Re: Tentacle Souls

The loss of the necromancer is a serious blow, but given what we did with the female prisoner...Well, we definitely have to work on the addictiveness part of our tentacle loving.
That said, the female prisoner should be executed, then fed to the insects, the male prisoner should have his wounds tended to, then treated the way maxentius-septimus suggested.

Evolve: Healing Ooze II

Also, we should think whom of our other associates from the nexus could be brought in to fill the necromancer's role as trustworthy assistant, cold as it may sound.

Well hang on, what was that spell the necromancer used? Maybe she transferred part of herself to that bitch that just stabbed her?

Option 5, Find out wtf that spell did.

Indeed. Changing my vote to this. If no necro is found, we can still execute her and feed her to the insects.

Re: Tentacle Souls

Investigate spell, evolve Healing Ooze, option 4. OK.

----

You find yourself back in the same dungeon cell you visited 24 hours earlier. You don't recall how you got here; it's all become a bit of a blur.
Tied to the chair in front of you is the woman. The woman. She's slumped forward, asleep, golden hair spilling all over her. Her hands are stained brown with dried blood.
Some indeterminable length of time passes. You take the chance to make an evolution, and after the usual cell division and biological re-writing, you find that your body's natural slime has healing properties that can be turned on and off at will. Could come in useful. The boredom soon returns, however. You coil restlessly, but don't wake her. Eventually her eyelids stop twitching and she slowly returns to the world.

She leans back as far as her chains allow, her stiff back cracking audibly. She yawns, and a blast of stale breath washes over you.

"Good morning."

She spots you, coiled on the floor before her. A small smirk flicks her lips upwards.

"It's good to see you too," she jokes. "Missing your lady friend?"

You laugh, but it's cold and high. "Let me explain something," you begin. "I am the Tentacle Lord. I have existed for more years than you can conceive of, traveled to places and realms a thousand times worse than your vision of Hell, and know people and entities that could crush your entire species with the blink of an eye. So imagine, just for a second, what my reaction might be like if someone killed my best friend."

The smile drops abruptly from her face. "You are scum!" she hisses. "You are vile, diseased, a malignant tumor upon the face of creation. All the woman you've tormented over the centuries, all the people you've killed, the evil you've committed. And anything - anything - I can do to strike a blow against you is worth my life. Or whatever other hideous punishment you no doubt have in store for me. So go on. Get on with it."

You rise up from the floor, and strike her across the face with a tentacle. "She was my friend! She made me better than I was!"

"Oh, yeah, practically a saint judging by your 'interrogation' of me. Like I said, you are the lowest of the low, a worm twitching in the shit of the world. There can be no redemption for one like you."

"I know you find this hard to believe, but she helped keep me in check. With her gone... no more. I will subdue the world, everything will come under my power, everyone shall know the grief and misery that I have suffered." You lean forward and whisper: "And I want you to know it's all your fault."

Enough of this. You slide out of the room, feeling her glaring daggers into your back the whole way. Instead of feeling sick or angry or betrayed, all you have is a sense of cold, clinical fury. A desire for revenge. A desire to set an example.

Ascending up the dungeon steps, you issue your orders to Hu'jet. He gulps palpably, but complies, scurrying off to his task. You reach the main throne-room, curl up on your chair... and mourn.

At midday, the sun shining directly overhead, the woman is taken from the dungeon. She's carried still tied to her chair, escorted by five armed mercenaries (the remaining four having to stay and guard the town). She's carried in this way to the big courtyard at the front of the town, close to the massive entrance gate. The chair in which she sits is set down on the cobbled stone ground. She looks straight ahead, chin held high, still defiant.

As you watch, she is untied, and led forcibly over to the old wooden stocks. They used to be used to hold prisoners in place whilst they were pelted with rotten fruit and vegetables; you've found a better use for them now.
Silently, the woman in forced into the stocks, hands and head pressed into holes that ring her neck and arms as the upper half of the stock slams down. It's low enough that she's forced to bend forward almost ninety degrees, ass raised high in the air.

"Get on with it," you say to the escort of mercenaries, all of whom have been staring at the woman hungrily this entire time.

You watch as they approach, unzipping themselves, stepping out of their pants. Their leader runs his hands sensitively over the woman's butt, feeling the muscle, before sliding his hand right between her legs, drawing a tiny squeak.

Feeling faintly disgusted, you turn away and crawl back to your throne room even as scraps of her clothes start to fly through the air.

****

Midnight. Darkness outside the windows, your throne room lit with several flickering torches. You sit coiled on the throne itself, just thinking. Thinking and planning.

Hu'jet opens the doors and approaches.
"Sir, there have been developments."

It's an effort just to speak with someone so tiresome.
"What developments, Hu'jet?"
"The woman in the stocks... she's escaped, sir."

Silence for a moment. Then a deep, exhaustive sigh issues from your mind, so powerful Hu'jet is almost bowled over. You know you should be furious, but you just can't work up the energy for it anymore. What's the point without the Necromancer?

"How did she escape, Hu'jet?"
He gulps and rubs sweat from his brow before continuing: "It seems she had help, sir. After they... finished with the her, the mercenaries left, leaving only one of their number to stand guard over her. We found him not twenty minutes ago with a dagger in his heart, and the stocks burst open. There was a length of rope dangling over the perimeter wall of the town not two streets away, sir."

You mentally shrug. "Anything else?"

"Erm, yes, sir." Hu'jet looks even more nervous, if such a thing were possible.
The door behind him opens, and in walks another figure, flanked by two mercenaries.

