Re: ranger Test Thread

Revalli was somewhat taken aback by the appearance of the naked fairy, but after a moment much of the tension drained out of her, and she actually smiled as she said; "It's quite alright, really! I was just trying to make sure that, ahhh, Tia wasn't getting into trouble with somebody dangerous. I quite understand keeping this from the townsfolk, and they've got more than enough problems to worry about as it is. I won't tell anyone."

Re: ranger Test Thread

At Revalli's promise not to say anything the fairy visible relaxed. "Oh good its been so long sense I've hexed someone Im not sure what would happen." The fairy seemingly relaxed for now effortlessly flying past the barrier to inspect Revalli in greater detail. "You have a hint of corruption on you but your no demon. You may enter my.. err Tia's home." The small fairy landed on her shoulder and pointed to the house. "I've been making some soup you should come in and have some. Its my thanks for keeping my adopted daughter safe."

Re: ranger Test Thread

Revalli frowned slightly at the fairy's implied threat, not sure what being hexed by one of the little folk might entail but suspecting that it probably wouldn't be pleasant. Still, she wasn't going to do it, so the elf quickly allowed it to pass from her concerns. Slightly taken aback by the fairy's proclamation that she had some corruption on her, Revalli scowled for a moment, but again allowed it to pass by without comment. The barrier was soon brought down, and she glanced at the tiny sprite as it landed on her shoulder before looking forward towards the house.

"Alright, though if you'd answer a question or two I'd be appreciative," Revalli said as she started forward, entering the house through the front door as she allowed the spell she'd cast to enhance her in preparation for battle to fade. Glancing at Tia to make sure that the child was out of earshot as they entered the house, Revalli quickly whispered; "What happened to her parents?"

Faye nodded as she accidentally grabbed onto Revallie's ear as the woman started moving muttering a quick apology. Once in the house Faye left her shoulder and moved about the room lighting extra candles so that Revalli could see. "Well it was awhile ago but Richard was a alchemist who lived in this house. Every once in a great moon he would summon me to fetch a rare ingredient for some potion or another. The last time he summoned me he told me that he was sick and wasn't sure if he or his wife would make it. He made me promise to look after Tia. Bound by the spell I of course obeyed to my ability though there where a few times after she tried to swallow me that I nearly gave up. She was so little then but still a giant to me. After awhile I grew attached to the pink hairy thing and well here we are!" Faye buzzed around the kitchen it being fairly clean despite the owners small size. "I made a mushroom and wild vegetable soup I hope you like it."

Revalli, not needing the faerie's candles, simply cast a spell to conjure a floating orb of light, which she sent to hang over the ceiling. "Mmm... I see," she replied to the fairy's explanation. It all made sense now. Mostly. "Well, at least I don't have to worry anymore.... How did you know about me? Were you spying on me? Tia said you'd told her things about me. That I was a witch. It's not nice to call people names you know!"

Re: ranger Test Thread

"Spying no. I saw you after you rescued the villagers. Tia and I went to scavenge what we could from the ruins of the town when that knight lady found Tia and took her to that inn. When you entered the first time I could feel the aura you have. I told Tia that you where a witch and to stay away but shes been getting more and more rebellious of late...." Faye seemed to sigh as she poured a small bowl of soup for Revalli.

"Oh..." Revalli replied, scratching her head softly, "Well I guess it all turned out alright... How old is she?" She stirred the soup put in front of her idly as she replied to the fairy, and took a sip while awaiting an answer.

Faye fluttered down to the table and took a seat on a edge of a plate. "Well... I think shes's 5 or 6? Im not sure human take so long to grow." Faye sat looking at Revalli. "I know what your thinking. My story isn't adding up if I was summoned I should have been sent back when Richard died. That would be true except I live or rather used to live fairly close to here."

Re: ranger Test Thread

"You don't know for sure how old she is!?" Revalli asked incredulously, though she let the matter pass without further argument. "I'm past doubting you at this point, I've been taught enough about faeries to know that they're capable of all sorts of things. Have you been teaching her? How do you feed her? I can't imagine it's easy for you to take care of a human girl at your size."

