Re: OOC thread

Depends on which tornado you mean. The worst touched down in Fairdale, roughly 30 minutes southwest of me. From what I'm hearing and seeing a lot of damage and a few fatalities on that one.

We also had another touch down 30 minutes east of me, and one 15 minutes south of me which proceeded to head north and leap frog me before touching down again northeast of town. There were also at least a dozen sighted that didn't touch down.

One of the worst I've seen in a long time. We were getting golf-ball sized hail where I was spotting and we've got a lot of standing water. We've also got more t-storms and wind heading in as I type.

Re: OOC thread

Oh, news only said there was one. My town like squeezes through the one tiny little gap and didn't even have rain for a full 10 minutes, heh.

Re: OOC thread

Make the terrain a hell of a lot flatter and replace pretty much all of the buildings with corn and soy bean fields. That would make for a better picture or better yet watch this and remember that this was only an F4. Meaning they get worse and bigger than this.

Going by the news after everything happened, there was a grand total of 7 but most of them were probably just smaller ones that broke of the main one. Yeah my town usually gets skipped over, we're kind of in a valley so the tornado tends to jump over us and hit everyone else. Of course being in a valley means we get more flooding, so not exactly a great trade off.

That yellow car man... what an idiot... granted... guy filming it was way to close too.

Also a few of the towns around here just flood cause our sewer systems suck ;)

Well you know rednecks, we... I mean they always do those sorts of things. The filming part not the yellow car, that was a bit beyond normal stupidity.

Re: OOC thread

Admittedly I would gladly trade a tornado for just about any other natural disaster. Most of the other's I've dealt with are a bit more predictable, tornadoes on the other hand are about as unpredictable as you get.

Also just a reminder, I'll be doing the majority of my moving starting later this week so I might not be on for a few days. I will return soon however and there's still a few more days before I can start.

Re: OOC thread

So I came across on Netflix streaming and watched it. The story was... not fabulous, but I LOVED the atmosphere of the movie. It was incredibly sexy and I thought it handled the incredible urge to feed pretty well. Vampires are dark and scary creatures but also with deep, brooding hearts. As it should be imo. I definitely enjoyed watching it.

Re: OOC thread

Well the move is done, still have a week of unpacking ahead of me but that should go a bit quicker than the move. Should hopefully not be long before I get back to posting for the game.

Re: OOC thread

I guess I'm settling in okay. Though I've made a discovery, unpacking is the only thing worse than packing and moving. I'm guessing that's why i never unpacked while in the army, so it's more like a rediscovery.

Re: OOC thread

Tell me about it, I moves twice a year for about 13 years. This is my fourth year in my current house though, as of August. Feels nice to have that stability.

The sad part is I was done unpacking my stuff the first day, Everyone else apparently owns too much useless crap. If only I had the ability to ignore boxes lying around I would be set.

Merge: Sorry for the not posting, my internet's been having all kinds of problems lately. Hopefully should be fixed now and I can get back to posting.

Re: OOC thread

Internet interaction is always troubled by moves. Seems companies just can't get shit running smoothly quickly.

If they get it running smoothly at all. On the plus side my x-box and netflix is working better than normal. Of course they should all be working better with the improved speed but that's apparently too much to ask.

Merge: This is all hypothetical but I was curious how other people would go about changing the whole clan and sect setup from vampire. As most of you probably know I enjoy world building and I'm not afraid of changing things from the canon. Still it sometimes helps to get another perspective.

So using the modern game as the basis, how would you guys set up the sects and clans and bloodlines. Feel free to be creative, if you think the camarilla should be called the illuminati and made up of tzimisce, daughters of cacaphony, and brujah antribu knock yourself out. I might think your a little weird if that's the case but knock yourself out.

I'm not sure if I should post my current favorite idea or not, I wouldn't want to bias anyone else. So I'll wait unless you want me to go first that is.

Re: OOC thread

Well here's an idea: 3 factions, plus the Brujah Hegemony.

Faction 1 is something like the Camarilla/Invictus (from nWoD). Ventrue have a high place within it by default, also Toreador, Lasombra and Tzimisce Kolduns, and any kiss-asses from the low clans, notably the powerful Nosferatu methuselahs who steal the secrets of Necromancy from the Cappadocians.

