“Rythe... it's not just... actually nevermind.”
Kurui had started to say what Black had told her a few days earlier, about a good chunk of the Academy's “talent” being Redclaw, but she stopped herself. For all Kurui knew, that could have just been a bluff to scare to her... and since it worked it on her, it might be better not to test it's effect on Rythe.
“It's safer this way, she won't go digging on her own if she doesn't know. If there really is more to the Academy than Black involved in this, there's no way we can do anything against all of them. All we can do and deal with Black and hope everything ends there... that the others, if they exist, don't know we were involved with anything or just decide to leave us be and leave Black to his failure...”
“...Thanks, I didn't expect anything different from you. If something did happen to me, you still have to look after yourself and Sienna, after all. It's nice to know... that if something does happen to me... at least someone else will know about it.”
Kurui tried to force a smile, but just like earlier it wouldn't serve to take any of the edge off of what she was saying. Instead all she could do was turn away and focus on her preparations and the task at hand instead. She let Rythe go on her way and instead focused on recording silence on her enchanted pen, carefully listening for even the slightest noise that might pick up, luckily this early in the morning there were none.
In the downtime she couldn't help but think about how little Rythe truly knew about all of this, at least in terms of experience, and was hit with more pangs of guilt over getting her involved... but there would be no time to change her mind, as 15 minutes flew by in the blink of an eye and the lightning major once again returned. It was now time to put their plan into motion. With a sigh, Kurui headed on her way to class, Rythe following behind recording. Right before she entered Black's room, she retrieved her pen from her bag of books and papers and twisted it on in plain view before stuffing it away again and crossing the threshold of no return...

~~~~~
Kurui made her way into the classroom without a word, waiting for Black to break the silence. She had grown used to him treating her with what was almost disregard and starting things on his own terms. Although disregard might have been the wrong term, as she could feel his stare upon her on the whole time, as unnerving as ever, although she had since grown somewhat used to that too. The only thing making it different this time was that she didn't have a guage of how he would react to various things, from her refusal to accept his invitation last night, to the report he probably got from the monitor this morning.
To Kurui's surprise, Black seemed rather indifferent to both matters. She had been expecting anger and more flashes of his fearsome side, but instead he seemed indifferent, even a little pleased to hear she had been practicing last night. This was OK though, it let her loosen up a bit, speak more casually. She would find her seat, set her things down, and wait for Black to get things moving.
“Luck had nothing to do with my run-in last night. I can be grateful of your lessons for that much at least.” It was a weird admission to make, but nothing that would prove she had done anything to anyone else listening, who could interpret it as something as simple as dodging. “I do need to stay alive if I'm going to learn more though. My last few meetings with you ended with everything from threats to get sent back to the mine with the others, to being chained up to your wall, to getting shocked half to death... forgive me for not feeling up to taking my chances. I wasn't too eager to see how you'd react today either if I didn't spend some time practicing up on your last lesson... this mellow mood is a surprise to me. But since you are... about today's lesson... I'm ready, however...”
Kurui took a deep breath and let out a sigh. What she was about to ask could be dangerous, not even counting her recording him, it was something he might react badly too. At least in her defense though, it wouldn't seem TOO suspicious, since it's something she'd have to learn some day anyway.
“About today's lesson... I think there's something besides enchanting I think I need to learn about first.” her voice was timid, but genuinely curious, like when she had been in a daze back in the mines. “I've seen a lot of ugly things these last few days... and realized I've been so so stupid about the world around me. Even here at the Academy, those delinquents last night would have treated me like a piece of meat if they had been luckier... and taught me nothing in return. But... the thing is... I know you told me your people were better... the Redclaw Syndicate.” she dropped her voice at these few words, enough to show some kind of reverence, although her recording pen in her bag could probably still pick it up. “I've been trying to wrap my head around it. Even though you're teaching ME things to protect myself and accomplish great things... the others in the mine... Dinn and Reius and Anisse... they're still going to die as soon as the work there is done, aren't they? I was a hair's width away from ending up like that myself. Also... the other Redclaws there, the ones posing as our escorts, there was nothing noble about them either. I know you've told me that yourself... but I guess what I wan't you to teach me today... teach me what good this Syndicate has done. Teach me some of it's history, what it's goal is, what you've personally done... if only so I can feel like I didn't trade one terrible fate for another. I was scared when you made me the offer to join, but I've been acting as if you were serious it... so I think these are things I'm eventually going to need to know one day anyway. I didn't cut and run when I got free at the mine, or when you brought me back... I didn't run off and tell the Royal Constables even before I knew some of them were in your pocket... so I think I've earned the chance to at least make this request, sir.”
Kurui would finish her request by looking Black straight in the eyes again, as she had done a few times before to show her determination, but the tone in her voice still showed a certain deference... a certain submissiveness. Whether it was because Black had actually earned her fear or respect... or just because she wanted something from him, it was a detail she was sure he wouldn't miss. After all, for the first time since the trip, she had actually used a honorific in her speech towards him. While it was true she had her own motivations for asking such a thing, there was more to it than just wanting to incriminate him, and perhaps that saving grace was the only reason she was able to avoid thinking too much about the first part and not let any signs of fear or nervousness over it slip into her voice. Curiosity maybe? A morbid one if that... Or perhaps part of her was leaving itself open to one last chance to be convinced of something she didn't see before. Or maybe it was something else entirely. Either way, it felt like it was working to her benefit for the moment...
"Grateful...?" Black raised a brow, although his lips began to curl into a smile, for once. "Now, that's something I didn't expect to hear from you on the second day of private lessons. And yet, there's still so much for you to learn." He raised a brow when the dark-haired girl began to describe the trials he had put her through, from the threats he had made to the more physical measures he had taken. The man's features took on a skeptical look.
"Oh, no need to be so dramatic. You must understand, I never pursued such studies in my youth with the goal of being a teacher in mind. My true passions lie elsewhere, and so I have little patience for disobedience amongst my students, especially any who might be... fortunate enough to be taken under my wing. I realize this might be rough on you, who may be more used to the coddling of someone properly trained to educate fledgling mages. But if you are to excel, hardship is occasionally justified. Even necessary, one might argue. However, as you come around, I doubt the need for such things will arise again soon." He still kept from being specific--to someone who was being rather paranoid, it almost felt as if he knew, somehow, despite the lack of immediate evidence in support of this notion.
He gave her a knowing smirk, slowly rising to his feet and moving from his chair, following up with a motion that invited her to come sit at his desk. When Kurui responded with a most interesting question before the start of the lesson, he blinked once and exhibited another slight change upon his expression, looking just a tad surprised at the inquiry, but did take care to listen to her entire rant before making his response. "What's this, all of a sudden? Hmm... then again, you always have been one to ask questions. Very well. The others, as I have said before, may or may not survive back there, based on their usefulness. While some of their drivers are crude and idiotic, they have been left with very specific instructions, and I will return at some point to see it followed through. Don't misunderstand, though... the relationship between the Syndicate and I is not like that of a slave and master. I benefit it, so long as it benefits me. After all, even all of the genius in the world won't see to one's goals being achieved. I'd still need to do the legwork, and I still require help from others, whether I care to admit it or not. And that's where they come in."
"Needless to say, as with nearly any organization, there are some low-life scum amongst its ranks, some of whom you might have met first hand. In fact, there's an entire division of them, whom I personally feel the world would be better off without, but there you have it. While the overreaching goal of the Redclaw Syndicate is to expand its influence over the entire Kingdom, so as to even overtake the authority of the Royal Family itself, there are various reasons for that, and several entities that have a say in how this is done. The leaders within the Syndicate have their own reasons, as well. But needless to say, our Kingdom is not in a good way, and in times like these, everybody needs a scapegoat. While the King claims that it is the work of the Redclaws, they, on the other hand, put the blame on him. To put it solely on any one factor is foolish, in my opinion. The masses are the definition of foolish, however, and whoever controls them, sadly enough, will have an undeniable advantage. I'd like to think that my own personal goals are not so naive. All I wish is to increase the efficiency of the state by rooting out the people who don't deserve to be in the positions they are in, starting with the Academy, and go from there while continuing my own work with inventing. I've told you about this before--the bar just needs to be raised a little higher, and I don't feel it would hurt to actually reject those who fail to perform. Perhaps one day, I will be able to call my fellow mages true 'peers' with the utmost confidence that they have earned such stations."
"As far as what I have done for the Syndicate, up until now it had mostly been supplying them with some of my inventions for use in their dungeon. Some were interested in my insulated wiring, to send magical energy from one place to the other, others took note of my drafts for flying machines, and such... the usual. But really, I see it as no different from selling to the Royal Family themselves, such as I have in the past. Bogging myself down in the politics of who I should and shouldn't sell to is not only considerably less profitable--I find it ignorant. After all, at this point, it would be far too difficult to attempt to figure out whose allegiances lie where. Truly, too much trouble for what it's worth, and counterproductive to my own research in the long run."
He shrugged. "I don't necessarily feel it to be a moral shortcoming on my end. Yes, I've some... unique bedroom habits, but so do many otherwise 'honest' nobles. After all, those who do contribute great things to society deserve a little comfort, don't they? Better than can be said for the low-lives who don't, and yet attempt to gain such things anyway."
The dark-haired professor stroked Kurui's cheek, narrowing his eyes ever so slightly as he gauged her reactions to his touch. "Do you find me that repulsive? You can't say it didn't at least feel a little good..."
"And yes. I do appreciate that you have stayed this long, the way you have, as I'm sure these lessons are nothing like what you are used to, nor are my, ah... disciplinary methods. If you were as eager to learn as you claimed, however, you'd know that this is only one step in the overall goal. After all, we've only scratched the surface." Directing her to sit down, he then placed a hand on her shoulder and soon worked to slip his fingers underneath the strap of her bookbag, sliding it off of her slowly. "Now let's get this off of you, shall we...?" he murmured suggestively.
Re: Elynsor's Royal Magic Academy (Kat) GMed by Takimaru
Although Black was receptive to Kurui's expression of gratitude, and wouldn't make any verbal denials of anything she actually accused him of, for the first few moments he would say nothing incriminating either.
“It's to be expected. Maybe he suspects me of something... but there's no reason to open up about such risky topics even if he doesn't. If he did he would be denying things more strongly... or already shocking me in anger....”
While Black showed no anger, Kurui felt a flash of her own at being called “dramatic” but it didn't move her to any kind of action, instead keeping quiet and listening to Black's answer. To be fair, it was a reasonable one, although she still hated the sound of it. Soothing promises that it wouldn't be as “necssary” in the future followed, but Kurui had no intention of letting the future go on like this any longer than necessary.
When Kurui hit Black with her big question of the day, she would have considerably more luck making him open up than her first few words had. She would accept his motioned invite to come up to the desk, both out of an apparent curiosity... but also because a recording would pick up better this close. There would be no denial or dancing around the issue at all this time. It was almost unsettling how quickly Black changed gears now, as if he knew something or figured something out since before... but Kurui could see no other signs of as much.
“No... he's answering now because I'm trying to learn. This is even exactly what I was counting on earlier. There's no need to freak out now that it's working.”
Kurui didn't have to feign any interest in Black's answer, as it was plenty interesting on it's own. She wondered if everything Black was saying about his relationship to the Syndicate, the way they and the Kingdom blamed eachother, and Blacks own end goals were true. Parts of it sounded like he had almost deluded himself... then again Kurui wondered what made her qualified to think that, after all, until just a few days ago she had thought of the Redclaw Syndicate as little more than really exaggerated stories. How she could feel Black was playing with something dangerous without realizing it was a mystery to her when she knew almost nothing about them... yet here was Black talking about them with familiarity.
“I think I caught something about a dungeon in there. He has solid facts while I'm running off story... if they really have something like that they're far more than just story. Fucking creepy. Who knows where they would have something like that and not be noticed... but finding that out isn't my job, no, I'm here for me and Sienna and the rest of those back in the mine, the Kingdom can handle stuff like that.”
Noticeable unease would radiate off Kurui as Black went on. The unease wasn't because she was nervous over getting caught, but more from her trying to wrap her head around what she was hearing. She didn't have any reason to doubt what he was saying... and that was the disturbing part, like being told someone was over with you with a knife every night you've ever slept and you had just found out. Not all the surprises would be this bad though, a few later on made her radiate actual wonderment again.
“...flying machine? Is that... even possible? Others have tried... even strapped enchanted stuff all over them, but they never make it more than a few feet without crashing or falling apart, even with a ton of wind mages trying to help they never do more than barely glide...-”
She would quickly quiet herself though when she realized she had already started rambling. It was fascinating, as all of Black's inventions she knew about were, there had already been amazing ones like light spheres that ran on lightning magic (although the cost of making them kept them from being widely used, even at the Academy), but this wasn't the time for gushing over inventions and stuff. “Stay quiet, let Black finish. I've already got everything I need, but no need to make him angry now and risk all that.”
Kurui was unsure of her quieting herself came off as suspicious at all or perhaps just an eagerness to look respectful, but Black would wrap things up quickly after that. His answer had been satisfactory to Kurui's question anyway, at least for today. There were details left unsaid of course, but lessons for another day perhaps. For today, this one was over, judging by Black's change in tone. In his typical fashion though, Black would wrap things up by making them creepy again, and Kurui would tense up at his touch, a reaction she still hadn't managed to kill off.
“I... find it creepy you're into someone my age. You're not repulsive... no... but this whole thing is, especially when I don't even get a say in it.”
Kurui was challenging him, it would have looked suspicious if she didn't, but she would have done it anyway even if she wern't worried about getting caught right now to prove some sort of resolve or seriousness. Her voice however, was shaky this time. It was harder to muster up fire after having been in a more respecting frame of mind earlier. She missed his more agreeable mood from earlier, as this one was hard to fight today. In fact she would make no moves to stop the removal of her bookbag as he slipped it off, even cooperating with the movement despite her verbal disagreement. She had everything she needed recorded and it was safer to not have the pen on her where a shock could burn it out if he gave her one... but there was more to it than that... something more... surrendering. This was a threat to her plan, he might have taken her bag because he knew what was in it, but for the moment she was more afraid of his more... carnal impulses and found them the more likely answer.
