Re: Mainland (Rescue Isabella Event)

Much to their surprise, when Elissia spoke to him, Siphon answered without moving.

"Yeah ... just cut the bloody thing off ... GAH."

The last part came as the vibrations of the branch moved in his chest, and for a moment his eyes threatened to void black again. After a very long moment however, they returned to normal. He followed this up with a grunt as they finally got him down. Then he looked at himself.

"Ah nuts ... that ruined my shirt. Um ..."

He seemed to be alright, if not a bit whiter than he should be. It seemed as if he might come out of this alright, but one could tell despite his words, he was simply masking the pain as best as he could. He paused for a long moment as he seemed to consider something.

"Anyone here know a good electrical source?"

Johnathan's plan seemed to work out well enough. At the sound, every last one of them jumped to their feet, and then started a chain reaction of commotion at the site of the demons charging them. They quickly moved into combat positions, and then demonic claw met sharpened steel in a battle that seemed a dead lock.

Emily landed with the true grace of a gymnast, her only two potential enemies locked in combat with each other and totally ignoring her. Given that Ian had control over them anyway, it was highly unlikely they would have come close to her anyway.

Siphon who had just asked his question suddenly registered Harrel's words.

"Wait, lost him as in how? As in something got him and killed him, or can you tell?"

Re: Mainland (Rescue Isabella Event)

Jonathan watched from his hiding place, still in dark form. He could not afford transforming back to human shape. After that stunt he had pulled, it'd be a stupid idea to do it here. The loss of mass upset the "balance" between his human and dark side, and unless he somehow recovered the mass he had lost, he would suffer. Hopefully, it'd be nothing worse than fatigue... But the darkling felt he'd be less than useful for a while. He'd need to compensate somehow. Some extra calories should do the trick this time, he didn't lose a limb or anything of the sort.

Besides, he had another reason to stay put as a puddle of black goo. There was a battle raging before him, and he needed to know the outcome. He couldn't help much - he was not a fighter, and his ability forced him to improvise in order to do damage. Jonathan knew he'd only get in the way, and he doubted that anyone would welcome his intervention with open hands. For now, he let the demon hunters - those had to be some kind of demon hunters, he thought - fight this battle on their own. It'd be dangerous if they lost... But after the incident at the school, the boy knew that arranging a meeting between them and the rest of his group wouldn't be a good idea.

Re: Mainland (Rescue Isabella Event)

Emily glances up at the remaining gargoyles for a moment, and happy that they posed no immediate threat she turns her attention to where the rest of them had gathered, immediately gasping at the sight of Siphon impaled on a branch.

"Is... is he going to be alright?" Emily asks, apprehension in her voice. While she didn't know the man she at least held some respect for him if Art counted him as one of his friends. "Aw nuts, that's right..." The young girl blurts out, suddenly remembering Jonathan's predicament. "We've, well some of us should anyway, head to where Jon and I were. The demons, they could've got to him. I knew I should've stayed there..." Emily adds the last part quietly, more to herself than to the others.

Re: Mainland (Rescue Isabella Event)

(I'm assuming at the moment that the hunter encampment is loosely on the opposite side of the demon encampment, and thus out of range, otherwise Harrel would have spotted them earlier too.)

"No he wasn't found. Not at where he was a moment ago anyway. Nothing's moved in that direction. But whatever happened, he's not there now, and I can't find him again."
Harrel replies whilst doing his best not to look at the grizzly scene involving the tree branch. "It's seems we're still clear for now, nothing else is coming at us as far as I can tell."

Ellisia shakes her head unknowingly in answer to Siphons question, immediately moving off again to look to the remaining gargoyles. "Bring them down Ian." She requests of the Australian telekinetic, readying her sword once more, and then talking back behind her while keeping her eyes on the flyers, "Siphon, will you be fit to continue? We're going to need everyone in one piece to do this safely."

Re: Mainland (Rescue Isabella Event)

Siphon grimaced slightly as a loud popping sound was heard, and the wound on his chest began knitting itself slowly. It wasn't super fast, but it was very visible that it was regenerating at an inhuman pace. After a few moments, it would have closed up, a faint scar visible where he'd been impaled.

"I'll manage, though I'm gonna need a source of resupply soon. Electricity should suffice. I refuse to ... you know, do the total vampire thing on someone."

He nodded to Emily as if to reassure her he'd be fine, having detected the slight concern in her voice, and repeated that to Sho as well.

"Gonna take a bit more than a tree limb to the sternum to keep my ass down. Although that did hurt like a bitch. I don't recommend trying that stunt."

((Yeah Squid they'd be on the opposite side. Sorry should have made that clear.))

The battle continued to rage onward between the hunters and the demons, and for a time it seemed the hunters were winning. They had slaughtered most of the demons when suddenly the sunlight shining down was blotted out by a gargantuan shadow. Johnathan never saw what actually attacked, but he would see the wall of flame suddenly pour out of the sky, flash frying both demon and hunter alike, setting fire to everything in the area. Luckily he was out of the range, though he could still feel the heat from it. Then, a loud screech sounded, and the shadow vanished. What was left behind were flickering flames, and the remains of bodies slowly turning to ash.

