Mei-Lien and Rosa snuck forward towards the stand of trees as quietly and efficiently as they could, the slimes following along almost even with the ground. They almost got there before being spotted this time, but at perhaps the last moment Mei-Lien could see one of the men break away and run, the other two preparing themselves for a fight. "Hmm... These look a little tougher" Rosa muttered, as she drew her sword.

Using the best of their abilities, the whole squad moved quietly towards the opposition. But somewhere past the halfway point Mei noticed a runner, and soon the others were drawing swords and preparing for combat as well. They needed to take these guys out fast. Not thinking about it too much, the demoness rushed forward in readiness, not really caring which one she managed to reach first. But either way, she would lay the smackdown on the one that happened to get into her way.

Mei-Lien got a running start in her attack, jumping up and giving one of the soldiers a taste of her boot. Rosa managed to do much the same, smashing past her target's defenses with a strike that seemed to hurt badly. The two were easily able to parry the counterattacks and respond back with powerful blows that staggered their opponents, though the soldiers did a good job of keeping the pair in front of them. All the same their efforts were quite obviously futile, as they continued to try and retaliate and were easily blocked by gauntlet and sword. With a final act Rosa brought her huge sword down on the one she was fighting, as with the one before destroying his blade and splitting him in two, this time from the top down, splattering gore against the trees, while Mei-Lien finished off her own opponent with a punch to the gut, shattering ribs and piercing his vital organs. "I think we beat them fast enough that we can still catch him" the shifter said, barely pausing before rushing towards the edge of the trees, towards the barracks.

Setting upon the pair of hapless soldiers with fury unbound, Mei and Rosa were absolutely brutal. The combat was a short but effective deal this time, taking much less time than these bouts usually tended to do. With the soldier she had been smacking around slumping to the ground after a few hard blows, the redhead turned her attention back to Rosa, who had followed suit and sliced the other man in half. It was once again time to chase, the third one not too far from them. The situation could still be salvaged, so the demoness sprinted forward without too much said or done. They had to catch the escapee and secure some degree of surprise when the barracks was finally in sight.

Mei-Lien and Rosa caught up fairly quickly, despite the speed of the runner. They could see, in the distance, a fairly tall hill with a building on top of it, which would almost surely be their ultimate destination. His goal in sight, the soldier didn't turn to face his pursuers until he felt Mei-Lien's gauntlet slam into the back of his head, and as he whirled around Rosa's sword caught him in the arm, cutting it deeply. The wound prevented him from drawing his sword, and Mei-Lien doubled him over with a kick to the gut, setting him up for a quick beheading from the shifter. "Alright, it looks like we've come this far without being spotted. We'll wait for the slimes here, and then you can come up with your own plan from there, though I'm here to cover your rear. Eventually they'll figure out we're attacking, and the advance scouts will come back. You don't want to have to deal with those while you're fighting the main force" she said, again cleaning her blade of the blood and gore it had accumulated with her mouth before sheathing it again.

Once again, the fleeing scout was caught and pulled into battle before he could get too far from the pair. In the short melee that followed, the teamwork between the two ladies settled the whole conflict in short order, each strike causing further opportunities for the other part of the pair. Once the man had been executed in suitably grand fashion, it was time for them to wait a bit and let the slime posse catch up with the supremely speedy couple. "Hmh, suppose we'll have to take care of those people as well then. Every one of them less in the main event is an increase in victory percentages for our side."

The two waited for the slimes to catch up for a bit, and when they had finally made it the little blobs seemed to want a short rest. Rosa sat lightly on one of them, which didn't seem to mind, and took a deep breath. After a minute or so they were ready, and the shifter got up and gave Mei-Lien a quick kiss on the cheek. "Alright, you can move on from here. Good luck."

Once the slime group finally catched up, they seemed to desire a bit of rest before any further action. Mei had no problem with such a thing, better keep them in good condition as well. The jellies might just fail on them if pushed too far. Leaning against a tree while the squad recovered, the demoness soon had her troops back in line and ready. "Alright, let's go. We got the barracks and the posted guards there to take care of as the main event. Rosa will stay here and intercept the grou we passed earlier once they come back to wonder why there's been no relief yet." she told the slimes, beginning to move towards the biggest outpost yet. Once the distance was closed somewhat, they would switch into sneaking mode and stake out any possible advantages.