“I'm.... repulsed with myself for letting all of this happen, you know. Whatever you think you deserve... it's still hurts to have been the one to have been chosen to have it taken from... and there wasn't and still isn't much I can do to stop it.”
It was a painfully honest admission, but as with Teague earlier, she felt a need to explain herself. She wasn't sure if Black would even understand, but him asking the question got her in a emotional state all over again like the sight of herself last night had. She almost felt like crying but held it back for now, this in and of itself might end badly enough for her without breaking down into tears.
“I... still don't think this is teaching me anything... I somehow doubt this is how YOU ever learned. Maybe... maybe I'll eventually get used to it... but for right now it hurts bad. You're... lucky I'm not repulsed with you or else the feeling might crush me... but I don't enjoy this either!”
Kurui tried to stare back with this final bit of defiance, but whatever fire she had in her eyes burnt out a moment later and she turned her face away.
“Nothing I say is going to stop you... just... get it over with so you can teach me something useful for today...”
Re: Elynsor's Royal Magic Academy (Kat) GMed by Takimaru
Black let out a short laugh, or at least the very beginning of one, at the student's response to his mention of the flying machine. "Hah... well, yes, of course, it is -possible-. It's not quite the proper mindset of an inventor to really question that, but the issue lies in the 'how', and the 'why'. The 'why' is easy--warfare. I really shouldn't have to explain much more than that. As for the 'how'... there have been quite a few embarrassing failures made by other developers, but as foolish as these might seem, they are a necessary step in the larger picture, as they have worked out for the better in helping me to revise my own designs, based on their shortcomings. Much of it has to do with determining the right amount of power to be used, and the way that the vehicle's structure interacts with the air; design in this aspect is key. If I must be completely honest with you, there is a functional one I have recently developed, but it's far too primitive to be used for anything other than the sheer novelty of carrying two people a set distance. At any rate, I digress... I can show you what I do have built, but that would require you to visit my home," he said, ending his verbal explanation with a somewhat dark grin. He looked as if he would have added to that, but omitted such choices in favor of addressing the topic of the age difference between them.
"Oh? And yet marriages between people of your age, and of mine, are relatively common here. Provided, not between teacher and student... so I understand that much. You must realize, however, that I am a very ambitious man. I'm not content to wait for many things, and when I do, it usually isn't for longer than planned. I am used to progress at my own pace, for things to happen at my will. You might even call it an obsession with control, perhaps. I've actually been far more lenient with you than I might have otherwise, believe it or not..." The professor slid both of his hands from the nape of her neck to her shoulders, then made his way to the clasp at the front of her mantle, doing away with it and sliding it off to expose her upper back. "What would you have me do, spend all of the time, money, and painstaking effort to make you like me... or even love me? Heh... no, I care not for such trivial arrangements. Here, I am to teach you, and you are to learn. But of course, I find teaching in itself to be a rather thankless job. Those without the inherent passion for it may find themselves miserable, as I have. Thus, I feel as if this is the least you can do to repay me for turning you into something more... much more than you would ever be otherwise. While I may not have learned this way myself, it ought to make -you- stronger, to make up for your inherent weakness as a woman. Really, if one were to inventory every contribution I have made, the entire Kingdom, as well as the Syndicate itself, owes me far more than what I currently possess, but that will be fixed in time." If he wasn't being incriminating before, he certainly was with the most recent line, something that the pen likely picked up even after it was lowered to the floor along with the bag it was kept in.
"It's natural to be upset with yourself for failures, yes. Make sure you use it well, though, let it make you better than you were before. Ensure that the same thing doesn't happen again..." he went on, planting a few kisses along the side of her neck while gradually shifting his manual attentions downward to her chest. Settling there, he began to gently knead at her womanly assets, running his fingertips over her nipples even over the cloth of her uniform and undergarments as he did so. Still, despite the invasive and sexual nature of his movements, he maintained a most casual tone while continuing his speech. "Of course, perhaps it was just your poor fortune to be stuck with someone you couldn't possibly hope to have a chance against. But I would personally consider this a blessing in disguise, as one day you might be able to... that is, after you've learned enough and paid your proper dues." With that, he tugged the dark-haired girl's blue top down in short order, doing away with her bra as well by freeing the clasp with a single hand, one that was soon employed to reach between her inner thighs and dab testingly at her crotch. The other hand went right back to work, massaging her exposed breasts with a relatively even amount of attention to each, and his lips sought hers feverishly in the interim. She could turn away if she so chose, which would cause the lecturer to get a bit more vigorous in his treatment of her, almost angrily so, but not quite roughly... yet, anyway.
Despite his skilled ministrations, the air around Black was still strangely tense, unnerving as it was--as if he wasn't intimidating already in his own right. Still, he was quite thorough in his attentions, taking his time over the course of several minutes in making sure that her nipples were erect and that her natural wetness had soaked through her panties before moving on. Had she allowed him to kiss her, he would finally break it at that point, leaving Kurui's lips glistening with a mix of their saliva, and then turn the chair she was sitting on to face him. The professor then crouched down, having his pupil scoot forward so that she was sitting on the edge, and ordered her to lean back, clutching her panties at both sides and sliding them off of her legs to reveal her glistening flower.
Of course, he still wasn't beneath his usual taunts and attempts at humiliation, even in a situation like this. "Just look at how wet you are now. You don't have to stay quiet, you know. It's still early enough in the morning... heh." Placing his hands on her knees and parting her legs, he craned his neck downward while maintaining eye contact, taking a broad, prolonged lick up and down the full length of her crevice. Pausing for a moment to sample her taste, he wasn't to be satisfied with just that. The man proceeded to lap away at her nethers, getting his tongue inside her as deep as possible at the end of each stroke and wiggling it around while inside in a teasing flourish.
It wasn't too long before he centered his attentions on her clit, tickling it with the very tip of his tongue, then taking harder licks while slipping a digit between the Water Major's lower lips and moving it back and forth to ensure that her inner passageway, as well as the area around it, was thoroughly lined with her own secretions. Black made it a point to take his time with the foreplay, seeking to eke out any possible reaction from the girl--the louder she was, the more his grin would widen as he persisted in his oral ministrations. Eventually, the lecherous noble's tongue and hand would switch places, with him returning to slurping away at her cunny as he employed his index and middle fingers to rub away vigorously at her ever sensitive clit.
"Don't hold back on me, now," he muttered between licks, and it was at that point that Kurui would realize something. Black wasn't going to stop until she came. His motions were more consistent than ever, like that of a machine, constantly stimulating her most sensitive spots with nearly unnerving determination. Should she try to struggle or sit up, he would use his free hand to roughly push her back down into the chair before resuming his oral services against her will, practically insisting that she reach nothing less than a mind-numbing orgasm as a result of his skilled foreplay.
After she did give in, or at least exhibited convincing signs of such, he'd help her back up to her feet, at least momentarily, while he took her place in the chair, then undid the front of his trousers, pulling them down just enough to reveal his already erect manhood. Kurui wouldn't have to stand for long, as the professor clutched her by the waist with one hand, taking one of her wrists the the other, and had her face him directly, pulling her towards him and having the student straddle him, so as to take her from there. He would stop before penetration, however, letting go of her arm to grasp the base of his cock and shift it about, sliding its rounded tip back and forth along the girl's moistened entrance to elicit additional noises from her. The black-haired noble watched his pupil's face intently, savoring any reactions she might show him. If Kurui was keen on denying him additional pleasure, she would probably do her best to stifle her body's natural reactions, given how much every single gasp and squeak she let out caused him to look even more smug and pleased with himself. Either way, though, it likely didn't matter in the larger picture, as it wasn't long before he let the novelty pass. Wrapping his arms around her waist, he lowered her onto his stiff rod gradually, groaning deeply as he invited himself to the blissful warmth of her interior. "Ohhhhh, yes... you belong to me!"
Black hilted himself in firmly, allowing Kurui's inner walls to accommodate him fully before moving on to the next step. Even with the relative lack of bondage or physical cruelty, his emotionally sadistic tendencies didn't wane here, as he was keen to observe her reddened visage--the fact that he had also chosen a position where they were face to face was likely no coincidence, either. Cupping her shapely rump with both hands, he began to stir her about in a circular motion, letting the girl feel his member grinding up against her inner walls for one last attempt at a reaction. Then, he began the act itself, moving her up and down on him, forging himself into her while releasing steady sighs.
"Ahhh... hnnn, imagine if you had visited me last night? H-Heh... nnngh," he grunted, keeping a steady rhythm as he had his way with her. More notably, he allowed the Water Major more freedom this time around, as her arms were free; she could allow them to stay limp at her sides, push against or towards him, or even make attempts to resist if she so chose. But regardless, even if she didn't feel like moving her hips on her own, he would do that much for her, letting the student feel his member piercing her depths over and over again. Over time his motions would quicken, too, leaving a wet slapping sound to echo throughout the empty classroom--noises that the pen itself would no doubt pick up, along with Black's pleasured grunts and perhaps the occasional cry that would escape from the helpless girl.
After a while, he began to move at a speed more likely to induce another climax from Kurui, and one that seemed certain enough to get the same from him, maintaining it. He wouldn't stay too idle up top, opening his mouth so as to envelop the tip of one of her bouncing breasts with it and proceeding to suckle on the soft mound, teasing the hardened nipple with his tongue in the meanwhile. The teacher even went so far as to trap the nub in between his teeth, almost as if threatening a light bite, but that never came. Again, it was all for the sake of Kurui's reactions to his cruel gestures. But as Black kept on with the fevered act, putting his rather impressive stamina to work, the dark-haired beauty would find that her lewd tutor was keeping himself from finishing on purpose, content to earn as many orgasms from her as humanly possible. She could, at the very least, try her hardest to hold back, or simply give in. Whichever she chose, Black managed to keep himself composed throughout, stopping only once she finished yet again or another ten minutes passed, whichever came first. After slowing to a stop, he then carefully supported her upper back with one hand while the other gripped her bottom, slowly standing while they remained connected at the hips. Taking short steps, he laid her down onto the nearby desk, still inside of her.
Grabbing her ankles, he moved her legs together and to one side over his right shoulder, causing Kurui's interior to wrap around his girth even tighter, pushing himself in deeper with another groan of pleasure. Without having to work with his partner's bodyweight, the noble was then free to choose his own pace. He went with a slower one at first, and despite this, his thrusts were alarmingly forceful, as if taking out some kind of frustration other than a sexual one upon the girl. Not long afterwards, Black resumed his previous rhythm, going with steadily faster strokes, causing the wooden desk to creak with every forceful plunge into the pinned Water Major. Occasionally, he'd spread her legs just enough to stimulate her clit manually while continuing to piston into her, grinning. "Mm, you like that? Don't be too shy to explain, in detail, which spots do it best for you." The Water Major could tell that he practically knew at this point, but she also knew that Black was fairly keen on having her pronounce things out loud for him.
If Kurui were to bother looking up at him instead of away, she would see the instructor's visage strangely focused--after all, it probably took at least some amount of discipline to keep himself from getting too excited, especially with her at his mercy like this. However, given the nature of the position, it wouldn't only work for Black, as the dark-haired girl would also feel a great deal of stimulation upon every square inch of her slick interior. Worse, the way he took her didn't lack in his usual force, the type that only a grown man could provide, and it almost looked as if he was attempting to force a third orgasm out from Kurui's body, changing his angle just enough to hit her sensitive points within. If she did go, he'd hold on, letting her ride it out in its entirety.
A few minutes afterwards, he began to pant while accelerating in a gradual, yet noticeable manner, driving himself in and out with short, quick strokes, finally hinting that his peak was soon approaching. Still, compared to most this time around, he would take a while to build himself to that actual point, encouraged only by any sounds that the girl would release, deliberately or otherwise. "Uhhnh... hahh, hnnf..." he grunted as the pressure built up within his center, and seconds later, he hilted himself into her deeply, pressing his body tightly against hers and tensing his muscles sharply. At that point, Kurui knew that he had reached orgasm, seconds before she felt the first two bursts of heat erupt deep inside from the tip of his throbbing manhood. "Uuuhhh," he sighed, biting his lower lip after the initial discharge. However, the man wasn't simply content to finish there, and he quickly pulled himself out before laying two more ropes of his thick seed upon the exterior of her pussy, placing a lewd pattern on one of her most intimate areas, as if to mark it for his own. "Hahh... hahh, hnnn! Hnnn! Hnnn-aaahhh... uuohhhh... hrrgh..." He plunged right back in afterwards and gave her several more smooth, controlled thrusts, content to have her receive the rest of him, and once reaching a point of satisfaction, withdrew himself once again with a most relieved sigh.
However, Black was not one for any light degree of humiliation. Having finished for the most part, he left her face-up on the desk, allowing her legs to hang over its edge, and briskly made his way to where her head rested. Perhaps as no surprise to Kurui, the lecherous noble then presented his member in front of her face, with it still glistening from the mixture of her juices and his own. "Go on, clean me. And be sure to make a lot of noise as you do so," he commanded, putting emphasis on the latter parts of the sentence.
While undoubtedly a repulsive suggestion for many, it was a peculiar sign of trust, for even he would not add the usual threat of conjuring lightning over her head as he urged her to orally service him, putting his member just inches in front of her lips. Such an action could raise questions regarding Black's overconfidence. After all, his little speech from before was practically a confession at this point, and now he was trusting her with the safety of any man's pride. He was a bit lax in his expression and movements, as many men were after orgasm, and gazed upon her expectantly. But ultimately, it was still Kurui's choice, and the safety of her personal 'tutor's manhood lay with her to do as she pleased.
Re: Elynsor's Royal Magic Academy (Kat) GMed by Takimaru
Kurui's stomach turned at the thought of going to Black's... but she had to admit, the mention of a working flying machine, even as a novelty, almost sounded amazing enough to hold some appeal... almost. She could already feel in her gut though where the conversation was going now. She had expected this much, especially with how she left off her reply last time, but the anticipation was still nerve-wracking. Black's continuing to move the conversation on to the “normalcy” of relations like this, at least in response to her comment about their ages, did nothing to convince her this was normal or any less wrong. Yes, age differences in marriages were a common thing, but it was a practice most prevalent among the nobility and upper class... arranged marriages and all that. For as jealous as Kurui got of nobles sometimes, this was one fact that made her glad not to be one sometimes. Remebering how she almost felt sorry for Odetta earlier, she briefly wondered though if something like that would be as bad as the blatant blackmail rape she had gone through.
