Sylph smiled back to Winter at her words, looking as if what Winter said had made her happy to hear. "Just so you know there is more than one mistress in this place Winter, and were you trying to get to this potion? Because I'm not supposed to let anyone try to take it without trying to stop them. That's what my mistress told me to do and I can't say no to her cause she's really nice," Sylph replied to Winter, starting to look serious for some reason.

“Then I won't try to take it without permission... after all, your the first person I've met here who's first instinct wasn't to try and jump me.” Winter gave Slyph a placating gesture. “But I didn't realize there were more than one mistress of this dungeon. You say yours is nice? Who is she and what's she like?”

"Well there's mistress Rose, she's an evil demoness that enjoys torturing those she captures. Then there's mistress Daisy, she's not really evil at all, just extremely horny all the time, but then again she is a succubus. And then there's mistress Lily, I don't know that much about her really other than that she's a really powerful magic user of some sort, but I don't know what race she is honestly. And my mistress is lady Hazel, she's a really nice person even though she's a succubus, and she's always fighting with her evil Rose because she doesn't like hurting people unless she has to. Other than that though, I don't really know how many more mistresses there are in this place, but mistress Hazel would know more if you wanted to speak with her," Sylph explained to Winter how many mistresses there were in this place.

"About the ones that have attacked you though. Well..." Sylph began saying, looking slightly concerned about something, then after a moment or two she continued, "There aren't supposed to be any others on this floor other than me and the tentacle tree a few rooms over. But you said others, so who or what else did you run into?"

Winter flinched slightly as a memory of the encounter with the Lesser Succubus flashed before her eyes. Taking a breath to calm herself, she tried to reinstate a calm expression to her face before speaking.

“Mistress Rose sent one of her servants to ambush me after I was locked in here.” Winter stated, trying not to let a tinge of regret color her voice.

"R-Really, but mistress Rose isn't supposed to have anyone on this floor, this floor is supposed to be under mistress Hazel's domain. I must tell mistress Hazel about this," Sylph said in a worried tone, with an equally worried look on her slimy blue face.

A moment later Sylph puled her whole form out of the pool, leaving it completely empty. She paced back and forth for a few moments before she let out a sigh, then she looked back to Winter a moment after that.

"W-Winter, I must go tell mistress Hazel about one of mistress Rose's servants being here, but I'm not supposed to leave here unless I'm either told to by mistress Hazel, or unless the potion is taken by someone. But I cant just let you have it though, I have to fight you. But I won't hurt you I promise, and all you have to do to win is simply move the potion from the pedestal before I beat you," Sylph said to Winter, seemingly trying to use a loophole in her orders. She waited patiently for Winter's answer after that, giving the tall human girl a hopeful look as she waited.

“This dungeon is divided up among the mistresses?” Winter paused to consider this. Perhaps it was to her benefit that she didn't kill the tentacle tree earlier. Especially since this Mistress Hazel seemed like someone she could try to gain the favor of.

She paused to listen to Slyph's suggestion of how to proceed next before speaking again. “You promise not to hurt me? Alright, I promise I won't try to hurt you either. I just have to grab the potion, right?”

Winter paused to make sure Slyph had heard her. Then, without any warning, she made a mad dash toward the potion with the intent of getting to it before Slyph was even ready to give chase.

Winter - 5 vs 13 Sylph, fails to get to the potion pedestal.
Sylph - 11 vs 13 Winter, fails to grapple, giving Winter another chance.

Sylph listened to Winter and after she finished speaking she nodded and opened her mouth to speak as Winter attempted to dart past her. Sylph was quick though and attempted to stop her, stretching out a few slimy tendrils to grab Winter's ankles and trip her down and stop her from getting to the potion.

While Sylph wasn't able to grab Winter, she was able to prevent her from jumping across the now empty pool by sending a few of her slimy tendrils in front of the tall human girl and forcing her back away from the pedestal.

"I forgot to tell you I wouldn't make it easy though Winter," Sylph said to the tall human girl, slowly walking over and standing between Winter and the pedestal.

“It's your job after all.” Winter smiled, as she kept her distance from the grasping tendrils. “But you can't blame me for trying to do this the easy way.”

Winter paused as she considered the slime girl. Knowing she didn't have the element of surprise anymore she considered her friendly foe, she took a moment to present her spear to her opponent in a salute. She then lowered it to the ground and stepped away from it.

Winter paused to meet Slyph's eyes before attempting another rush for the pedestal.

