"Maybe they were killed, after all, though that doesn't explain what happened to the bodies. Fenrir hasn't even been here." Willow answers with a yawn and starts setting up the tent with Cindy while Aqua does the dishes.

"Wishful thinking Willow, but I hope you're right" Helena said quietly. While they set up tent, Helena didn't move from her spot, continuing to pan around slowly, still trying to contact anything in hiding with her mind. She didn't like this.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

The night passes without incident, and though Helena feels weary, resting on place is enough and she feels no need to sleep. Eventually, the rising sun colours the eastern horizon pink and the morning comes.

Helena is a little shocked by not feeling the actual need to sleep, and files that little tidbit about herself for later. As the sunrises and the night goes past without incident, Helena stands and stretches, checking on Jasmine's location before getting everything ready for breakfast. It had been awhile since she cooked.

Jasmine tells Helena that she'll come sometime during the day.

As Helena starts making breakfast, she notices that they're almost out of rations, though they should be able to make it through the day. Fenrir makes another appearance, again with a half-eaten rabbit.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Helena wanders over to Fenrir and accepts his gift in the same way, but saves a good piece of one of the legs, eating her breakfast and patting him, the required transformation to easily eat her portion of rabbit taken without even thinking about it. Setting about breakfast, Helena took the rabbit leg and cut it into very thin strips before making a very thick stew, the meat used to flavour it like broth, and simple oats with a dash of wine.

Setting this to slowly boil, Helena worked on the coffee and got everything ready before waking the others, taking a seat by the fire and patting her leg, wondering if Fenrir would join her for awhile.

The others get up in fairly short order and start eating breakfast while Fenrir pads over to Helena and lies down. "So what do we do today? The boat won't be here until evening at the earliest."

Helena shrugs and strokes Fenrir. "We're still probably not out of the woods yet, but we can relax a little. Not entirely sure how to pass the time however, unless we trained in one way or another. I could show you some bowcraft if you'd like Cindy, Willow." Helena offered.

"Or we could meditate, I have my morning exercises to do, I forgot them yesterday, but if you want to practice, just give me a bit" She said smiling before sipping her coffee and closing her eyes, running through the exercises Jasmine had taught her.

Wisdom check: 6+0=6

Cindy nods. "Sounds like a good idea." Willow stands up and stretches. "Well, if you two are going to meditate, I think I'll try to mix some potions."

Helena quickly gets into the trance, but the exercises don't seem to be working very well.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Helena opens her eyes after failing to find that inner peace and calm she was supposed to be searching for, the memories of last night and her own fears of the current situation refusing to let her focus properly. Shaking her head, Helena stood up and stretched, looking around for her bow and waiting for Cindy. Helena was pretty sure by now that she couldn't increase her power through meditation like before, Now she was hunting like the predator she was. In order to increase her actual strength, the road was now longer and harder. It didn't matter to her though, everything was a means to end. Setting aside 25 arrows, Helena practiced her archery on a small piece of wood sticking up out of the water from the wreckage, working on her accuracy and hoping Cindy would join her.

While Helena practices with her bow, Willow has put a small cauldron on a fire and is mixing foul-smelling brew. Another our passes before Cindy comes out of the trance, smiling widely.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Helena turns back to look at Cindy, sweating slightly, all but a few of the set aside arrows wedged in the wood that was her target in the river. "Making good progress Cindy? I know that smile~" Helena teased. She did to, the thrill of knowing you had accomplished something through will alone. It felt amazing.

"Come on over here, and we'll work on you using my bow, the long recurve is a different animal, and I think you'll like it"

Cindy comes over and takes Helena's bow. "What's the difference?"

The spiders come out of the forest, but keep their distance from Willow, playing with Aqua instead.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Helena stands next to Cindy and adjusts her stance a little, spreading her legs wider and straightening her back like a board. "The difference with a longer bow, is the resistance you'll meet upon the draw. A short bow is stiff all the way through. Go ahead and draw back without an arrow, straight back to your ear, nice and slow..."

Helena guided Cindy's arm as she drew, knowing she was probably going to be surprised by how easy it was to draw the bow at first, and how difficult and heavy the draw was at the end. By her ear, this bow was capable of throwing a lot more force then the short one, and the tension would reflect that.

Cindy nods and carefully draws the string, grunting in surprise as she pulls it to the spot where her cheek bone meets her neck and lets loose, barely missing the target.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Helena claps excitedly. "That was great! Let me adjust your stance a little more and I think you've got it!" Helena said happily. It was rare to find someone who was so steady right away~! Cindy was amazing! She showed a talent for everything anyone tried to teach her and she learned quickly.

Having her line up again, Helena turned her hips just a half inch into the bow and lining her entire body up more with the target. "Okay, This time, raise the bow across you as you draw, slow and smooth, when you've finished moving, you should have the arrow by your ear and the bow lined up, this will make the draw easier. Make sure to exhale slowly as you move, and don't inhale until you've loosed the shot."

Giving her all of the basics, Helena stepped back and watched carefully.

"I was taught to draw to my chin." Cindy comments as she follows Helena's instructions and lets loose, missing barely.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Helena nods but doesn't comment. "Let me show you something then" Helena says gently taking the bow and 2 arrows before turning to look at a tree just as far away, and laying down in the grass, the bow to the side and an arrow knocked. breathing carefully, her eyes never leaving the target she had chosen, Helena smoothly stood from her position, raising one knee before standing, bringing the bow across her body as her arms moved to draw, the motion ending at full draw, standing straight, and her eyes never moving from her target as she let the arrow rip through the air and into the bark, with a single motion. "This is why I draw to my ear, so I never have to move my eyes or change my sight picture. No matter how much better a picture you could get by changing the view, if you change it, you have to readjust, and that takes time. Every second holding that arrow makes your arm more unstable, and worsens your initial aim."

Cindy nods and tries again, this time hitting the tree just below the target.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Helena watches, and continues making tiny adjustments for a few more shots, always explaining why. "I know it's counter to what you've been taught, but normally, we're not going to be aiming at trees and targets, but moving or unaware targets, and speed is a serious factor. Is it starting to make sense?"
