Nico didn't say anything, simply staring at Elise before she went back inside.

"W-well... that could have, um, c-could have gone better..." Aleth said, a little nervously, falling into step a little behind Elise. Quickly, though, she noticed Elise was not in her usual spirits, and came up, where she noticed wet streaks on Elise's face.

With very little warning besides a fretful "U-um...!", Elise felt her companion thump heavily against her as the off-duty guardswoman wrapped her arms around one of Elise's, much like how Jivi and Roxanne would do, clinging to Elise as she went about town doing her business. Aleth's breasts squished against her, as well, the deep cleft of her cleavage parted as they surrounded her arm as well, even through the dress she wore.

"H-hey, Elise! I just thought of some r-really pretty stuff around town - d-do you think you might to walk around for a l-l-little while with me? I could show you Nagali Fountain! It has these enchantments on it, so at night, the water sparkles, and turns all kinds of pretty colors..."

Figuring that Nico wouldn't say anything regardless of what she said to her, Elise just went on about her way, with Aleth in tow. Elise was glad to have a fellow partdemon like Aleth around with her, one that at least tried to understand her situation and help out in what ways she could. Elise just nodded with a grunt as Aleth stated that could have all gone a bit better than it had. She figured that Kavi would have been at least a little understanding towards her, since she knew what Elise stood to lose here and all. "Oh fuck it, doesn't matter really anyway. I knew that I was going to have to do this on my own most likely anyway, don't know why I was surprised about Kavi and her pet bird acting that way," Elise said in her head to herself, sighing aloud as she walked on as she shook her head from side to side sadly, trying to keep from just bursting into tears right there in the middle of the street.

When Elise felt Aleth step up next to her and wrap her arms around Elise's left arm, pulling it between her large soft breasts, which made Elise smile a bit despite how sad she felt at the moment. Couldn't feel sad with a nice large pair of breasts wrapped around her arm really, not in her mind anyway. Elise listened as Aleth spoke to her, mentioning wanting to take her to this Nagali fountains. "Yeah, sure Aleth. Maybe it'll help clear my mind some from all these negative thoughts churning around in my head. Any distraction could be useful really, because tomorrow I've got work to do apparently. I don't know why I expected any better treatment from those two back there than I got from Sari before. You're the only person here that's not just been a complete and total asshole to me Aleth, it really helps to know not everyone is against me... (Sigh)... I suppose I'll have to try and talk to that bitch Sari again tomorrow sometime, unless you'd like to give her a message for me of some sort, asking about if she wants a job to fight the aliens, and if so to meet us at a place and time when we head out and stuff." Elise said to Aleth as they walked, with Elise letting Aleth lead her to the fountains she mentioned, trying to think of what all Kavi had told her she would need to try and do in order to bring the alien ship down. "I... I just don't know what to do Aleth. I can't afford to screw this up and that's all it seems that I'm doing. I mean how much more of my pride can I swallow to ask people for help Aleth? I can summon my papa's friends to help, among other things, but then I would have debts to pay in other ways that I wouldn't be able to pay easily alone. And I can't just ask the Soaring Swords to pay them for me, that'd be just plain wrong. Gods it feels like even trying to save them is hopeless Aleth, like I shouldn't even bother," Elise went on to say, just feeling like her situation was hopeless and feeling quite down about the complete lack of help she'd managed to get save for a single mercenary band, and even then there was no guarantee she'd get them, especially if Yu found out that it had been her that did what she'd done.

"Hey, hey, hey, I'm sure that's not true," Aleth said, trying to sound soothing. "Everyone's just scared, you know? Glassmoor is like... like, the only safe city left in the Amazon. I mean... there's like, Ironrose, but they're not even a town, really - it's just a monastery. No one knows why Glassmoor is safe, either, you know? The only reason is because we didn't get attacked yet, and no one knows why that is. It might be the end of the world, and we just don't know it yet... a-and... a-a-and we never know if we're safe, or if they're going to storm the city tomorrow, or today, or when you're sleeping, or... o-or anything!"

Aleth wrung Elise's fingers with her hands as they wrapped around her arm. "Like... I dunno... w-what I mean... w-well... I guess, they were friends, right? Nico and Kavi? I guess... what if something terrible happened to your friend, and like... everyone hated her, and she lost everything - everything - except you, but she didn't even know you, or how you became friends, or anything like that? And like, Sari... well... I dunno, she's always been all high and mighty, I guess. She always said she was the best, and... I... I dunno, I guess she's angry and feels useless, since the army isn't doing anything? I mean - like, I'm not trying to take their side or anything like that, Elise, but everyone has been so freaked out about all this stuff happening - people dying and getting caught, getting forced out of their homes by those weird, evil monsters... everyone's just tired, and crazy, and sad, and feeling like that for so long just like, eats at you, you know? It's been so long, people are just..."