"Yeah, my sister," Sho mutters as Siphon asks about the energy source. "Too bad I can't quite manipulate the weather. I'd shoot a lightning bolt at your ass." She's supporting him, should he need it, at least until he's a bit more steady on his feet. She's also starting to look thoughtful, though, and stares up at the sky. "Y'know, I might be able to try. If there's enough clouds, I can try and cool down some, warm up others, make a storm front. Never done it before, though, so I don't know if it'll work...or if I even can. Maybe we can find something for you to leech off of once we get closer to the evil lair, instead."

"Two gahgoyles, comin' up." He pulls the things apart from one another, literally shoving one down to the ground and bringing it within range of Elissia's sword. After the first one was dealt with, he did the same to the one that was left. Once they were both fine black splorches, he stumbles back a step or two and actually sits down for a moment, massaging his temples. "Oy, that's a headache and a half." He seems like he'll be all right, but taking a break while the group figures out what to do next seems like an excellent idea for the moment.

(Heh, moonlight? I thought it was mid morning approaching noon? Based on what's been said up til now anyway. >_> )

With the remainder of the gargoyles dealt with, Ellisia surveys the group, though freezes at what sounds like a distant bestial screech. Looking out trying to spot anything there might be to see, and glancing at Harrel who shrugs with nothing to offer, she eventually spots something. "Smoke. Further up ahead, there's smoke rising up."

"Huh? Where I don't see..."
Grace mutters moving over to try and get a view through the trees whilst brushing all the leaves and forest floor debris from herself. "Shit, there is. That can't be from where Isabella is, can it?" She asks to anyone, hoping for a reassuring answer.

((Was it? I must have missed that. Someone please confirm this and if so I'll edit. That'll teach me to post when I'm only part awake.))

Siphon seemed to sniff at the air, then cocked his head to one side. His ears had thought they had picked up on the screech, though he had no idea what it was from.

"I don't think so Grace. Based off the smoke plume there I don't think it's coming from where we left Jonathan, which we right now are guessing is where Isabella is. No, this seems to be coming from the opposite side of things, way out there. Perhaps a mile or more from where Jonathan's last known position was. Though ... did anyone hear that screech?"

Re: Mainland (Rescue Isabella Event)

Jonathan watched the battle with interest and concern, silently rooting for the hunters. It'd be better if they won, or so he thought. Fate, however, seemed to be out to screw a whole lot of people today. Jonathan did not notice the mysterious shadow until it was too late. Before he had a chance to look around and locate the enemy, something literally incinerated everything on the battlefield, friend and foe alike, before vanishing with a screech. The darkling was left alone, staring at the depressing sight.

Even as he slowly recovered from the shock, his brain was beginning to interpret his observations. There was some great creature here, probably on the enemy's side, that clearly didn't care about friendly fire. And it had enough firepower to eliminate everyone in one shot. Deciding that he had seen enough, Jonathan quickly fled, moving towards the position where he was supposed to wait. He hoped he'd meet someone there. Because if he didn't, he would flee all the way back to the group. He was trying to avoid the enemy's position as much as he could, afraid of meeting the flamethrower.

Re: Mainland (Rescue Isabella Event)

Hearing Sho's suggestion about creating lightning Emily turns to the older girl. "I think I may be able to help with that if you don't want to focus on doing both heating and cooling the air down. It'll be risky, both for the surrounding area and myself because I've never done anything like this before but I could create a cyclone of super heated air while you rapidly cool it down. That should create what he needs. Though as I've never really done it before it's going to take a lot of Anima to use so I doubt I'll be able to use any fire casting for a while." Emily adds on at the end.

"Crap, that seriously doesn't sound good," Emily blurts out, turning to face the direction of the noise. "I don't mean to be rude but can we hurry this up, I don't want his death to be my fault."

"Yeah, I heard it too. I don't know what caused the flame, but that's a lot of smoke. I think your better off conserving your energy Emily, we might need it." Ellisia says, putting away her sword back into it's sub dimensional storage space as she does so, "No sense in exhausting one of our number in an uncertain bid to recuperate another. But I agree on the hurrying this up part. We've been delayed and disarayed a lot by this skirmish."

Grace nods strongly on that note, "Both finding Jonathan again and getting Isabella back. We have no idea what she might have been going through all this time." She says edging in the direction they'd been headed.

Re: Mainland (Rescue Isabella Event)

"Yeah, that sounded large and nasty." Obviously Sho heard it, too. She listens to Emily's idea and then inclines her head toward Elissia. "Hate to say it, but I agree. He's still up and kicking and won't keel over on us just yet. And since both of us are playing around with fun new ways to use our abilities, let's not chance it. Better to conserve energy now. Who knows, maybe we'll run into something that can help." So long as Siphon's steady enough on his feet, she relaxes a little, still keeping an eye on him, though.

Ian looks better after his rest. He still seems a bit wiped out, but he's ready to start trucking along if the others are ready to get moving as well.

