Re: Monstergirls Unlimited RPG
THIS IS A COPY OF THE EDITED ORIGINAL POST
Hullo again ulmf-ers!
A few years ago, I made an amateur foray into the game-making with a H-game created with RPGMaker VX. This was directly after I tried out the Rape Quest game which featured a female adventuress traveling around a VX-created world and getting raped during battles or quests. I had also recently gotten interested in the Monstergirl Encyclopedia created by Kenkou Cross, and decided to weave together the two sources which had inspired me to create what became known as the MGU RPG. The MGU RPG was, in essence, a game that involved a male adventurer traveling around a VX-created world populated with monstergirls from Kenkou Cross's Monstergirl Encyclopedia. I didn't want it to just end there, however. I wanted the game to have a realistic story behind it, proper English language usage, character development, and so on. To that end, I ambitiously set about creating the MGU RPG, and worked on it, improved on it, and ultimately tried to create a H-game at the level of a game like FF7. That, was my goal. To create a game which was in all aspects, a H-game, but possessed everything a proper game should have, instead of being a third-rate effort.
Throughout the entire process, from version 0.1 all the way to version 0.9, at which point real life stuck its nose into my affairs and I was forced to drop game development for good, the ULMF community has kept me going along with the MGU community that this game was originally made for as a local community project. I never expected the MGU RPG to gain the popularity that it did, and for the support, encouragement, bug testings, suggestions, and all that other good stuff that the ULMF community has provided me with while I worked on the game - thank you all very, very much.
As much as it pains me to say this, mainly because many of you have expressed interest in seeing this game completed, I must officially announce that I am discarding this title, and will no longer be working on the game. There are many reasons for this, but one of the primary reasons is that much of the game is an organizational and programming nightmare because it was made by a complete amateur (me) who made his first foray into game design with that title, and the sheer amount of problems, mistakes, and miscalculations in the MGU RPG is horrible. Absolutely horrible. Its not entirely beyond repair, but the effort required to fix the flaws would be pretty overwhelming. Furthermore, those who have worked with RPG Maker or on games of their own will understand me when I say it is extremely difficult to pick up a game you dropped several years back - you've lost most of your original vision, your drive isn't quite there, and you can't quite pick up where you left off in general.
Also, for those who requested if they could work on the game themselves - by all means! I'm truly flattered that you would want to do that, but in response to those who asked for the original game files and stuff - I do not have them. Sadly, I lost most of the game files and data in the chaos of my move. Nonetheless, you are welcome to pick up the game where it left off, or improve it/patch it, as lazydude (man with the very deceptive username) and several others have done. Do note, however, that this game involves using many members of the MGU community as cameos, and while I redesigned many of them and took an artistic license with some, they do still count as 'their' characters, so a little credits section dedicated to the community of MGU would be much appreciated if you do come out with a finished, revamped product of MGU RPG.
Lastly, I would now like to say that my life has finally regained some semblance of order. I am now officially a civilian, having obtained an honorable discharge, and after a brief stint working in the nightlife industry to support myself while working on my writing and drawing portfolios, I was successful in an overseas job application which resulted in me moving to a new city and taking up work as a storyboard designer - better known as "games writer". While this is not a full return, I plan to eventually return to actively serving the online community at large with more of my creations, so rest assured, be you waiting for my stories, artwork, or games, I will work to come up with something new soon enough.
PS: Also, for those who wish to have some kind of conclusion to the MGU RPG, the entire planned plot I had for the game is on the OP in page one.