Faye simple shrugged at Revalli's surprise about Tia's age. "Well I taught her some letters and such. As for food well we do a lot of that together. She's very good at finding edible herbs and such now." Faye sat a little longer looking out a window. "It can be challenging sometimes especially if she had a tantrum. There is only so much I can do at my size. Thankfully she is a good girl most of the time." The little Fairy looked up at Revalli and winked at her. "Besides I still have my friends in the woods. In fact there is a pleasant trio of Nymphs about an two hour walk from here that watch over her when I have to attend to my duties. It may be troublesome when she gets older but that is a long way away."

Re: ranger Test Thread

Listening patiently, Revalli frowned and scratched her chin softly, before suggesting; "Well... Have you thought about trying to get her into town? I mean, she is human, and while you seem to be doing a good job so far it might be best if she were raised by her own kind. I'm not saying you should do it, and I still don't plan on telling anyone about you, but it's just a suggestion."

Re: ranger Test Thread

Faye shook her head "They would just send her to an orphanage and when her powers begin to manifest she would be an outcast. Besides I can groom her abilities when they start to manifest." Faye flew off Revalli's shoulder and landed on a window looking out. "Anyway I've grown.. attached...."

"Ahhh, she has gifts!" Revalli replied, as if that explained everything. "They haven't been manifesting yet then? Do you know what kind she has? I'd guess similar to those possessed by her parents... I'm told these things are hereditary."

Re: ranger Test Thread

"Not as of yet though the signs are present. A sudden breeze here or the occasional plants growing near her bed and on the walls. The way small animals come up to her. Not to mention the amount of dresses that suddenly caught fire. Those things are hard to come by for one of my size. Oh can't forget the static that sends her hair every which way." Faye sighs and her wings slump slightly. "Its alot of work... but she has the gift and I will not see some high and mighty mage teach her how to burn things because she can." Turning Faye looked over at Revalli. "So many people with the gift use it to destroy it makes me sad."

Re: ranger Test Thread

Revalli frowned softly at Faye's words, the comparison between her own upbringing and what Faye thought Tia might suffer at the hands of a mortal teacher pertinent whether the little fairy had intended it or not. "I know... But unfortunately it seems necessary these days," she replied softly after the faerie had turned back to her, "And unlike when that excuse might normally be made, it's not just because of politics. The world is a dangerous place these days, and because of much more than just the orcs."

Faye seemed to nod in agreement. "I know I know.... It seems that corruption has spread so far these days. Eventually she will have to learn how to defend herself with magic. I just... don't know anyone who can teach her..." Faye's voice dropped a little at this revalation sounding fairly disappointed that she couldn't teach her adopted daughter how to defend herself.

"Couldn't you teach her? Or, failing that, one of your, errr.... Larger kin?" Revalli asked, genuinely surprised by the fairy's revelation about lacking a teacher for Tia.

Re: ranger Test Thread

Revalli's words seemed to make Faye slump even more her pink light about her body dimming."I wish I could take her with me to hidden hollow where my clan lives. They would love her as I love her. But alas she cannot go mortals are forbidden. Besides shes way to big to fit." Looking out the window likely at Tia the faerie sighed."I can't teach her my magic.. she's not a pixie." Flying back over the mage the faerie sat once more on Revalli's shoulder. "I suppose I could find one of the sorcerers but the price of their help is a little hard for my kind to ummm... pay."

Re: ranger Test Thread

"Price?" Revalli asked, perplexed. She hadn't known that faeries used money. "I could pay it, I have some money and little use for it beyond paying for supplies. How much does a faerie education cost?"

Re: ranger Test Thread

Faye blushed as she responded to Revalli's question. "Its not a monetary payment." Sitting on the mage's shoulder chin resting on fist the little fairy thought. "OH! I bet I can get one of my friends to charm the half-elf warrior woman. She's bound to be fertile right!" Zooming off Revalli's shoulder Faye ended up at a cupboard trying to open it. "Just need to get some travel stuff together for Tia."
