Re: Chapter 2 - The Calm Before the Storm

Claire stood, and bowed to the woman, before clumsily stumbling into the store. She had lost her balance, and after avoiding the dangerous looking mannequin started looking for Ken's bodyguard... Lee she supposed his name was.

Eve sort of loitered out in front of the place, peering around for Alexander, and really hoping she didn't run into anyone like the thug from last night. She shook a little, like a shiver, and rubbed her arms. It was going to take a while before these human habits of hers left.

Re: Chapter 2 - The Calm Before the Storm

Her attention is back on Cody after he shuts the monitors down, pulling the look that usually convinced her professors that she'd been paying attention, even if she had missed the last couple of sentences.

"I suppose that's the million dollar question, isn't it? Well, for right now, since it's possible, I'm planning on sticking with school. Given that it's the start of the semester, I have a little while to figure out what the hell I'm going to do about my family come break. Outside of that, apparently the Prince sees fit to send us on errands now and again and, barring shotgun and cranky old men, we seem to do all right."

She gives Raven a glance, arching her brow slightly, given he's obviously got something on his mind. Whether or not it's serious or snarky remains to be seen, but knowing her Sire, it's probably the former, even with the current company.

Okay, that went well. Let's just take a look before we go in. Not really looking forward to getting shot in the face, Fletch pops his head out of cover to peer into the alley for a moment, quickly pulling it back.

Re: Chapter 2 - The Calm Before the Storm

The old woman led Claire to the back area of the store, where she opened up a door to some sort of basement. Leading her down the stairs the old woman looked Claire over and explained a few things.

"Nice to see an old face in here even if ya aren't a Brujah, youngster. Just remember no killing anyone, this is just a place to relax with some good ol fun. Oh and I would be careful what ya say, most of us have a hard time keeping our tempers down and mistakes have been known ta happen."

At the bottom of the stairs they find themselves in a large room one end of which appears to be set up for target practice with target silhouettes set up. A large steel door off to the side is open, but the light within is turned off. In the center of the room Lee is helping up a big bruiser of a guy. Off to the side two others are watching and talking: A very short girl with pink highlights in her black hair, the other is none other than Jack. Seeing Claire come in Lee turns and smiles before saying.

"So are you ready to work that stuff out of your system, just grab a partner and get to it. I'm pretty sure any of us will be glad to help."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

It didn't take long before Alexander arrived, getting out of the back of a Rolls-Royce Phantom which then drove away to join the other cars in the parking lot. Walking up to Eve with a smile and a slight bow, Alexander spoke in a calm peaceful manner.

"Ah Eve my dear you look lovely as usual. I'm so glad you could make it since you haven't had much of a chance to learn about our clan yet."

Going in the they were lead to a private backroom and seated, a bottle of expensive wine was already sitting at the table. The waiter waited to see if their was anything else before Alexander dismissed him with a pleased nod.

"Not much use for the wine I'm afraid, but we still must keep up appearances amongst those not of the blood. So my dear I'm sure you have plenty of questions and rather than cover what you may already know, perhaps it would be best if you asked me what you wish to know. I'll try to answer as best I can."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Raven smiles as he joins in the conversation once again, though he still looks thoughtful about something.

"Yeah trouble does have a way of keeping up with our kind no matter what you do to avoid it doesn't it. Which reminds me how well do you know the other kindred in the area? We had an interesting confrontation with one of them the other night after Elysium and it wasn't one I recognized from earlier."

He asks this more nonchalantly like it's not really important as he continues looking around at the room.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fletch cautiously ducks his head from cover to check the alleyway out from his side. Seeing nothing but some trash cans and a dumpster, he pulls his head back in time to see Ronny run up to the other side of the alley, obviously much slower than Fletch had been. Once he too is near the entrance Ronny looks over and silently signals for Fletch to take point.

Fletch nods towards Ronny - from soldier to soldier - and spins into the alley, running towards the dumpster and ducking down behind it. Damnit, where did that guy go? He peers upwards to check if there were any fire escapes or anything like that where the shooter may have gotten away to.

Smiling, Claire closes her eyes and waves her hand around before stopping. When she opens her eyes again she's pointing at the shorter girl with pink highlights.

"It's been chosen. You're going to help me?" she exclaimed with glee.

Cody shrugs. "I don't know too many personally, I tend to stay in here for the most part. Food gets delivered, and I get excused from most elysiums. River also enjoys having someone around to keep an eye on all her trinkets, and she doesn't much like the idea of ghouling someone to do it for her. However, I do have at least partial profiles on every Kindred in the area, if you'd like. It would be a rather minor thing for me to see what I have on them, if you're interested." He says, thumbing back towards the computer.

