Re: Calgary, Alberta - Canada

Mikki smiled when Miranda came up, then nodded as the medusa told her what to do. she dropped to her belly and made to crawl after the snake woman, which made her sink as low to the ground as she could manage, but also crushed any grass they passed though as she used her arms to literally drag the rest of her forward along the ground. If scraping along the ground made two much noise, she'd start with her feet as well, but that would leave her knees sticking up with every step, likely over the level everyone else was trying to hide under.

Abby nods and shifts into her urhan form before following the others, occasionally sniffing around to try and pick up any scents.

"Sure, lead the way."

Przemek watched Miranda leave, noting the improvement in her skills, before turning back to observe the situation, using all senses to gather data. Personally, he agreed with the medusa - something was definitely wrong here, but there was no way to guess what. Still, they had no real options aside of going in to spring the trap - and hopefully live to tell the tale. The ghoul wondered if he could find a way to kill the Cabal leader in the process as well.

Re: Calgary, Alberta - Canada

Soon enough Alec found himself standing in front of a large tank filled with water. For several moments, he saw nothing. Then, suddenly, she was there. Her hair flowed behind her, long and red. Her upper body seemed human, right down of course to her breasts and stomach. From there though, where her legs would split apart were she human, it changed. Instead, she had a singular tail fin, which he could see was what she used to swim, and he had no doubt she was a much faster swimmer than any two legged being on the planet. She swam right up to the glass, placing a hand against it as she studied him. He could tell from her look she was happy to see a new face, but there was an underlying sadness in her green eyes. Something told him however that it wasn't sadness from living here, but rather something else.

Henry spoke to her first, out loud, before turning to Alec to warn him of what was to come.

"Sally, this is Alec. Alec ... this is Sally. Word of forewarning bro, she uh ... she communicates telepathically."

Right after Henry warned him, Alec heard a soft voice within his mind that could only be Sally's.

"Hello Alec. As Henry mentioned, I am Sally. Would you ... care for a swim?"

Miranda led Mikki and Abby to where Przemek was waiting, and the group slid quietly into place next to him.

Abby's senses could detect loads of sweat in the air from the now departed soldiers and such, but she could also sense apprehension. There were no inhuman scents around any longer, save for the fading scent of whatever abnormal they had carted off.

Miranda looked at the ghoul, frowning as she spoke.

"Przemek ... I don't see any other options open to us. We know they likely are expecting a rescue party, but we have no idea what their intentions really are. We can't just leave her in there and do nothing though. Now normally I wouldn't suggest this but ... do you think it would be worth the risk splitting up into twos and trying to catch them off guard that way, breaching entry points on opposite sides?"

Re: Calgary, Alberta - Canada

The ghoul paused for a moment to take in Abby's appearance and scent, memorizing them for later, before turning to consider Miranda's idea. "It's risky... But so is going in with only four people. I don't think they'd expect us to split up into two groups in such a situation, and even if one pair is discovered, the second one might be able to complete the mission." Przemek nodded slowly before turning to face the whole group. "However, we need a safe way to communicate with each other, just in case. Otherwise, it's probably better not to split up."

Miranda thought for a long moment before replying.

"Well that could be a problem. I doubt Sally has that kind of range to transmit across this kind of distance for prolonged periods of time. Radio's would make too much noise and ..."

She trailed off as something seemed to click in her mind, and slowly a semi-smile crossed onto her face.

"What about periodically checking our phones and running silent mode on them, and using the text message features? They don't appear to have any outside landlines coming into this place, at least no visible wiring, so cell phones would have to be how they 'call' out when they need to."

The ghoul frowned. "We can't count on Sally, not so far away from the Sanctuary. She had enough trouble with reaching only me over this distance, she won't handle four people." Przemek tilted his head to the left, pulling out his cellphone and quickly muting it. He almost forgot about the damn thing, which could get him killed if it suddenly rang. "I don't know. It could work if they can't detect or intercept the messages. Otherwise, it's too big of a security risk to keep them online. Cellphones aren't made for stealth."

Miranda seemed to be ready to reply something, but as her mouth opened to speak, she suddenly froze in place, a look of shock on her face.

"Oh ... fuck. Ditch them, now!"

As she moved, she quietly added, "I don't know about intercepting texts, but they very well might be able to ping them and track us via the goddamn GPS in them. Shit how could I be so stupid ..."

((You mentioning interception reminded me that ALL cell phones have a tracking chip in them, whether you know it or not. I totally forgot about that too lol, I'm just as bad as Miranda there.))

Przemek let out a growl as he moved to smash the phone on the ground, a look of fury on his face. Right before he managed to crush the piece of electronics that angered him, he managed to remember that causing too much noise would be less than smart, and somehow restrained himself. Putting his cellphone on the ground, he took a deep breath to calm himself down. "We're wasting time." He growled. He wasn't collected at all, but then again, he was a ghoul. "Let's decide. Split up or all together?"

Crushing the offending device under her heel, the medusa replied "together. No communication to split apart, we'd be screwed if we needed to warn the other group."

She nodded that she was ready, waiting for the other two to signal they were too.

((Waiting for the others before we move on Grave, and your toon probably wants to lead to an entry point.))

Re: Calgary, Alberta - Canada

((Been here the whole time, just haven't had anything useful to add, is all.))

