Re: Steel Sky (Adelle/Mind Flayer)

"I'm not allowed to give that kind of information out to randoms like you. The grand priest is our leader, giving away his whereabouts is unthinkable. As for Eda, she'll be here tomorrow at least, I'm not sure if even earlier. That lady outranks me, and I do not know what she is going to spend the rest of the day on, I am just one who looks after this particular place. It is evening by now, so I would not count on her coming back today though."

"Fine then, you better pray that she comes back and I get that gun back, or digits are gonna be lost, especially after what you did to me earlier," Was all Adelle said in response to his words before stepping back and looking over at Mei and the other girl. "So... what do we do now? I want my damn gun back, but if that cunt isn't here, then there isn't a whole lot I can really do about it," Adelle asked Mei and her other rescuer in a soft tone, keeping her gun trained on the doctor.

Re: Steel Sky (Adelle/Mind Flayer)

"Well, we were not sent here to rescue your gun, just to get you out of here alive. It would be preferable if we left sooner than later, there might be more of them coming, and they might not take kindly to us being here. Even with the skill between the two of us, it could get very messy if we come up against massed automatic firepower. Mei stated their mission and what was probably both her and the other fighter's opinion about remaining there.

Re: Steel Sky (Adelle/Mind Flayer)

Adelle growled as Mei spoke, not wanting to leave her gun behind, because Isabelle had made that for her, and it pained her to leave something a good friend had made for her. "Fucking dammit. No you weren't sent to rescue my gun, but dammit I don't want to leave that gun, it means a lot to me," Adelle said back to Mei. "But... dammit you're right, let's go. Knock him back out for me real quick," Adelle added to Mei with a sigh, figuring she'd have to go to Isabelle after reporting in to Samson and telling him all that happened.

When Mei or the other girl either one knocked the doctor out, Adelle took the machine with the lube in it and opened the valve up so that the lube would leak out all around the room and prevent him from getting up easily. It was the very least she could do to get back at him for what he'd done. Aside from that, she would smash the electronics that ran the machines to prevent them from being used again without repair.

After that, she would head out with Mei and the other girl, with an obviously very angry look on her face about leaving one of her guns behind. Once outside, Adelle would follow Mei and the other girl back to the bar, where she'd inform Samson of everything that happened in as great a detail as possible, minus the parts about her "torture" by the doctor.

Re: Steel Sky (Adelle/Mind Flayer)

Giving a sigh and a shrug, Mei turned to the doctor. "You heard her. Goodnight." she told the doc before slamming him back to the ground again, taking a look at him and noticing that she had done the deed with the throw alone and thus did not need to smack him again. The two rescuers watched Adelle wreck the things in the dungeon, their looks suggesting that they did not fully agree with what she was doing, but they did not try to stop her or say anything about it.

They could not leave the place quite then though, finding that there was someone waiting for them upstairs. It was another man in the church garb, an older guy probably approaching 60 in years by quick estimate, yet he was still standing straight and matched Adelle in height easily. He was bald, but had a bushy goatee and almost equally thick eyebrows. The many scars and the creases of age on his bald head and face suggested that he had been through some heavy shit, yet he appeared to have no weapons on him. What was even more bizarre than his appearance there was the fact that he had apparently set up a tea time on the altar. "Would you people stop and have a talk with an old man before you go? I'd really appreciate it." he asked the trio as a whole, his voice deep and full of authority.

Re: Steel Sky (Adelle/Mind Flayer)

As she did her work on some of the equipment, Adelle noticed that the girls seemed to not like the fact she was doing it. She gave them both a slightly incredulous look at that. "What? You saw all the blood on these things, and what he'd done to me. I should kill him for it, but I'm not gonna kill a defenseless man in cold blood. He's lucky I'm so nice," Adelle told them.

With that, Adelle headed upstairs with the others and kept a close eye out for any foes. When they entered the main altar room again, Adelle noticed the old man and started to reach for her pistols, but she stopped short when she saw he was unarmed and didn't seem to be there for a fight. When he asked them if they would stay and have a talk, Adelle felt a twist in her gut all of a sudden, as if her instincts were telling her that he was the high priest guy that the woman from before who was apparently called Eda had mentioned. He was also definitely not alone if Adelle's gut was right and this was the so called high priest guy mentioned.

Adelle glanced over at Mei and her companion, nodding to them for a moment and moving her hands away from her guns before looking up at the man where he was at next to the altar. "Um... okay then, I suppose. But... might I ask who you are sir? And might I also have some of this tea please? I'm quite thirsty, especially after what the good doctor downstairs was doing to me, which I didn't appreciate very much, because it was humiliating and degrading," Adelle replied to the older man, being polite in case her gut was right about him and who he was, though she did let a bit of anger out when mentioning the doctor downstairs and what all had happened with him as she took a seat across from the older guy on the altar, politely bowing to him to show respect to her elders like her parents had always taught her.