Eve fiddled with the wineglass for a moment. "I'm not really sure," she said quietly, "but last night there was... something strange happened. I saw a beautiful earring and I was... entranced? I couldn't stop looking at it, and until Fletch pulled it away from me, I felt like I could have stood there and looked at it forever. Is that normal?"

Re: Chapter 2 - The Calm Before the Storm

Ronny spins around the corner right behind Fletch though it seems as if he's in slow motion compared to Fletch. Once in the alley they find the place completely empty, except for one strange thing. The wall opposite the dumpster seems to have been recently tagged with what looks like a message. Green and white letters seem to say something about arranging a meeting, but it's difficult to read because of the medium. Ronny stares at it for a minute before he shakes his head and throws his hands up.

"Well I'm fucking stumped, getting pissed the fuck off too. Why can't the other fucking leeches just walk up and give you a message. No they have to make some kind of game out of the whole thing."

Fletch is able to make out the message a little better than Ronny is. he's able to piece together the place and the who, Shark's Garage and someone named Eliza.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

The short punk looking girl glares at Lee with a look of annoyance on her face, before finally moving to the center of the room.

"Bollocks, alright handbags it is ya monged out git."

The others back off to the sides of the room and Jack smiles as from his spot along the wall. As he seems to be taking an especial interest in what's about to happen. A few hoots and hollers can be heard from some of the others encouraging Claire to move forward to the center of the room as well.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Raven shrugs his shoulders from his seat on the couch, as he continues to look around the room.

"Eh, I wouldn't mind knowing who it was but I wouldn't make it a priority. I'm more just curious as to how they knew about me already. All we really got was a distant look and a voice, either of which could be faked. Still it looked to be a tall, aristocratic type wearing a cape of all things. He had kind of a funny European accent probably one of the Balkan countries though I couldn't say which, sounded old too. So anyways how about a tour of the place you must have at least gathered up something interesting to see in the last 40 years?"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alexander smiles completely at ease as he too fingers his wine glass, "Yes, that may happen quite often you'll find. Some say it is the Toreador weakness that we are constantly entranced by anything of great beauty. However I myself consider it to be a boon to be able to lose myself in the beauty of such things, besides it usually just takes a little nudge to get us out the state. You wouldn't happen to still have the bauble would you, it may be worth quite a bit."

Pulling the glass up to his face he sniffs and turns up his nose a little before dumping the glass in the ice bucket.

"Must have been a bad vintage, even if it isn't quite to my taste anyways. So tell me about your companions, this Fletch and the others?"

Re: Chapter 2 - The Calm Before the Storm

Spurred on by the shouts and cries, Claire moves towards the centre of the room, a broad smile on her features. Standing before the other woman she takes a moment before crouching down to her height. That tiggling little piece of the real her in the back of her mind wondered what was about to happen, but the heroin in control simply didn't care; it was all one big game.

Izzy's been listening to the two of them banter. As Raven mentions the other Kindred from the other night, she adds in "Mentioned something about being a lord, too. I made a crack about not picking the knight and he corrected me somewhat. Could've just been putting on airs, though, like Raven said." She glances over at her sire for a moment. "He...also alluded to knowing more about Raven, too." She lays a hand on top of his for the moment, given what the other vampire threw out, though she's not going to bring that up in full detail if she can help it.

Fletch growls and throws a punch against the wall, pissed off that the shooter got away. "What kind of a messaging system is this?" he barks. "Seriously? Shoot at me to get my attention and then leave graffiti? I have a fucking e-mail account, okay?" The last sentence is yelled into the night. Turning towards Ronny, he turns his voice back down to grumbling. "I don't know about you, but I'm heading down to Shark's Garage to meet that Eliza person." He points his thumb at the graffiti.

Re: Chapter 2 - The Calm Before the Storm

Eve shook her head. "No... we uhm... it... We didn't even think about that. It had some pretty bad memories attached to it, and we threw it in the river." Along with the corpse of that guy who tried to rape me... she finished the sentence in her head. "The others? Oh man. Uh, Fletch is a really good guy, for all his gruffness. He owns a towing company and was the guy who found my Bug. Well... sort of. He got embraced by the same bitch that stole it. He's... well he looks intimidating but he's really gentle. At least to me." She fiddled with the napkin in front of her. "Claire is going to get us all killed, I swear. She's got a bad attitude and no sense of respect... but she's strong. She could bench press a truck if she really tried, I'm sure. Izzy and Raven are... well they're a cute couple but I haven't really learned much about them. They don't exactly go out of their way to volunteer information, you know? Ronny bothers be a little bit too, but not to the extent that Claire does. I don't know a lot about him either. So I really couldn't tell you." She wiggled her toes in their confining shoes. "Sorry if that's not what you want. But it's all I really know. So what's this event going to be like? Will there be other neonates there?"

