ACT Echidna Wars

Re: Echidna Wars

I feel like the screens are too small, there's no maneuverability.

Agreed, this damn thing frustrates me to no end. It wouldn't be so bad if the enemies couldn't move so fast or soaked up so much damage. There's almost nothing you can do in some situations, which is not fun. It's made more annoying when red health characters (and they get there fast) can't actually do anything until they're healed, and that's not exactly a simple process.

Re: Echidna Wars

I cant believe anyone is finding the game so hard to be honest.

I can because holy fuck it's hard. Milia Wars works because there's much more room to move around (although I do have some issues with it, like turning being needlessly slow). Here, you get on the next screen and suddenly you have to react incredibly fast to not get captured.

Is there some sort of experience system I'm missing? Because if I have to get to a point where I can actually do damage only by grinding, I'm going to be very annoyed.

I hear that powerups drop sometimes when enemies die, so if it gets too difficult I suppose you can kill slimes at an easy spot over and over for powerups. They stack up to three

I didn't find it too difficult between the rapidfire sachiko and the long distance + evasiveness of millia. Although if you try to rush its gonna shut you down

Re: Echidna Wars

This should be the type of game where moving fast is part of the fun.

Bleh, just not for me.

Re: Echidna Wars

The deal I have is thaThe deal I have is that enemies can usually see and approach you longer than your actual firing range, on top of the fact they will rush you anyway after a single hit. And actually having them in a way that you can immediately start firing out them while outside of their range is rare, as the ground is jagged, so you're often jumping and then they're after you before you hit the ground. Or their under you, which I still have no idea how you're supposed to hit them. I've tried to jump OVER them, but they seem to anticipate that and I've rarely been able to get a perfect jump over the lamia, which I don't think much matters anyway, considering how much faster she moves. And because they move so fast and the screen is so small, you don't really have much opportunity to hit them and then back up and hit them again, as you have nowhere to go, and they're much faster, which is usually outside the norm in these types of games for this very reason. I don't think I've gotten past many a lamia without getting hit. Not to mention the fact if you ever find a place to backup to, this works on the megaman rules of spawning enemies, so the ones you just drew out to kill are back again the second you continue.

I finished all the stages, it's not impossible, and the constant continues make it easy, but that's supplemental to the gameplay.

*Edit* It seems level 1-3 is just really easy to me for some reason though. I've just been powerleveling my characters, after I realized you lose ALL your levels on one character when they die.

For such proficient games-designers, it's amazing really how many levels this falls short on. Gameplay, visuals, balancing, h-content, vore/ryona content, no one element of it feels up to scratch, even though they clearly have bags and bags of talent.

Would make a lot more sense if it was intended for mobile gaming or something, at least that might excuse the tiny, stingy nature of the screen.

That's sort of true. HP power-ups can be dropped time to time with the lamias. The attack power-ups are only found within the stage for a one time use until you redo the level again. I'm not sure if the HP drops can come from any other enemy, but I know they come from the lamias for sure.

Proficient? I loved Milia Wars but that was because it had good h and vore/ryona content NOT because the gameplay, visuals or balance were any good.

The game is pretty forgiving, just not in the modern sense. Being able to switch out characters on the fly and rescue them is an old fashioned, well established, forgiving gameplay mechanic.

Re: Echidna Wars

Nintendo is a profitable company for the most part, so they can afford to get their lawyers involved into stuff like that because they can. Companies like Square-Enix however that are already losing money hand over foot could never possibly waste the resources to hunt down some porn company. Square is probably trying to figure out how they can go bankrupt by making another awful Final Fantasy game. Though I will admit that I did enjoy myself last night at the Nintendo World launch party for the new Kingdom Hearts game.

Okay, I'm not sure how this subject got brought up here, but let's make one thing clear: neither Nintendo nor Square Enix have anything to do with this game. If you want to talk about that, then great, but this thread isn't the place. Please keep the discussion relevant to Echidna Wars.

Speaking of which, it's kind of sad that the pace of updates seems to have dropped. But maybe that means the next stage will have something surprising.

Re: Echidna Wars

Almost everything in the game so far was already done way back in the first release. Updates were fast because adding the new levels was literally just a case of deciding where to put things.

All the unused stuff has now been implemented, so new content has to be done from scratch.
I'd expect long gaps in between significant updates now. The alternative is a game that recycles material to the point of tedium.

If its well recycled, theres nothing wrong with recycling to the point of tedium. (See: Any major franchise in any industry)

Yeah, no.

COD is going to end up being retired for a few years after a few more games. It happened with Guitar Hero, it happened with Tony Hawk. People do get tired of recycling the same thing over and over, it just takes time.

You do know the game is barely even started, right? It's in some kind of proto-beta stage right now...

I mean come on.

If it's such an early alpha that there is nothing beyond the basic concept that has any relation to the final game at all, then it has no business being put online anywhere.

I'm not convinced that's what this is.

Re: Echidna Wars

Hang on, gotta go tell that game developer to stop doing whatever he wants with his game.

That's not a good defense for a flawed product. No one is above criticism. If they just slowed down the enemies and made the lamia's a tad weaker, it would be great. As is, just frustrating.

Frustrating? Really?

I can't understand you, I'm quite fond of this Game and sometimes I try to kill 0 Enemies before I reach the Goal. In my Opinion, this Game is still way to easy. Did you ever play the original Game, Militia Wars? THATS Frustrating. Killing the Endboss without Cheatengine is close to impossible.

I mean, you can easily hover over your Enemies. Thats like 70% of the entire Game! The other 30% can be easily killed with the Wolfgirl, just smash your Buttons.

If you cant believe me, I will record myself. Yep, not killing any Enemie that can be avoided.
