Re: Jen (thetwo)

Jenn: Roll(1d20)+0: 15, +0 Total: 15 vs Diedra: Roll (1d20)+2: 2+2 Total: 4 Success

Jenn managed to hook her arms around one the larger woman's legs for a third time and trip her up, pinning her shoulders for the third and final time, securing the victory. Valayria tossed a white flag on to the mat signalling her victory, "The first test is over! Jenn has passed a perfect 3 of 3! Well done! I am impressed, not very many people have managed to get past Diedra with a perfect score, Jenn!" Valayria complemented the smaller woman, "Indeed! Sometimes it's better to be fast and clever then rely on strength, you should be able to handle a grapple should you find yourself in that situation." Diedra followed up extending her hand once again to shake the victor's hand.

Once they were done, Valayria would lead Jenn into a subfloor, buried beneath the building which was already below the surface, making it fairly warmer, once they reached the bottoms of the steps, they found a container holding several copper swords, not rusty but not great. They eventually came to another round circle, which had a cage on one end that held the beast she would have to face for her second test. "This test is rather straight forward, either subdue the tunneler or last five minutes against it and you pass," Valyria explained to her guest, "RELEASE THE BEAST!" She ordered as an orderly would pull a rope lifting the gate that held the mighty beast in, releasing it into the ring, it was likely the same size as Diedra, if not twice as large, and looked quite menacing. The beast advanced slowly towards her and she would have to get herself prepared in order to do well against the monster.

Re: Jen (thetwo)

"Thanks! I really wouldn't mind having a little strength to back that up with, but I suppose we can't have everything." She shook hands with Diedra, then followed the other woman into the basement for the second test. Fortunately the walk gave her a little time to catch her breath, as it was clear that she'd need it all when she saw what she'd be going up against. They had said it was "tame", and looking at the thing she was glad. It was also slow, which would give Jenn the same advantage she'd had in the grappling test.

Unfortunately, she didn't think 3 "touches" would count as "subduing" the creature, and five minutes of fighting it might be a bit much. Still, it was her best shot, so she waited until it was nearly to her, then darted around it, striking out with her sword as she passed, then continuing on to the other side of the arena so that it would have to walk up to her again, stretching out the fight

Re: Jen (thetwo)

Jenn got to her feet as quickly as she could, not wanting to give the creature another chance to attack her. Her head still rung from the last blow, and her sword didn't seem to have damaged the thing at all. And that made sense, since they said it was tame. They'd hardly go through the trouble of taming a creature just so that she could slice it open, but they had given her a sword. That probably meant that it was damn difficult to cut.

So, forget subduing it, at least with a sword. That left either staying up for five minutes, or finding some other way to subdue the thing. For the moment evasion seemed the best idea, but she kept her eyes open for something to help tilt the fight in her direction. The heavy gate to the creature's cage caught her eye. It was held up by ropes, and she had a sword, and if "Return of the Jedi" wasn't exactly a documentary, it could still be a source of inspiration.

But it wouldn't do to rush into things. She took a moment to take a closer look before she actually moved, keeping her sword between herself and the beast in case it moved more quickly then she'd seen thus far.

As Jenn ran past the beast it would take another swing at her, but she would prove too quick as she would juke out of the way and make he way over to the pen, now she would just have to wait for the beast to lumber over to her and hope her plan works.

Re: Jen (thetwo)

Jenn waited by the cage door, sword still in a defensive position between her and the beast. As it got closer, she backed into its pen. This was the dangerous part. If she waited too long, she would end up in the pen with the beast, with the handlers unable to easily open the gate. And of course she wanted to subdue the thing without killing it, if possible. That hadn't worked out for the Rancor, but then its door had been several feet thick of solid metal.

It occurred to her that just putting the gate between her and the beast might allow her to technically win by surviving five minutes, but decided that it wasn't in the spirit of the thing any more then trying to climb out of the pit would have been. Still, probably better to be early then late. When the beast got under the gate, she would cut the rope and hope like hell that it was heavy enough to pin the thing. It ought to be, since if the gate could lift its own door then it would escape, but one never knew for sure...

