Just a bit of advice to people: The difficulty leap between normal and hard is large. I've passed Elenor easy with relatively little problem despite with some pretty bad build. With a better build, I am having problem at chapter 1 with mere city tasks. Stagger becomes a bit bigger deal as enemies deal more damage to you to stagger you which drops all of your attributes. Stagger also opens you to nasty stuff like pinning arrow (paralyze).

Speed rings/necklace is very useful for a while and SP regen is crucial especially to characters with high skills (which translate to high speed) as it allows them to constantly spam their abilities better (like headshot) and recharge faster when out of stamina.

If your are planning to have your MC be a healer, keep in mind that the amount of HP you heal correspond to the percentage of their max HP, not your will. This means, contrary to many other RPGs, you do not need a high will if you have sufficient SP regen, just need a good amount of speed.

Early on if you can find them, normal resist gears will make the wearer far more tanky. Two of them grants them normal damage IMMUNITY, meaning every physical damage will have 0 effect. In the some hilarious cases, this may allow one of your character to solo some battles.

PS: As this isn't exactly a hentai game, does this thread have another place to be moved to?

I have no clue what ure talking about... im playing on hard and buying whatever i see in shop that might be useful, making stupid builds on chars ( like zero thinking ) and i have no problem whatsoever killing anything so far. Im on 2nd or 3rd chapter. So far no problems with killing anything.... just buy few potions in case you cant heal with main char and thats it. my setup is two mages + archer in back row and on front loren , hero and that gladiator guy. Just take on your first mage blizzard on 2nd one that fire ( inferno ) or whats it called and ure gonna rape everything.

ps. if you actually read the first post you would know i said im not sure if this counts as hentai and that im posting this just in case some1 might actually like it.

Finished the game, made terrible choices for gear and skills throughout and had no trouble whatsoever on hard, never bothered to grind for exp or loot so I have no idea what you're doing wrong.

The only character I "optimized" (if you can call it that) was the hero which I just dumped mass speed on so she could both restore and do some damage (main party was Lorren, Sauzer, Chambera, Darry, Hero and whatever the blue elf was called) The massive damage output on Darry and Chambera (fire, phantasm and water on Darry. Air, death and earth on Chambera) made short work of just about anything, the only "trouble" I ran into was that the combat got incredibly boring and grindy (just the regular fights) and that my blue elf kept getting swarmed and killed (he was basically a diversion the entire time >_>)

To those considering a purchase, I'd stave off, personally I'm regretting my purchase as the story is bland and feels rushed, the characters are hit or miss (seriously, fuck Lorren, fuck the retarded amazon tribe and fuck your character's ridiculous devotion to servitude) The main driving point behind the plot is that everyone is fucking stupid and insists on their stupidity to the point of self destructive genocide. Great. Like I mentioned, there isn't much to the combat, playing the demo made me feel there was some depth to it but there really isn't. There is no flow, no need for combos which tend to cost more than they provide, there is no depth to the gear system (just buy the shiniest shinies you can afford and faceroll everything on hard) no need for potions at all in the entire game and lastly, your character has the personality of an utter lunatic, switching from moods an traits like she has a serious case of MPD which just leads to her being an utterly inconsistent an unlikeable character.

Keep in mind though, that this is my opinion on the matter and doesn't really have to coincide with yours, but if you dislike the things I mentioned then consider yourself warned.

Hmm I think more of my difficult, not that I think of it, is due to the fact that going on the elf path on my second run with a thief-MC leaves me with only Laren as the only front liner as the MC died too fast until I gave him physical immunity. Getting Ramas later on helped me a bit.

It's generally better to have only one front-liner anyway.

Most enemies will do a cleaving, full row attack or have attacks that hit a character and the one behind it, having only one front liner mitigates a ton of damage and the damage the extra bodies would do is pointless as mages melt anything.

If you give Loren some decent armor she can tank pretty much anything even without skills for it (she managed to survive up to chapter 3 without any upgrades whatsoever, just her starting gear and stats, on hard)

If you run into trouble just have Darry (Draco) cast the shield on your tank (this is also where having only one front-liner comes in handy, less buffs required) and you should be fine.

Well front line should always be tank equipped characters with decent amount of HP. I also dont see why would you deny yourself two more characters for fighting which can heal ,dmg and just help overall dmg migration. Its not like enemies do cleave every turn.

This is setup i use for every fight and its rape rape. I dont know if blizzard is bugged but its doing some insane dmg + slowing enemies which gives you more hits with chars.

Its not like enemies do cleave every turn.

Errr yea they do. They generally get off about 2 cleaves/strike throughs each before they die horribly, never see them do anything else except maybe full party aoe or the occasional boss using devour or something.

And as I mentioned, the extra damage is negligible, my mages destroy everything at a rate nothing can compare to, my thief-MC attacks 8x in a row to destroy anything sturdy enough to survive the magic and my Lorren tank takes almost no damage. I've never had to heal in the entire game (on hard) And never had to do more trouble than; Use rally -> pick best spells -> spam attack tougher enemies -> repeat.

The only time I ran into trouble was when I went to castle M'nar or w/e it's called at level 12 (seems you're supposed to be around 16 or higher) and even then it was only the soft mages that got killed.

The only romance option that showed any promise turned out to end with a single picture of Chambera sitting on top of feMC like a fucking horse, collar and girdle included....

Fuck this game.

Oh it's not that I'm dissapointed in that in particular, everything in this game feels half-assed and rushed, poorly executed and downright horribly designed. I had not spent much attention on the romances before as like I already read and knew that this wasn't a hentai game, but I went back for a look to see if this was where they had put their time and effort making this game into.

Sad to discover, it was not. A single picture, a poorly done and out-of-place scene that was more jarring than romantic.

Game was interesting at begin but once i started owning on hard it got boring.... im not sure even if im going to finish it guess im too good for this game..... there just hasnt been a good rpg lately.

btw links were deleted by some1 from winterwolves... they complained about links which i completely understand. But they have to understand that those ppl that downloaded from here would have never buyed it anyway. I mean im all in for supporting them but i want to see first if i like product or not. Some will say theres a demo but you dont get the whole picture by playing demo . I buyed Diablo III and was uterly disappointed and wanted to spit in their faces.

Hilariously, that's exactly how I feel about this game. The demo showed much promise and a very interesting concept, the final product was bad joke.

did you follow the instructions in the readme file...?

if you did follow instructions and still ended up with that exception... run Winter_Wolves_Howler.exe in administrator mode before running the game to try and unlock the full version...

btw... anyone else had some visual impairment during battles or in some of the in-game menus identical to whats in my pic attachment...? is there a way to fix it or something...?

It's a pretty short game and you should end up being lvl 15 when you fight Fost assuming you didn't spend significant amount of time training with Breza. Also, enemies' level will be relative to your highest character's level as well. However it isn't too difficult of a game, grind or not, with enough speed boost and normal damage resist.
