To apply a patch you need the rpg decryption program, use it, then combine the data folder from the patch with the one created via decryption.
Finaly remove the game.rss2a file from the game folder.

The one I use is literally called RPGdecrypter.

Just an update: My translation is finished!
I've updated my original post with the newer version, so you can either scroll up or click the link in my signature to get there.

But wait! Before you go, I wanted to mention a few things about the translation project. First of all, there are a few thing that are actually picture files and unless someone with editing skills wants to basically remake them, they are infeasible to translate (this includes the title screen, new game ect. unfortunately). Also, as far as I know there is a single line that I couldn't find buried in a mountain of scripts that I believe relates to interrupting an enemy's attack, and is only relevant when using twin fists and isn't very important anyways, but sorry for that.

If you could believe it, this game was actually quite buggy. There were quite a few bugs,typos,inconsistencies and so on that I found and was able to correct. Such as, various missions not paying out the correct money reward like in the mountain area.

And lastly, I was pretty conservative with the monster names. So while I could have tried to interpret the puns, more often than not I just left it as is. So yes, I know "rifu" is referencing a leaf.

Anyways, I put a lot of work into this, so I hope you guys have fun with it.

If you let me know what the japanese text is I can find which script it's in for you. The tool I've written that I use for translating dumps all scripts to files, so I can easily just use grep to find out in which places a particular text string is used.

So I went back to go take a look at it and, I am just a fucking moron. I found what it was, I'm sorry! I fixed it though! You see, the joke is, it wasn't in a script at all, gosh dammit. I just replaced the old file with a new one without making it like v1.1 or something, shhh don't tell anyone.

The link still works, but not if you click on it for some reason. Maybe mediafire doesn't like ULMF for some reason. Just copy the link and paste it into your browser, and it'll work.

I can confirm this, the files as of right now are still up and fine. Except, I could also just click the links straight from the forums and still get there, so I dunno maybe mediafire was having a hiccup or something.

EDIT: I went ahead and created a Mega account and updated my original post with mirror links. While I don't seem to have the problem, I understand that it might be annoying for those that do so I went ahead and did that. Same with my Creature Hunter translation if you're interested in that too.

Been having problems with this one, tried everything from changing locale to extracting it differently but its always missing one audio file.

Try using 7zip to unpack the file - -a

Most likely whatever you used before (winRAR probably) didn't unpack it properly and thus instead of Japanese name you get different characters so the game couldn't recognize it.

You're missing the music file which plays when the main menu is active.

I also noticed that the RPGmaker program itself isn't displaying the right characters. Hopefully you've set your system to Japanese for non-Unicode programs.

Alright, here it is!

This is still very much so a partial patch, but there's still a lot of significant work done. This should include translations for all the items/weapons/armor/menus/verbage . There are a few other random bits that I've translated but most of the actual npc interaction dialogue isn't done yet, which isn't a big deal for some people but for me that's one of the best parts.

I plan on continuing translating this, but I wanted to put something out there so that people could have at least something to play with until then.
And while I don't get paid for this, I can get some some Rep! (it makes me sleep easier at night )

Hey, I don't suppose either of you would be kind enough to upload an already patched version of the game would you? I've found a decrypter called Anti RGSS, but it's just way over my head.