Jenn Roll(1d20)+0: 12,+0 Total:12 vs TN 15 miss
5 or less under it fell too soon, 10 or less under it fell too late.

As Jenn waited for the creature it would cone after her and begin to rear it's mighty claw backwards to prepare to strike her once again, but just as the beasts claw came bearing down towards her the gate crashed in front of it, blocking the attack. In frustration the beast went to strike at the gate to either break it down or to get an opening to attack the woman.

Beast damage to the Cage: Roll(1d4)+0: 4,+0 Total:4; Gate HP 10/10 -4 = 6/10

The cage rattled from the tunnelers mighty swing and started to give way slightly, Jenn would stand in the cage with sword between her and the beast and hope he would not be able to take it down, or at least not until 5 minutes were up.

Re: Jen (thetwo)

Jenn looked at the gate nervously. It... wasn't as sturdy as she had thought. What good was a gate if the thing could bash through it? Still, it was a little late to be changing plans now. What could she do? She could try to attack the thing. But its skin was pretty damn hard, and that would probably just enrage it more. Taunting it was out for the same reason. Hiding wasn't really possible inside the thing's pen. And the pen hadn't been designed to be easy to get out of. At least... not for an enormous beast that didn't have hands or intelligence.

She looked about the pen for anything useful, and tried to stand such that if the beast was trying to get at her it would have to go through the least damaged part of the gate. Maybe that way when it broke the hole would be big enough for her to slip out even with it blocking part of the way.

Tunneler Roll(1d4)+0: 4,+0 Total:4

The monster rears it claw back again and fiercely ricks the gate, rending it terribly making a large hole, not large enough for it to fully fit through but enough for it to wedge in in an attempt to take a swipe at Jenn.

Tunneler Roll(1d20)+2: 6,+2 Total:8 vs Jenn:Roll(1d20)+0: 3,+0 Total:3 hit

The creatures claws manage to make contact with Jenn, raking painfully across her chest, drawing blood along her shoulder and shredding her top off revealing her ample bosoms. As the creatures paw returns to it's position Jenn makes a mad dash trying to break through the hole away from the monster.

Jenn.Roll(1d20)+0: 15,+0 Total:15 vs TN 15 success

Jenn just manages to slip past the monster and out through the hole, clutching her injured shoulder fiercely, but thankful to be away from that beast. Another thing she can be grateful is Valayrias proclomation, "Two more minutes left!" the woman cried, before cursing to herself DAMMIT! these things are getting stronger! Even tamed ones. Were going to have think if other ways to contain them. she thought.

Re: Jen (thetwo)

Jenn runs to the opposite end of the arena once she slips past the beast, and switches to a one-handed grip on her sword, allowing her to use the other hand to hide her breasts as best she can. Crap. This isn't even my shirt. I really hope I get this job...

The two minute warning was a comfort, but that also meant she was barely more then halfway done, and with a big hole in the pen door it wouldn't be so easy to avoid the thing now. Still, she had to try. Avoid getting backed up against a wall, and especially avoid any corners. Keep moving. And keep the sword between herself and the beast whenever possible, in the hopes that it would be more wary, or let its guard down so that she could strike at its vitals.

Fight defensively, running to draw out the time between rounds, until the match is over one way or the other.[/quote]

Jenn was on guard this time, alert and spritely, as she she would swing in wide arcs or jab sharply at the creature, warding off it's attacks. The creature was never able to get past her defenses and before she knew it the time limit had expired. "RESTRAIN THE BEAST!" she would hear Valayria cry, "THE TIME IS UP! THE TEST IS OVER!" She would then order a fellow warrior to grab a bandage an run down to Jenn before applying the bandage, doctoring up her shoulder. "Well done, Jenn! You have technically already qualified, two out of three is a passing grade. So if you don't wish, you dont have to face me. Only if you had failed this one. However if you feel like you are up for it, I would certainly welcome the challenge. But I will allow you to heal and rest up first. It's your call." she said encouragingly to Jenn as she lead her back up to the room her first test took place in.

