Re: Tentacle Souls

Bit of a delay there, sorry 'bout that. Anyway, Option 3B wins!

----
Thinking things through, you decide it might be a good idea to try and take things peacefully to begin with.

"It's good to see you too, old friend," you reply, broadcasting your thoughts up to the swaying blue tentacle.
"Old friend?" it titters, giggling like a child. "Well, yes, I suppose, old friend. Maybe."
"It's certainly a very nice lair you have here!" you call out, hoping that a little flattery might smooth things along.
"Why thank you," Blue simpers. "I've had a great deal of time to work on it, you see, and not a lot else to do." Out of the corner of your eye you see the blue tendrils tighten around the wrists and ankles of the people lying on the damp tunnel floor. Time to speed discussions up.
"I've been busy too," you murmer, trying to project a sense of power into your voice. "Since our mutual fall I've been working very hard on my magic."
The swaying blue tentacle before you stops dead, and you sense it gazing down intently upon you. You're not sure if that's a good or a bad thing.
"So I'll ask you nicely this once. Leave those people alone."

For a moment, there is silence in the tunnel. It's broken by the faint grown of the man as he tries to sit up, still wounded. The insect-woman's antennae twitch feebly.

"Well, if you want them... COME AND GET THEM!" roars Blue. Before you can react, the bindings on their wrists and ankles contract and tug down. In just a second they've vanished into the soil - gone, out of sight. You didn't feel the match-snuff sensation of their lives being extinguished, however, so they're alive... just taken. Though the situation isn't looking good, you take a second to admire that pretty smooth bit of magic from Blue.

Cackling to himself, Blue retracts into the ceiling, drawing out of your line of fire. Within seconds he's vanishing out of range too, but you hear his voice calling after you.
"Come onnnn, Purple, play the game. Come and find your friends. I wouldn't leave it too long... you should know my self-restraint has never been my most prominant feature!

And just for encouragement...
"

There's a faint magical pop behind you as Blue fades from you senses. You scurry rapidly back up the tunnel just in time to confirm your suspicions; the magical tripwire over the left-hand passage has been broken. The dead are clawing themselves out of the ground, groaning softly as they do. Men, women, children, all with loose flesh and cold, grey eyes. Ten, twenty... good God, there's about fifty of them. Their thick, cloying stench of decay washes over you and you twitch in disgust.

----

Option A) Retreat completely out of the tunnel and go back up to the jungle surface. Leave those unfortunate people to Blue's tender treatment.

Option B) Leave... but go and seek aid! Then come back here and rescue the two nameless people.
B1) Explore the rainforest looking for someone or something that can help.
B2) Go back to the Dimensional Nexus and try to secure the help of the Succubus.
B3) Go back to the Dimensional Nexus and try to secure the help of the Paladin.
B4) Go back to the Dimensional Nexus and try to secure the help of Elene.

Option C) Take on this battle yourself. Use Fire magic on the Undead and try to burn them all to a crisp. Then proceed down the left hand passage.

Option D) Retreat back further down the right hand tunnel, following the path of the fleeing Spidercrab. Leave the Undead alone and hope they don't follow you.

Option E) Use every scrap of subtlety at your disposal to go down the left tunnel without alerting the Undead to your presence.

Status:
Health: 80/80
Energy: 35/80
Morality: 8/100 (Saint-like)

Evolutions:
- Thunder Bolt I (Like Fire Bolt, Thunder element).
- Water Bolt I (...ditto).
- Ovipositor I (Allows you to lay eggs within the orifice of a host. At low levels, these eggs are weak and may not hatch properly. Further upgrades reduces this risk. Each egg costs 10 energy to plant, but the hatched tentacle is autonomous and commanded by you).
- Dread I (Releases pheromones that make organisms more afraid. The higher the level, the stronger the effect it has, and the better it works on people (lower levels are effective mostly against animals).
- Teleport I (allows you transport small, inanimate things back to the Dimensional Nexus, or wherever you set up a lair in the future. Further upgrades allow you to move bigger, and eventually alive things. NOTE: This spell will never be usable on yourself).
- Confusion I (Launch a magical blast that can disrupt the brain-waves of a foe. Useful against well-armored creatures that aren't very vulnerable to normal attacks).

- Firebolt II (Like Magic Sting II, but Fire Element).
- Scale Armor II (tougher scales, reduce damage taken).
- (Lust) Slime Ooze II (your slime induces lust in those that contact it).
- (Sleep) Slime Ooze II (you sleep makes those that touch it sleepy. Very... sleepy).
- Perception II (20 Energy. Use body language and other subtle, chemical clues to put together a general hint of what someone is feeling at any given time. Is that a molecule of sweat? They're nervous. Are their fingers tapping? Clearly impatient.)
- Aura Detect 2.55 (20 energy. Your sense of auras is refined, and you can see them from a great distance and judge their power levels more accurately. Also allows you to faintly detect Cursed auras).
- Stealth II (20 energy required. Become even sneakier).
- Swim II (20 energy required. Can you guess what this evolution does?)
- Body Shock II (20 Energy required. A powerful wave of magical energy runs over your skin. Akin to picking up a live electrical wire. Obviously limited to close-range combat, though).
- Tentacle Arts II (20 Energy required. Recover HP through sex).

- Growth III (30 energy required. Grow to a chunky, 6-foot long python, complete with split heads.)
- Magic Shield III (30 energy cost. Lasts longer and tougher to break than Level II).
- Magic Sting III (30 Energy required. Costs 5 energy to use, but a direct hit will send most foes flying off their feet).

