Re: Hounds Of The Blade

I know you guys are having a fun conversation and all but I would like to point out there seems to be an update of some kind ...

It's separate from the game, maybe a preview for a character idk this is his post

"Took to the disease also want to make a new character, if you have around the Rendaroshiti and DAZ. The name is Amy Clarkson white birch. Whether or not to give this title to be determined. Write a scenario in the back, so I made a loop, such as anime, buying hair may be Yoro. password: blade in the game is currently in production systems as well as shops. Was tentatively also determines the next enemy, this time about it also. After the last comment, there were questions about previous work. Is EryonaAction First, here is it looks like I was not able to download the closure is LOAD.JP. I think honesty, so too can be array, re-publish it, but embarrassed, and I will later attempts to re-p toward sakura. Is NanoCirsis, here is another update will not be also. Spend all the resources in the development of Hounds of the Blade."

Downloaded it, it's just a new animation for a character that he seems to be making, interestingly enough while it only has the one scene it still has the speed control thing but with no limits, so stick it up to about 1000% for a laugh

New post and link today. Not sure what changed but downloading it now.

Google-fu'd it and basically all that changed evidently is the scale of the screen. Not really sure if he panned out or in but that is it.

Re: Hounds Of The Blade

he should make butterfly into a enemy. raped by a butterfly could your mind even process that?
How about getting turned into a cocoon for a caterpillar, and it emerges a butterfly from her vag? (late response I know <.<)

Re: Hounds Of The Blade

I finally got around to this one, and I like it shockingly.

Now the question becomes while this is a short game (unfinished and all..), what other games are like this one?

just the scale yea, though he added a new map which according to googlefu would be the next stage.

currently it has large rat just running around which doesnt really do anything at this point, the level itself is friggen huge from left to right though.

Re: Hounds Of The Blade

I tried the "new" version (the one from a week ago) and I got to say that you guys are underestimating the progress that went in it :) No, it doesn't have no h-scenes or a new functional stage, but it has:

1) New visual scale (Camera is further back). Since it allows you to see more of the stage and that the dash makes you go stupidly fast, I'd say it's a huge plus personally. Big zoomed characters are pretty and all, but they don't play that well.

2) An equipment system. Currently it's only Accessories (unsure if more equipment pieces will be added) but it's functional.

3) A functional shop system.

4) A world map for stage selection.

5) A level-up system where you can allocate points in different categories of your choice.

While it's mostly back-end stuff, I'd say that this latest patch is a great step in making this game better. There's also a whole heck of a lot of new locales to visit, NPCs to talk to and better-developped storyline in general. Sure, having a functional stage 3 would be swell but it's more important to get the base gameplay elements down before making new stages.

if i remember correctly he stopped development of his last game shortly after achieving those things.
hounds of the blade is still far inferior to his last game/demo/project...
looks are better, but the rest is fairly the same, but less developed. this project won't become an enjoyable game (meaning a few hours of gameplay with changing content) for a long time.
i would presume, that the chances of the author quitting this project before achieving "game status" are relatively high.

This. I'm not usually a pessimist but from all I've seen, it's usually "Once a quitter, always a quitter" I think he just takes on too big a project at once. Anybody would get bored working on the same thing for so long. I'd still love if it was finished and will be watching.

Hmm? I'm not sure I agree on that one. The only thing that was more developped in Nanocrisis was the various gun and armor choices. This one has more movement options, equipable spells, the possibility to actually lose some stage and not get a gameover, animated losing scenes (At least for the testers, no idea for the first stage), farther-reaching story consequences for what happens in stages (Beat testers vs lose against testers vs beat testers but get caught), more locales to chat with NPCs for storyline and setting information.

Unfortunately, you may be correct in saying that the game might be dropped. The previous game was dropped because the gameplay structure was too limiting. It's probably not the case here, but the creator does tend to lose interest in his work and the "Amy animation" that he released semi-lately does seem to point in that direction...

It might sound a bit strange, but the best thing he could do is plan to actually sell the game: Having a payoff at the end is a good motivator to stick with a project to completion instead of constantly going for the newer shiny ideas.

Re: Hounds Of The Blade

the post on the amy character was that he would want to add a ranged class in the game, not a character for some new game.

secondly from his posts it seems that he has the biggest issues with creating the story not the gameplay/animations

Re: Hounds Of The Blade

The new demo is interesting.

He put in a lot of sub menus and new npc dialogue screens but because most of the text is in japanese, it is really easy to get lost in the sub menu system. And since I don't know japanese, its hard to say if all of the extra stuff is even worth it.

There are times when I'm almost a lil jealous of the friends I have who know more than 3 or more languages. I mean I can somewhat translate german, spanish, and french text, but when it comes to asian languages, I can't translate a damn thing.

Well yeah, he's spending his free time making this game, if one quits then so be it, its his/her hobby anyways. Even those who make these games and sell them, delay their progress, quit, or release a basically "unfinished" product. I wouldn't really hold him against "quitting" because this seems like something on the side that doesn't warrant his priority settings. Though I do hope that he does finish it, I won't hold it against him if decides to delay or discontinue the this project.

Someone needs to tell him that no one cares about the story in a hentai game. He should jsut go for it and let the story come to it later.

Yeah, if he really gets bogged down and SLOWED down by something as irrelevant as that, then all I can say is "Goodness Gracious."

...Well, I could also say "FOR FUCK'S SAKE"