“...and might go through again.” she thought to herself from the worst depths of her mind as she felt her cloak and mantle come off.
Kurui was barely paying attention what Black was saying anymore, too tense with dread at what was coming, even though she had already been through it once. She caught enough to make out the main points though... more of Black's entitled rambling, like she owed him for something she never even wanted in the first place. She'd be perfectly content if he lost all interest in her right now and let her get back to her “happy little life”... but with what she knew, him losing interest in her probably meant she'd be killed or worse to keep it secret. If she thought any differently about his respect or value to him, the bits of misogynist commentary in there reminded her otherwise.
To be fair, he had made comments like this before, but then, like now, she was in no position to call him out or challenge him over it. Now more than ever she felt no need to anyway. Proving anything to him other than faking a willingness to learn, wasn't any sort of pride point to her. She was no warrior out to prove anything. With everything taking it's toll on her mentally and emotionally, she even considered he might be right.
“There's nothing I could do to prove him wrong even if I wanted too... Boys may be idiots, but he's no boy. I can't get anywhere close to matching him with magic... and physically I'd probably be as much of a twig to him as I was to Octavian back in the mine. The mine where some trolls half my height scared me so badly I'm still going to have nightmares about it like I'm some little girl afraid of a harmless spider. The trolls who almost hacked apart my legs as I stumbled around and had to get saved by Reius... fuck it I don't care, maybe he's right. He can be right, I just want my old life back!
… calm down. No panicking. I'm going to get it back. A crossbow might be better at it's job than a rock, but they can both kill people. I might be the rock here, but I'm still going to take what he gives me and use the momentum to slam right into his face. I just have to make it through today, then he never touches me ever again. Not me, or Sienna, or anyone else. Maybe I can't beat him myself, but I'm still going to make things happen and get results one way or another. Maybe he's “stronger” than me, but I'm strong enough for this at least. I have to be...”
Kurui took no time to openly challenge or debate Black anything he said. Doing so would have taken some time to think and build up nerve. Kurui had time for neither before Black moved up his stripping and “stimulations” to a more serious level. Whatever Kurui told herself mentally about being “strong enough” and no matter how much she hated Black and was almost on the verge of of a breakdown over this, her body had a mind of it's own... and reacted according to the teasing. The irony of the situation too, was that if she was determined to carry out her plan -and she was- was that it meant she couldn't resist much. She would refuse to play along what little she could, looking away and forcing Black to guide her into any positions he wanted rather than moving on her own, but she dared not raise a hand to strike at him or make any attempts to get away. Such actions might have made him suspicious or... aggressive. Either one was a risk, either of getting her stuff (including her recording pen) destroyed in a rage or making Black think she wasn't serious about “learning” what he had to “teach” her.
Kurui noticed something peculiar even as Black drove her body farther and farther into arousal. He seemed... tense. “Is he tense because he suspects me of something or is onto me... or... is it something else? Is this... all for show... maybe? Could that be it? He doesn't have as much control over himself as he appears to? He... doesn't want me to know this it's as hard for him to keep his body in check as it is for me. Back at the mine... is that why he was so insistent on me doing the final bit of work after I called him out on it? With his obsession with control... it makes sense. Fucking twisted bastard doesn't want to think he's got the restraint of a whore!”
This revelation made Kurui feel a small tinge of being pleased with herself, even if there was a good chance it might not even be true. In a way it was empowering. If she was right, she had found an insecurity of his... one she could exploit if she wanted to. Although... maybe not... he still had better control than she did.
In the next few minutes, Kurui would find herself reduced to a squirming moaning mess of physical pleasure and sex juices. Eevn worse, she could practically feel the satisfaction Black was taking at every sound... every movement she couldn't hold back. Using just his tongue and and a few fingers, he was pushing her to the brink of orgasm... and this time he wasn't even using any lightning. It was almost as if he was proving a point... although what one Kurui couldn't quite think well enough to grasp? What was it? That he knew exactly what “buttons” to press to get a reaction? That he knew the female body so well it was almost like he had one at some point? That was more creepy than anything. The way he could puppet people with lightning though, she briefly wondered if he could also “read” the tiny electric impulses in their nerves while he was doing it, feel what they felt... but it was too hard to think about how possible that actually was. It was hard to think about ANYTHING right now, but for the moment every fraction of a second she could think about anything besides what was happening it would make it that much more bearable.
Black would eventually move on from the teasing to entering Kurui fully, but not before he managed to get a climax out of her first WITHOUT resorting to such measures. Before he even started, Kurui already felt on her way to being burnt out and didn't even want to stand as he moved her into a position for more than just teasing. But she would soon learn her body could take a whole lot more. After having been pushed over the edge once, there would be no resistance this time, no attempts by Kurui to suppress whatever her body wanted to do. The only movement she would consciously make was grasping onto Black with her arms, but only for balance.
“Don't think about! Think about anything else! Ignore the feeling of his breath... fucking piece of Void bile had to be right up in my face! Damnit Kurui! Get through this... survive and bring him down!”
She wished she had a knife or a pen or anything sharp to drive into his throat...
Kurui's behavior of making no attempts to stifle her body or resist Black continued with him inside of her. While she didn't play along, she had no experience resisting her body or denying someone else the way she halfway wished she did right now. It was exactly something she had every made an effort to practice or learn with anyone else “...as if any amount of practice could have prepared me for THIS!”
Black on the other hand, DID seem to have experience. Even as Kurui felt herself rushing towards a second climax, she could tell Black was holding himself back, on purpose. She couldn't tell if this was for the sake of his pleasure or her humiliation, but she could guess the second by what he was saying to her. He would get no answer though, as Kurui was breathing too hard to speak, already starting to drool a little in between heavy gasps. It wasn't until she went over the edge a second time that Black would finally position her for the finish.
Laying back against the desk now, Kurui could tell Black was doing things for his pleasure now. After having already gone through two climaxes, Kurui wasn't sure if she could hold on for a third one like this. But it eventually came, even before Black reached his. In a way the previous two made any sensations Kurui was feeling that much more intense... to a point of being torturous now due to how much they were taking out of her. She could barely move anymore and was pretty much just laying back and taking it. She had never been pushed this far sexually before, not by any Academy boys, and definitely not by anything she had ever done to herself. Luckily this was to be the end of the torment, as soon after her last climax, Black finally allowed himself to finish. It was a rather messy finish, but Kurui didn't care, she was just glad for it to be mostly over. For a few moments she just laid there on the desk trying to catch her breath and winding down from everything... until she noticed Black's still-erect member hovering in front of her face.
“...me first.” Kurui panted out in a burnt out voice barely above a whisper. It wasn't much, but it was the most she could offer in the way of defiance after all that.
“~~~~~” Kurui started to chant for a water spell and aimed one of her hands not towards Black, but towards her own lower body where Black had pulled out and marked her with his mess. There was a risk Black might have taken the chanting as a sign of aggression, but there was no need, the energy forming in Kurui's hands was amateurishly unstable, nowhere near forming any kind of spell gate. She couldn't focus at all right now.
“...fuck.” she let her hand drop back to her side with a languished motion and went back to trying to catch her breath for a moment, completely ignoring Black's command to her or the shaft hovering near her face. This would only last a for a few seconds though before she opened her eyes again, brought them into focus, and seemed to be home again mentally. Slowly she tried to raise her head and start on the task in front of her.
“Don't think about it... just get through the motions... nice and easy and mechanical. You do this willingly or else...” her mind flashed to images of her being grabbed by the hair and forced upon Black's manhood... slammed down on it until it was down her throat over and over, with no concern for how well she could breathe or how much it might hurt that way. “FUCKING BASTARD I'M GONNA BITE DOWN AND TEAR HIS DICK OFF! ...-no. No Kurui, don't do that. That's stupid. You're so close now... don't ruin it. Just lap up this bile, swallow it down, and get out of here. This is the LAST thing you ever have to do. He deserves to have his dick torn off... I want to do it so badly. But this isn't about what he deserves or what I want. This is about more than that... I'm protecting Sienna and Rythe. I'm making sure Dinn and Reius and Anisse come back if they're still alive. This isn't about me wanting revenge. Besides... what would biting do? There would be a lot of blood... erections are cause by blood... the blood would be almost worse than the small bit of cum right now. If I bit... maybe he couldn't focus well enough for magic... but he's amazing at magic... maybe he could. Maybe I'd be electrocuted before I spit the chunks out.... or maybe he would just beat me to death. He's no soldier or anything, but neither am I, he'd snap me in a few seconds... especially if he's mad. Even if I avoided both of those... there would be screaming. Maybe monitors come... maybe they're in his pocket. The delinquents I handled were one thing... but I can't fight Monitors... I can't beat Academy graduates with only two years of experience myself. No... Black will get what he deserves, I just need to get through this and hope he thinks it's because I'm breaking or well behaved... not because I have a plan.”
Kurui closed her eyes, tried to ignore the taste of cum in her mouth and thoughts of what she was actually doing right now, and focused on getting it done. She tried to be fast, and avoided as well as she could any movements that might tease or stimulate Black into any more lewd acts. She didn't exactly fufill his demand to be loud about it other than a few weak attempts at slurping, but she could barely make noise right now anyway and she knew Black knew that. Other than this detail though, she was admittedly doing a good job with the cleaning part. In just a few short moments she was finished, although it felt like forever to her. Laying back again she finally built up the nerve to adress him directly for the first time since this whole thing started... although her voice was still weak and exhausted.
“...I could have bit... you know. You better trust I'm trying to learn now... and trust that I'll behave.”
Perhaps the mere act of mentioning this would make Black more suspicious of her plan right now... but the actual evidence and what she had just done spoke otherwise and she felt the need to drive that in.
“Damnit... I was going to show you how much better I got at gate control too... now I can hardly focus.” She continued in something of a stupor, more to herself than Black. Pausing for a moment after this though she brought her thoughts back on track. “You're not going to let me miss class today to get over this, are you? You should at least give me the rest of this lesson though. We both know I need to get cleaned up before the others get here... and probably take something so I don't end up giving you an unwanted child. Please... nothing like last lesson... I did good today, right?” Her voice trailed off with an almost pleading tone as she dared to look at his face for a reaction.
"Ohhh... yesss, just like that... perfect," coached Black as Kurui went to work in cleaning him up, making no effort to stifle the intermittent groans of pleasure that escaped him whenever she found a particularly sensitive spot on his manhood. Closing her eyes would at least help in not having to see the terrible act she was ordered to do, as it was a task that didn't require much in the way of eyesight to begin with. Even if she did, however, it didn't spare the Water Major from hearing the man's blissful sighs, nor would it keep the sadistic lecturer's gaze off of her partially exposed form in the aftermath of their coupling. Worse, in addition to having to taste her own juices mixed with Black's own, Kurui would feel another bead of the man's juices released upon her hard-working tongue. It was repulsive, to say the least, for him to have added insult to injury in such a manner, but on the other hand, actions like these were practically to be expected by now.
When she finished, Black exhaled deeply before tucking his member back in, then properly dressed himself within moments. He grinned with satisfaction, looking down at his student as he did so. "Aaah... you did quite well. From how you felt, I could tell you came two... no, three times. I'm looking forward to more sessions like these in the future, no doubt."
The teacher made a sinister chuckle, taking a step back and giving Kurui some room to regain her bearings. "Heh, how cheeky, as always. And who are you to tell me what I should and shouldn't trust in? That being said, I'm a little surprised at the spirit by which you carried out such an order. Done this before, have you? It matters not. You'll have learned plenty more in that field by the time your private lessons come to a close, and then some. But as I said before, as time goes on, I'm sure that you'll come to honestly appreciate even the less... academic aspects of our relationship. Had you visited me, it could have been even better, but alas, that will have to wait for another time." He did seem to enjoy hammering the same point home over and over again with regards to her failure to accept his invitation.
Thankfully, the professor did move on past that, on to other topics. "Oh, I don't doubt that you've improved by some degree. Even if it has been just one night, I'd like to think that I chose you properly. Besides, I already have enough proof that you at least attempted to practice some gate control, at the range." He raised a brow at her following question, then hesitated, as if fighting a certain urge... perhaps one that would have him treat her with further cruelty.
Ultimately, Kurui's pleas won out, and Black gave her a slow nod, looking especially thoughtful when she mentioned the danger of giving him an unwanted child, however tempting that might be as far as the humiliation factor went. "...Very well. Get yourself cleaned up, and return before class begins. I still have a lesson for you, so I expect that you'll stay after for an hour or so in order to learn it properly. Go on," he commanded, leaving her free to take the necessary measures to recover from the humiliating ordeal.
Re: Elynsor's Royal Magic Academy (Kat) GMed by Takimaru
Kurui was halfway in disbelief by the time the whole ordeal was over. Not disbelief over the act itself, of that she was painfully aware, but disbelief that she managed to choke down everything and keep it down. She still felt sick from it all, her stomach feeling like she had drank poison, but was manageable now. It was worse during the act itself, and the moment she unintentionally coaxed a little extra from Black's erect manhood she thought for sure she everything would come back up, her body rejecting the reality of what it was taking in and the "fresh" juices somehow being being even worse than the ones that were only a few seconds old. Thankfully though, such a moment never did come to pass. Kurui knew whether it was voluntary or not, such an act probably would revolted Black right out of the zone of bliss he was in right now... and Kurui knew that likely would have ended badly for her.
Things didn't exactly go comforting after the whole ordeal as it was anyway. Though Kurui had done a “good job” with her part of the whole thing, Black wasn't content to let her off that easily. Nit without a few burning words to drive everything in deeper, although their effect on Kurui was questionable. She was too burnt out to work up the energy to reply to any of it verbally.