The slimes wiggled in their odd and characteristic way to acknowledge their orders, and oozed along after Mei-Lien. She would find that, unfortunately, there was no cover around the tall hill where the barracks had been built, and what little there had been at one time or other had obviously been burned or destroyed in other ways. With a clear line of sight, one of the advance guards spotted the group quickly and sounded the alarm. Soldiers streamed out of the barracks in full gear, well prepared compared to the others Mei-Lien had faced. There were only 17 of them in total, compared to the 26 in Mei-Lien's company, so it seemed the sneaking around earlier had paid off.

The men formed into a battle line and began to charge, not content to sit back and wait, and Mei-Lien noticed that one of the men in a uniform that suggested leadership was heading straight for her. Two of the slimes came together around her to help her fight, as the two lines smashed together. Several of the men fell to the slimes, though several slimes were torn apart by the force of the charge. For her own part, Mei-Lien felt the wrath of the troops' leader, his sword slicing into her stomach deeply when he got to her. His momentum continued to carry him forward, and he was about to strike another heavy blow when the slimes intervened, knocking him off balance. The next few moments were all chaos for Mei-Lien, the battle raging around her, and she couldn't quite tell how it was going from her vantage point. All she knew was that this leader was almost super-human, and was easily holding his own with her and the two slimes, though they were also able to fend off his blows after that first.

With the agreement from her "troops", Mei drove herself forward. But as bad luck would have it, there was no real possibility to sneak into the building as it and the surrounding landscape had been modelled into the ideal ways of defense. And surely enough, after getting spotted by the furthest guards, the demoness was leading a squad against another. Soon, there was a full-blown melee going on.

As had been the usual deal with these places, there was always a leader, a clearly marked-out superior personality. This one would be Mei's target, another repeat of the previous bouts. She brought her full attention to bear on the man, but all it accounted for was a cut into her own belly. The slimes that had come to assist her weren't really much better, thought one managed to bring it's mass to bear on the man and hinder his potent strenght a bit. There was very little to do besides attempts to bring this commander down, so that was what the redhead continued to do, quickly instructing the other slimes to join this battle if they got done with other targets. Somehow it looked like this particular leader would not go down easy.

Mei-Lien continued her attempts to attack, but found that it was little use, as the skilled soldier countered her with perfect form, cutting into her arm. The attention he gave to Mei-Lien allowed the slimes to give their own attacks in an effective way, engulfing the man slightly more. Even so, he was able to fend off most of what came at him until Mei-Lien finally caught him in the side of the head with a kick, stunning him enough that one of the slimes climbed up to his waist, seemingly pummeling his lower body inside of itself. With a grunt he stabbed it away, forcing it to retreat, and there was a temporary lull in the fight. All around them the chaos of battle raged, and even with a little pause to survey it was hard for Mei-Lien to tell what was happening, but it seemed as if there were at least one more soldier as skilled as the one she was fighting, judging from the way slimes were going down. Still, the battle seemed to be in hand...

Even in her current demonic form, it was hard for Mei to match her skill with this particular man. The commander fended off her attacks with pretty much the same effortlessness as before, managing to slash her in the arm along the way as well. But there eventually was a suitable opening to exploit, which the redhead demoness used to throw a powerful roundhouse at the officer's head, stunning him just enough to allow a further invasion of personal space the slime that had been going at him. A brief look around them informed the fighter that the whole thing was looking pretty good, but there might be some further troubles with this other guy that seemed almost as skilled as the captain. But that had to wait. Still not entirely sure how this would go, Mei brought her attacks to bear upon the opposition once more.

One of the slimes quickly made good on an attack against the impressive soldier, taking up to his knees inside of it, but it still didn't seem to help the rest of them get in a hit, the soldier managing to block all of Mei-Lien and the other slime's attacks for a while before knocking the slime off him. Its brother managed to get in another blow right afterwards, but was soon struck with a powerful blow and forced to retreat a bit. The man was starting to look a bit ragged, as were his subordinates, though the other particularly skilled one was downing slimes quickly and efficiently. Even so, the battle was starting to draw to a close.

The ebb and flow of combat slowed down a bit during this particular portion of the ongoing battle. Only one of the slimes managed to further the downfall of the commander, both Mei and the other slime proving to be inefficient in their efforts. But the man soon shrugged off the slime, all of them now standing on even footing against each other as far as capabilities were concerned. But the leader was waning, his strenght barely there anymore. They needed one final push against him to stop this particular bout, and the redhead was about to do this with one strike or another.