Mikki sat quietly, alternating between watching the group and looking around. She didn't get to go outside very often, she missed the open sky. She knew there weren't any big trees around though, so it didn't bother her too much.

When Miranda asked if they should split up, Mikki stayed silent. She considered suggesting to split, just so she may end up not with Przemek, who was even know giving her shivers, but she decided that it wasn't important enough to ask for, if things were dangerous where they were going.

The final decision was to stick together, and Mikki nodded and smiled, indicating that she was ready to go whenever the others were.

Miranda paused for a second, having not realized until now that Abby probably couldn't speak in her current form.

"Oh um ... Abby ... if you can understand me, uh ... lift up one paw towards me like you were going to swipe at me with it would you?"

It seemed either Miranda wasn't sure at first what sign to use, or if she felt stupid for asking Abby to do this and fearful she would offend her.

"A swim? Uh... not right now thanks, maybe later."

Abby bared her teeth a little at Miranda, before raising her paw as instructed.

Re: Calgary, Alberta - Canada

Miranda slightly winced at the barring of the teeth, knowing she'd probably struck a nerve.

"Sorry Abby, I don't know how better to communicate and you know how you can move about best, so I'm not going to even ask you to change back. I'll let you decide there, but I am glad you can understand us. If you are ready to get moving, could you do the same thing again please? Minus the teeth if you don't mind. Przemek, you've had more time than I have had to scout possible entry points, I'll defer to you there. Once inside ... steady, quiet and keep your eyes open."

There was a pause before Alec got a reply.

"It is alright, later as you said perhaps."

There was another brief pause before she spoke again.

"I shall leave you with Henry to go exploring, you have much to learn and little time to do so I fear."

With that, she gracefully turned and swam away, vanishing into the depths of the water in a few short seconds. Given that the water was mostly clear for a fair distance in, that would tell Alec she could swim insanely fast, much faster than a human could easily. perhaps even faster than a Shark could.

Despite her kind words though, Alec might get the impression something was bothering her, though he couldn't tell if it had been his declining to join her or not.

"She's not... upset that I said no, is she?"

Abby raises her paw again and looks expectantly at the others.

Re: Calgary, Alberta - Canada

Henry shook his head.

"She's got a lot on her mind right now, doubt you saying no upset her. Long story short, she hasn't had much time to absorb the fact that about eighty percent of her species just got wiped out by something in Bermuda. We sent a team down there and the last I heard from Chris was that he seemed to think it was something the Cabal came up with. Sally's trying to go onward and all but, I mean it really is affecting her more than she's letting on. For us here it's saddening since we try to protect people like her but for her ... And this is the second time she's gone through something like this. When Doc first brought her here they had found her by herself, she was the lone survivor of a large number of them. All the others had been killed by lord knows what, and somehow she survived. She was a little kid then, they brought her here and it was like ten years before she really began to function on her own. So for this, it's like re-living whatever hell she went through as a kid, once again alone. She'd established a link with the folk in Bermuda three years ago when we found them there, so for the first time she had others of her kind to communicate with. And then about a day or two ago she basically bore witness to them dying off one by one. Dude, the connection with them was so strong on that she unwillingly projected it to all of us, we all saw it."

Re: Calgary, Alberta - Canada

The ghoul glanced once more at the building, mulling things over. He didn't manage to notice any obvious entry points during his watch, focusing more on the events taking place in front of the building. "Front entrance is out of the question... Not enough people and power for an assault, and we can't risk being detected either. We'll have enter from the side or the back." Przemek looked at his companions. "As much as I hate to say this... We can't start killing before we recover Ashley..." It was obvious that he loathed the though. His disgust was clearly visible. "This is a rescue mission. Though I suppose that any chance to kill the head bitch would be too good to pass up..." He added thoughtfully, seriously considering the idea. Gods, he needed to slaughter someone. Badly. "Let's move." The ghoul finished abruptly before moving, trying to stay behind cover and spy a good way inside.

Miranda nodded to the others and they moved out, but not before she added in "rescue first, agreed. Though if the opportunity presents itself to hit Stallers, by all means, gut the fucking cu ... er, bitch."

A few minutes later they lucked across a possible entry point in the rear of the facility, one that seemed to be completely unguarded. It was up to them if they wanted to take the opening, although Miranda was definitely eying the large doorway with interest, albeit cautious interest.

Re: Calgary, Alberta - Canada

Przemek relied on his nose and ears to check the area out more than on his eyes, not that he neglected to watch carefully. Superhuman senses saved his ass many times, along with superhuman reflexes. He examined the doorway carefully, looking for possible traps and guards. He really didn't want to get busted upon entering. The ghoul seemed eager to take the opening if it was safe enough, though. Idly, he wondered why exactly Miranda hated Stallers as much as she apparently did. Perhaps he could ask later. For now, he had a rescue - and hopefully, an assasination - mission to deal with.

Re: Calgary, Alberta - Canada

The ghoul's senses didn't detect any traps, nor did he spot anything visible at all. For that matter, other than his little group, he couldn't even pick up any scents from other beings, at least none in the immediate area.

Miranda looked at him, and her eyes spoke for her, even though she said no words and couldn't communicate like Sally could. Her eyes moved to the doorway and rose up in a 'shall we?' glance.