It's not a human, that much is obvious. Just short of seven foot tall, with gigantic, leathery wings, it looks like the product of someone splicing together an ape and a bat. The beast is naked and hairless, with a gargantuan cock hanging down between his legs. The head, however, is the most alarming feature; a pointed snout like a wolf's, two large fangs jutting out, and big bat like ears on top of the head. But the eyes. Good lord, the eyes. They're huge, seem to take up half his face, and glow a uniform orange, like a lamp. No pupil.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, his mercenary escort are keeping their spears leveled at him.

He approaches your throne, and drops to one knee.

"Oh great Tentaclsssh one," it gargles. The words are barely understandable, and seem to have to be forced out of the throat and through the mouth. "I have come, yes I hashhh, with my group, to shherve... if you shhhall have usssssh." He looks up, tongue darting eagerly amongst his fangs.

----

Pick any combination that makes sense.

No, there was nothing of the Necromancer in the woman, that last spell was just to bring her down.

Option 1a) Accept the service of this new ungodly monster, and his fellows.
Option 1b) Politely decline the services of this new ungodly monster and his mates.

Option X) Take all the Mercenaries and servants in for questioning about the woman's escape. One of them may be in on it.

Option Y) Feed the newly dead mercenary to the insect hatchlings.

Option Z) Maybe having a nice statue of the Necromancer built will go some way to making you feel better.

Point to consider: If you accept the service of the bat-people, and the insects under the town continue to develop properly, you may soon be powerful enough to attack the town of Stormcrow. Is that something you'd be interested in?

I'll take all the above, although we should probably ask the remaining mercs if they have any objections to us using their dead as bug chow

By the way even if we try to attack Stormcrow we need to raise an army, those guys from Stormcrow won't help us attacking their home town.

Works for me.
I'd like to point out that our allies/friends/the paladin are still in the nexus and we haven't seen them in a while. Maybe we can drop in for a visit and invite them to our new stronghold?

Re: Tentacle Souls

1a, X, Y, Z, visit Nexus should be enough to be getting on with. Afraid this will be a short update, but I should be able to post more regularly now (famous last words!).

----

You consider the beast kneeling before you, thinking through his offer. It would be nice to have some more help around the town... but is there a catch?
You push such thoughts aside and draw yourself up on your throne.
"Your service would be most welcome."
"Exshhelent!" The bat-ape creature hisses, and raises a hand/paw. You slap a tentacle into it, sealing the deal.

The bat-ape throws back his head and - you're not even sure how to describe the noise, but it's absolutely deafening. Something between a howl and a snarl and a croak, all mixed into one. You see your human servants in the room pale visibly.

Satisfied, the creature turns to leave, but you issue your orders first. "Tell your men to scout the perimeter of the town and the surrounding area for any fleeing women. If you find any, they are to be brought to me alive."
He looks slightly perplexed at being given orders, but adjusts quickly.
"...Yesssh... We shhhall hunt!" he cries.
He turns and lollops out of the hall, leaving you slightly concerned he hasn't understood properly. Nevermind. With eyes like that they should be able to find the escaped woman in no time.

With that business sorted, you turn to Hu'jet.
"Hu'jet, I have another job I want you to delegate. In the main courtyard, at the front of the town, I want you to build a statue of the Necromancer. A statue so fine and might it will strike awe into all who gaze upon it."
Hu'jet looks relieved to have such a comparatively simple order. He claps his heels together and pronounces: "Yes, sir. I'll get some men working on it right away, sir."

He turns to leave, just as the man-ape did. Once more you call him back.

"And Hu'jet?"
He pauses, looking concerned.
"Have the killed mercenary fed to the insect hatchlings, will you? Then have the remaining sellswords rounded up and brought to the throne room as a group. I'll want to question them."

"Very good, sir."

Hu'jet leaves. You're left all alone in the throne room, and you decide to take advantage of this pause to return to the Dimensional Nexus. A bit of nostalgia never hurt anyone.

****

Some few minutes later you emerge from your Green Archcrystal. The Dimensional Nexus looks little different to how you remember it; the ground seems a little greener perhaps, the sky a little brighter, but otherwise not too different.

You take a look around. Over in the pool by the Blue Archcrystal is Martha, a mermaid you befriended some time ago. In one hand she holds the Subtle Knife, and is tossing it around playfully. Sitting next to her and smiling is Elene - an ordinary human woman you rescued from the Ice Dimension, though not before she'd suffered grievous harm. You see Martha say something and the pair burst out laughing at the shared joke.

Over by the Red Archcrystal, fanning herself with her leathery blue wings, is the Succubus. You met and rescued her in the Fire Dimension, though that was so long ago you may be a bit more distant now. As you look, you have to stifle a laugh - it seems she's glaring at the Paladin, who's sitting by the (sealed off) White Archcrystal. The Paladin is studiously sharpening her sword with a whetstone and trying very hard not to look over at her nemesis.

"Ah, look who's returned," calls the disembodied voice. You've always wondered where that comes from. The Paladin and Succubus both look over at you in surprise. "The prodigal son himself!"

----

Who do you want to come with you back to the Town? Who will be a valuable ally? Who would help you interrogate those mercenaries? You can pick more than one, but there's no guarantee any will agree to come.

1) Elene
2) Succubus
3) Paladin

Also, how should the interrogation be performed? Harshly? Gently?

2. Succubuddy. Also gently. Some deciet and subtlety is called for. Have succubuddy flirt and sex it out of them, possibly one at a time; promising them the most pleasure theyve ever experienced- and when we find theones responsible euther have succubuddy drain them compleyely or have them fed to the bugs.