The weakened soldier watched the slimes carefully for his defense, noting their movements, as they had been the ones to do damage to him in the past. This proved to be a mistake, as he left an opening for Mei-Lien to finish him off with a powerful hook, crumpling him to the ground instantly. Two more slimes fell to the other skilled solider, but he was badly outnumbered, and now eight slimes and Mei-Lien besides jumped him, quickly rendering him unconscious with attacks from every side.

They had achieved victory here, but it had come at an extensive price for the slimes, the majority of whom were lying dispersed at the feet of unconscious soldiers. Their better off brethren were wiggling around, likely wanting blood to revive their comrades. There was also the matter of the advance guards; the battle had taken a bit of time, and Mei-Lien couldn't know if the enemy had tried to return, or if the shifter needed help.

"Oh sloppy. A fighter needs to maintain a complete picture of the threat they are facing. Too bad..." Mei thought as she saw the opening presented to her on a platter. Not being rude enough to decline, she took a harsh swing at the commander's chin and rather nonchalantly took him out from the picture. Not wanting to waste time, she quickly moved the pair into combat against the other potential spoiler in the whole outpost battle. Before long, he too was overwhelmed as all the remaining slimes joined into the fray, all their attacks soon pulling him down.

After the battle was done, it was time for damage control. As usual, the blood of the soldiers would likely bring some of the slimes back, so the demoness went along and gave them what they desired with her knife. Once they were done, it was time to go back and see how Rosa was doing back in the earlier ambush spot.

Mei-Lien quickly and efficiently went about finishing off the soldiers, pouring their blood into the fallen slimes, which began to slowly coalesce again using that sustenance. With that done, Mei-Lien and the slimes headed back towards the clump of forest where they had left Rosa to ambush incoming reinforcements. As they got closer they could hear the sounds of clashing swords and pained yells of exertion. Speeding up, Mei-Lien got there just in time to see the shifter's oversized sword slice one of the last men in two, and then twirl to impale the last. There was a heap of corpses and gore and severed limbs all around the shifter, though the demon could tell that some of it was definitely hers with a quick glance. It was good that she could wield her sword with one hand, because she was missing her right arm, which had been severed below her shoulder with more than one blow. There were cuts all over her body, some deep, others not, and she seemed to be having trouble standing. "Definitely underestimated their numbers" she said quietly as she dropped to her knees, and she began to regenerate slowly."I trust you did well for yourself?"

After leaving the now corpse-filled outpost, Mei took the slime squad across the landscape. When they arrived at the ambush spot that Rosa had stayed at, they found the shifter still going at it. The battle ended as soon as they got there though, not really necessitating the group's participation. The shifter had managed to get herself pretty much chopped up into lunch meat, but that never was something that stopped her and those regenerative abilities. "Hmm, nothing too severe. Might have lost a few slimes though, didn't count them when we left." the demoness replied, showing her half-regenerated wounds on the belly and arm that the commander had inflicted.

Once Rosa had gathered herself and recovered a bit, Mei inquired about their next thing, most likely returning to base. If it was indeed so, that's what they would do

It took a little while for Rosa to regenerate, her wounds closing up as her arm slowly regrew. "Mmm, we should check the barracks before we go back. They may have something there we might want. Or someone in need of setting free" the shifter replied, looking over the slimes that were oozing around behind Mei-Lien, and counting briefly. "It looks like you've got them all, by the way. A few of them are really small, though, and they'll need a few feedings before they're back to normal."

When she was recovered she and Mei-Lien headed back to the barracks, leaving the slimes to rest in the forest. They made the trip up the hill and into the unsecured barracks, to find that the main room was more or less the same as any other barracks they had been in, mostly just trinkets and beds and things. There was a door in the back, though, unlike the others.

"Hmm, alright. Let us go back still, better safe than sorry." Mei agreed with Rosa, who was starting to slowly be her complete self once again. The whole squad headed back to investigate if there had been anything missed.

Upon their return, nothing in any material function was revealed. Nothing that they would need though, just the usual personal possesions and stuff. Yet, there was something that the redhead hadn't paid attention to, a second door in the back wall. "Hmm, missed that in the battle chaos. Should take a look, possibly." she said, preparing for a number of different perversions that might wait for them behind the door. Who knows what the soldiers had been doing in this place, since it was a bit more separate from the rest of the civilized spots.