“...next time? No... there's not going to be a next time. You... just keep sitting there... taunting me like someone with the maturity of those delinquents from earlier... maybe I'll do the same... when they execute you in front of everyone in the city square...”
Despite these thoughts though, Kurui knew she had to stay alive to make them happen. When she finally got up the strength to speak, it would be a plea, not a protest. Tinged with all the exhaustion and humiliation she was feeling right now. Though Black would, for a brief moment, look angry at this appeal of pity, he would eventually give in and cut Kurui some slack much to her relief as she let herself un-tense from the lightning shocks was she expecting to get. Whether it was because he was smugly satisfied he had been able to make her hurt so bad, or because there was some logic in her her argument (after all, if she had become pregnant, a lot of her physical appeal would dissapear in a few months), Kurui didn't know. It didn't matter though, she didn't care what the reason was, only that it worked. Now was safe time, now was time to breathe and stay sane. She still trusted Black to play “fair”, if nothing else.
It took Kurui a good few moments more she could get herself to her feet, but there was no rush. Her question at the start of this lesson had been short, the sexual encounter had been fast, she figured she still had at least an hour before real class started, if not more. Once on her feet, her head cleared a bit. Focusing was still hard, but somehow she managed to form some water gates to help clean herself off... at least enough that she would look OK once her uniform was back on. She went through the whole task silently, except for the required enchanting, as if Black wern't even there... or she hurt too much inside to care. The whole effect was amplified by the fact that her body didn't want to work with her, it was sluggish, like it just wanted to drag her under and pass out. That was stupid though and she knew it. If she passed out now she probably wouldn't wake up in the safety of her room... or anywhere on the Academy. She kept herself aware and forced through it. A few moments later she had redressed herself, grabber her bad wordlessly and with no tinge of nervousness that might have betrayed what was in it (in her state showing any emotion was hard) and left the room, expecting another attack in the back that would thankfully not come this time.
Outside the room, Kurui felt horrible, but as she felt around in her bag, her heart started to race. She still had the enchanted pen she used to record everything. This hadn't all been for nothing! It was hard to describe what she was feeling as “excitement” given her current state, but it was energizing. There were still things that could have gone wrong. But this at least went right. There was still more to do, but this success gave her enough will to shake her out of her clumsy robotic state into almost a vigor of sorts. She quickly made her way to back to her room to drop the pen off, practically jogging the way there. Being so quick might have caused Rythe to miss a shot of her leaving Black's room, but the lesson was supposed to be 2 hours anyway. In all likelihood Rythe wasn't even around, or if she was was remaining unseen. It didn't matter, the recording was compelling enough on it's own if it worked and she had a “start time” on the memory crystal Rythe had anyway.
One hour left before class... she still had plenty of time when she got to her room. Almost immedietly she took the pen out and hid it in the box under the floorboards with the rest of her evidence. She wanted to check it now, but there was still other things she had to do.
The first of these things was easy, she opened one of her drawers and took out a bitter potion and drank it down. It was meant to prevent pregnancy. Unlike healing potions or mind potions and their amazing abilities to push a body past it's limits, these potions were relatively cheap and not all that uncommon. Cheap, reliable... “still tastes like burnt ashes soaked in dirty mop water.”
Second, she had to look presentable for class later, and presentable when she showed up to the Order of St Lisle later if everything went according to plan. Her next stop would be the Academy bathhouse.
Kurui's visit to the bathhouse would be brief, no more than 10 or 15 minutes. As much as she wanted to soak and preen over her hair to calm herself down, there was no time for that today. She felt betrayed by her hair anyway, when upon entering the water she found some of it sticky, having no doubt absorbed up some juices of her earlier encounter. Part of her wanted to take a knife and savagely slash off the offending locks right there. Good thing for her she didn't have one. The whole bath visit would be a quick affair. In, out, dressed (in a new unifrom of course, she would proabbly never wear the one from Black's class ever again), and done. It wasn't relaxing, but it got the more important job. As soon as this was over, she ran back to her room, making no stops along the way.
“Now comes the moment of truth... now we see if this worked...” Kurui was back in her room now, having retrieved her box of evidence and started up the recording pen again. For a few moments there was nothing, then she remembered she had recorded 15 minutes of silence before going Black's early lesson, just in case he had found it.
“Tch... damnit...”
This would be the longest 15 minutes of her life.
Anticipation was killing her. She needed a way to pass the time. Nothing else aside from this seemed significant. That was OK though. She grabbed a piece of parchment and started writing. On it she would start transcribing down everything that had happened since yesterday, or at least the details that were important. On it would be a list of every piece of “evidence” in her box, done in great detail, about where each piece came from and what it meant. She would breeze through the whole thing in a little over 10 minutes. The story part of the parchment was probably somewhat poorly written, given her current state, but it would be passable. Carefully she folded the piece of parchment up, stuffed it in the box, and though about what came next.
“In a minute or two I find out if this recording worked. Then I hide all this away again, wait for Rythe to show, tell her what happened and where everything is in case anything happens to me in my after-class lesson with Black. If nothing does, we grab Sienna, get out of here where we'll all be safe, and tell someone what's happened. Then all thats left to do is pray they actually believe me. Simple... fucking simple, right?”
Not simple. So much that could still go wrong. But her plan with Teague a few days ago had been even riskier, and that one had worked...
"Please Erion... give me my tiny ray of hope to hold on to..."
Re: Elynsor's Royal Magic Academy (Kat) GMed by Takimaru
Black was not particularly shy in the least about turning an eye to Kurui as she cleaned herself off, potentially making the already awkward situation even more uncomfortable, provided the Water Major even had the strength to care at this point. After all, he had already done his part in physically ensuring her discomfort--there was probably little more he could do after his last few taunts. The teacher made no protests when she did get cleaned up and moved to leave the room without a single word, however, instead remaining content to look over his lesson plans for the day ahead.
In addition, no shock came this time when she turned her back to him; after all, she hadn't exhibited nearly the same degree of defiance as she did the other day. Outright disobedience was more likely to elicit stronger punishments from Black, and Kurui knew it. Even during her shallow attempts at negotiating, she could tell as much from the minute changes in his otherwise stoic expression that she was pushing it, but not quite over the edge the way that she did when having refused him the day before.
By the time she left the building, Kurui hadn't even so much as seen Rythe for a second. Perhaps it was for the better, as this likely meant she was already far enough at this point for the Syndicate lecturer not to suspect anything from the Lightning Major. The last thing she needed was another Sienna, as far as liability went. Black had already exploited one of her known bonds, milked it for all it was worth, and then some. But all of this would end soon enough, hopefully. Grim determination would drive the Water Major through the next series of tasks, most of which were rather unpleasant.
First was downing the bitter brew meant to prevent pregnancy, a relatively recent development in itself. This potion was immediately looked down upon by the officials of the Elynsorian Church, who labeled it as a boon to potentially immoral and irresponsible behavior, but welcomed by the Royal Magic Academy, for various reasons, namely the retention of its finest academics. Though the liquid tasted terrible, it did its job, and more importantly gave Kurui some peace of mind in knowing that she wouldn't be stuck with Black's bastard child for reasons beyond her control. Rather, more than anything, it gave her some degree of said control back where much of it had been taken from her.
Second involved cleaning herself of Black's filth in the public baths. At this time of day, there were more girls about, taking their time in preening themselves and getting ready before class started, so it took a while before Kurui could find an open one to soak in, towards the very end. Luckily, she didn't draw too much attention, as there were many people going in and out of the facilities, no doubt hurrying to get ready for the day ahead. It didn't matter either way, though, as she was in and out before long, just like the rest, and while the quick soak did its part in cleaning the physical remnants of her coupling with the lecherous professor, the rushed job left her hair slightly damp by the time she left.
Then came the final, and most important detail of it all; to see if the recording worked. Back in her room, Kurui activated the enchanted pen, and waited, but not for long, finding that writing a proper note to supplement what would hopefully be a new piece of evidence in the case against Black would be more time-efficient. Her hands still trembled from a mixture of excitement, fear, and...well, who knew what it was, but it made the task much more challenging than it would be normally. Still, she managed to scrawl out something legible enough to be used as proper proof, and afterwards... well, it was back to waiting. Torturous in and of itself, not nearly enough time seemed to pass by quickly enough before she could even tell that the pen had done its job. Kurui almost had enough of a delay to attempt a second draft of her hastily written letter, but before she could, it started.
*****
"To be honest, I was hoping you'd have reconsidered my offer for dinner last night, but I suppose that's a bit too much to ask. I can't make you like me, after all. Perhaps one day I'll receive proper gratitude, but I suppose that comes after I teach you a bit more, hmm? It looks like you opted to spend your time at the range last night instead. I can commend you for that much. It also appears as though you had something of a run-in with three delinquents. You're quite fortunate... and worry not, those three were on their last strikes, from the looks of it. They won't be seen in this Academy again. So, is my favorite student ready for today's lesson?"
It worked.
The rest of the conversation came in naturally, flowing through with relatively little 'static' or interference of any kind. It was perfect. A presentable piece, in and of itself. If Kurui were to wait long enough, then the sounds of the less wholesome details of her little session with Black would also resume, but the point was, this would pass. All that remained was to hide the evidence away properly, which she would do beneath the floorboards, find Rythe, and return to class in time.
By the time she left her dorm building, the sun had risen, giving her a glimpse of weather she could actually enjoy in the past few days for once. Rythe was outside, not far from the doors of Kurui's class, waiting with her bag slung over one shoulder. She was looking around rather cautiously, and understandably so, appearing a little more downbeat than her usual level-headed self. When Kurui approached, she offered a meek smile, greeting her in a rather subdued tone for once.
"So, um... did you... Did you get it?"
“-OHSHI! Too loud!”
Kurui practically jumped and almost knocked over everything on her desk when the first sounds finally started coming from the enchanted recording pen. Suddenly, in an instant, she realized how out of place the sounds were here, the sounds of a male voice here in the girls dorms, let alone Black's, right here in her room. Suddenly the walls and the floors seemed paper thin (despite them being thick stone) and she wondered how she could have been so stupid as to not have thought of that before. She moved fast though, and in less than a few quick seconds, the source of the noise was safely wrapped up in the thick blankets of her bed and muffled to a level lower than that of casual conversation.
Kurui would continue to listen like this for just a few minutes more, just to make double sure the rest of the everything that happened had been captured. While she didn't have time to listen to the whole thing, the following few moments made a strong testament to the reliability of the enchanted piece, and she she reached into the mass of blankets and clicked it off before it got to the humiliating parts.
“It... worked. It... really worked...”
“...heh... hehehe... IT WORKED! HAHAHA IT WORKED! Thank you, Erion!”
Kurui was laughing. Laughing and crying at the same time over her good fortune. This was it, this was the riskiest part of the whole plan and it worked. She knew she wasn't out the woods yet, but this was the closest thing she had felt to happiness in what felt like far longer than the last day or so. She could leave right now if she wanted, grab Sienna who probably wasn't even ready for class yet, find Rythe, and all three of them get out of here before Black's regular class even started. The idea was empowering... but her brain checked itself against the surge of emotion, pulling back and denying her these happy feelings she wanted in order to keep her focused on reality.
“Stupid... getting all excited like that. Even... even this works... it won't undo what happened to me. And I'll have done it all for nothing if I get ahead of myself like this. I could leave right now... Sienna and Rythe would be safe... but Black would notice when me and Rythe didn't show up to class... he'd suspect something... disappear and then never get what he deserves. He'd be long gone by the time the Order of St. Lisle or anyone else gets here. No... after everything that Bastard did to me and the others! No! He's getting what he fucking deserves! I have to keep him blind until this trap has already closed in around him like he did to us with the mine trip!”
Although her decision to wait was seemingly driven now by the same strong pangs of emotion and impulsiveness as changing her mind and leaving now would have been, in the big picture this was probably the smarter plan because it was the original one... the one she had spent more time thinking about. After all, she hadn't originally expected her early lesson to end as early as it had. It was a small unexpected turn, but in the big picture nothing had changed. She put all her evidence back in the small box, including the enchanted pen, hid it back under the floorboards, and left to find Rythe.
“Nobody is going to find it here, not even if they tear the whole room apart. It's safe as long as one of us is around to get it where it needs to go later... unless Black is psychic or something.”
Finding Rythe would prove easier now that some time had passed. Kurui found the Lightning Major outside near the class, there because this was when her own early lesson was SUPPOSED to have ended. Kurui's early release had thrown off her plan of having Rythe get a memory crystal shot of her leaving, but that was fine. For as many risks as this plan had, such a small thing was an acceptable setback.
Kurui kept glancing over her shoulder and around the area, there were few people about at this hour, and even fewer that would overhear them talking, but something about the sun made Kurui uneasy. It was too bright, they didn't have the dim veil of darkness and dew mist they had early in the morning. She felt too exposed. When Rythe first addressed her, she said nothing and pulled the lightning major into a nearby building first, where the would be better hidden from anyone who might be trying to watch them.
“Yeah... I got it Rythe. I got everything we need. I don't know if ANYTHING we say is going to make anyone take action against a noble, but this is about as perfect proof of anything as I could possibly ask for.”
Kurui's noticed her own voice had no pangs of excitement like it should have with such good news. She didn't care. A few hours from now Rythe would understand why when she heard the recording on the pen, but for now explaining wasn't important.
“I don't know if Black caught me, he wanted me to stay an hour after class today... but he made a huge mistake even if he did catch me. He didn't take the recording, didn't do anything to sabotage it. Maybe he thinks I won't use it myself, or that I wouldn't endanger Sienna by telling her about it... but I don't think he knows about you. We're not really talkative in class, even to eachother. The only thing we've ever done to show we're friends around him was when we were talking before the mine trip... which he wasn't even there for.
Anyway... here's the plan. We could leave right now and have as good a chance at proving ourselves as ever, but Black would notice us gone and maybe disappear, so I'm choosing to wait. If Black caught me... if for some reason I'm not out of his class soon after my after-class “lesson” is over... YOU need to be the one to do this. Everything I have as evidence is in a box in the far corner of my room. The floorboards are loose and come up and it's hidden there. All you need to do to is take it and make sure someone who can do something gets it. I've already written a note explaining everything that's happened too.”