They want to rule humanity and other vampires, and wish to do so smartly, and in secret. They play the long game, a game of patience and manipulation. They run the Elysiums. They occassionally hold court with independants and ambassadors from the other factions, though rarely from the Sabbat, as they've declared war upon them and only agree to ceasefires when the other factions are growing too powerful. The Camarilla are the faction with the highest amount of Elders.

Faction 2 is the Sabbat, secretly a Baali led faction that masquerades as Followers of Set (Set being the only located Anti-diluvian who slumbers in a great temple, though they are actually a demon), the Tremere, the Tzimisce 'Dragons' (Metamorphosis types), the Lasombra-antis, the Nicktos (true Nosferatu) and most of the low-clan antitribues.

They believe that Vampires should inherit the earth and draw in anyone who wants to be 'free' to rule the night. They have the greatest numbers of neonates, very few of whom live long, as they are cannon fodder shovel heads. The leaders of the Sabbat are usually thoroughly corrupted by their demonic masters, including but not limited to "Set."

Rather than give themselves titles with a religious tone (that's the next faction), the Sabbat tends to refer to themselves by military ranks. At the low levels, they're like skin-head gangs, but behind that they are trying to forge an elite army of survivors, people who prove themselves to be a part of the ''superior" breed of vampire. Yes... I'm meaning there's definitely room here for a Vampire Nazi vibe to these guys. The Tzimisce Dragons teaming up with the Tremere in an infamous treaty that shook the Cainite world and split off the Old Clan permanently has led to the idea that the Sabbat way is the way to become the True Vampire superower, bolstered by the strongest of occult magics.

Faction 3: The Covenant, led by the Salubri, with Tremere anti-tribu, Brujah antitribu, Ventrue Antitribu, Toreador Antitribu, the Cappadocians, the Nosferatu rebels, and rag-tag self-righteous types. They continue their shadow war against the Baali and the Sabbat, but their willingness to do battle at the expense of keeping the Masquerade sacrosanct has made the Camirlla consider them a liability that must be purged.

The Covenant fights the good fight against the Baali's Sabbat, who are the vampires willing to sacrifice their own souls to obtain blatant power. The Covenant view themselves as paladins, the first and only line of defense for humanity. The Covenant risks much to continue their mission, and they are the faction with the fewest in number, because with a potential eternity to exist, few among the damned have the moral or ideological fortitude to risk their unlives on a nightly basis uncovering nests of foes who seek to unlock the powers of Hell.

The Valeran Warrior-Caste Salubri outnumber and outweigh their Obeah kindred on the Covenant's high council. The covenant is highly adorned with the trappings of Religion, specifically run like the Catholic Church. There IS a warhawkish, inquisitorial subdivision within the Covenant that represents maybe the worst colors of Vampire Fundamementalism, though they are counterbalanced by the more passive 'monastary' strongholds that promote a Redemptionist approach to 'evil' vampires. This would be a faction that seems like the Lancea Sanctum from nWoD on the surface, and there's definitely a vampire religion here, tied to mortal Christian-Judaism. But they're not blatantly evil, like the Lancea Sanctum is. The Covenant IS littered with heretical sects however, and from city to city, the accepted doctrines of the Covenant might be wildly varied. It depends on whoever is the Archbishop of the City.

Faction 4: The Brujah Hegemony. The True Brujah return in force, aided by the Assamites and the Laibon Kingdoms. Culling many of the descendents of Troile, they then convert others to their cause, offering 'forgiveness' to Brujah who join their ranks willingly. This causes a major schism in the clan, which is severely underestimated by Brujah elders. The Trujah recruit more than expected numbers, because they promise a return to the utopia that the children of Troile could not achieve while being under the thumb of the other clans. The Trujah are brutal in their tactics, each of them acting like individual warlords.

In modern nights, those who find that they do not wish to rise within the slow moving ranks of the Camarilla and they don't want to get caught up in the Salubri-Baali holy war, instead get drawn into the Hegemony, where the offer of advancement comes through merit and a willingness to prove oneself to the cause. The Hegemony is, in a way, much closer to the Black Hand from the orginal setting.

--

That's just an idea. Add to that the Anarchs if you want.

Oh, if you're wondering where the Gangrel are... they're independents, though some of them take up positions in the Camirilla. A lot of the non independents join the Sabbat, though they're a favorite for Gargoyle fodder. Few join the Covenant, because they tend to be loners as apposed to working with a religious community. The Hegemony likes to bring in Gangrel and give them a 'pack' to belong to.