Re: Steel Sky (Adelle/Mind Flayer)

The old guy was willing to let the girls come and have a cup with him, the fact that he had laid out four cups suggesting that he had been expecting it probably, and he gestured them to take seats around the altar with him. "I've been called many names, but people mostly know me as Timotheus. I am just an old nun's colleague who happened to pick her business up after she left this world." he introduced himself in a way that appeared to be purposefully vague. He had no kettle with him, a tall thermos standing in the middle of the table instead. "I hope this is satisfactory. I could not get a proper kettle out here on such a quick notice." he apologized somewhat bizarrely as he poured out the tea, which appeared to be a herbal mix tea of some sort. It still had a rich variety of flavors to it, even when it came from the container that some tea aficionado might consider inferior.

Mei and the other girl were somewhat on guard even as it appeared to be a friendly interaction, but the old guy probably had even them convinced that there was no need to be alarmed since they too seated themselves on the sides. After having a few sips of the brew, Timotheus went straight to the point. "Some things happened earlier today, I hear. Might be bad for business, they say. Is it true?" he asked, apparently not minding that the two additional girls were there to hear everything.

"I see. Well, I'm only known as Adelle myself. And don't worry about not having a kettle. I'm not overly picky honestly. Coming from a... not so wealthy background and all, you learn to make do and like just about anything," Adelle replied, smiling softly at his apology of having no kettle for the tea.

Adelle took her cup when it was filled and smiled as she bowed her head politely in thanks for the tea, as she was quite thirsty and in need of something to wet her throat. When he spoke again, Adelle took a couple of sips of her tea, blowing softly on it to cool it off before she looked back at him and set her cup back down. She took a breath and opened and closed her mouth a couple of times, as if trying to come up with the proper response.

"Aye, it's true, some things that would very likely be considered very bad for business came about. I won't lie, I was a part of it. Though... unknowingly so until I arrived in the storage room I guess it was where the... blueprints were," Adelle replied, sighing softly and taking another sip of her tea before looking back up at Timotheus. "The lady that I was with at the time, Rosieta, didn't tell me what we were looking for, only that I would know when we found it. Well... just before the man who came in shot me with that beanbag, which by the way was very uncalled for as I was trying to kick Rosieta for bringing me in on this stupid job, she pulled a gun on me because I was trying to hide the most dangerous sets of blueprints in my backpack from her so that she and her boss didn't get their hands on them. But she caught me doing so, which was why I was naked when he came in, as she told me to strip down to see if I was hiding anything else from her. I'd wager though if he hadn't come in when he did that I would be dead now most likely," Adelle went on to say to Timotheus.

"If I had known what it was she was wanting me to help her steal and who it was from, which by the way she never said either, then I would have told her to piss off and find someone else. The only reason I even considered the job though was because her boss paid very well for another job I did for him. And speaking of stealing, a rather good friend of mine made me a custom gun which was taken from my things that I would very much like back. She's a very good friend and it would be an insult to her if I lost the gift she took the time out of her life to make for me," Adelle said after taking another drink of her tea. "I'm not a snitch who'd tell just anybody anything, just so you know. But when someone betrays me like that, then they're by god not gonna get any sympathy from me, nor will they get any loyalty from me in keeping my mouth shut about who they are and who they work for. Besides, Rosieta and her boss... they're some bad apples in this town... some very bad ones that'll stop at nothing to get what they want, no matter who they have to eliminate to do it. You, me, doesn't matter to them," she added, taking another drink of her tea and finishing that cup off and setting it back down, accepting another cup graciously if it was offered to her.

Re: Steel Sky (Adelle/Mind Flayer)

Timotheus let Adelle speak, his ears firmly dedicated to her view of the events, ones that he had most likely heard once already. It was easy to see that he was paying careful attention to any possible mistakes or incompatible parts in the explanation, most likely to see if there was any attempt to play him somehow. Regardless of what he had in mind about it all, he did not appear to think badly about Adelle just yet, giving the offer for another cup and pouring one out as it was accepted. The mention of the lost Isabella gun brought a reaction as the man whipped the gun out afterwards, having had it on his person the whole time. "This one, I take it? It's an interesting design, so I had our designer guys take a look at it. They broke it apart to see how it was made, so now we can consider making similar ones ourselves." he told Adelle as he set the gun on the table before her. "Don't worry about it, they know their guns. It's perfectly functional again."

Re: Steel Sky (Adelle/Mind Flayer)

When Timotheus produced Isabelle's gun from his robes, Adelle let out a sigh of relief as he set it down on the table. She couldn't help but start to laugh softly as she nodded her head when asked if that was the gun. "Heh... aye that's it. And thank you very much. I was afraid I'd lost it. Little thing really comes in handy when you need a bit more stopping power than just a pistol in hurry. If you'd wanted the designs though, I could have probably talked to Isabelle about it," Adelle replied to the priest.