E. We don't have time to take on a Zombie horde, we need to rescue those people.

Re: Tentacle Souls

B3 apparently Blue is known for having tons of ferocious creatures in their lair. Sounds like we will need the backup.

Also, anyone else think we should take another evolution? Perhaps stealth, scale armor 2, aura detect 2.55, or magic shield 3?

Re: Tentacle Souls

D. Odds are that spidercrab is retreating right back to blue's lair, and that's our only lead about its location. I doubt blue will be patient enough to just kinda wait for us to return; we might come back to rescue those two only to get back in time to retrieve their corpses.

Failing that, at least try and convince blue that we'll be back soon.

Re: Tentacle Souls

D no need to bring anyone in here because blue would only have more people to take away if we do, also it is not a very good idea to fight a zombie horde alone. and ofcoure as a saint-like tentacle we won't run away.

^ This.

Only, I rather do hope the undead give chase. Leading a horde of decaying zombies back to the Game Loving Blue Tentacle Bastard (who is in fact the son of a sea anemone) sounds like solid retribution.

May he become crippled in the fight to come and live in these caves for the rest his miserable life while never touching the flesh of another woman, living or not.

Also, wouldn't a blue tent have pretty good self restraint on account of being a conniving bastard? Or at least I'm under the impression that planners aren't the type to move with out thinking. Seems a bit of out of character... Maybe this really is some kind of demented game that he thinks will be a barrel of laughs once it's over.

Ohh, have no worries, Blue knows what he's doing and what sort of impression he's trying to give.

Re: Tentacle Souls

I just saw a train wreck. *Face palm*

Right, so i'd like to join in and vote.

I pick b3. To be frank, the more of a self righteous prick she is, the more i want her to come. She should be easy to manipulate the more she acts out.

That being said, the more we're around her, the more chances we have to swim in those breast of her. Getting the amulet wouldn't be a bad idea either. Again going about that prick thing, just think how sweaty she will be with that hot humid weather. she'll be forced to slowly, slowly strip and being miserable all the time.

I totally want her here, to suffer! Besides, the more we're around her, the more chances we have to fuck her.

Re: Tentacle Souls

Shadow, can you give us a rough estimate as to how much time it would take to do B3? An hour, a few hours, or a day?

Sorry, too late was the cry. ;)

Option B3 and D were tied with four votes each. I read everyone's arguments and decided to go with the one that was most persuasive - so Option D wins!

In the future, would people prefer one person's vote to decide the motion in the event of a tie? Or would that cause strife? Give me your ideas, people.
Anyway:

----

Time is of the essence; ignoring the mumbling, shambling undead now occupying the left-most tunnel, you slide rapidly back down the right. Hurridly you slither through the soiled incline, soon reaching once more the levelled off region where you fought the Spidercrab. Thinking back, you saw it retreating from your group's efforts - and where would it retreat to but back to Blue's stronghold?

OK, so you've got a lead. Pressing on through the gloom, you're stuck relying on non-sight based senses, which wouldn't be too bad were it not for the fact the stench of decay was so ripe and overbearing down in the tunnels. You're fortunate that this tunnel doesn't seem to branch off anywhere, so there's only one direction the Spidercrab could have gone in -

Oh. Wonderful. You've reached the end of the tunnel, and found that it does in fact split - in multiple different directions. You sense one shaft dropping straight down in front of you, one goes straight up in the ceiling, two more go 90 degrees to the left and right, and one goes straight ahead (assuming you jump over the vertical hole in the floor).

Blimey, you knew Blue Tentacles are well known for building elaborate lairs, but this is ridiculous!

Your pondering about which path to take is abruptly stopped; a low moan from behind you alerts you to the fact the zombies have followed you after all! And this day was going so well up until now. However, further thought tells you that this may provide an opportunity.

With the few around you (maybe they weren't following you as much as spreading out randomly) you bring your plan into action. Scooting rapidly around the foremost one, you use a Magic Sting II to send it plummeting into the downward shaft. There's a brief whistling sound as it falls, a splash as it lands - and then a wet gulp sound.
OK, not going that way then.

The second one you are more careful with; you wait until it's almost on the precipice, and use your Magic Sting II again to punt it across the hole into the horizontal tunnel that's level with this one. After landing, it picks itself up off the floor, takes a step forward - and disappears screaming inside a searing ball of arcane fire.

A third shambling undead - a fat, old man - you persuade to take the left tunnel by means of a barrage of Magic Sting I's. He makes it a few meters - and doesn't immediately die a horrible second death.
Pleased by this experiment's result, you take the left hand passage (but not before using a Firebolt I to burn the fat zombie to ash).

Shuffling along the tunnel, you soon find something interesting; the Spidercrab. It's hunched over on the floor, poking its belly wounds with its claws. One eye flicks up and glares hatefully at you.
In front of the Spidercrab stands a woman - well, a woman of sorts. The ring of human bones around her neck, flowing purple robes, the magical staff she carries in one hand and the pulsating aura of dark energy surrounding her somewhat give away the fact she's a Necromancer.

"Oh, the Purple Tentacle. Wondered where you'd got to." She gives you an appraising look, but her voice and demeanour suggest deep boredom.

"Are you ready to meet your fate?"

----

Option 1) Submit; maybe by 'meet your fate' she's actually going to do something beneficial to you? Necromancers can be very tricksy.

Option 2) Fight, immediately, using the most powerful magic at your disposal.

Option 3) Try and strike a deal; she looks bored with her job, so offer her some of your magical knowledge if she lets you by.