Re: Chapter 2 - The Calm Before the Storm

The jeers and shouts continue in the background as Claire looks down at the tiny girl before her. The tiny girl smirks as she starts jumping on her feet lightly before she ducks low and punches straight for Claire's stomach. The blow lands more solidly than Claire could possibly imagine, almost causing her to buckle over in pain as she feels a rib break. (1 lethal damage. Time to use up that tainted blood.)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Raven gladly accepts Izzy's hand resting on his, slowly moving his own so he can hold on to her hand.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ronny looks back at the graffiti as Fletch thumbs towards it, nodding his head in agreement.

"So that's what the damn thing says, I'll let you lead the way. I still don't know this town as well as I should."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Well I didn't expect you to provide a full biography on any of them after just a few weeks. Though it may be wise of you to learn all you can of your coterie mates, you never know what may be helpful."

Alexander looks up at Eve's face and smiles deeply as he explains about the gathering. Though Eve notices a look of disdain cross his face whenever he mentions Alize.

"Oh it's just one of our distinguished primogen Alize's many parties, she tends to give one about once a month. Just about all of our clan will be there, with the exception of the occasional oddball. The parties can be a wonderful place for gaining information and prestige among the clan. Most of the clan in the area are neonates, it's not like in Europe where you would have a somewhat older population of kindred."

Claire grabs at her stomach, feeling the pain within as bones cracked and shifted beneath flesh. She looked up at the girl with a look of betrayal, but then shrugged as she began to heal herself, fixing the damage just done to her.

Fletch nods and jams his hands into the pockets of his jacket as he gets back into the street and turns to walk towards downtown. For a moment he stops and checks his surroundings, but no, still no sign of Alan or one of the others.

Re: Chapter 2 - The Calm Before the Storm

Cody looks thoughtful for a moment. "Hmm, nobody I know off the top of my head. I'll run the description anyways." He says after a few seconds, then heads back to his computer and turns on the right screen. This one seems dominated by what looks to be security cam feeds from about thirty different cameras. The pair are able to pick out a couple street cameras, a guard station somewhere, and a convenience store security camera while Cody types furiously. A few seconds of that and he turns the screen off again and turns back to them.

"It will probably be a few minutes, I'll give you two the grand tour in the meantime. As you can see, this is the main area here. My stuff in this corner, kitchen in that one, entertainment along the one wall, and most of the rest is excersize space for River." He explains, pointing an arm for emphasis as he goes along, then motioning for them to follow as he leads them to the wall with the doors.

He opens the first door to reveal an ordinary-looking bathroom, except that the small window above the tub has been sealed off with a sturdy-looking hatch. "Bathroom. Hatch there opens, for an emergency exit if we have to leave the place. 'Course, it's a forty-foot drop for anyone that can't move like she can, so I don't know how I feel about taking it, but you never know." He says, closing the door and moving on to the next room.

The second door opens to reveal a bedroom, with a pair of single beds along either wall. There's a built-in closet, a freestanding closet, and a pair of bedside tables, as well as what looks like an attic entrance in the roof, which is odd for an apartment. "Bedroom, clothes ands stuff, etcetera. Crawlspace access as another escape route, as well as a wall panel that has been stripped down to just two layers of drywall, for an easy break-through to the empty apartment. I swear, she is one of the most paranoid people I've ever met, and you should hear about some Malkavians I know." He says with a chuckle, closing the door and moving along.

The third door opens to what looks like a cross between some sort of pawn shop slash trophy room. every wall has some sort of shelving on or beside it, with two additional rows of shelving down the middle. only about 40% of them have something on them, but the assortment of random items is still staggering. There's a countertop jewelry closet with maybe a dozen earrings, necklaces, and rings in it, a rug rolled up on a center shelf, various small pouches (One of which smells rather bad, like cat droppings), coins, a wrinkled, severed hand, guns, a japanese katana, you name it. "This is River's trophy room. She has a habit of taking a token from everybody she's killed, half of these were from Sabbat She wiped out as a peace offering to the prince when she changed sides. She kept it all after she showed them off, of course. Don't know who exactly most of them are from, but she keeps adding to it, every other week or so. I do know that she's saving that spot..." He explains, pointing to the center of the back wall, where there's a bedroom dresser that matches the bedroom bedside tables, with a large mirror. The center of it is left conspicuously empty. "...For Deacon's head, should she ever collect it. personally, I don't know what she's thinking, he's old enough to probably ash if she ever manages it, but I'm not going to tell her." He chuckles again. "Go ahead, take a look around."