She was wringing Elise's wrist fiercely by now, but stopped, looking down. When she looked back up, her eyes looked moist, and her voice - into which had crept a rising, frantic-sounding panicked tone - had become calm and quiet. "Let's just forget all that, okay, Elise? Come on, I'll show you Nagali Fountain, and like, all sorts of pretty things. One of my favorite sweets shops is on the way - do they make mysore pak where you c- in Badaria, Elise? I can treat you to some, okay?" Aleth tugged at Elise gently, evidently indicating the way.

Elise listened to Aleth speak in silence for the most part, sighing a little when she finished talking the first time and nodding her head. "Yeah I know people are scared Aleth, but if they only sit here in the false safety of Glassmoor doing nothing but hope they stay safe, then they've already lost a fight if it comes to the city itself, because there's nowhere else to go after this. This is the Amazon's last stand pretty much other than a few scattered outposts and towns that don't have the necessary resources to fight off a major attack. I'm scared too, for more than one reason, but I'm not going to stop fighting just because I'm scared... because if I do that then I might as well just bury my parents right here and now. I... I have nothing left to go home to though Aleth, my parents are literally all I have left, and I'd say that odds are they're already gone," Elise said, though it was easy to see the wear and tear on her from all of this.

Elise squeezed Aleth back a bit when her fellow part demon squeezed her arm and wrung her fingers, laying her head over on Aleth's shoulder as she sniffled a bit, letting her finish talking before speaking again herself. "(Sigh)... I suppose I would be a little upset too, but I didn't say anything wrong to Kavi to begin with as far as I know that would have caused Nico to get pissed at me. And then she ups and says what she did about my papa Leah. We aren't bloodthirsty, my parents gave up a fucking lot to make sure nobody hurt me, and I had very few friends growing up Aleth, because we couldn't risk too many people knowing what I am in Badaria. The few friends I did have are probably already gone by now most likely. And about Sari... well if she'd just learn to take the time to hear someone out then she would've gotten the chance to fight the aliens already, because I'm willing to recruit her, but like I told Kavi she's got to not say hurtful things like what she did or I won't be able to fight at my best when it counts. I've got to know that the people I take with me have my back and wouldn't abandon me if I got grabbed and stuff you know, and from the way Sari spoke to me I don't know if she would help in that situation," Elise said to Aleth as they continued walking, unsure of what to do now as she tried to think of a solution for her situation... coming up with a blank at the moment. Maybe if she relaxed for the night and got some sleep she'd figure something out... she hoped. "I... I just don't know if I can forget it that much Aleth... but... I'll try to for now at the very least. Because there's not much I can do about it right this very moment really. Now.. what kinds of sweet is this Mysore Pak? I've never heard of it before now to be honest, so yes I'd like to try it. Maybe it'll take my mind off of things," Elise went on to say after Aleth told her about the sweets shop on the way to the fountains, letting Aleth lead the way to these places since she didn't know where they were herself.

"Like, it's soft and wigglychewy, like that stuff Chao bought for you earlier! Except like... firmer. They make it by mixing chickpea flour and melted butter, and then pouring that into sugar-syrup they have simmering, and then they put in a little butter at a time, until the stuff starts to firm up. Then they put it in a pan and cool it and then they cut it up and sell it! And then we eat it. Cuz' it's good! Like really good come on."

She pulled Elise along, towing at her until they were off the Lyceum's grounds, whereupon she eased up. As they assumed a more casual pace, Aleth snaked her arm around to encircle Elise's hip, blushing.

Along the way, she pointed out all kinds of different places - she caught her first runner - some thief she'd seen filching a guy's purse - in that alley, and that teahouse was the first place her dad had said he'd taken her mom out to eat. When they reached the little shop Aleth had talked about - it looked like someone's house, and hardly at all like a shop! - Aleth introduced Elise to the little old Amazonian lady that ran the place, and they got a whole bunch of mysore pak cut into little squares, to share. Aleth popped the first cube of the stuff into Elise's mouth herself - she half-demon found it sweet, and dense.

When they'd moved on, she pointed out a tiny little garden, where it was said a long time ago, some guy had sad and thought under the tree that dominated most of the space the garden was in, and realized some secret of the world, or something. A man was there now - praying, it looked like, facedown practically in the dirt and roots of the tree. A little later, in the craftsman's district, they passed by what looked to be a moderately-sized blacksmith's shop - still clamoring with tons of activity, even though most other shops were closing down at this late hour already. Through thick-slatted windows, Elise noticed a red-haired, grim-faced, soot-streaked woman, whose long, frizzing curls struggled against the tie she'd tried to tame it into a ponytail with. She was pounding at something with a blacksmith's hammer - though from the sound, at least two others were in there as well, metal ringing as the blacksmiths worked.