Kurui neglected to mention a few small details of her explanation note were off. Calculated choices, for the safety of everyone. In it there was, for example, no mention of the other Academy Instructors Black had claimed were Redclaws. There was no point in kicking a hornet's nest far larger than she was, she was after Black and only him. Nobody else had hurt her like he had. The whole thing might have even been all a lie to scare to scare her. Even if it wasn't she hoped if the more Redclaws existed that they would be content to just let Black suffer the consequences of his own failure, rather than avenge him.
Also among the edits, she had lied about Octavian's role in the plan, painting him as out of the loop as Colt was and making the choices he did only to stay alive. While this was a lie, he HAD tried to save her life earlier. She wasn't sure if he was even alive... or if he would even give up if the kingdom sent someone to clear the mine, but she had at least given him this much of a chance. A life for a life.
Final amongst the edits was no mention of what Black had taught her or how she had used it to defend herself the day before. No need to shoot herself in the foot like that. It was self-defense, she knew she had been right, but an argument over why she had lied to the Academy monitors about it wasn't important... just a distraction from the far bigger issues. Far bigger issues that she needed credibility and luck to get across to anyone, even with her proof.
“Listen, Rythe. Go take your memory crystal back to your room or something. Hide it so you don't have it on you for class. It will be better if you have something like that walk back up there to kill a few minutes anyway, so you don't show up to class at the same time as I do. Black may have made a big mistake today, but he's not stupid... we can't give him anything he can use to identify us as friends. Back... when I woke up in the mine and he threatened me with Sienna... he knew so much just from having seen her one time... he even remembered her class as 1-A. That's such a small detail, just a letter and a number, the kind of things most people forget after an hour like a date in a book... but he remembered. Thats not normal. When we're in class, don't even look at me, don't show any signs that you know about what we're doing. If you start to feel nervous or something, just leave class and say you're sick. He won't stop you with everyone there.
Then, like I explained, when class is over, wait about half an hour, get Sienna, then wait for me. If I'm not back an hour later, get a key from her to my room or just kick the door down if you have to, get the box, and do whatever you have to do to get her somewhere safe. Got it?”
Kurui would end her explanation with a deadly serious look right into Rythe's eyes, trying to guage if she truly grasped how serious this was and if she understood the plan. They were so close now. Kurui couldn't afford to have anything go wrong, couldn't afford to have Rythe go grab the box right now and play hero. This had to be done slowly and carefully, there would be no second chances with someone like Black. If Kurui saw what she was looking for in the Lightning Major's eyes though, there would be nothing else to do except start on her way to class. Nothing good ever happened when she was around Black, but she had survived this ordeal for nearly 3 days now since the morning of her trip... 4 more hours between her regular class and her after-class lesson was all that was left if everything went right... 4 more hours...
Rythe's expression lightened as soon as she heard Kurui confirm that the evidence had successfully been acquired. She didn't react in a bubbly, excited way, like how Sienna would normally respond to such good news, nor in her own usual calm and composed manner; the vibe she gave off this time around was noticeably less secure. Her lips merely curled upwards into something of a forced smile, with just a few traces of obvious relief, though there still lay a fairly noticeable hint of discomfort beneath her visage.
"I see... that's good. No, I... I think it'll help. It has to. I don't think he spotted me, either, but..." she trailed off before letting her classmate continue. The Lightning Major listened intently to the explanation that followed, nodding occasionally to show that she did follow. Somehow, hearing Kurui go on about plans being put together, as well as the pros and cons of the various options available to them, seemed to ease the brunette's mind, at least for the time being. She seemed to regain her focus afterwards, enough to lose the momentary pauses in her speech from before. "Right. No, definitely better to finish class, make it look like any other day. So, you're only supposed to stay an hour afterwards, right? I'll make sure of it, then. Box, under the floorboards, far corner... got it."
Next came Kurui's actual instructions, along with her recollections of their instructor's uncanny skill at memorizing important details. This gradually brought Rythe's emotional state, as shown by her body language, to a place similar to how it was before. Her shoulders slumped, her brow furrowed ever so slightly as she continued to hear the other girl out. "A-Alright... I got it. You can, um, count on me." She turned around as if to head back towards the dorms, but for only a moment.
Hesitating, Rythe did another about face to set eyes upon her friend once more, even going so far as to tug on her mantle should the Water Major also attempt to make her way into the building. "Ah-m... Kurui... are you... alright? Seriously? I mean... are you really, really okay? Because... u-uh... I..."
She looked as if she were about to cry. "I heard--... I heard it... what he did to you earlier this morning, I..." Tears welled up at the corners of her eyes. "I didn't actually think that he w-was... m-making you... do THAT for him..." The girl grimaced, failing to properly stifle a sob. "I'm so sorry Kurui... I didn't know. You went through all of that for Sienna? W-Why...? Did he, did he do the same thing to you on the morning of Red Day?! What did you do to deserve this? ...I don't understand it at all!" Honest emotion poured out as she wept lightly, trying her best to hold it all back despite herself. "I-I... I knew it was a bad situation but, hearing it was just... it's almost like I didn't really know how -real- it all was until then. I was just a little curious, so I s-stuck around, but after that... after that, I had to leave. I feel like I should've tried to get you out of there, should've screamed for help, or... or SOMETHING, but I was so scared. I just thought about what a terrible person I was for letting you go through all of that. Forgive me..."
She took a moment to calm herself down, wiping her eyes and letting Kurui respond, if she needed to, before turning around once more. "I don't even trust him with you after class now. But we need to go... to the Order, today, for sure. We have to. I'll... I'll put this thing away and wash up, a little, and I'll be back, okay? Huff..."
Rythe took a deep breath, enough so that her shoulders rose and fell noticeably. If the Water Major had nothing more to say to her, she would run off towards the dorms, avoiding the potential stares of anyone nearby walking on campus.
Although Rythe was a good listener like usual, something was off. It took Kurui a moment to pick up on it, her own ability to feel emotion and pick up on it considerably deadened by the fresh experience she just got out of in Black's class. Still, parts of her subconscious still seemed able to function, to give her gut feelings that something was off. She stood stumped awhile longer though, trying to pick up on why that was. Rythe was never the super bubbly positive type, but eventually Kurui was able to pin down that the depression she was radiating was... not normal with the calm, even blissfully ignorant, way she was behaving before.
“Oh god... she's... like me when this started. Thats why I couldn't pick up on it early. I've gotten so used to hurting all the time... it's become normal. All the more reason to end this before I lose myself even more.
But wait...
Why is RYTHE like this? The only way this makes sense is if... if Black did something to her-NO! That's not possible! He was with me the whole time. There's no way he could've had time to do anything to Rythe... but then... our lesson ended early. Erion no! No, no, no, I didn't draw anyone else into this. Black wouldn't rush this, he did nothing! Maybe... he had someone else do something to her... maybe-”
Kurui's imagination had, in an instant, started to run wild with possibilities, but it wouldn't take much longer than that for her to get an answer, one that would completely stop her in her tracks.
All the blood drained from Kurui's face as she stood there frozen.
“Heard... she... heard? Did I... hear that right? SHE HEARD?!”
Kurui's freezing in place wouldn't stop the lightning major from continuing on, tears forming now. There was no mistake about it, Kurui had heard correctly and Rythe had heard everything.
“Damnit... nobody was supposed to know. Nobody else was supposed to get sucked into this... DAMNIT!”
The color started to come back to Kurui's face with a flush of blood that was boiling with anger. Anger at who? Rythe? No... no, she couldn't be angry at Rythe for wanting a bigger picture of things. Black? Herself? She didn't even know anymore. Her hands balled into fists, she wanted to turn around right now, spell in hand, prepped and ready. A full power ice spell this time, compress it in her gate, and fire it so hard that Black's head would explode before he even knew what happened. Fuck the consequences of murdering a noble, it would be worth it just to know he was dead. “No... no... don't think like that. Thats not smart. Kurui, you KNOW thats not smart. Stop being angry. What's done is done, focus on Rythe now.” Kurui calmed down a little, relaxed her hands, but her voice was still cold and harsh when she spoke.
“This has been going on for three days now, some of them worse than others, ever since the mine trip. There's a reason I was the only one from my group to make it back alive.” Kurui didn't go into details about what happened to the others, to avoid panicking Rythe even more, but the word “alive” had slipped into her sentence anyway. “I'm not OK... I'm far from OK, but Erion help me, I'm going to end this Rythe. I'm going to make sure that bastard is swinging from the gallows in the city square while I watch. No matter how long it takes. Everyone is going to know him for what he is. But I need to be alive to make that happen. All this... ALL of it... was to keep myself alive for that reason. And to keep Sienna safe. If he gets her... or you... or anyone else close to me... then there's nothing good in the world and I don't want to be alive anymore.”
Kurui was shaking now, these were things she always knew subconsciously, but to voice them out loud made her aware of them in a scary way. “No more anger, stuff the anger away. Anger makes you make mistakes. Mistakes waste everything you've done. You've made too many mistakes already Kurui. Everything is falling apart, now more than ever you need to hold it together.” Kurui took a few slow deep breaths, trying a second time to calm down. This one worked better than the first attempt. Stuffing away the fury, her mental tunnel vision receded and her attention was free to focus on the sobbing Rythe besides her. This time when she spoke her voice would be soft and soothing, as she had done for Sienna so many times before.
“Rythe... you did fine. There's nothing to apologize for. If you had done anything we might both be dead, I'd feel horrible if that happened. I'm going to be OK, I promise you I am.” Kurui didn't believe this lie herself, but her voice didn't betray any doubt “It's going to hurt for a long time, but then it's going to fade away and everything is going to be OK again. Just a few more hours, thats all I have to hold together for. I've already done it for 3 days now, I'm strong enough for this. I'm sorry you got dragged into this, but you don't have to do anything else now... nothing else at all. You've been more help to me than you even know, even if I hid things, I needed someone to talk to, you know? It was enough to get me here, so go rest now.”
She placed a hand on the lightning major's shoulder and steered her away from the direction of the class.
“No class for you today. You're in no shape for it. Stay in your room today, cry it out, call Sienna over if you have to. She doesn't know anything about this, but if it gets to be too much, I'd rather you tell her than anyone else. As long as I show up to Black's, the two of you will be safe until lessons are done, then after that we're all going somewhere we'll all be safe until this whole thing is done, OK? I'm the one who needs to be apologizing, but this is all going to be over soon, I promise. One way or another it's going to be over soon.”
Kurui would watch Rythe make her way back to the dorms, making sure she was still good enough to walk. She desperately hoped Rythe would take her advice and stay in today. Even though Kurui had said Rythe wouldn't need to do anything else, she needed the Lightning Major strong a few hours from now.... she needed the brunette out of the way while she was in this state. It was a cold way to think, but results where what mattered now. And... in it's own way... not so cold, the time to internalize everything might do Rythe worlds of good. As Kurui turned to go to class, a small part of her desperately wished she herself could have a small break to just be safe from everything. The morning was still young, but already she felt like she had a lot she could cry out if she had the chance...
Re: Elynsor's Royal Magic Academy (Kat) GMed by Takimaru
By the time Kurui began to elaborate on the true nature of her relationship with Black, Rythe didn't have the energy to respond terribly well. She only stood there, listening as best she could, her entire body twitching every now and then while she sniffled and worked to wipe away her own tears. The brunette made no comment in reply to the first parts of the other girl's speech, instead letting her finish completely before managing to say anything. While she looked as if she wanted to protest to some of the parts of Kurui's explanation that held darker undertones to them, she ultimately found herself pacified enough at the end to be sent away without too much resistance.
"R-Right... *sniff* I'll... see you after class, then," she said in a near whisper, looking to be emotionally drained from the outburst. Afterwards, she headed back towards her room, although instead of running, she opted to walk, her head bowed so as to hide her face. If her everyday behavior around Kurui was indicator, it would serve as no surprise that Rythe wasn't used to showing this degree of emotion, at least not in public.
This left the Water Major free to head to class. By the time she made it to the room, the appointed start time was just about to begin. Many of the students were already seated by the time Kurui took hers, a relatively rare occurrence in itself. It didn't seem to spoil the teacher's mood any, however, given the 'service' she had performed for him earlier. If anything, he seemed slightly more upbeat than usual, which many of the students took note of before proceeding to exchange odd glances between one another, along with a few whispers and subdued giggles or chuckles. Black didn't let this go on for long, tapping the podium loudly with his knuckles to gain everyone's attention, his brow raised at the classroom's odd, inexplicable liveliness, reacting to a joke that he clearly wasn't in on.
Rythe's apparent absence, spelled out when attendance was taken, was only glazed over by the instructor despite the occurrence's inherent rarity. He then gave Kurui a knowing look, but to her, instead of a glare of suspicion, it felt rather lecherous, instead, given the way his gaze dropped at her frame for a fraction of a second before sweeping away smoothly. She could practically feel his intent there, almost as if he was simply waiting for the next opportunity to be alone with her, so that he could do with her as he pleased. But even he retained enough consciousness regarding the situation, and thus avoided paying her too much extra attention, so as not to be incredibly obvious despite his near slip-up from earlier. "Today, we'll be discussing the properties of planar energy and its known effects on the inhabitants of our world..."
Class went on, as usual, and despite it being about as routine as most sessions, it didn't nearly go by quickly enough. A good chunk of the classroom also looked a bit tired, no doubt having stayed up late the night of Red Day. The stern professor wasn't to let the general atmosphere radiating from the students bring him down, however, and went on undisturbed. He talked about the different planes, as he often did; fire, water, earth, lightning and wind. Omitted from the lecture were the qualities of Cosmic and Void airs. It was the Elynsorian Church's place to educate the public on matters of the former, of which they took great care and pride in explaining, using carefully selected terms.
While the more scientific approach of the Royal Magic Academy would have undoubtedly provided a viewpoint closer to the objective side of things, the clergy made it a point to keep them from researching such matters or even discussing them. Such was the case with Voidic energy as well, at least for as long as Kurui could remember. Cosmic energy was inherently beneficial for the inhabitants of the world, and Voidic energy detrimental, with very few exceptions with regards to the former, and none in terms of the latter. This was all anyone needed to know as far as the church was concerned, whether a citizen was a peasant of an intellectual of the Academy.
