Re: Wrap-Up (Everybody!)
(Before people jump down each others throats, particularly mine, this is completely in character. He's a stalker, its in his nature to be sneaky. He's going to go with a sneaky plan over kicking in the door and challenging the whole demon army.)
D'Von looked extremely uncomfortable at Sables questions, the first easily recognizable most of them had seen appear on the demons face. When he responded, it was slowly, as though he were picking his words carefully; "There are..... Problems..... With your plan, my mistress. Firstly, we do not keep anything more than a few guards around the portal, to catch deserters or stray mortals that try to enter our realm. Most are either out here, or farther within our realm, waiting for the full invasion. We would find resistance, but nothing that would draw... The Queen. She is the most powerful of us. If you were to.... Slay her, the invasion would be broken, at least until another is chosen. It is possible that the Devourer might even choose you as her replacement, if it still exists after the Destroyers rampage.
"Secondly, the Queen would not come through the gate for any reason, no matter how many of our kin were killed. She cannot, or will not, leave our realm. Even if she would, it is unlikely that she would walk into a trap. More likely, we would all be killed from afar with magic. It is how this village was taken in the first place, at least."
D'Von paused, drawing in a breath, before the demon continued; "However... What this mortal says may hold a degree of wisdom. Perhaps a combination of the two plans might be best? I know of the Queens stronghold, and it lies close to where we keep our prisoners. If it still stands, the two places would be close together, and the Queen does not permit her prisoners to escape. If we tried to release them, she might come to deal with us personally. You would have the opportunity to slay her , and if you succeeded, every one of my kind would know of it. She would not risk destroying all of her captives while they still held value, so she would be limited in her magics, lest she destroy the entire area.
"Unfortunately, it would not do to be in a large group. If we were, she might consider the loss of her captives a worthy sacrifice to be rid of us, or perhaps use some greater magic to cripple all of us at once. It would be prudent not to seem to be a great threat, so that she will deal with us in person, is what I mean. Besides, the weaklings we rescued would be worthless against the Queens might, regardless of what weapons they were armed with."
Again taking a breath, D'Von said; "The choice is yours, my mistress. I will obey your command, and I have said what must be said."
(Anyone in the thread who would want to go to the final boss fight should provide some kind of input at this point.)
