calming down.

"Seriously, the fuck is going on here River?"

River just listened, nodding slowly. "Yeah. It's all here, I've met and seen a lot of that proven with my own eyes." She admitted.

"As for what's going on here, in this building... To be honest, I only have guesses. Obviously, all this shit has been pretty well hidden, a large part of what goes on here has got to be keeping it that way. Apart from that, i unno, they have like a bubble city thing going on, but I don't really know the real 'why' behind it." She explained, pausing a second before asking a question of her own. "Uh... What all did you see of me in that cell? I asked they not stick that in the archive with the rest, but i suppose that wouldn't have counted for the first bits anyways."

Mouse hesitated, clearly not sure how to answer River's question "I... I'm not sure what I saw, just flashes and stop that didn't make any sense, and you were there, but it was really short, because then you... weren't... anymore, I can't explain it. Then there's a video of that woman you were with tearing people apart, and all the supernatural shit, fuck, I need a drink, and drugs, I need lots of drugs." he said, starting to ramble and pulling at his hair.

Near hysterics and having absolutely nothing of his own in this place, although thankful to be alive, none of it was obviously doing his state of mind any good.

"Never thought of you as a drug person, don't know why." River commented slowly, trying to take his attention off a bit. "I dunno about those, but I can get a hold of some booze, for sure. Guess I got a fair bit of time, too. Could wander over to your place and grab a few things, if ya want."

Re: Mazes within a Steel Jungle (Shrike7)

"My place... Trust me, the only piece of tech they left still standing was the laptop they took, everything else was torched... Wait! my cat is still in the house though, or wandered off... I think, I don't even remember feeding it. On second thought, the cat was a furry hell spawn and I don't want it. But the drinks? Those would be great... And, Iunno, they said to call down for food, but... It's not poisoned is it? I really don't like it here."

Despite the sheer absurdity of half of what Mouse was actually saying, it was mostly just hysterics, though his hatred of said cat, and need of a good drink seemed to make enough sense, before a knock at the door sounded, and Mouse' handler, Ms. Collasky, strode into the room, glaring at River. Well well well, aren't we the popular one. It pays to have friends in the right places Mr. Dorellon, be particularly thankful to Ms. Faulk here, I've been instructed to return your laptop, and to seize yours, Ms. Faulk, for inspection, it wont take long, my word. She whispered, her voice almost feather soft as she handed out the sleek black case to Mouse.

Simply give me permission to enter your room, and take it for inspection, and I'll be on my way, you'll have it returned by the evening, one way or the other.

"Yeah, the food's fine, or I'd be dead already myself, i'm sure." River said, chuckling a little. "Look on the bright side, you're sure to handle much more expensive toys here, aren't you?"

She stopped when the other woman entered the room, frowning a bit at Collasky's tone and attitude. "Just call me River, please." She said slowly, raising an eyebrow at mention of her own laptop. "I have two now, the new one, and the paperweight, which one do you need?" She asked, shrugging.

Re: Mazes within a Steel Jungle (Shrike7)

Obviously, the one you refer to as the paperweight Ms. Faulk. As for how you'd like to be named, I don't rightfully care, my task here is quite literally inquisitorial, and it's my job at this very moment to ensure that all loose ends regarding this... Person, are tied off quickly and quietly. As he named you, you are a suspect. Don't try to get a rise out of me Ms. Faulk, several others on the Council practically demanded I take this position for the time being, and well, with you as a suspect in one of the three most powerful organizations on this planet, and your... unique... affliction, well, there was no saying otherwise this time... The oddly quiet woman hissed, smirking before turning on her heel, assuming her permission, as if it really mattered.

River highly doubted this woman would listen to her if she said no anyway, but it was hard to read her although her distaste at the very least, was as plain as day.

River smirked a bit, folding her arms behind her head as she listened to the woman. "Looks like I got a rise out of you already, from where I'm sitting. Good to know the mages have taken this much interest though. Go ahead then, you're just asking as a formality anyways." She answered the retreating woman, shaking her head ruefully after she was gone.

"Those types always seem so uppity. Always the stick, never the honey. They're gonna find that box, I bet, hope you weren't using me for cloud storage or anything. How about that booze?"