Isabella does her best to make note of where the cameras are that Cody's accessing, just trying to keep that in mind for the future. Either she'd know if he were somewhere to spy on them or if they needed to get his attention in a manner other than the telephone.

"Well, even without River's abilities, you'd still bounce back from the drop eventually, right?" She recalls the tumble that her fellow Kindred took the night that the older vampire was teaching them about their powers. "Though I suppose if you're trying to get away quick, breaking a leg when you landed wouldn't be all that helpful, huh?"

"She have a reason to be?" comes out as he remarks about River's paranoia. "I mean, just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you. And from what she's told us about the Sabbat, I don't blame her. They don't seem the type to let you just up and walk away."

At the trophy room, though, she lets out a low whistle. Seeing the hand, she makes a crack about it being a monkey paw. She'll look at the stuff, but doesn't touch, given that it's River's property and all. As Cody directs their attention to the dresser, her brow furrows. "Who's Deacon? River hasn't said anything about him yet."

Re: Chapter 2 - The Calm Before the Storm

The hoots and cheers die down a little as most of the others realize that Claire probably isn't in the best state of mind for a fight. At the look of betrayal on Claire's face, the short girl stops hopping on her feet for a second as she mutters out.

"Cor' blimey she's completely cabbaged! Not to worry, love, I'll try not to chin you too hard."

With that the girl starts bouncing on her feet in front of Claire once more. With a slight look of regret on her face, she unleashes another punch into Claire's stomach just as hard as the first. Claire doubles over in pain from the blow and begins healing the damage done, only to have the other girl grab her by the hair and throw two quick knee strikes into her face. Claire's knees are only just starting to buckle from the tirade of blows when the other girl finishes her off with side kick to the knee. ((4 lethal.))

Claire collapses to the ground with the final blow as her undead body is unable to keep up effectively finishing the fight. As Claire lays on the ground healing herself, the other girl leans over and smiles.

"You gonna be okay, love?"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ronny follows along behind Fletch as they leave the alley, also stopping to look around before they take off for Shark's Garage. The walk downtown goes by fairly quickly with the quick pace of the two men. Ronny as usual not saying much of anything as they head for the pool hall. As the pair are crossing the street in front of The Vat, Fletch suddenly remembers why he had thought the address, from the other night, was familiar. It was the Vat, not really his type of club but probably one of the more well-known in town.

Reaching the pool hall Ronny suddenly stops as he looks up at the door as if he suddenly remembered something.

"Oh the pool hall, that's why the name sounded familiar, though it's a wonder I remember any of the places in this town."

Pulling a cell phone out of his pocket he pretends to dial a number and puts it to his ear before looking over at Fletch. It's not that strange of an action but it strikes Fletch as odd, mainly because Ronny doesn't seem the friendly type who would call someone up.

"I'll meet you inside, I shouldn't be more than a minute or two. just remembered someone I had to get in touch with earlier tonight."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Raven watches the computer as it flashes briefly, not all that surprised by the amount of security cameras that his old friend Cody keeps track of. Following along beside Izzy as they are given the grand tour, he seems a little surprised by the amount of escape methods. Adding his own comment as a joke about how it might not be a bad idea to be so paranoid knowing the amount of trouble he's managed to find without looking for it.

When they get to the trophy room he raises an eyebrow as Cody explains where it all came from. At the mention of Deacon he looks a little curious as well, not remembering that name being mentioned yet either. After the explanation of who Deacon is he starts up a conversation with Cody about something that had happened in their cooperative past. ((Don't forget about your specific clan weakness now Copper))
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alexander keeps smiling as he continues on about the party, mostly explaining the proper etiquette for a party of this sort. All of it pretty familiar to Eve from the brief explanation of things that they had already received from him during their time spent in the ware house from River. She also gets a definite feeling that Alexander has a strong dislike for the clan Primogen though she's not sure of why.

"So you said you wanted my help with picking an outfit for the party, perhaps we should move on to that portion of the evening if you have no more questions about anything."