She cautiously reached out and picked the gun up, where she stowed it back into her backpack and made sure it was strapped in so it didn't fall back out. "So... what happens now? I can go into more detail about the other job I did with that bitch Rosieta if you like. But to make a long story short, what she'd paid me to do was help her get a suitcase which apparently has some sort of land title deed or something to Liliana's place... at least I think that's what was inside it," Adelle asked Timotheus curiously as she nodded in thanks for the second cup of tea, blowing on it softly to cool it before taking a drink.

Re: Steel Sky (Adelle/Mind Flayer)

"We will talk to her about it. If she is this consistent in her work, we just might want to have her making the occasional produce for us." Timotheus expressed some plans towards Isabella, and they did not appear to be particularly hostile, which was interesting.

"Hmm, that is not news. He did try to announce that in the meeting. The mess that happened there did not allow him to go much farther than mentioning it, if what I've heard is correct. The papers went missing during the chaos, so he has no real shot at that anymore. Unless he tries to go the brute force path, which could be trouble for both sides." the head of the church mentioned afterwards, having some idea about what had happened during the meeting. He had not been there, but obviously he knew about the events, considering he was the new head of the operation.

"I'm sure she'd appreciate the pay that would come with that sort of thing for sure. So long as she's not dragged into any fighting she doesn't want to be a part of at least," Adelle replied about Isabelle working on some guns for the priest's group.

"Hmm, I didn't hear about Miguel losing those papers. That's news to me, but I suppose it's to be expected after all... what with all that chaos that happened. But knowing him, if he's going so far as to steal weapon blueprints from you all, then he's willing to try and brute force it and take what he wants. And he likely wouldn't stop there either if his aims are to take the entire city. But that's just me thinking out loud as I've only met the man twice, and only spoke once to him," Adelle said with a shrug of her shoulders as she sipped more of her tea. "So... what happens now sir?" Adelle then asked after a few moments before downing the rest of her second cup of tea.

"What happens now? I don't think there's anything special that's going to happen at this point. I'd rather not have you people know about this place, but those two already came here by their own accord, so it might be a little hard to do so without killing them." Timotheus pretty much let the girls off the hook, being a strangely benevolent type of criminal overlord apparently. The two rescuers were not quite comfortable with the mention of killing them, but they had no reason to be scared or anything. "You can go. Try to keep everything you saw here to yourself." he continued a little bit before getting up and walking to a nearby window, where he would remain and gaze outside. "We just might need to start preparing for a bigger war... I'm not sure how this city can handle it."

Re: Steel Sky (Adelle/Mind Flayer)

"Well, I'm not gonna talk to anyone about this place. Mainly because very few people knew I even went with Rosieta anywhere. Oh, and you might have to go help the doctor downstairs, I left made sure his torture machines don't work anymore and that the lube or whatever he had in one of them leaked out all over him and the floor around him. To be honest I ought to have killed him for what he did to me earlier, but he's lucky I'm too kind hearted to kill someone who's defenseless," Adelle said as she stood up and glanced around, mainly down the pews and up to the rafters of the place to see if she spotted any snipers or anything that were keeping eyes on them just in case.

"Thank you for the tea by the way. It was really good. And if this war comes, I'll likely need some heavy firepower myself to protect myself from Rosieta and her boss. Any chance I could make any purchases from you in the future?" Adelle said as she stood up and bowed politely to the man as he went to the window.

Once she'd gotten her answer, Adelle would nod her head before going on with the others, making for the bar to report in to Samson about what had happened.

Re: Steel Sky (Adelle/Mind Flayer)

"He can work himself out from there. I never particularly liked that man, but he has useful skills on him that kept him from being expelled from the fold." Timotheus expressed his disdain towards the strange doctor, one that did not apparently go over his more pragmatic consideration of the organization he was the leader of. Of the firepower he was not sure about. "The fold will decide what our part will be in all of this. We might be seeing each other with business matters. For now, I will make no guarantee of any future deals."

Even if there were no hidden snipers to be seen in the church, there was a six-member squad of them outside, including the two other people who had been with the doc earlier. They were not particularly concerned with the trio of girls, the peaceful dealings between them and the boss apparently being enough to remove any concerns that they might have had about the hunter group. In fact, they appeared to have some other concerns as they spoke in hushed tones before the man who had captured Adelle went to the chapel in a rather hasty manner. And just then, there was a flash and a boom as a high-caliber gun was shot at the chapel from a rooftop some distance away.