As she would head up to the testing room a pop up would appear before her as the world froze for a few moments:

Code:
Congratulations! You have earned the level 0 trait: Dodger!
.I decided to be generous and give you a +1 for defensive fighting for your defense.

Re: Jen (thetwo)

That was generous? Bitbot's rules allow you to forgo your attack to use both offensive and defensive modifiers plus and another +5. Which is too generous, IMO, but +1 isn't excessive.

Jenn grins at the woman, glad that she's passed. That meant she could get a job, and buy some clothes. Probably. At least, better then she could i she'd failed. "I'd be glad to spar with you some time, but I think I'll have to decline for today. I'm a little bit strapped for cash at the moment, so I think I'll have to take a job before I can take time for sport." She gestured obliquely at her shirt with one hand, while holding it closed over her breasts with the other. "Need to buy some clothes, for a start. I don't suppose you could point me in the way of a job where I might negotiate some of my fee in advance?"

Re: Jen (thetwo)

Valyria chuckled at Jenn's statement, "Heh, very well. Just take this seal up to the registry and they'll give you a seal of approval and a sigil indicating your guild membership. After that look around the postings. I'm sure you can find something like that. And people can be very.... accommodating, especially if it's a big job or a particularly urgent one. You might also ask a fellow adventurer. I'm sure some wouldn't mind donating a spare outfit. Be sure to take a weapon and some armor from the armory before heading out though, at least till you have the funds to buy your own." she said happily as she handed Jenn the guild seal.

Re: Jen (thetwo)

Jenn accepted the seal. "Thank you, you've been very kind, and I'll do my best to be a credit to the guild." With that, she was off to the postings, looking for one that might be done fairly quickly and with two people. The pay wasn't too important. Enough to buy a couple of outfits and a couple of meals would suffice for now. A partner was more important. Having a fellow guild member with her would be a bit of a safety net against her ignorance of local conditions, and might help her make a friend. She also kept her eye out for anyone else looking for work, especially a woman of about her own size, in case Valyria was right about being able to borrow an outfit off of them.

Re: Jen (thetwo)

Along the walls were many postings, she would see escort missions, supply retrieval missions, bounties, several various things that would be needing to be done. She saw three that met her preferrences, that offered fair coin:

Code:
Crystal supply needing fetching.
A load of crystal was left behind halfway between Magmarlia and Volcaria.
The workers had to leave it when they were suddenly attacked by a Dire Tunneler.
It might still be there.
A reward of 100 steel coins is offered to whoever is able to retrieve it.
An extra 100 steel for the tusk of the Tunneler.
Code:
Small settlement under Drinker Worm attack!
The small settlement of Limewick has been hardware by ravenous drinker worms
 for weeks.
They are offering 100 steel coins to any
who would be willing to assist them.
Beware: drinker worms normally attack in drones and can pop up from anywhere.
Be on constant vigil if you accept this job.
Code:
WANTED: The Lavaridge Raiders.
This group of bandits and scavengers have terrorized
and preyed off of both Volcaria and Magmarlia for several years now.
They have made off with a small fortune of steel coins from both cities.
They also have been known to kidnap women for "entertainment" purposes. They are
 armed and extremely dangerous.
A 100 steel reward is offered for the apprehension and capture of any of their
members and a 5000 steel coin reward for their leader: STEEL HEAD ROURKE.

Re: Jen (thetwo)

Jenn looks at the missions, trying to decide which one she wants.

The first one looked a little bit interesting. After all, she'd just fought a Tunneler. On the other hand, this was a "dire" tunneler, and not tame, and she wouldn't win by running away from it for five minutes.

The second was might also be worthwhile. She wasn't sure exactly what a "drinker worm" was, but if they attacked in droves then they probably wouldn't be too hard individually. The small reward also hinted that perhaps it was among the easier jobs, and she could live with a small reward for the moment. Bigger ones could wait until she had her feet firmly underneath her.