Winter - 6 vs 1 Sylph, rushed past and jumped across to the pedestal to grab the potion.

Sylph waited for Winter to attempt her next move, watching her carefully and eying her suspiciously as she lowered her spear to the ground. Sylph looked confused by this and stared back into Winter's eyes with a dumfounded look on her face.

"W-Winter, what are you doing? Are you giv... Hey," Sylph began saying, cutting off midsentence to try and move to block Winter.

The tall human girl had a good running start and once she made it to the pool, she easily jumped over it and landed on the small section of floor the pedestal was on, where she easily swiped the potion from it's place.

"I didn't expect you to get it that quickly Winter. You're really fast, and you must be pretty strong too to be able to fight off one of mistress Rose's servants," Sylph said to Winter after she grabbed the potion, looking at her with amazement and awe, as if she was looking at a great hero or something.

(Winter has gained a brown potion.)

“Thanks... “ Winter gasped a moment, before quickly catching her breath from her new perch. “I had no intention of using my spear so it was just extra weight... I must admit though that most of my fights so far haven't been gone as well as they may seemed.”

“Now that this is done with, should we inform Mistress Hazel of the situation?” Winter paused in thought before taking a look at the potion in her hand and giving it an experimental swish. “And... do you mind if I...?”

"I hadn't thought of that really, about your spear I mean. And yes we should get going soon so I can inform mistress Hazel of what's happened, that mistress Rose has invaded her domain, and go ahead and drink it if you want, you did win it fair and square after all," Sylph said to Winter, gesturing to Winter to follow her before she did so though.

Sylph would lead her over to a rather large set of steps that led further down into this place, but awaited Winter's decision about the potion first. While she waited for Winter to drink her potion or not, Sylph would explain a little further about her own mistress, "The reason it's so bad that one of mistress Rose's servants was here is because mistress Hazel has the top domain here in this place, and keeps the ones like Rose from getting out and into the world when she can. But if she's got servants this far up then something bad must have happened. I hope mistress Hazel is alright. After she got done speaking, Winter would see that Sylph looked quite worried.

“Well, don't mind if I do.” Winter quaffed the potion and then briefly waited to see if it did anything before she took up her spear once more and followed Slyph to the set of stairs she hadn't seen before.

“I hope so, too.” Winter replied to Slyph's worries. “But she's managed to keep this place bottled up, right? She's clearly powerful enough that casual attacks would be easily repulsed.”

(The Brown potion was a potion of speed, which gives the drinker +2 to evade and attack for 1d4 battles. The drinker won't know when it'll run out until it does so.)


When Winter had downed the potion, she would feel herself suddenly start to speed up a little, she felt like she could run all the way back to the entrance and back in less than a minute. Sylph watched Winter down the potion and continued talking after Winter finished the potion.

"Well mistress Hazel is very powerful, and she's very beautiful too, and nice. But it's rare that anyone gets by her and her guards that easily without being stopped, especially this far up. What was it that attacked you exactly Winter?" Sylph said as they started down the steps.

Winter paused as she could feel the potion run through her body. It felt like her body was as light of air and her movements were less hindered. Almost like she had just taken off ankle weights that she'd forgotten she was wearing.

“It was a succubus.” Winter began, trying not to remember a pair of dead eyes as she followed Slyph. “She spoke as if Rose held sole dominion over this place.”

"A succubus? Something bad had to have happened then for a succubus to have made it all the way up here without mistress Hazel stopping her. Only mistress Hazel's succubi servants are supposed to come this far up. I hope you killed her miss Winter, that succubus I mean. Most if not all of Rose's succubi are pure evil and if she had captured you she probably would've sexually tortured you until she broke you and made you her own servant," Sylph said as they continued down the steps.

A minute or so later they got down to the bottom of the steps, which opened up into a rather large room. This room had two doors in it, one to the east, and the other to the south. Winter would also see a book laying on the floor beside the foot of the steps, but once she looked at it she would see she couldn't understand the language it was written in, as she didn't know the language in question, but maybe someone else would.

"We should hurry, mistress Hazel's actual palace is another couple of floors down, and if they're under attack then we can't afford to waste time, but... I don't exactly remember the way cause it's been so long since I last came through here. All I remember is that the entrance has mistress Hazel's seal on it," Sylph said to Winter, standing there in the center of the room looking from one door to the other as if debating which to take.

If Winter looked closely at the book she'd found, she would see a seal on the spine of it, and also upon closer inspection she would see that the book looked quite old yet didn't look damaged or anything. This indicated that whoever it had belonged to must have recently dropped it.