"Right, okay, guess it would be better if I was at full power," Emily replies, giving Sho and Ellisia a simple answer. "If we're done here let's go. If you can't keep up just follow my trail." As Emily finishes her sentence she bursts into a sprint back in the direction she and Jonathan had went earlier. With each step she takes the ground burns and a trail of scorched earth follows behind the young girl.

Re: Mainland (Rescue Isabella Event)

Siphon nodded.

"I agree with Elissia. No point draining either of you on something that likely isn't going to work. I'll manage myself. Who knows, maybe one of our enemies will be nice enough to give me a power-up later."

The last was said with a semi-joking tone, which was a tad out of character for him. However that was replaced with a more serious tone a moment later.

"I have no idea what made that sound, but it sounded big. Really big. I'm going to guess that sound plus the smoke is not a good thing, and are somehow connected."

As Jonathan made it back to his original position, he discovered he was alone still, but the enemy mobs seemed agitated, as if they were preparing for something.

Jonathan really wanted to flee. He really did. But then again, he had a nagging feeling that letting those demons go unchecked would be a bad idea. Fortunately, his dark form seemed less vulnerable to shocks, physical or mental. Unfortunately, he'd probably be out for a while after changing. Deciding to wait for a bit to watch, the darkling settled down, but he was alert and ready to move in case of trouble.

Re: Mainland (Rescue Isabella Event)

Laying a hand at the small of Siphon's back, Sho cast him a concerned look, especially as he was making wisecracks. She almost said something about that being her department, but for the time being, let it go. She just hoped that he might be right and he could get a jolt before anything serious went down. Like finding the source of that awful screech. Maybe if they got through this, a serious stint of experimentation would be in order. She'd already started somewhat, being able to make her breezes run warm or cold, but to manipulate the weather on a scale like that would really take some doing.

"Doesn't waste time, does she?" Ian chuckles, reaching down and shouldering the supply bag that had slipped away from him during the tussle. Provided the others are ready to go, he does his best to keep track of Emily, but isn't afraid of making use of the footprints as they get further along.

"Huh? Hey Emily don't ru..." Ellisia starts, though plenty too late. "Aww heck. Honestly, does she have no idea of how a team operates? I'm going to stick with her just in case, see you soon." She says, calling the last part back as she dashes off to keep within sight of Emily.

"Alright then. Seeya." Grace replies, getting in step with the others. "So you get headaches from doing your telekinesis stuff? Man that must suck. I hate head aches." She says, slipping up beside Ian and snagging a breakfast bar from the supply bag.

Al stands off to one side and says nothing, having nothing beneficial to add to the conversation. Siphon had previously dismissed his limited electrical powers as too weak to be of any help to him, and there was still a while to go before the red eco wore off anyway.

Still as silent as ever, Al prepares to move off with the others. Those who were looking might notice a red glow in his eyes, as well as hints of a faint red aura around him that behaved like an optical illusion - as soon as you tried to look directly at it, it vanished.

Ian shrugs the bag in Grace's direction, making it easier for her to get at the supplies within. "Eh, when Ah really push. If Ah'm just fiddlin' around, it's not so bad, but somethin' like that or back when we were dealin' with that Charles charactah, really pushes mah limits. Aftah this, Ah'm catchin' a nap and Ah'll be right as rain. You'll see," he assures her with one of his usual smiles.

Re: Mainland (Rescue Isabella Event)

Siphon shrugged.

"Guess not. Course, if Jonathan is in trouble, ever second is precious. Go on, if I need to fall back I'll catch up. Oh Ian, what else do you have in that bag?"

He seemed to be ignoring Al's eyes, though Al might could tell the vampire suspected something was up, yet was choosing either to ignore it, or simply didn't care so long as he wasn't a threat to the others. Of course, if he thought for a moment based on the shared past Siphon had told them, perhaps strange things like that were commonplace where he came from.

As Jonathan watched, suddenly there was a flash of blue off to his right, and suddenly a figure carrying another appeared. As he watched, he noticed the figure matched the description Grace had given them of the attacker, yet now this close Jonathan could see the figure was no ordinary being. His skin was distorted, almost rotting, yet he seemed not to care. He moved with a sense of demonic purpose, and far faster than a mere mortal could have managed over the terrain. As he strode away and into the mass of demons, they parted for him, giving a clear indication that he was in fact responsible for them. And then Jonathan saw the person he was carrying.

It was another female, strikingly attractive. He probably wouldn't know her since he hadn't been introduced to her yet, but he did notice two things. First, she was wearing the shredded remains of the school uniform. Second, she had a necklace that glinted in the light, that bore the same exact symbol Siphon had told them belonged to his own people. Which meant Siphon likely would know who had been taken, which could prove to be a problem.

It was then he noticed that there was an energy field around her, pulsing green every few seconds, as if the guy had done something to her. It was impossible to tell if she was alive or not though, as soon enough they were too far away, having ducked down into the gully under the castle, vanishing below the ground and not returning.