Re: Steel Sky (Adelle/Mind Flayer)

"Heh, alright then, I guess he can get himself out of there. Ask him what all he did to me though, because it's too embarrassing to say myself," Adelle replied to Timotheus. "And that's all I can really ask, is to consider doing business in the future perhaps. I like guns and other sorts of weapons, so I'm willing to pay for anything I'd want," she went on to say before bowing politely and heading out.

Heading outside, Adelle saw the group just out there and looked around at them, not noticing any snipers on their way out in the rafters or anything. She noticed the two from before when she'd woken up chained to the cross in the chapel, Eda she assumed and... whoever the guy was. It seemed to Adelle that Eda and her group weren't going to try anything against them thankfully from the looks of it.

As Adelle began to lead the trio away from the chapel, a loud shot sounded in the distance and the round hit the chapel. Adelle ducked and ran for the nearest cover that would allow her to maneuver around for a better look as to where the shot came from. Barring that, she'd head back into the chapel, assuming the shot was aimed at her.

Re: Steel Sky (Adelle/Mind Flayer)

The shot could be heard shattering the stained glass window of the chapel, but there was really no other sign to indicate if something had happened inside. It was probably a safe bet to assume that it was Timotheus who was under the targets here, simply from that. The remaining five church crooks scattered as did Mei and the still unnamed girl with her, all of them finding positions that could somehow provide cover while one of the church fellows made it inside as well, probably having a fair bit of concern towards his leader. Another shot rang out just as they had finished finding cover, another window breaking as a bullet went through it. From behind the corner pillar, Adelle and probably a few others as well could spot the flash from the shooter's rifle. On the opposite side from her, one of the unnamed church guys took out a set of small binoculars, taking a careful peek around the corner to see if he could get a better reading on what they were facing before retreating back to safety. "It's a big damn gun... looks like they just might be hefting an anti-materiel rifle over there. Looks like it's a female shooter, might just be the one who assassinated the whorehouse mistress." he laid down the information to all of them, not apparently having any qualms about co-operating with the outsiders in the face of the common threat. An eerie quiet followed after that, no-one doing anything outside as there was a bit of stalemate going on.

Re: Steel Sky (Adelle/Mind Flayer)

"HOLY SHIT!" Adelle shouted as she dove behind some cover at the corner pillar of the chapel. As she got settle in to her cover, Adelle took a peak around the thing and saw the flash of the second shot, telling her where the shooter was firing from.

"Margaret... her name's Margaret. If it's her that is. She used to be a friend of my friends. If it's not her... I'd bet it's Rosieta... the one who hired me to help her break into your guys place," Adelle told the others from her position. "We can't just sit here though guys and girls and wait for us to get picked off one by one, or until their reinforcements arrive and wipe us out if any are coming. Any of you got a rifle? I'll get her to shoot at me a time or two so you can get a shot at her and at least drive her off if not hit her. Or hell you could rush across the street and get behind the buildings there closer to her position where she can't get at you as easily and then work your way up to her. Doesn't matter how we go about it really," Adelle then said, suggesting a plan since nobody else had done so.

If she had any means of getting back and away to loop around herself though without who she could only assume was Margaret or Rosieta seeing her, then Adelle would attempt that instead, telling the others what she was going to try.

Re: Steel Sky (Adelle/Mind Flayer)

The church people took a moment to analyze the situation, Adelle's words not particularly effective right away. But she got a response out from them eventually, and it was not the most pleasant one since Eda was the one assuming control of the remaining criminals. "Don't ya order us around. We'll see how she manages this." she told the busty girl as she flipped one of her guns in the air, grabbing it by the barrel before using the grip to smash a nearby window. "Jace, distract her. We'll sneak through the buildings and surprise that fool. You can have my spare mags, I did not bother with the rifle anyway." she told the one who had used the binos earlier, dropping a pair of mags to his feet. They appeared to be the very same ones that were on the rifles of the squad, the rather famous SCAR-H battle rifle. Having done that, she took the remaining three guys with her as they hopped inside the building through the shattered window while the guy called Jace started taking potshots at the rooftop where they had spotted the flash earlier.

"Who the hell said I was ordering you? I was merely suggesting a plan since you hadn't offered one yet. What's the matter Eda... afraid I'll steal all the glory?" Adelle said to Eda, smirking at her a bit before the other girl ran off.

"Well fuck it then. Might as well try to help out some. I mean the bitch up there obviously doesn't care," Adelle muttered to herself and her two companions.

She carefully leaned around to opposite side of the pillar she was at from where the guy named Jace was at, making the sniper have to move further to hit either of them. She'd quickly lean around a couple of times, waiting to see if a bullet came her way, and if one didn't, then she would carefully aim her pistol that she'd gotten from Miguel and fire at the flashing of the sun beaming off the sniper rifle scope if there was any, or simply at where the muzzle flashes had come from.