The third one... well, the idea that bandits were kidnapping and raping women was certainly a worth cause, and the enormous reward was certainly tempting. On the other hand, she was a woman, and doubted she would enjoy being "entertainment" in the event that she failed. And the size of the reward for the leader suggested that it was pretty dangerous, or someone would have snapped it up already. Perhaps best to leave that one for later.

After some consideration, Jenn decides that she should find herself a weapon that wasn't out of the bargain bin before messing with a tunneler without someone to call "time" after five minutes, and that she should get some experience before going after a bandit leader. The "drinker worm" problem might not have a huge reward, but it was good enough for today. Now all she needed was some equipment, and to see if she could find a companion who would also try herself on the Drinker Worms. And then either borrow a shirt off her companion or find the person offering the reward and negotiate for an advance.

Re: Jen (thetwo)

As she took the flyer for the Drinker Worm job up to the registry for certification and to find the hiree, she would be met with a slender but shapely young woman with dark brown hair and green eyes who had her hair over her left eye and was wearing a slinky fine red dress, purple elbow length gloves, dark satin pantyhose/garter combination leggings, red high heeled shoes, and was carrying an ornate looking staff, "Hello, there. I'm taking it by your dress, and lack of equipment that you're new to the guild; and probably Magmarlia as well. Its nice to meet you. My name is Nykkie. I'm a third year apprentice to the Mage Quarter headmistress, Minfirtii. I was looking for a traveling buddy and a warrior to back me up for a new job. I notices you were interested in the drinking worm job and figured it'd be a suitable two person job. Are you interested?" she asked friendly waiting for Jenns answer. The piece of paper the clerk handed her gave her directions to a hotel where the head of the settlement was staying.

Re: Jen (thetwo)

Jenn looked at the girl. She looked nice enough, and it sounded like she was competent as well. Perfect. "Pleased to meet you, my name's Jenn. And yea, I just joined the warrior's guild, and I only got to the city today. I'd be glad to have a partner for the job as well."

She looked down at her loaned shirt, which was still liable to flop open if she moved too quickly. "Just two possible problems. The first is that I'd really prefer to either repair this shirt or get a new one before meeting the client, and I don't have a penny to my name. The second is that - once I deal with my shirt and pick up some equipment - I'd prefer to start the job as soon as possible. If that's okay with you... then I don't suppose you have a needle and thread?"

Jenn had planned on asking to borrow a shirt, but looking at her perspective partner she doubted if it would fit. She seemed to like tight clothing, and tight around her supermodel waist wouldn't fit around Jenn's.

Re: Jen (thetwo)

"Likewise, Jenn. If you want, I can run you by the seamstress i use. She is really quite good and can make you any sort of outfit you'd like. You can pay me back once we finish the job and you have some income. I'm sure it wouldn't be too much money. Then we can meet the elder at the hotel and head out on our way! I'm fine with that. I would fix it up for you but I'm afraid I've never been much of a tailor. The only thing I'm really good at crafting is magic!" she said with a giggle as she lead her to her family's hired tailor in a rather nice looking building further down the city. Inside were wedding dresses, evening gowns, ball gowns, suits and other sorts of exquisite clothing. The seamstress came out to meet them, "Nykkie! Its good to see you! What does your family have for me today?" she asked jubilantly, "Nothing for te family, today Illiana, just my new friend Jenn here. She had a run in with a Tunneler or some creature and her shirt is ruined. Please set her up with some good adventuring clothes. It's on me." she said.

Illiana stands about Jenns height, has long blue hair, eyeglasses, a modest bust, a slim build, pale skin, and grey eyes. She is wearing a dress blouse, a medium length dress/skirt, long socks, dress shoes, and a navy peticoat over the blouse.

Re: Jen (thetwo)

Jenn looks around at the fancy dresses. Very pretty, but also expensive, and not great for adventuring. Still, it showed the tailor did good work. Jenn smiles at the proprietress, "Something simple, easy to move in? Not a dress, I'll probably be fighting in it. Dark blue or brown, I think." She thinks about the two fights against creatures she has been in so far. "And a needle and thread in case I need to fix it when I'm out of the city?"

Once the woman goes about her business, Jenn turns back to the woman. "Thank you again for the loan, by the way."