“I... I did.” Winter didn't sound very pleased with what was nominally a victory. “She... probably would've done those things to me...”

As they reached the bottom of the stair case, Winter took a moment so scan the room and quickly identified the exits. She listened to Slyph explain what she remembered of the way down as she leafed through the book. She had no idea what it said but the seal on the spine looked promising. She caught Slyph's attention and drew it to the seal on the book. “Is this her seal?”

Sylph looked at the book in Winter's hands and inspected the seal on the spine of it closely for a moment. "Yeah, it certainly looks like it at least, but I'm not sure why it was here. It looks to me like a spellbook of some sort to me. We should take it with us, maybe we could find the person it belonged to or someone else to give it to, or maye find someone who could identify it for us," Sylph said to Winter, then she looked back to both directions that they could choose to go and looked back to Winter with a look of growing concern.

"Winter, which way should we go?" Sylph asked, pointing from one door to the other. Down the south door they could see the door at the end of it closed though it was brightly lit with torches and candles all along the corridor towards it. While the eastern door looked long and dark, almost as if there was no end in sight down it.

“A spell book? Interesting...” Winter examined it, as well as committing the seal to memory before she placed it in her pack. She paused to consider the options presented to her. The southern door seemed the safest with it brightly lit while the eastern door was hazardous without the added possibility of being ambushed.

An idea occurred to Winter at that moment. If the book had been dropped recently, then they could have heard the two of them coming down the stairs and fled. The easiest place to hide here would be the dark path.

“Let's try heading down the eastern path... if someone was here they would've fled that way.” Winter stated before walking over to one of the lit torches and giving it an experimental tug. If it came loose she would have a way of lighting her path but if not she would have to do without. She had but taken a step toward that path when another thought occurred to her. “If we encounter any of Mistress Hazel's servants, can you talk to them? I'd rather not have to fight them if I can help it.”

"You're probably right Winter about going down the eastern path, and yes I can keep them from attacking you, all of mistress Hazel's servants can usually tell each other apart from the other mistresses servants, and we also have keywords and phrases to challenge and answer with so we'll know each other as well. Though if we run into any of mistress Hazel's succubi, lust daemon, or a few other kinds of her servants, then they'll likely ask to have sex with you and they'll probably try and charm you into it too. But don't worry, they won't mean any harm by it," Sylph replied to Winter's query, telling her a bit about what Hazel's servants were like.

Once Winter had pulled one of the torches from the wall, which though they weren't permanently attached, they were a bit old and rusted, so it took Winter a few tugs on one to get it loose. The torches seemed to be magical in that they never died down either, but carrying it herself would likely make it tough for Winter to fight, what with her wielding a spear and all. Sylph offered to carry it for her, saying that she could manage it and still fight at the same time if need be.

They traveled down the eastern path with the torch light shining their way until they got to the end of the corridor. There they saw a closed door, which happened to be locked after Winter tried it.

"Hang on, I can unlock this thing real easy, just give me a second," Sylph said to Winter. The slime girl brought up a small thin tendril to the keyhole on the door and slipped it inside, where she moved it about for a couple of seconds before they heard an audible click that indicated the door unlocking. Sylph gave Winter a little grin and blushed a little as if she'd done something bad, "That is one of the things mistress Hazel showed me I could do, but she told me to never do it unless I had to," she said.

On the other side of the door they heard nothing that sounded like a person, but that didn't mean there wasn't someone lying in wait for them of course. Winter could go ahead and open the door now, or they could go back and check the other path if she wanted to.

“That should be fine... I think.” Winter could feel a blush warming her cheeks. “They won't be trying any of that mind break stuff after all.”

Winter tried not to comment on the everlasting torch she had successfully wrenched from the wall. Least of all because of the Slime Girl currently using it to light their path. Soon, the endless path revealed it was anything but as a door entered their view.

“Locked.” Winter declared as she gingerly tried the handle. She was about to try forcing it when Slyph volunteered her skills in lock picking. Unbidden, an idle thought focused on what that level of dexterity would mean in other contexts. “No such thing as a useless skill after all.”

Winter paused to consider the door and tried looking for any sign that the other side was as dark as this one was. If she couldn't, she would crack open the door to get a better peek inside. If she could tell the other side was dark, then she would take advantage of the fact that their eyes were adjusted to the torch light by tossing the torch in first. This could temporarily blind someone waiting in the dark for them and allow her a slightly safer entrance.