Class concluded rather uneventfully. Lafton, the Fire Major who had made his confession the previous afternoon, offered Kurui a half-hearted smile and a wave before taking his leave, and Black was quick to take mental note of this miniscule transaction. He soon left, however, along with the others, who, while still willing to quietly converse with each other on the way out, still carried a relative quietness as a group. The events the other day still hadn't completely sunk in for some, while lingering over others like a dark cloud. Reius hadn't been there to answer all of the questions, nor was Dinn present to make pervy wisecracks, which more often than not used to spark a few chuckles or protests here and there. Odetta, who was clearly worried to death over her friend Anisse, left with a frown, despite one of her friends having told her to wait.
This friend, Celeste, would be one of the last to leave, but not before approaching the Water Major. "Heya, Kurui. I know Anisse was in your group, and well, Odetta's just been having a really hard time since the trip, sooo yeah. If you wanted to just hang out with us sometime, I think um... I think even she would appreciate it. I know I would. Between you and me, I just feel like we gotta stick together as a class during times like these." Her voice lowered to a whisper as she leaned forward. "Since our teacher isn't exactly the most... I dunno, sympathetic about this whole thing--or anything, really. So... yeah. Just visit my dorm in room 312 sometime." With that, she left, and Kurui was alone again. With Black, in the classroom where he had done all manner of things to her, and would likely continue to, if this was to become a tradition of sorts.
She would be the only one of the two to truly feel this discomfort, however, as for the lecherous professor it was no doubt some kind of blessing. He looked up expectantly at Kurui, waiting for her to take her seat at his desk before speaking. "Mm, that was quite a nice job this morning, by the way. I was quite pleased by your obedience. I'm looking forward to doing it tomorrow, as well... but for now, we'll consider the matter of your education. Ah... yes. Enchanting. Just for you, I've brought a text from my private collection that I will loan to you."
Reaching into his own suitcase, he produced a medium leather-bound book and placed it on the desk in front of her. "Consider it your recommended reading. You see, the problem with enchanting is that it is so shrouded in mysticism and other such nonsense that the proper methods have been difficult to isolate. Ask any enchanter and they'll detail a long, tedious process by which to generate the item or to 'infuse' it with the proper spell. Half of that is useless residual procedures borne from tradition. However, after careful examination of several existing enchanted items, there is one key method that I feel all enchanters share, whether they themselves are aware of it or not, and that is the principle of 'saturation'."
He went on. "For example, take this." Reaching into one of his pockets, he withdrew a yellowish-looking crystal and placed it on the table in front of Kurui. "This started off as regular trartz, a fairly common mineral in itself, mainly used for jewelry and the like. Over the course of a day, I've been opening gates upon it nearly constantly, soaking it in the 'energy' of the Plane of Lightning. And now... it functions as a "spell bank" of sorts for lightning spells. A bit of focus, and a single spell I store can be released from it in an instant. I can repeat the process for each element, and at some point it should be able to be far more versatile, though the 'capacity' varies based on the size. This is probably only good for one use, despite my efforts. Perhaps more, if I had taken the time. Some enchanters try to pass this off as an extremely rare mineral, or something to that effect, whereas in reality, it has been prepared from everyday materials by their own hands." He allowed the girl to examine it closely.
"But that's what troubles me most about enchanting in general; despite it being relatively old as a profession, it's still very young as an actual science. Many scholars, including myself, still don't count it as a 'true' science even then, as many of the trade's secrets are held by gypsies with even more hiding away in the libraries of foreign lands. Even the most learned of Academy students in your year may not have known about the properties of trartz when exposed to saturation by gate magic. Come your third year, when you handle more job-specific courses, you will learn about the basics from Mrs. Leidenseer. Memory crystals, location beacons, sound crystals and the like--I care not to explain each of these right now, but much of it you'll practice on the job. Even then, many other 'enchanted items' are but cheap tricks, lies that enchanting shop clerks tell you in order to make money. Others, however, have very real effects, and that is what scholars such as myself are most interested in. Now, most traditional enchanters will have you 'infuse' a desired object via several rituals, many of which involve gate magic. This is time-consuming, to say the least."
"Imagine if I were to sell a crystal like the one I showed you each day, spending an entire's day or more on crafting each one. Not particularly productive. But that's the method by which many enchanters use, and the reasons they remain as simple shopkeepers, and nothing more. They're content with the amount of money they make. Like you and I, they ARE mages, but they care nothing of improving their own skills beyond what will keep them alive. That is what sets us apart from them."
Black then set a regular piece of trartz onto the desk. "While there is still much to learn about advanced enchanting, I do know this. The real secret lies in the gates used to saturate them with. That crystal you are holding, I saturated it with normally-sized gates. But what if I were to match the gate with the size of this piece of trartz... to control it with pinpoint accuracy as I showed you before?" Focusing, he placed a finger upon the stone and opened a tiny gate. His hand shook at first, but with added concentration, he began to infuse it with his potent spell, originating from within the crystal's very center.
Several minutes later and its state matched that of the crystal Kurui held in her hands. "Not only does it absorb the enchantment quicker, but the quality is higher; this would hold two charges where one saturated with normal gates would only hold one. Forget producing enough consistently-working supplies for a shop; within months one could own an entire chain! Provided, realistically that would involve more study than what I have done, since it is but a fleeting interest to me. But there is so much more beyond buying and selling. For any truly great mage, profit will come easily enough."
“I'm sorry Rythe... but please, hold it together just a bit longer.”
As Kurui watched the lightning major leave, she wasn't sure if the reaction she saw was a good thing or a bad thing. Rythe definitely wasn't fit for showing up in class and trying to hide what she was feeling in front of Black, how quickly her normally calm demeanor had melted away under recent revelations proved that.... However, Kurui knew all too well the drastic effect breakdowns like this could have on the way someone was able to think. Such things made people... unpredictable. Right now that was bad.
“Don't be a hero, Rythe. No matter how bad you feel, please, don't do something stupid. Don't come back for me, and don't tell anyone else about this... no matter what.”
Part of Kurui's fears proved to be unfounded, as the brunette would not be there when class started and a few minutes after roll was taken seemed to obviously not have any plans of showing up late or anything. Kurui let those fears slip from her mind and focused on more immediate things.
Being the day after Red day, from the start of class most's of the student's spirits seemed higher than usual. For whatever reason this grated on Kurui's nerves intensely. Jealousy that they had been spared everything she went through and was still going through perhaps? A desire shatter their happy little worlds with the hard truths she knew about Black? Maybe.
Worse than the classmates around her though, Black was even more unbearable. His positive mood from today's earlier “session” being outwardly obvious, if only a little, was unsettling just for the sheer strangeness and unexpectedness of it... given his past behavior in front of the rest of the class. Furthermore, even when she averted her eyes, she could still feel the weight of his gaze upon her. The combination of things would make this a looong class. At the very least though, some good did seem to come of it all. Being the day after Red Day and given how distracted Black seemed to be with her and everyone else, it appeared the lecherous instructor took little notice of Rythe's absence... what may have been out of place under other circumstances seemed almost jokingly typical or expected today... or at least unimportant.
Kurui tried to force her way through the day's lesson, but could find no focus. Even if she hadn't been anticipating her plans for after class, she would have still found it hard to think today anyway between the uncomfortable atmosphere in the room and her earlier “lesson” not more than a couple of hours ago. Blacks lecture was all about stuff she knew anyway, although she doubted she could find those things in her mess of a mind right now if Black called on her to answer anything. Instead all that came up when she tried to follow along were the words Julius, one of the traitor escorts from the mine trip 3 days ago.
“She looks to be as smart as she is pretty... kinda makes you want to fuck her 'til she's stupid, doesn't it?”
She shivered a little at the idea that might be why she couldn't focus today, even though she knew it to not be true... probably.
After what felt like far longer than usual few hours a class session took, it finally came to an end, although it wrapped up a little less than uneventfully. Although nothing major happened, a pair of small events would eat away at Kurui painfully. The first was no more than a brief glance from Lafton. Kurui had no spite for Lafton, but out of the corner of her eye she thought she saw Black make some small movement that seemed to broadcast he had seen it and taken notice. Maybe it was just her imagination, but as soon as she was able to turn away without appearing rude, her gaze turned right to Black and her eyes flared with a nervous defensive sort of look as if to say “You didn't see anything. He was just being nice, don't go after everyone to look in my direction! You already probably killed three people from this class already!”
No sooner had she broken her gaze from Black would Celeste, one of Odetta's friends, come over the speak to her. This surprised Kurui some bit, not only did she think Odetta and the rest of her friends kind of hated her, but she was also surprised at how much they all seemed to be hurting over Anisse's disappearance. Somehow she didn't think them possible of having such a bond, someone like Odetta seemed too spoiled and petty to have real friends... being proved wrong about that made Kurui hurt inside for knowing what had happened. She didn't trust herself to speak, and instead offered only a small nod before Celeste left.
“This is so wrong... Anisse was their friend. I shouldn't be hiding this from them... I shouldn't. Maybe it would be better if I told them. Odetta is a noble, she's someone who's family could actually touch Black... No! I have a plan already, I'm not going to ruin it. This has all the same problems asking Lafton for help would have... the more people who know about this the more dangerous it becomes to keep it secret. Besides... it's Odetta... if I tell her what happened she might not take it too well... I might end up pissing her off... or her whole family. I'm not a noble, if they don't take me seriously I could end up in one of the Kingdom dungeons forever without so much as having even made Black sweat. No Kurui. Stick. To. The. Plan... even if it hurts.”
This would be the last interruption before everyone had left and Kurui's after-class “lesson” was to begin.
Alone in the room with Black, Kurui sat quietly until addressed, almost certain this session was going to go as badly as the one earlier in the morning had. The way Black started off by mentioning that same incident made her visibly tense up for a moment. “Wait! He said “tomorrow”. Maybe.... maybe that means I'm OK for now. If I'm OK for now thats all I need, with fate's blessing there won't be a tomor-.”
Before Kurui could finish her thought, Black confirmed it by producing a book for her. Something relevant to her learning. It seemed this session WOULD be about teaching her something useful for awhile.
“Ok, maybe I dodged this arrow. But just because he said this would only be a hour doesn't mean he'll follow through and let me go if I make it that long... for now just pay attention to the lesson.”
Kurui took the book carefully, as respectful of it as she had been of the map her gave her earlier. Even if she hated Black right now, there was no reason to blame the book. There was nothing “wrong” about it or the information inside, it was just something to learn... something that already had her curious and wanting to start reading, dispelling her earlier trouble focusing in an instant, although she held back to keep her attention focused on Black.
Kurui needed no act to fake her attentiveness to Black's lecturing. Enchanting still fascinated her, so much so that Black's rather simplistic ideas of “saturation” almost disappointed her. To have something so mysterious and fascinating explained away so easy ruined some of the appeal... if she actually believed him, though she thought she was only getting part of the bigger picture. However, it would prove to be enough to keep holding her interest, as it was still far more than she knew at present.
Black's display would have Kurui wide-eyed with genuine amazement. What Black made in 2 minutes had been what she paid an enchanter 50 gold for with her elemental ore from earlier. Sure Black's enchantment felt almost “beginner level” simple and only reinforced what he said about saturation, but Kurui chose to believe that these were just basics, and there was nothing to be dissapointed about in just basics. She wasn't about to argue with him right now anyway, as she had with Reius earlier about the subject of spell gates. There was a difference between Reius and the sadist lecturing her right now.
“There's got to be more to real enchanting than this. I saw things at the enchanters shop that wern't just simple element enchantments on crystals that practically soak them up anyway... but Black did say he wasn't too interested in this. Maybe he doesn't actually know much more than this about the subject... maybe he never wanted to pursue it beyond this like I want to...”
As Kurui took the crystals handed to her, she could feel the magic inside of them them. Even if Black wasn't an expert at this, they were still no duds, he knew what he was doing. “I hate that you're such a good teacher when you actually try... I hate it so much, Black...”
Kurui had remained silent much of the time, just listening to the lecture and watching Black's example, but given that this entire lesson had been free of any... less academic impulses, so far, Kurui dared to finally say something, her voice fairly level as she did.
“Your hand was trembling when you did this second crystal. Your gate control was so pinpoint it was as if your body was fighting to keep up... or that the crystal was being resistant to such a rapid change. Does that mean... it's dangerous? What would have happened if you lost control? Would the whole thing have blown up right there inches from your hand?”
Kurui's words were geniune curiosity, but there was another purpose. The quicker she showed she was learning, the quicker this lesson might be over for today. Despite her fascination with the topic, she reminded herself not to get too attached to this learning as the price was too high to keep continuing.
“Make the bastard happy with you so he sends you on your way, Kurui. Learn all you can learn so he sends you off to study or practice on your own.”
“If it's safe... maybe I can sell some of my focus crystals from the mine and buy samples of other cheap minerals like tratz to practice on... although I'd probably need one that soaked up water gates instead of tratz and it's lightning affinity...
Or perhaps I should just keep practicing my gate control and read that book you gave me first. I got better with my gates, I really did... but there's only so much magic someone can use in a day before they burn out, and one night of practice didn't make me anywhere near as good as you were just now. I suspect you only prepared today's lesson because I had asked... or maybe it's because I did a good job this morning...” At this her voice faltered just a little, slight twinges of humiliation slipped in, but it didn't bother her because she knew it probably wouldn't bother Black, and so she continued. “Either way, with this to... look forward to, I think more practice with my gates would be best now.”
She hoped this would be enough to make Black release her for the day, free of any more lustful encounters... it had only been a few hours since her last one and Black seemed to have the self control to not be madly desperate so soon, although she might just be overly hopeful at that. If it did work though, she would make one final request before leaving.
“Sir, may I keep that second you made? Or borrow it? Just to get a feel for how the magic has soaked inside of it? I promise I won't let it distract me from my other studies and practice.”
Although she wouldn't fight too hard if he refused, she did remember how the ore chunk she had in the mine had saved her life once... and maybe a replacement for it would prove just as useful in the near future...