"That's, uh, Tanya... Whitestead, I think...? Tanya Whitestead's shop!" Aleth stated. "She came from Badaria, too! Not too long ago, even!"

Not long after they'd gone by, Aleth started squirming and looking excited. When they rounded the corner, Elise saw further down the road a huge fountain, made out of marble, and mysteriously lit. "There it is!!" Aleth let burst at last.

When they got closer, Elise found herself in a tiny square. It seemed that the stonecutter and stonemason's guilds were situated here - the Nagali fountain being a centerpiece, to demonstrate their artistry. The marble was dark gray, shot through with streaks of white, and it's pool was big enough take probably 12 people, linked hand-to-hand, to circle it. It boasted three tiers of basins above the bottom pool - water cascading the tiny top basin, to splash down. Immaculately carved statuettes played out scenes as they ringed the pillar holding up each basin in the center of the fountain - every here and there, a figure held a tiny orb that glowed, and in the fountain's main pool, similarly lit-up stones resided at the bottom of the pool, lighting the water from beneath.

"Nagali fountain! It's the pride of the Stonemason's Guild. They say this whole thing was carved from one solid cut of stone, like three hundred years ago, by the Guildmaster, as a work to commemorate being chosen as, uh, guild master, and it shows some old battle, though I forget which. See that really big guy, with the tiger's head hat thing, and it's skin for a cape? He's my favorite! He's called Sagati Tigerpuncher. They say when he was 17, he punched a tiger to death! Then he turned its skin into that rad cape!"

"I see... well... (sighs)... alright yeah, let's go. I shouldn't let myself get so down, it's not going to help, and I don't care what those bitches back there think. I mean I go there and speak of what happened a long time ago in the past when I was little, and why I'm here now looking for help, and that stupid fucking harpy says something like that to me. I mean come on, that's just something you don't say to someone that's been through as much as I have, losing not only their parents most likely, but also their entire village. It's small wonder why nobody wants anything to do with Kavi hardly, if her harpy friend is that much of a bitch to people I mean," Elise said as they walked, deciding to put it behind her for now so as to stay calmed down.

As they walked on, Elise just smiled when Aleth slipped her arm around her, feeling quite nice considering, mainly because she felt a connection to Aleth, but also because she was happy that Aleth was being so considerate and trying to cheer her back up. She listened to Aleth talking of her past, which did indeed take her mind off of things, and by the time they'd reached the shop in question that she'd intended on taking her to, Elise was smiling again thanks to Aleth's trying so hard to take her mind off of things. When Aleth got the sweets from the shop and the old lady running it and then popped the first one into her mouth, Elise began chewing, nodding a couple of times as she did so.

"Mmm... this is pretty good Aleth. Can I have another?" Elise said to Aleth, wanting another one.

As they went on again towards the fountains, their new sweets in hand and a couple in their mouths, Elise looked over at the tree when they passed by it, noticing the man praying as Aleth explained about it. After that they passed the blacksmith that Aleth told her that Tanya Whitestead, the lady that ran the place had come from Badaria like she had not too long ago. "Hmm... so she's Badarian too huh. Maybe she'd be willing to help me out a little bit, or knows someone who would be," Elise said as they passed by her forges.

When they rounded the corner to the street where the fountain was, Elise could tell that Aleth was getting quite giddy to say the least, and she smiled at her as they moved in closer. "I can tell why it's the pride of their guild Aleth, it's very beautiful. And considering what I've seen those aliens do and whatnot, I don't doubt that he managed such a thing Aleth," Elise said, letting Aleth lead them up to the fountain, looking at the guy that Aleth mentioned curiously. "Hey Aleth... would you help me, to find other people to help and go with me to rescue my parents? Or at the very least to destroy that ship if they're... you know... already gone. I'm not asking you to go with me when I do go, but you know," Elise asked Aleth after a minute or so of thinking about it.

<_____> I am bad at timely updates I am sorry

"Yeah, okay!" Aleth said almost immediately after Elise asked for her help. "I thought I was helping already?? Though, uuummmm... I'm not sure if mom and dad would let me go off to attack a city-destroying, flying tentacle monster... I'm not that good of a fighter, even if I am a guard. I mean, I mostly just look mad at drunk guys and tell them to go home, you know? But, like, I can like totally help you look for other guys to go with you!"
