AFG (Text Only Game) WIP

A while back when COS and various RPG Maker games started showing up inspired me to try my hand at my own. This is my first attempt at a project of this kind, so any advice would be very helpful.

I wrote this using .Net Framework 4.0 so you'll need to have that installed to play this game. You control a group of girls, using them to fight invading monsters and perform jobs.

Anyways, please try the game out and let me know what you think.

There aren't much yet but right now it's pretty much just rape(debatable) and pregancy.

I like the gamestyle only I get myself kicked everytime i engage a zombie
and group of zombies are juste too much.... I won against zombies like 1/5

anyway looking for next update

You are expected to lose 1v1 at the start but should be able to overwhelm them with numbers, creatures and characters don't recover card used until next turn so you can exhaust them eventually provided you did it in one turn. Also you get exp for about everything you do.

Make sure you change the cards your girls are using base on what their stats are. After a few level up and the proper card set your girls can pretty much solo a zombie by themselves.

I agree group of zombie might be too much, but that's mostly because they are meant to be mid game enemies and is showing up way too early because I didn't have any other monster faction done yet.

interesting concept so far - i like it :)

as a side note - COS? you mean City of Sin? am i popular now? =P

anyways off to program some. think i might work on CoS a little :)

Yeah, I started concepting the whole thing around the time I found your blog. Of course, back then AFG is still some sort of action rpg instead of what it is now.

Game Updated!

Only one piece of new content, but it was nesscary to release the build to fix some serious bugs.

There are also some game mechanics changes but they are not fully implemented yet.

Don't know what's wrong, but it starts up, and then none of the buttons do anything.

There is a couple choices you have to make in the listbox on the bottom side, before the game will unlock those buttons. I'll see about making it more obvious.

Neat concept but there are a few things that imo could be cut/simpliefied:

Buildings & Shedules:4 different HP are kinda a pain to track/maintain and pointless to distinguish since losing one already makes you fail - just make it one number: "City defense".
Similarly you won´t have Assistants work in the Orphanage it´s far easier to just make a unified "work" schedule that makes the girls perform their profession. Relatedly working and recruiting/improving (I assume you can "level up" buildings eventually) would be a single step each.
Ultimately even the resources could be unified to "just" Gold since they currently have no differences. The management process would instead be focused around the benefits each of the classes/jobs/buildings give.

Girls: You don´t need stats, they are identical to level right now. For the sake of different battle(card) setups it´d make make sense to give classes bonuseffects for the respective cards. Example: Flirt can take an additional card based on level difference, Whores count as 5 lvls higher for that purpose.

All this would also make it possible to introduce new buildings and (advanced) classes/battlecardcategories much easier - especially if you ever want to take other peoples content into the game.

Combat: attack the result (kill/rape) to the same page as the fight, that halves the required clicks for fighting. Maybe even allow a "autofight" option that orders a girl to fight (the same enemy until either win or) out of Cards.

Sorry about that, I assumed it was for people who were looking for team members and what not.

The building part is a big of a mess right now, but eventually you have to lose all buildings to lose. I think I will revamp it again at some point

I'm seriously considering just use gold as suggested, originally it was suppose to have a trade like economy, but that plan went no where.

Character stats will make a difference a few generations down. The way it works is whenever your girl gives birth to a new baby. A new girl will be made available to recruit with 10% bonus stats from the mother. The idea is that you are improving the bloodines till they are capable of doing whatever it takes. I rather ride this system a little longer before I make a call on it.

Auto fight is a good idea; there will be a lot of things I have to change for that to work. It'll be worth it, but I probably won't work on it right away.

Sounds promising. Ultimately the worst thing that could happen would be for the game to become tedious. Having to maintain seperate buildings and manually switching schedules repeatedly doesn´t seem to be worth it, but maybe there could be a "autorepair" function that orders a girl to repair the lowest building each round.
Ultimately it comes down to the difference between desicions and "clickwork". Having girls repair the buildings is minor but currently switching girls from their jobs to the correct buildings an then back isn´t.

A mini update to include the auto fight feature, and some difficulty reduction.

Also a list of things i'm considering changing, I would like some opinions before I start ripping a hole that big.

Depending how it ultimately combines with "reinforements" it might either be too crippling for shortlived girls or even encourage high turnover (to get the daughter). Maybe try it and consider a mechanic to increase lifespan (at least up to the original lenght)?

Otherwise great ideas.

New monsters in the Heap Island, you might have to wait for a little bit for them to show up. Also don't set the beacon when given the chance, you will be spawning a end game boss. The only good thing about it is that it will only stick around for a week instead of wrecking your face forever.

Yeah the autobattle explore monster is sort of a bug, but it wasn't crippling enough for me to care about fixing it until this update. Life span are increased to compensate for the HP lost, it's currently set at 600 but I'm considering to increase it even further.

The mall will have plenty of things to counter act the Life span lost mechanic when I get around to implement it. I hope to tackle at least one of the buildings for next update.
