As she threw her clothes back on, a process that didn't take long given her relatively sparse amount of clothing, the sounds outside of the elf's room went quiet. When she stepped outside, Kiah was greeted by the sight of two members of the group (of three) that she'd seen down in the tavern standing outside of one of the other rooms. They still wore their cloaks, and it was the two whom Kiah hadn't been able to ascertain the sex of that were standing beside the door, which looked to have been forced open. One figure was looking down the hall, in the opposite direction from which Kiah was viewing the situation, and the other was looking into the room with their back to her.

"Bitch tried to shiv me," a low, deep voice grunted from beyond the door, and the sound of a muffled female voice and struggling could be heard as the massive male figure came striding out, carrying the cloaked woman from the bar. Her hood had been lowered, revealing a thin, angular face and wide dark eyes, but the rest of her was still covered by it. "You had it handled Argus. Her kind are rarely much trouble if you can catch them by surprise," said the figure that had been looking into the door, but then the man named Argus snapped his attention onto Kiah. The other speaker noticed this and spun towards her, and even with his hood up Kiah could see a soft white glow emanating from his eyes, which were focused on the blade in her hand. "I don't believe that this concerns you, stranger," he said amicably, a smile appearing on his face. "Walk away," he added, speaking then in a tone that was absolutely commanding.

I mean look at your eyes, you don't seem entirely clean of magic either," Kiah said with a playful smirk letting the tip of her blade dance along the floor, making small nicks in the wood as she slowly inched forward, every muscle in her form tensing, reading herself for battle.

The man's expression faltered slightly at the mention of his eyes, but he maintained his friendly tone as he replied; "Because murder, while an abhorrent crime, is far less a sin compared to the use of dark sorcery to commit the deed. That is why we civilized folk control the practice of magic, and put those who are loyal and able to use, seeking out those who would abuse such powers."

Kiah's smirk and her slow advance had two of the cloaked figures on edge, and the massive man holding the limp captive began edging away from the door. The glow from the other man's eyes began to intensify slowly, and his stance shifted slowly at a rate equal to that of Kiah's advance. They were maybe fifteen feet away from Kiah, easily within striking distance. "You are not of the Empire, and have not yet committed any sin before my eyes that would warrant your punishment. We are taking this criminal back to face justice for the death of a nobleman, administered by his kin. Walk away, and this will be the end of your involvement. Raise your blade against us, and you will die here in the defense of a killer," the man said, speaking very quickly and very quietly. The third member of their party was still staring down the hallway, apparently oblivious to Kiah's presence, but then one of the other doors along the hallway opened slowly, and the third member immediately spoke up in a complete monotone; "Someone is coming."

The big man half turned in that direction, and out into the hall stepped the sandy-haired man that Kiah had seen down in the bar. He was shirtless and fairly muscular, though not the most impressive that Kiah had ever seen, and looked to have just climbed out of bed given his lack of any clothing save for his trousers. The man with the glowing eyes glanced back once at his comrades announcement, and with their attention divided now was a perfect opportunity for Kiah to start up the violence if she so desired. The man was turned towards them, his arms held behind his back as he frowned down the hallway at the lot of them.

Everything felt wrong about this situation, and Kiah debated quickly whether or not she should get involved. As it was, she didn't need to be hunted by the Empire, but if she killed these men quickly and quietly, no one would know who did it. Or so she hoped.

But why would men upholding justice skulk around in shadows, why not approach the guards of the town?

Taking a quick breath she lunged forward, aiming for the man with glowing eyes, her blade slicing through the air.

The cloaked man with the glowing eyes was distracted more than long enough for Kiah to initiate her attack, and Kiah's sword was slicing through flesh all too soon. The man yelped and recoiled away at the last second, preventing the blow from being lethal, but her blade came away from him wet and dripping with red, and the man she'd struck was dropped to the floor. "Take this bitch!" the larger man roared, as he thrust the limp woman towards the cloaked man who was watching the blond man at the end of the hall. The cloaked man and the unconscious woman went down in a tangled heap as the blond man started toward them, but Kiah had a much larger problem to deal with.

The hulking figure suddenly shot forward, a fist coming in at Kiah's face that she just barely managed to duck. He was quick for his size, and pulled back before she could take a slice out of his hand and dropped into a defensive stance, his arms held apart in front of him while he rested on the balls of his feet. The cloak over his face prevented her from seeing where his eyes were, and the unfamiliar fighting style left him difficult to read, but there was nothing to it not but to have it out.

The big man recoiled back from Kiah as her wings suddenly spread out behind her, fear stealing over what was visible of his face beneath his hood, and Kiah's jab capitalized on that opening. Her blade sunk into the meat just above his groin, and he jumped back and yelped rather quickly from that, very narrowly avoiding being gutted or neutered by the half-demon's blade. The man steps in suddenly as she pulls her blade back for another strike, sending another swing at Kiah's face that never even comes close to touching her but forces her to step back. The man returns to his readied stance, but the man on the floor whom Kiah had struck down mere moments ago raised a bloodied hand toward her and shouted; "Demon!"

A ray of white light suddenly lances out from his hand, and only Kiah's expert reflexes keep whatever spell the man had cast from hitting her right in the chest. Diving aside, Kiah hears wood splinter behind her as the spell impacted, and her wings and back are showered in splinters. When she turns her gaze to the issuer of that attack, however, Kiah finds that the blond man from the other side of the hall had crossed the distance and entered the fray, stepping over the flailing man and the now awakened woman that they'd been trying to capture and seizing the hand of the man on the floor. The magus let out a cry of pain as his arm was wrenched upwards, but then the blond man slams a fist into the prone man's face, causing him to shiver and go still. The cloaked thug saw none of this, his attention focused solely on Kiah, but there were rumblings from some of the other rooms now.

"Well... that was unexpected," Kiah muttered to herself as she noticed the blonde man punch the magus in the face. That was something she'd worry about in a moment though, for now she still had to deal with this hooded bastard.

Folding her wings tight against her back once more, she moved forward, feinting towards the man's thighs and shins, before slashing upwards towards his neck and shoulder.