"It's a little of both," explained the professor, wringing the tension out of his hands at the wrist. "Some items, based on their composition, are naturally more resistant to 'saturation', while others conduct fairly easily. It's certainly not as easy as focusing the gates in air, which should come as no surprise given their relative density levels. Now, if I were to lose control over the saturation process that I just demonstrated to you, the crystal itself could shatter, but nothing so dramatic as an explosion, really."
The man spoke matter-of-factly, though he raised a brow upon hearing Kurui's suggestion of practicing upon trartz acquired by selling her own focus crystals. "Oh? While I admire your dedication to learning, there is no need for such measures, as I can bring some to you later on down the road. There are plenty more raw minerals at my manor, in my personal collection. Make sure that you can master pinpoint gate control upon thin air first. Otherwise, going into this method of speed enchanting with half-cultivated skills will just result in many a broken crystal."
"As for the book... well, yes, study it thoroughly. You are quite right in the fact that one can only practice so much magic in a given day before their body fails them. This is why diligence is, above all, the most important aspect of a mage who aims to excel above the rest. The things I teach you here aren't merely overnight lessons--they are to be practiced day after day. When your hand can no longer remain steady, no matter how hard you try, then it is the best time for studying theory, taking notes and the like."
Black managed to explain each of his main points one by one, matching them in time with each of the girl's comments, answering her questions in a clear and concise manner, free from the odd suggestiveness that the morning lecture carried. Unfortunately, he did take a more sly tone when Kurui mentioned the 'job' she had done earlier in the morning, responding as one might expect. "Mm... I suppose you could say that, yes. I'll admit, it was very pleasing, in both senses, to have you submit to cleaning me the way you did. Even my-- I... haven't been that pleased in quite a while. It seems as though you are slowly coming to terms with the nature of our relationship, hmm?"
He placed a hand on her shoulder, running it down to the side of her arm. "And to think we're barely scratching the surface of all the pleasures we'll experience, too. I haven't been excited about such matters in quite some time." Stooping down over her from the side, the dark-haired teacher grinned, his lips lingering ever closer to Kurui's ear. "But I suppose I should let you rest for now, hmm? Heh... after all, there is still tomorrow morning for our next round of leisure."
Slowly, Black rose, generating some much-needed breathing room between the two. "At any rate... oh, this? Heh. You don't plan to use it against me anytime soon, do you?" he asked jokingly, although his sarcasm was relatively difficult to discern from his usual speech. "Given your relative obedience earlier today, I suppose you've earned it." He nodded and pushed it into her hands without further ceremony. It was no surprise that a noble like him would have no shortage of gifts for the girl who would please him sexually.
"Also, take this." Reaching into his jacket pocket, he produced another crystal, roughly the same size, small enough to fit comfortably in Kurui's palm. "This should do well with properly absorbing the Water element. Once you feel that you have the gate control figured out, feel free to try storing a spell of your own within. I don't expect you to be able to do such a thing overnight, though... so don't rush yourself."
Having given her the Lightning-charged trartz, along with the blank piece of crystal, and the book for loan, Black seemed rather generous today, though the reasons why were easy enough for Kurui to guess. "Within the text, you'll find some methods for other kinds of enchantments, although the directions for such processes may or may not be cluttered with the various rituals that tend to be associated with them. Either way, it should be helpful if you so choose to pursue some of those practices in your spare time. Tomorrow, I'll be teaching you some theory regarding practical applications of spellwork." He seemed intentionally vague on this matter, saying no more about it even if Kurui were to ask.
"I'll let you go for today, then. Do be prepared for tomorrow morning, however," commanded the lecturer, apparently satisfied with his student for the day.
“Even my--” Kurui didn't miss this small little slip up from Black. Though he never finished the statement and chances were it shouldn't register with her as anything significant, her brain still pulled it out as something to take notice of... for the entire separate reason of... jealously.
“I know what you were going to say... probably something about your favorite slave or brothel whore or something! Damnit... I don't share. Even if you forced me into this, I don't share!” For a short second, a flash of this emotion even showed on her face, although she said nothing out loud. “Stupid of me, stupid to think someone like HIM would care about things like this. I'm obviously not the first one he's used like this, no... he's too experienced. Stupid I didn't see it before. There's no reason I would be the only one or that he would stick to one at a time.”
The strangeness of it all caught even Kurui herself by surprise. Why the jealousy? A matter of principal? No, all that had gone out the window since the day in the mine when she had begged like a whore to save herself and left everyone else behind. No... jealousy comes when you lose something. What was she losing, these lessons? They were good lessons, but it wasn't that either, they were nowhere worth the price. As Black continued to express a smug satisfaction in her behavior over the past few days, it finally hit her.
“He's a sadist rapist rapist bastard who deserves to die... but through some cruel twist of fate he's probably the only person to ever see so much potential in me and wants to see me become more.... Damnit, if every day could just be like THIS, just the teaching without the humiliation and awareness that he didn't care about throwing away lives... that would have been good. Why did it have to end up this way?”
It was true of course. As much as Kurui didn't want to admit it, he did give her something nobody else ever had. Kurui's own parents, while not heartless or emotionless, had never really pushed her at magic or anything else really. They would say they were proud of her, but never drive her towards anything or even understand it well enough to have their pride mean anything. The same had been true of many at the Academy who had only shown interest in her or complimented her for shallow reasons. Praise from those who didn't understand an achievement meant nothing... but Black understood just fine. It wasn't as if she had any chance to look elsewhere now anyway, Black controlled her world now and had become the one who bestowed on her every luxury and scrap of praise... and kept all others a constant source of worry. A small part of her hated the thought of biting the hand that fed her these things and wanted to think only of the times like right now when things wern't bad.
“Listen to yourself! Listen to what you're thinking in your own head! Good gods Kurui! You'd be brainwashed in a week if you let this keep up! It's not true... none of it. There are others who see value in you. Sienna saw things in me I didn't even know until just days ago, things that wern't shallow and meaningless. Even Lafton too, I don't think he was lying about what he said to me. OK, thats not much... but just because only a few people care doesn't mean I have to turn to someone like Black to... feel like I matter. He doesn't care anyway, I don't matter. He took everything that was “me” and defiled it... he's still doing it, I'm not even human during those times. I'd rather be ignored by the likes of Odetta and her kind than be warped by Black, at least SHE cries for her friends.”
All this came in less than the space of half a minute. It was as if she had spent the last day in a drowsy fog... suddenly awake now before sleep took it's full hold. The effect this was having on her scared her though, the realization that given more time... weeks or months, she very well WOULD have probably started thinking like that and not even realized it... it was only a thin thread of resolve that kept her out of that... but now at least it felt a little thicker and less frayed. “I'll die before I become like that. I'd rather die than become content with it... just like I told Rythe earlier. I'm still here, I'm still me. I'm not lost yet.”
Perhaps Black had made some mistake starting her on this thought process, even if unintentionally, but for all this new found resolve, Kurui was still careful enough not to show any outward signs of it right now. There was still a plan to carry out, and acting was still key. “Let him think everything you thought was happening actually did. It's working so far, especially with these “gifts” I'm getting” As Kurui let the crystals slip out of her hands and into her pack, she found it easy to control the tone of her voice when she answered all that Black had said.
“It's not as if I have much choice but to come to terms with this, do I? My only alternatives seem to be killing myself or trying something against you which is basically the same thing... although I suspect you'd make me watch Sienna suffer before getting to me. I won't be foolish enough to use these crystals on you. I lack the skill to enchant the water one, and you would probably turn anything from the lighting one back on me. It shouldn't be possible to manipulate a hostile spell that strong, but half of what you've shown me the past few days I wouldn't think possible... besides, had I wanted to risk trying to kill you, a fate that would leave me in a royal dungeon for the rest of my life for murdering a noble even if it DID work, I would have just chanted before coming into the room and hoped I could do as much damage to somewhere vital to you as I did to the knee of that delinquent who interrupted my practice yesterday... but I long ago gave up any ideas that I'd have any chance of doing anything to you myself.”
While she wouldn't be super submissive sounding, instead opting for a more matter-of-fact tone, it was still better than the defiance she let slip the past few days. Short of that, the content of what she was actually saying was enough to stroke his ego and keep suspicions at bay... probably. It didn't matter, before she knew it he had dismissed her for the day, no extra humiliations. Fate was being kind for once, now wasn't the time to waste it.
Kurui gathered her things and got up to leave. As always, she felt the pangs of nervousness at turning her back to Black and the expectation that she would get attacked again, but somehow it felt less likely than it did before. Her next stop would be Rythe's, if Fate's blessings held out the lightning major will have collected herself by now. If not... well that would have to be dealt with when she got to that bridge. Get Rythe, get the box of evidence, get Sienna, slip out of the Academy and tell the order of St. Lisle, pray her story was believed, then more praying the others from her mine group were still alive. “Thats still a lot to do... but it won't take long. Everyone please be safe, it's almost over.”
Kurui's internal conflicts came and went, unnoticed by Black in the short span of actual time that they crossed her mind. That, or he didn't care to say anything about it if he did see any telltale changes in her behavior. He did, however, listen intently to the speech that the girl delivered in an oddly calm manner, given its potentially depressing subject matter. "Hah... well, when you put it that way. Ending your own life would be such a waste, even if I must say so myself. Not to mention you'd fail Sienna and your other friends all the same. As for the rest, I can tell you've thought this through more than just once--but I'll at least commend you for thinking that far ahead. It's good you realize your situation, however. Remember this, though. Despite our... 'extra' activities, you are still, in the end, here to learn for the purpose of eventually succeeding me... if you can truly prove yourself able in that regard. You WILL have the skill to enchant that stone, and much more, in all the fields that I have studied. It's only a matter of time until you master them, so long as some degree of progress is made each day. I won't lie; should you prove yourself incapable of doing so, I would definitely be disappointed. But, even then, you'll still have a use, I'd say. Just in one particular matter, instead of two." It wouldn't be difficult for the Water Major to guess what he was implying here, even with the apparent absence of suggestiveness in his voice, which instead relayed the same matter-of-factness that Kurui forced herself to carry in her original response.
Despite his rather long-winded reply, Black chose not to torment Kurui any longer outside of that, dismissing her in short order. Luckily, she wouldn't feel the mind-numbing pain of the more experienced mage's lightning spells upon her back as she left, not after her decidedly less rebellious reactions to his usual discourse earlier. When she exited the building, it almost felt as if a weight was lifted off of her shoulders. The very air around the teacher, filling the classroom itself, was heavy with expectations of how the girl should act; after all, mere verbal disagreement carried with it the threat of physical punishment in the form of shocks. These all led back to one thing; obedience. Whether or not she chose to give into the haze or even really cared to notice this, the differences in the relative pressure of her interactions with the intimidating man compared to those with, well, just about everyone else, were emphasized when she arrived at Rythe's dorm.
The Lightning Major eventually answered her door, with some apprehension, but her expression lightened considerably when she saw Kurui's face. She had recovered by now, even having bothered to make herself presentable again. "Hey... so, everything went well, I'm guessing? Judging from the time, he didn't... uhm..." She stopped herself there, pausing in her realization of what would likely only make the situation awkward. "Either way, this ends today. I'm already ready so, I'm going with you." The brunette retreated back into her room to grab her bag, and after slinging it over her shoulder, nodded at Kurui to signal that she was prepared to leave. "I have the crystal and everything."
If Kurui had no additional protests or suggestions, the two of them would make the trip back to her own room to retrieve the box of evidence. Any apprehension or paranoia that the Water Major might feel in anticipation would be, at the very least, partially dispelled when she found it in the corner, underneath the floorboards, just as she left it. Of course, not having the primary pieces of evidence lost or stolen was just a small detail of the entire operation. From here on out, everything had to go just right. If it didn't--if the recording failed somehow, if Black had known all along and had Sienna taken somehow, or if the last non-corrupt knights in the city refused to help... well, it was a situation best left unpondered.
With that detail secured, they would then head to the Wind Major's dorm. On the way, Rythe took a deep breath before explaining, "So, I... haven't exactly told her yet. I was feeling kinda down, so of course I dropped by to see her after I recovered a little bit, but she wasn't answering her door. There weren't any signs of a struggle in the vicinity or anything though, so I'm guessing she actually went to class today. But according to her class schedule, Sienna should be done for the day as well, so she should be back by now." While the brunette was trying her best to stay calm, Kurui could still feel traces of discomfort in her expression by the time they reached Sienna's door. After a few knocks, a long delay would take place before they heard anything. The sound of a door opening would finally come, but it wasn't the one leading to the Wind Major's room; it was down the hall. The two girls stood there in a bout of uncomfortable silence, broken only by Rythe's occasional insistence to try and knock once again.
"She's... not here..."
Re: Elynsor's Royal Magic Academy (Kat) GMed by Takimaru
Kurui still had questions for Black by the time their session ended. It was hard to read how much he really wanted to teach her and how much he just wanted her around as a fuck-puppet to humiliate. Both seemed simultaneously true, despite the fact that they should cancel eachother out. Their last exchange had ended with a mutual understanding that almost surprised Kurui. Comments how her ending her own life would have been a waste made her once again feel tinges of appreciation she'd rather not have to acknowledge from Black, easy enough when the rest of his speech came off as a threat or taunt. Considering the session DIDN'T end with any humiliation beyond the verbal though, she decided to hold off on any questions burning in her mind before she made things worse on herself. She would duck out of the room and be free of risk without incident today.
Finding Rythe would be an easy matter, as the lightning major would be right there in her room, right where Kurui had hoped she would have stayed today, given her state. In fact the brunette would look to be in an encouragingly much better state now than earlier. Kurui was glad, she wasn't sure if she could explain everything back to a state of being “OK” again if she wasn't, but luckily that wouldn't be an issue and this was a situation that allowed her to speak easier.
“Everything went OK... nothing with Black ever goes well, but he didn't do anything to me this time. I think he just wanted to check on how well I was learning what he tries to teach me... and spend some time saying things to get in my head. It's not important though.”
While Kurui's words may have hinted at some kind of downplay or deception, her tone did not. Instead it indicated she was too worn out by this whole thing to bother lying anymore... besides, she knew Rythe already knew the worst of it anyway, despite her best efforts.
