Re: Wolfenstahl

The CG folder shows that each boss (at least for Stage One and Two) has two game-over CGs but I've only ever gotten the one. Is it just by random chance that one is unlocked and I have terrible luck? I can't seem to get anything other than the same one no matter what conditions occur. What am I doing wrong to get both gamer-over scenes?

Re: Wolfenstahl

I think those alternate CGs have just been removed from the game because they didn't want to code an alternate ending or whatever, but kept in the CG set because they were already done. In fact, the data values in the cgsave for both scenes are 0.

Maybe it has something to do with the the red hair guy's blowjob scene being a promo image, I dunno.

Anyway, I have the full CG set.

Re: Wolfenstahl

The english patch as well as the uncensor patch are available on the blog now.

Yes, the price is high (for western standards, and I guess a bit over the top for japanese standards), our boss thought about the price quite a long time, until the decision was made, that it will be sold for this price.
(as it is now, we get ~10 EUR per sale, and there is still income tax to pay)

At the same time it was decided that we open up donations, so people can get the game elsewhere and simply donate what they think it's worth.
(so yes, this might be a weird approach, but that's what the boss decided, and I think this isn't too bad)

I already mentioned this before, several times.
I guess the pricing would be much more understandable, if you take the following into account:
If we would have made only one hentai animation per enemy, and therefore tripple the ammount of enemies, as well as giving each enemy only one CG (instead of 2-3, but yes, some have been removed from the game... originally every enemy had 2-3 CG's, now mostly only 2)

I guess that the pricing would be much more understandable, if we would have made it this way.
(more enemys, 1 CG only for each enemy, but less content per enemy)

Well, we made way too many mistakes on this game, but we will not repeat them for sure.
In the end, we are all glad that we finally pushed this through.
And of course we are counting on every support we get, even if it's just a little bit.

But most important of all:
Enjoy playing the game, and spread the word!
Well I'm glad you guys are taking such an open approach when it comes to getting the game for free and then donating afterwords. If more developers did this I'm sure they would make more money. I know there are a lot of people who simply pirate games because they are cheap bastards but there are a lot of people who pirate the full games (such as myself) for a complete demo. Every game I own I've pirated before I bought it. (and that's every game I own on all of my systems. PS3, 360, PSP, PC, etc.) Considering my personal financial situation, and the economy I can't afford to buy a game without first playing the final retail version. Because if the game is horrible then I just wasted X amount of dollars just to figure that out.

More companies have gotten money from me because I was able to obtain their retail product free at first instead of buying it.

So I'll personally be supporting you as soon as I'm able to do so. Hopefully in the next week or so.

Is there an alternate download for the english patch? It's showing temporarily unavailable on Mega.

Congrats on the $2300 you've made so far :) though i know it's not really enough to pay a team for a few months to work on the next game yet, how are the donations going?

While it's nice that you guys got this game out, you probably shot yourself in the foot by pricing it at that point. You're relatively unknown to the DLsite community and that was a big price to set for your entry.

Sure, you might have had a higher profit margin per sale... but you probably lost a lot of sales, which would have potentially raked you in more cash than what it currently is now.

I don't believe the game deserves the just a mere 165 downloads it has on DLSite, but I don't believe the game deserves a $25+ price either.

it also doesnt help that some of us cannot read japanese and have no where to purchase this game for english speaking community so that is even more lost sales...all we can do is pirate it and donate :|

Not to mention the uncensored patch, thanks for pointing back to the site :)

Although, the uncensored patch stops downloading at 25%, can't tell if it's me or the file...

Good luck trying to get it. The service they're trying to use, Mega, to distribute the English patch and Uncensor file is a buggy mess because it uses HTML5.

Right now, the site will refuse to properly download anything larger than 2mb, the Uncensor file is 6 mb. Even 1 mb files will sometimes fail to download.

It doesn't matter what browser you're using, the site won't work. Unless they put up a mirror or Mega fixes itself, we're not getting the Uncensor patch. If you're lucky you might be able to get the English patch, but it'll take a few tries.

OK thanks, that cleared things up a bit for me, I was able to get the english patch in one shot, so I got a little confused about the larger uncensored patch file.

You got lucky. I had to restart the download 3 times in order to get the 1mb English patch.