“I'd tell you you don't have to come if you don't want to... but it's dangerous now with what you know now. I'm sorry it can't be helped, but let's go. We'll get my box of stuff, find Sienna, then have her blow us over one of the side gates. Nobody will know we even left, not Black, no monitors he might have on his side, nobody. From there you show us where this Order of St. Lisle is.”
Everything was going according to plan so far. The box was still there, not that she had expected Black to grab it when they had been together the last few hours... although it's possible he could have sent someone else.
“Perfect.”
Kurui would feel something akin to excitement at the way things were going. Paranoia and worry were all but completely gone... but she walked along with Rythe, the lightning major would stoke those fears with news of Sienna's apparent absence today. Kurui did her best to ignore it, but soon they were at her door, and as the moments passed with no answer, dread would begin to stir in Kurui's stomach.
“No... nothing happened. I was with Black the whole time, he never once disappeared from my sight. There's no way he could have done anything... unless he got to her before I even woke up today... or had someone else get to her while he was busy with class earlier. No... it's not that, it can't be that. Sienna is trusting, but she wouldn't go off with someone she didn't know, and if it was Black himself that would have caused too much stir, girls around the dorms would wonder why he was there. The delinquents from earlier? No... there's no way they'd try anything after last night. Erion help me if they did I'm going break all of their legs like with the asshole water major!” Rythe of course would have no idea what happened between Kurui and the delinquents, but it didn't matter, she was thinking out loud to herself more than talking to the brunette. “I'll do worse to Black if it was him... I don't even care if it gets me killed, if I fail it will leave a mess for him to clean up and ruin him here, if I succeed I can only hope his soul becomes Tzern's fucking chew toy!”
There was clear fury in Kurui's voice, but she took a few deep breaths and calmed herself now, bringing herself back to a state where she could address Rythe again.
“No, I'm getting worked up for nothing. Sienna isn't like me, she's friendly, she talks to people, she doesn't sit around and get lost in a book for hours. She's probably around somewhere enjoying herself. Comeon, lets take a quick look before we freak out. Celeste from Odetta's group wanted me to spend some time with them earlier because of how bad Odetta was taking Anisse disappearing. They might have some idea of where Sienna was.... or maybe we can try to find Ciley, Sienna was pretty friendly with her a few days ago, it would be in her nature to help someone new like that get adjusted... just give me a second and we'll have a quick look.”
Kurui had some quick preparations to make, she didn't like having her box of evidence out in the open like this and headed back to her room to hide it again, but paranoia had been stirred now, she took out her pen and the note explaining everything and folded them into her waist satchel. They were small enough to be concealable, now she didn't have to carry the box around in the open and the box itself would have nothing betraying in it other than maybe the oddity of dried goblin's blood. Nothing that would prove she planned to use it against Black, if somehow he did find it hidden away there. As she stuffed the pen and explanation away, her hand brushed by the crystal Black had given her and she pulled it out.
“Rythe, remember that ore I bought at the enchanters shop? Black gave me this earlier as part of a lesson earlier. It's kind of the same, but it only works with lightning. I'm terrible with lightning, compared to water it seems to just jump and arc wherever it wants, I can barely control it well enough to get by on the Live Casting tests... the ore I had from the enchanter's shop saved my life but I lost it in the mine, would you take a moment to put a spell in this chunk of crystal so I have something like that again? This crystal he enchanted himself and gave me to study, he gave me one for water too... but I don't know what he's taught me well enough to enchant it the way he did, so this one is all I have to work with... I'm not sure how good lightning will be if I ever have to use it on Black, but it does a hell of a job on lots of other things...”
Despite the obvious traces of shock in her expression, Rythe's natural tendencies to attempt to stay calm kicked in, and her gaze shifted from the door to Kurui as if to seek confirmation from the other girl. "R-Right... you're right. Couldn't have been abducted--we're just worrying too much, right? I mean, she always likes to go out and do things, anyway, since I don't imagine she spends all day inside cleaning her room right after class... or something like that. Besides, it's not like he actually has Academy girls under his employ or anything, or at least, I'd find that somewhat hard to believe."
Her look shifted to one of curiosity when Kurui mentioned the delinquent Water Major, but she didn't dig. Taking another deep breath, the brunette frowned upon hearing even a single mention of Odetta's name. "Really? I just don't see them keeping track of someone like her, to be honest, since she's not even in our class. But she could be around with Ciley, maybe. I think she might be in class right now, but we can see if she's getting out or something."
She looked about ready to set off, but stopped when she saw the crystal Kurui pulled out from her bag. Raising a brow, she looked it over, then nodded. "Well, of course I could do that for you, but... this just looks kind of like a common crystal. Did he give you a demonstration himself? Sorry, I just can't help but feel a little weary about him now, and I wonder why he'd be so generous with someone he treats... the way he does," she muttered, intentionally skipping over the details of the more intimate aspect of the relationship. "It's not even like he has you on a real tight leash--which I'm real thankful for, mind you, but someone like him seems a little more like the strict type. Anyway, I'm probably just overthinking it all, or being paranoid... let's see."
Her eyes took a steely focus upon the stone as she grasped it in both hands, mumbling a familiar incantation under her breath, and within moments the charge moved from her fingertips to the crystal's core. The spell itself was visible, yellowish, and the piece of trartz bore a faint glow. "...There it is. Wow, I'm a little surprised to see it worked. But if he trusted you this much with something like this, especially after all he's done, then he's going to pay for it." Rythe handed the crystal back to Kurui, and the two left the building in short order.
By the time they stepped outside, it would be mid-afternoon, and the Lightning Major wasted no time in leading her friend to the building where Ciley was having classes. The brash redhead from Rydale supposedly had some special after-school focus studies, those meant for 'special' students, but that wouldn't stop the two from checking up on her for the sake of finding Sienna.
After a lengthy climb up one of the Academy spires, they would find her in a classroom with only about five others, and a short, balding professor conducting a rather dull-looking lecture. Rythe waved to her from the cracked-open door, and Ciley, whose eyes seemed to wander anywhere but the direction of the chalkboard, soon spotted the Lightning Major. She wasted no time in getting up and meeting the other two out in the hallway, much to the instructor's chagrin, but the man's weak attempts to protest against her sudden departure would go ignored.
"Oh, hey! Damn, didn' expect ta see you tooh 'round deese parts... dat was boring as hell. Soh what's de occasion, eh?"
"Hello, Ciley. Well, we've been looking for Sienna and was just wondering if you had any plans to meet up with her today, or anything of the sort..."
Ciley scratched her head, her brow furrowing. "Uh... well, not tahday, no. Why, she missin'? Don't tell me dose arseholes from before tried sum'in'!"
"I really don't think it was them, since they haven't really bothered us since that last meeting. It's, um..." She glanced to Kurui momentarily, as if to ponder whether or not telling Ciley about the situation would be a good idea. After all, anyone who ultimately knew of it was liable to get caught up in it all, but that was provided Black knew.
"If it is, ye know where ta foind me--oi can help ye out wid 'em. Oi grew up fightin' wid tree brudders who err actually REAL men. Dere's no whey oi'm gunna back down from ah buncha spoiled-bitch mage boys in dis Academy!"
Her exclamations finally caused the professor to step out of the classroom and make a meager attempt to persuade her back inside. "P-Please, Miss Ciley, your volume is keeping the others from learning. Won't you come back inside and resume your studies? We'll be finished in an hour..."
The redhead gave him a flat look and sighed, then turned back to the other two. "Bleh. Well, keep me updated, alroight? Oi haven't seen her in about a day or soh. Dat's all oi got."
It seemed Sienna wasn't with Ciley, nor did the latter even know where the free-spirited Wind Major might be. From there, they could attempt to contact Odetta and Celeste, or move on ahead to the Order of Saint Lisle.
“I didn't really expect Sienna to be hanging out with them either...” Kurui answered Rythe in reference to Odetta's group. “Just... they're the kind of girls who sit around and gossip all the time. If anything had happened to anyone... maybe they will have heard something. Nevermind, it was a stupid idea. If Odetta even bothered to talk to us in the first place, she would probably keep us around all day and get pissy when we tried to leave. Anyway, yeah, lets go find Ciley, thats a better idea.”
The pair would pause for a moment before setting out as Kurui gave Rythe a few seconds to charge a spell into the Trartz crystal Black had given her. This would bring the conversation back to the topic of Black as they left, but Kurui didn't have anything to hide at this point so as long as nobody else was around to overhear, she didn't mind.
“Thanks Rythe. It helps me stay calm to have something like this. I don't exactly plan to use it against Black... but in the last few days I've been attacked by everything from other students to void goblins to soldiers... even if I rush a dangerous amount, it still takes a second or two to cast, and that's bitten me a few times already. It almost bit me again last night, I was practicing spells and three of those deliquents from earlier attacked me... but Black showed me a way to use weaker, faster, spells in a way that focuses them enough to be dangerous. It was enough that it saved me and probably ruined one of the guy's legs forever... but it was still close. I didn't mean to do it, and it's probably good that the rest of them wont even think to do anything to us now... but... … nevermind...
Black's “generosity” saved me... but he doesn't do it to be “nice”. Not at all. He knows he could shock me until I'm crying and begging for him to stop and promising to do anything... but in a strange way I don't think that means much to him. He would rather see me play along with him “willingly... pretend he's not blackmailing or threatening me with Sienna...
...Or maybe he just doesn't want to “waste” me. Short leash or not, what he's showing me is child's-play to him, no threat at all. If he tightened the leash though... well, even as I am now, you saw what I did to my mirror the other day. I'm a possession to him, if you take good care of your possessions you don't drive them to do anything too self destructive too often... he said he wanted me as a “successor”, maybe he just wants me as a fuck-puppet. Either way it's in his interest to string me along and invest in me. Anything he gives me is for his own future benefit though, not mine... I'm completely certain of this. It's also part of why I don't think he did anything to Sienna yet.”
Kurui's tone was depressing most of the conversation, but the pair found there way to where Ciley was taking her extra lesson relatively quickly. For a moment Kurui wondered how Rythe knew where to go and if Rythe had been doing some snooping in her free time as she expressed interest in doing days ago. It didn't matter though, it wasn't important, only any information she could get about Sienna would be important. Luckily for Kurui, when they did find Ciley, Rythe would be quick to do most of the talking. This was fine, Kurui didn't trust herself to speak or be able to hide the miserable tones in her voice for any long period. She didn't even really know Ciley all that well anyway so any conversation with her was awkward on it's own. This feeling only intensified when her short, and rather crass exchange lead to no useful useful information, but still she managed a quick bit before before Ciley got pulled back to class.
“Thanks Ciley. If you see her around at all, just tell her I need to talk to her about something and she should find me as soon as possible.”
With this she turned and left, pulling Rythe along with her and keeping silent until they were a good ways away.
“This is bad... it shouldnt be bad... but my gut is telling me it is, it's screaming so at me!”
NOW panic would start to crack in Kurui's voice.
"I... I don't know what to do. What if I was wrong, what Black did take Sienna... leaving now could kill her. But if he doesn't and she comes back... what if Black notices me gone and gets to her before I can get back. Damn it... DAMN IT!
...I don't know what to do. I need... I need to think...”
Without even fully realizing it, Kurui was back on her way to her room, dragging Rythe along and seemingly forgetting all about any of her other plans to talk to Celeste and Odetta. This wasn't how it was supposed to be, she had no idea what to do now... but for now her intention to think it over, or at least get somewhere she could calm herself down, was true. Though nowhere was really “safe” anymore, her room was the closest thing she had to a haven at the moment.
"Wait, wait just a second," replied Rythe. Though a high degree of tension could also be felt about her, she was was also trying, as usual, to keep herself calm. "Okay, so Ciley doesn't know where she is, but it's not as if her being taken is a for-sure thing. I mean, Sienna probably has a couple of other friends too, and she could be out with any one of them... right? Uhm... hmm," she pondered aloud, looking off into space for some sort of inspiration.
"Just... hang on a second, alright? I mean, how would he be onto you anyway? He didn't see anything, did he? It wouldn't make any sense for him to just let you go and then grab Sienna for some kind of grand unveiling later. He can't be THAT dramatic, or at least he doesn't strike me as the type." The brunette took a deep breath before rethinking her approach to the issue.
However, when she did manage to come up with a different angle, the Lightning Major's expression turned somewhat grim, her eyes casting downwards to the floor. "Alright... let's uh, let's just say he... does have Sienna. For whatever reason. It's not like we can go and try to stop or confront him. He'll probably find a way to get us, too, and only Erion knows what he'd do. And everything you worked for will go to even more of a waste. I mean, we have all of the evidence we need to get him done in for good, right here! We should go on ahead to the Order of Saint Lisle and just try to get them to stop him as soon as possible. Because, what CAN we do otherwise? We could keep looking for her and not find her before nighttime, especially if she's out somewhere, or hanging out in someone's dorm... if we just wait, it'll be morning before we know it, and you might... you might have to..." Her face shifted into that of a grimace, and she turned her head to the side. "Do things for him again. Ugh..."
The other girl's emotions started to seep out through cracks in her voice, but she managed to go on, regardless. "Kurui... just think about yourself, for once. I mean, we have everything we need to put him away as soon as possible. If we can't find her now, then we can worry about that when we get back. It's just that you've already done so much for Sienna's sake. More than I would ever do. I honestly never thought you were capable of that type of kindness when I first met you--no offense, of course. Why was it you who had to go through all of that in the caves, only to end up in that awful deal with Black, and still get confronted by those delinquents by yourself? It just doesn't seem fair in any way... I'm Sienna's friend too, and I want to keep her safe as much as anyone, and yet I feel like you're the one who has suffered all this time. I-It was hard enough for me just hearing it, from the outside. I just can't accept the thought of him waving that threat of something happening to her over your head when all these things ALREADY keep happening to you! He'll use it as an excuse to do whatever he wants! Kurui, let's just go, to the Order. We'll figure the deal with Sienna out later--it's not like Black's going to run off anywhere if you're that important to him. Please?"