Re: Wolfenstahl

Mega has currently problems?
Unfortunately I'm too busy with real life issues right now, so I can't take care of this issue >_<

Details on the new blogpost.

Thanks, well, donations are currently almost non-existent.
But a few people made donations, and we are really thankful about it.

I wrote something about this on the new blogpost I made.
The price was set too high, yes.
But it's definitely not just the price on DLSite that's responsible for the failure of the game itself.
It would have been better to start off with something small.
Finishing it quickly, and setting the price low.
We made way to many mistakes during the developement...
(well, before I repeat myself, please read the blogpost, this matter should be covered in the upper part of it)

I won't have internet access for some time, so please understand if I don't respond to questions, or if I take a lot of time to respond.

Re: Wolfenstahl

Where did you guys come up with the price? I noticed a majority of games good or bad on DL site end up being around 1500 or less.

Hey, he said it himself not us... but I agree, if you don't believe in your own work it's not likely your potential customers will either, I don't want to be condescendent or anything but it makes you feel kinda bad to see someone criticize so harshly his own work after working so hard on it.

Re: Wolfenstahl

Well, I was satisfied with the game, when I was "done"...
Because I just made it, as it was planned to be, the number of CGs, the enemies, the system, everything.
(except missing text, yeah)

But I didn't know back then, that it made so many troubles for other people to play the game.
(version 1.0 to 1.02 of the game)
I really testet it on a lot of computers, and it always run fine...

After improving the performance issues several times, I uploaded the new trial version, and the vote revealed that the game didn't work for more than 50% of all fans...

I was shocked when I found out, that the game didn't run on newer Nvidia graphics cards...
And yeah... the reason why I didn't found it out myself:

I (and my friends) turned our backs to Nvidia in the past years, because we keep on having trouble with those graphics cards...
So we all bought ATI radeon, and we never had any trouble with them lol...
Don't get me wrong, Nvidia is strong, and really good.
But I kinda experienced trouble with their graphics cards way too often, mostly when I tried playing games that did "not" require high-end graphic cards.

Don't ask me why, I don't have any specific knowledge on graphics cards.
My decission to turn my back to Nvidia is because of my (negative) experiences with them.
I also heard from people being unsatisfied with ATI radeon, so they switched to Nvidia.
So I guess it's just a point of view.
(it just happens, that I keep on getting trouble with Nvidia graphics cards, well, maybe I have bad luck or something)

Sorry, I went a bit off-topic there.

Well, why I'm "unsatisfied" with the game in the end...

First of all, I think a game should be playable by as much people as possible.
Without needing too much ressources, limiting the number of potential customers.
And I wasn't able to fulfill this, because of my lack of experience.
I'm happy that I fixed the big issues... but I haven't fixed the problem that some people simply can't play the game, because it eats up way too many ressources, and I guess, I never will be able to fix this on Paperheads...

Second, we spend so much time and money on this game...
Even if it would sell "good", it would still not make profit, because the expenses would be way greater than the income.
Profit means, that it should give you more money, than you spend for making it.
(right now it doesn't sell good at all, but well, as I said, even if it would... the expenses would outweight the income, after all those troubles, we didn't expect the game to sell well... but... we didn't expect it to be this unpopular either)

Third, I guess we put too much work into areas of the game, that are barely noticeable.
If we would have thought about this more carefully right from the beginning...
Well, I think we could have made a much better game.

So all we currently hope for, is to be able to get at least enough money, to be able to work on and finish a game within 2-3 months.
(which is half the time that Paperheads took)
I believe, that we can make a much better game, with the experiences we made during our first game.

Actually what is needed to make profit, is good time and ressource management.
And I think it's better to do smaller games that are cheaper, rather than doing too big games that are expensive.
At least at the beginning, once you've got a good reputation, and a team that has some experience, you can do some bigger games.
(and of course you should have enough time and budget, so it's not that harsh on you, in case it fails)

I'd love to talk more, but I'm pretty tired already, and I got to leave tomorrow.
I'm not really sure when I'll have an internet connection once again.
But I'll be definitely back as soon as possible.

Thanks for everyones support!

And thanks that you people like the game, this makes me really happy.
(btw. I'm not feeling depressed or anything, it's just... well... it's only "honest" to acknowledge that a game I worked on, is financially a disaster, but I'm not giving up because of this)
